I am a habitual list maker, and I like to keep lists of different types of Sims 3 resources. I figured I would share!
So, here’s a list of resources, tutorials, and mods/cc that I have found to be very useful for the purposes of creating sims stories, improving my screenshots, etc.
Some great insights from various simmers for lighting, photoshoots, and visual storytelling in general:

Some specific mods and cc that I think are particularly helpful for staging scenes:
Pose Player by cmomoney (I think this goes without saying, but I’m including it just to be thorough).
Lyralei’s Pose Addon (must have!).
Omedapixel’s Sims 3 Decorator Tool (must have!).
OMSP by Granthes
Murano’s Screenshot Backdrop
Buhudain’s invisible lights
SetHour Cheat mod by LazyDuchess (nice for just quickly setting the hour).
Time/Weather Change Mod by cmomoney (helpful if you need specific weather for your photoshoot; for example, changing the weather to overcast for outdoor photoshoots helps with diffused lighting).
NRaas Master Controller – probably a given, as I think everyone should already have this installed. In terms of storytelling, it’s crucial for easily moving around and editing sims when you’re setting up a scene.
NRaas Debug Enabler – useful for all sorts of storytelling/screenshot things: open and close a door, spawn/create an object, summon a meteor, trigger all sorts of events you might wish to use as part of your scene, etc.
Eca Move Objects Cheat with Hotkey – nice for quickly turning MOO on and off since you’ll be using it a lot when moving around sims.
NRaas Dresser – Nice to quickly/easily remove accessories or copy accessories to all outfits etc. (Can come in handy when you’re using poses that might involve accessories like mugs, books, pens, pregnancy tests, or whatever.)
PosterLoader by douglasveiga – Nice for setting your scene with customized family portraits and such in the background. You can also use Transmogrifier to copy the poster loader frame script to the in-game digital picture frames for a wider selection of sizes (can be a bit finicky, but S3DT can help with placement).
NRaas Story Progression – obviously useful for a million different things (I can’t imagine playing without this mod), but for photoshoots in particular it’s easy to make your sims’ needs all static.
Modified Shimrod's Camera mod by @brntwaffles (can zoom out much further, among other features)
No More Fade camera mod by Collin2 (objects won't disappear when you zoom in)
Decensor and Passion mod of course. 😉
NRaas Mover - sometimes you might need more than 8 sims in your household for a scene or you don't want to deal with "needs adult" restrictions.
All gameplay/immersion and graphic-improvement/default replacement mods will be helpful, but that's a post for another day. :)
Some of these were made for Sims 4 but obviously can be used for Sims 3 as well:

Moodlet & Wish templates 2.0 by @simspaghetti
Career UI Template by simspaghetti
Photography Template by simspaghetti
Simstagram Story Overlay by Honeycombsims

Ultimate social bunny templates by pxlverse
The Ultimate Icon Collection by @petrolstationflowers
@sims3tutorialhub has a whole section dedicated to Pictures.
@kosmokhaos has lots of helpful and interesting editing insights under her #kosmo tutorial tag.
Another tool that probably goes without saying, but I’m including it in case anyone’s new to using it. A couple places to start:
How to install reshade for Sims 3 in 2025 (Youtube tutorial by @acottonsock)
Sims 3 reshade help - @erasabledinosaur
I don't know jackshit about g-shade so can't really say anything about it, but it seems to be another good option.
I guess that’s it for now! Like I said, I enjoy making lists, and I also wanted to show my appreciation for those who have so generously shared their knowledge and creations over the years.
By the way, if you’ve made some sort of post or tutorial related to this stuff in the past and you don’t see it on the list, it’s probably only because I didn’t know about it. 😊 🖤
Let me know if there's anything I should add!
Here’s a brand new script mod for you! I got sick of seeing all Sims greet each other with handshakes, so I made this mod to fix and expand upon one of EA’s most annoying oversights in my opinion.
Better Greet overhauls the visual aspect of the Greet social interaction and allows Sims to play diverse greeting animations under different circumstances. See more details on all its features under the cut! 👋
In the vanilla game, greetings are limited almost exclusively to handshakes, with the only exceptions being the cultural greetings from World Adventures and the Proper greetings from Supernatural, as well as a rare ‘wave’ greeting that takes place when one of the involved Sims is carrying a baby or an object.
This behavior seems to be an oversight by the developers, as the Social Data for the Greet interaction includes some rules that in theory would allow Sims to use different animations when greeting friends, romantic partners and so on, but the actual script that handles greetings completely disregards these rules.
This mod aims to solve that and expand upon the possibilities by making Sims’ greetings also take into account things like personality traits, social group and relationship status.
There are a host of new conditions under which Sims can perform the new greeting styles. Some aspects of these conditions can be edited in the mod’s Tuning resource, such as the relationship level or social group level required for a greeting to be performed. By default, the mod is tuned in a way that strangers, acquaintances, friends and romantic partners all greet each other differently.
Though there are no hard requirements, many of the greeting styles rely on expansion packs for their animations or to fulfill certain requirements, such as: World Adventures, Showtime, University Life, Island Paradise, Into The Future. The mod can still be used without any of these packs, the corresponding greeting types will simply not be available.
If UL is installed, Socially Awkward Sims have a chance of performing some greetings awkwardly. The reaction to these greetings depends on the target Sim's traits; friendlier Sims won't mind and will turn an awkward greeting into a successful one.
An optional “Euro” mode can be enabled, which adjusts the rules of the Double Cheek Kiss greeting in order to mimic the customs of parts of the world where giving a kiss on each cheek is a common greeting. This can be mixed and matched with the Check Gender tuning, which can restrict this greeting to be performed only with female Sims if enabled.
Wave: By default, Sims will introduce themselves with a Wave instead of a Handshake. If their LTR is -20 or below, they will always use this greeting, with special animations if LN is installed.
Handshake: Sims will greet with a Handshake if at least one of the Sims is an adult, or if one of the Sims is a Workaholic. If WA is installed, two Workaholic Sims will greet with a Fast Handshake.
Double Cheek Kiss: If WA is installed and Euro Mode is enabled, Friendly Sims can greet with a Double Cheek Kiss as long as the target is not a Loner.
Friendly Hug: Sims will greet with a Friendly Hug if their LTR is at least 40. If one of the Sims is a Loner, their LTR must be at least 60.
Shaka Bra: If IP is installed, Sims who share the Loves to Swim trait and have a LTR of at least 15 will perform this greeting.
What's Up: If SHT is installed and the actor has the Social Butterfly trait, they will perform this greeting with other Sims if their LTR is at least 10. Uses the Trait Bonding animation. If SHT is not installed, the required trait is Schmoozer.
Double Cheek Kiss: If WA is installed, Sims who share either the Snob or Diva (SHT) traits will perform this greeting if their LTR is at least 25. If Euro Mode is enabled, the trait requirement is skipped.
High Five: If UL and ITF are installed, Sims who share a Social Group can greet with a High Five as long as their influence level is at least 1, and they have a LTR value of at least 20.
Old Friend Hug: If ITF is installed, Old Friends can perform this greeting. Uses the Hug Long Lost Descendant animation.
Amorous Hug: Romantically involved Sims will perform this greeting if their LTR value is at least 60.
Shy Kiss: Romantically involved Sims will perform this greeting if they have had their first kiss before and the actor is Shy and their LTR is at least 70.
Amorous Kiss: Romantically involved Sims will perform this greeting if they have had their first kiss before and their LTR is at least 80. Shy Sims can perform this greeting if their LTR is at least 90.
Dip Kiss: If ITF is installed, Romantically Involved Sims will perform this greeting if the actor isn't Shy, is a Hopeless Romantic, has had their first kiss before and their LTR is at least 90.
To edit the mod’s tuning, open the .package file with s3pe and edit the Tuning XML resource in a text editor of your choice.
There are lots of different tunables as I've tried to make the mod as customizable as possible, but adding them all in here would make the post even longer than it already is 😅. I've tried to organize them as neatly as I could in the XML so hopefully you'll be able to make changes easily!
This mod will conflict with any other mod that replaces the social_greet jazz script in JazzData.
Place the .package file in your Packages or Overrides folder.

Hey bb girl mwah!
This was requested by @echoweaver (sorry it took me so long to upload!). I added a second invisible preset to all five ITF soil rugs so they are a bit more versatile. I decided against replacing the original texture with an empty one because I didn't want it to mess up pre-built houses in Oasis Landing, so instead I added a new preset. Because of that, I had to edit the .OBJD resources along with the textures, so if you're using these hiders by @bioniczombie, make sure to delete the hiders for these rugs!

Requires Into The Future. Credits to EA for the textures and meshes.
As @flotheory mentioned in their post here, I tested their new dinner mod with a fancy dinner party, stretching over three tables and including 14 sims!
If you'd like your sims to throw a dinner like this, too, and you're not quite sure how to do it, let me know and I'll make a tutorial post!
1) First build a foundation with the foundation tool (NOT the basement tool!).
Now make the foundation hollow where you want your basement to be leaving just the outer tile of it.
2) Make sure to switch off auto-roof and to remove all auto roofs.
3. On the ground, use the stair tool to lower the terrain. Hold shift to control the number of stair steps. I usually do it in 3 sets of 4 steps as I cannot count to 12 :P (A regular wall is 16 steps high, a foundation is 4 steps high per default, so you need to lower the terrain 12 steps).
4. Remove the stairs and use the terrain flatten tool to lower the ground in all of your basement. Start at the lowered tile and draw the tool towards the foundation walls. Lower it only to the inner walls of the foundation so that the terrain on the outside is not affected. The foundation will hide the slope.
If you did it correctly, you can now place walls without an error message or need of cfe.
5. Best make your floor plan now and place your stairs, they sometimes are a bit finicky.
6. Now use the foundation tool to remove the parts of the foundation, where you want to have your windows
and replace them with walls
Now you can place whatever windows you want. Just make sure that the green arrows point inwards (in direction of the lowered terrain), or the window might “jump” to adjust to regular terrain height.
You can decorate as you want, you can also place doors instead of windows and make a little “sunk patio” if you want to.
This is a quick texture replacement for baby food using the applesauce texture from The Sims 4 that I edited slightly. The texture size is increased from 128x128 to 256x256.
Place this package file in your Mods -> Overrides folder.

This is a collection of script and object mods that creates religions for Sims through the use of custom skills. There are two religions that Sims can practice: Peteran and Omiscan. Sims can pray/worship, make offerings, attend religious services and teach other Sims of their religion. The two religions are different and have different practices that you have to learn and can share. Peteran Sims can become priests which is a rabbithole career with active interactions where they can give live sermons, convert other Sims, ask for church donations and absolve Sims of their "sins".
This mod requires Battery's Script Utility, NRaaS Career (for the custom career), and CCLoader and the University EP for the custom herb to work.
Please read through all the documentation, there's a lot of information about the features and gameplay.
Download:
Necessary: olomaya_religion_Peteran.package, olomaya_religion_Omiscan.package, olomaya_banisteria_herb.package
Optional (but def recommended to get all the mod features): olomaya_PeteranReligion_Career.package, olomaya_PeteranBook.package, ATS3_object_sims4to3_jungle_amazoniteskull_Omiscan.package, ATS3_object_sims4to3_jungle_ancienttalkingstatue_Omiscan.package, Mspoodle_TSM_PeteranPrayerWood_Peteran.package, Mspoodle_TSM_PeteranPulpit_Peteran.package
The objects are courtesy of the very talented @mspoodle1 and ATS Sandy. You can basically just copy and paste the script into whatever objects you want to customize the aesthetics of the religions to your liking.
Thanks to: @misspats3 for all her testing, her work in putting together the extremely thorough documentation, and for pushing me to finally release this. I think this mod has been done for a year but I'm lazy. @zoeoe-sims for all her help with getting the custom skill to work with a custom career. SonjaA, @omedapixel, Alunn and others (again, this was so long ago I'm sure there's people I'm forgetting. forgive me!) for their testing and feedback. MsPoodle and Sandy for their generosity in letting me share new/alternate scripted versions of their work and for making cool stuff that makes me go "ooh, what if that were functional?"
Custom moodlets made with FlatIcons and GIMP and loaded using Battery's Script Template.
The mod has been tested with several players and I played with it for months but I'm sure me just saying that will produce a bug I've never come across so let me know if you find it!
Enjoy!
