don’t hate me but do you think james forgot the color of regulus’ eyes. do you think one day he stopped short, a random time, maybe he was in the kitchen, or walking through the garden. maybe he was on a mission, idk. but he stops, his breath catching in his throat, hands shaking, mind running in circles because he can’t remember. it’s only been a few months since his death, longer since the last time he’d seen him, but he can’t remember. he’s losing it, the imagine he’d had so carefully stored in his mind. he can still see it, but he can’t remember the precise color of his eyes. he knows they were green, knows in the right light they looks grey. but he can’t remember it.

Advice from Friends (1/1) (Jegulus)

A rather fierce practice had just ended. The last game for the cup was this coming weekend and James was running the team hard. He really wanted to win. But he also used quidditch as an escape and more than the end of term, moving on from Hogwarts, and the cup, his kind was swarming with thoughts. Thoughts of one Regulus Black. He couldn't help it, he was beautiful and cheeky, and mean but with a sparkle in his eye that James was positive was just for him. He touched like a gentle rain and kissed liked a storm. James could get him out of his head.

"Tough practice Potter," Marlene said as she feel in step with him walking back up to the castle.

"Right, sorry bout that... just really want to win," James muttered back.

"Oh don't even bother James. Come on tell Marlene whats in your mind," Marlene said bumping their shoulders together.

James' eyes went wide, and Marlene grabbed his arm gently pulling him to a stop. "James, somethings been bothering you for weeks now. You where you heart on your sleeve and I've know you for years. What's up?" She prompted again.

James' dropped his head. He took a deep breath, eyes trained on his sneakers. "Marlene," he began tentatively. "How - um how do you tell someone you like them without um, you know, being all showy about it?"

"I think Lily knows you like her James " Marlene chuckled.

"It's umm it's not Lily actually," James said. He looked up to meet Marlene's eyes, which were a bit surprised but soft. "Oh James, what did you do?"

"I just I really like someone and I'm pretty sure they like me back, but I want them to know I like them that way because I'm not sure they get the message that I like them and I just, I don't want to miss my chance Marls."

"Oh you are in trouble aren't you?" Marlene said sweetly. She put a hand on his shoulder, "James if you like them, and you want them to know, just talk to them. You could even ask them on a date," Marlene offered kindly.

"Right okay... they umm they doesn't really like crowds. But yeah I think maybe just being direct would help. He likes when people are clear." James said now looking off in the distance.

When he heard what he said his eyes grew three sizes and he turned to Marlene, who just pulled him into a hug. "I won't tell your secrets James but I'm glad you feel okay to share them with me. And I'm here if you want to talk about it more okay?"

James squeezed her back, whispering a soft thank you into her shoulder. She smacked his back as she pulled away, and then took off at a run toward the castle. "Race back to the tower potter, and if I win we cut practice in half tomorrow," she hollered, throwing her head back and laughing.

"Oh fat chance McKinnon!" James yelled back and took of sprinting passed her.

Sirius (seeing James and Regulus flirt on a quidditch match): Uh Moony, you know what they’re doing? Why isn’t Reggie getting the snitch? ITS RIGHT THERE!

Remus: I think he’s busy chasing Prongs eh Wormtail?

Peter: Dunno but Prongs is to busy talking Regulus to catch the damn quaffle…
