Face down in the dirt was not an ideal way to wake up at all. Chuuya would argue that there were a million other ways an places to wake up that were better than face down in the dirt. One such example would be in a bed, maybe on his side, in a hotel. The best case would let him know where he was. As it now stood, he had no idea where the hell he was.

Normally, in a situation such as this, the logical thing to do would be to get a proper bearings and stock of the situation at hand. Gathering intel should be top priority. How one goes about doing that varies from situation to situation. However, a groan on Chuuya's left had him turning to see what was going on.

Also face down in the dirt, a few feet away, was a kid he'd never met before, but that didn't stop him from recognising him. The kid had a very monochrome colour palette for being a part of the Armed Detective Agency. Chuuya had seen the kid's picture before because of the bounty that had been on his head, and he'd seen an illusion of him at the hospital not even a week ago, but he'd never met the kid. Jinko, for that was what he knew the kid to be called, was Dazai's new protegee. Was that a good thing? Probably not, but that also lead him to hold high expectations of the kid. He was being taught by Dazai Osamu, so the kid had to be at least as skilled as Akutagawa had been when he was under Dazai!

Much like a cat, the kid stretched out on the grass as if basking in the sun before he stiffened and looked over at Chuuya. He didn't make a sound.

Chuuya smirked smugly, "Have a nice nap, Jinko?"

The kid flinched ever so slightly at something before shaking his head, "Where..?"

"No idea."

"Hm." The two let the silence take over again. They'd never interacted before now, so they didn't have much to go off of.

A quick scan of the area alerted the two to no other human presences. There didn't seem to be any animals either. It was weird. Not weird in the way that Yokohama could bost, but weird in the way that there was probably something happening around them that they couldn't figure out yet. It was kind of like the feeling that they both got when Dazai was scheming, but this was somehow worse.

Still holding the distance between themselves, the two made no move to face each other. Chuuya quietly noted the use of common sense in the detective. They'd been enemies not a week ago, but they were the only familiar thing around. Better to have their backs to each other than to the unknown around them.

Jinko hissed something that Chuuya couldn't quite make out before he was pulling him into the tree line. "What the hell?" Chuuya glared.

Jinko shushed him before whispering, "Someone's coming." And wasn't that just swell. Though, Chuuya had to admit that the kid had good instincts. He hadn't even heard anyone coming yet!

A few minutes of hiding in the bushes, there was a break in the plants opposite where the two hid and a kid with - was that green? - green hair stumbled into the clearing. They were obviously injured, but not bleeding. Honestly, they didn't look like a threat at all. As they fell to the ground and pulled out a notebook, they were seeming less like a potential threat and more like and injured bunny.

If Chuuya was confidant in his intel on the ADA, then he knew that the kid beside him would not let this injured bunny be.

Predictably, the were-tiger left the bushes to talk to the kid. Unpredictably, he kept his distance and seemed guarded in a way he hadn't been before. Was it because this green haired kid was a new variable in a new equation? Probably, but that didn't make sense. Jinko was guarded against the kid like he was ready to run, but he'd left his back open to Chuuya, a known enemy.

Enemy wasn't the right word. The Port Mafia and the Armed Detective Agency had a truce, but it was shaky at best. It would take a while for all parties to get out of the headspace of what was basically an attack on sight order. Hostile was a better word to use when describing their current relationship.

"Hey," the were-tiger said, his voice soft but his stance was ready for a fight.

The green haired kid startled and looked up at the grey haired kid with wide eyes. They looked ready to run and cry at the same time. It was pathetic. It would get them killed in Yokohama.

"Hey," the were-tiger tried again, this time he lowered himself to the ground with his hands up in surrender. It was a compromising position should he need to fight or run. Chuuya shook his head. Maybe Dazia wasn't doing a good job teaching the kid. "I'm a bit lost, could you help me?"

The kid relaxed a bit when Jinko didn't come any closer to him. "Y-yeah. You're in Musutafu in the Chubu Prefecture of Japan."

That...was not where Chuuya last remembered being. He was fairly certain that that wasn't were Jinko last remembered being, either. The situation just got a bit more complicated.

To Jinko's credit, he took the information in stride. "Huh. Cool. I've never been here before," he said, "Could you tell me more about it?"

The green haired kid was almost completely relaxed now and Jinko risked scooting closer. The kid made no move to get away, so Chuuya made himself comfortable. He had the feeling this was going to be a long conversation.

Atsushi really wanted to wake up from whatever not-dream he was having now. He was certain that he'd fallen asleep in the closet last night after bid Kyoka a good night. So how in world had he gotten here?! And with Nakahara-san of all people! He was glad that the Port Mafia Executive hadn't attacked him when his back was turned. He was also a bit relieved to realize that they were both confused about what was going on.

The kid with green - honest to god, the kid had green hair! - hair was helpful, if not skittish. Not that Atsushi could blame them. Though, they were very forthcoming with information, so that was a good thing. It was a good thing that could get them killed in Yokohama.

Nakahara-san had stayed hidden in the bushes while he talked to the kid. He was glad for that. He'd never officially met Nakahara-san, but he'd heard stories from Dazai and whisper's in dark alleyways. Nakahara-san was a force to be reckoned with and Atsushi was beyond glad that they weren't currently trying to kill or otherwise maim each other.

To Atsushi, Nakahara-san was an intimidating person. He couldn't imagine how this kid would feel should the man come out of hiding suddenly.

Either way, he was gathering information from his only current source. He found out where they were, what time it was, a basic layout of the surrounding area, and some landmarks to look for. Most of it was tourist stuff, but it would be useful to him nonetheless. He wasn't anywhere near being a good detective and was still technically an intern at the Agency, but he'd read enough books as a kid - when he could - and asked Kunikida enough questions to know a bit of what he was doing.

He also was given some extra information that he hadn't been after. The kid's - male, he'd realized and quietly confirmed - name was Midoriya and he was in his final year before high school. Smart of the kid to not give away his first name. It was a Friday and schools in the Chubu prefecture had just let out for the weekend.

"I better get going," Midoriya gathered his things and stood up. Atsushi did so as well. "My mom will be wondering where I am soon.

"I understand," Atsushi smiled. He really didn't, but that would only bring up uncomfortable questions that he didn't really have enough training to lie his way through. "Have a safe trip home."

"I will, thank you, Nakajima-san," the kid bowed, "You as well!" Then he was gone.

It was quiet for a minute before the bushes behind him rustled. He didn't bother turning around because he knew who was at his back. Was this a good show of trust? He'd find out in a minute.

"Nice job, were-tiger." Nakahara-san walked closer to him, "I guess they are teachin' ya something at the ADA."

Now is when he turned to face the Port Mafia Executive. "Thanks, Nakahara-san."

The man raised an eyebrow. "How'd ya know my name?"

He shrugged minutely to feign indifference. "Dazai-san likes to talk when he's procrastinating."

Nakahara-san huffed a laugh, "Yeah, that sounds about right."

Another bout of quiet overtook them as the sun set. Finally, Atsushi said, "We're a bit away from home."

"Yeah."

Yokohama was their home. They worked against each other in the past, and are likely to in the future, but Yokohama was their home. It was their place to protect and serve in their own ways. Yokohama was also an independent city-state. It's boarders had been closed long before they'd even been born. Based on what Midoriya had said, they were very much outside of Yokohama. They didn't know what could get them killed here.

"Have you ever been outside the boarders?" Atsushi asked. He suddenly felt very small as he wrapped his arms around his torso and sunk into himself a bit.

"Never." Nakahara-san answered. He suddenly didn't seem as imposing as before.

"Oh."

Storyboard Part 2

BSD x MHA (cause it's been in the brain for a bit)

Mainly focused on SSKK and, surprisingly, Yaomomo.

The usual doozy of BSD!timeline being centuries before MHA!timeline, and SSKK somehow find themselves way into the future with little to know knowledge on how to return back home. So, for now, they gotta ride time. And thankfully, since they're in the future, it won't change time.

Cue Atsushi and Akutagawa going through the ropes of learning this world and evidently getting into UA High School.

But amongst the many students that were their peers, one catches Aktuagawa's eye, mostly because of how uncanny she looks compared to his sister Gin.

Yaoyorozu Momo, their class vice representative.

Fast forward, they as well as a few other students went to Yaoyorozu's estate to get some help for exams, which the ravenette happily offered her help. Of course, Akutagawa or Atsushi were fine, they've read a whole lot before joining UA High School (to understand this timeline) and are a bit knowledgable, so they were there for support and side-tutoring. (Unless it was math, they're useless when it comes to it). Finding some time, Atsushi and Akutagawa was able to wander around and explore the house, his permission happily granted by Yaoyorozu. And after a bit of wandering, he finds himself in a hallway full of portraits. A gallery wall, of sorts.

Without realizing, they began walking down, seeing the portraits of family after family, their names and dates imprinted proudly on plaques.

But upon coming towards the end, there was no picture nor plaque, just mere newspaper clippings and blurry photos.

"They were the very first generation of our family lineage." A voice suddenly calls, making both Atsushi and Akutagawa turn their head to see a a woman with platinum blonde hair walking up to them.

"They don't have pictures?" Atsushi asked, confused.

"We don't know," admits the woman. "Most of the beginnings of our family are shrouded in mystery that not even the oldest of history books could shed some light on their lives. And the closest we could to know their identities are the clippings and photos before you."

And that's what is causing the pair much confusion. Familiar newspaper clippings told of a hero that saved the city from certain disaster. Blurred pictures of a shadowed figure in alleyways.

It's them.

I like to hc that some kids in the Orphanage, maybe the older ones, were kind to Atsushi.

That they'd take the fall if they could knowing they'd get off way easier than him.

They all hate that they can recognise Atsushi from his screams alone.

They were warned, of course they were from the Headmaster and other staff.

That boy is no good.

But they'd all nod politely and shake their heads once alone.

Because the Headmaster was wrong.

Atsushi was a sweet kid. They'd make room for him to sit down, slipping a piece of bread into his shaking hands.

The staff never bothered to teach him even though they made him sit in all the lessons.

These kids would cobble their notes together and teach him how to read and write.

They were the only people to ever see his smile, to hear him laugh.

Those small moments of light kept Atsushi going.

And the day those kids left, having aged out the system they would gave him their numbers, sneak letters to him which kept him going.

Unfortunately because the Headmaster had adopted Atsushi, they couldn't take him with them which they would all regret.

But they'd never realise just how much they helped Atsushi.

The first thing he did when Dazai gave him his phone was call them.

Atsushi who tears up in suprise snd and overhelming relief and joy when every single one of them remember his name.

Atsushi remembers the abuse of the Orphanage, the cruelty of the Headmaster that's scarred him in ways even Byakko can't heal.

But he also remembers the kids who showed him kindness.

The people who looked at him and saw he was worth saving, worth love and support.

And Atsushi vowed he'd be that person to others, be the light in their darkness.

Because no one deserved to suffer alone.

Silly hc I have but I think atsushi can talk to cats. Like fully communicate with them. Small cats big cats literally anything in the feline family he can understand. But one day he runs into natsume in cat form and freaks out cause he cant communicate anything at all and that’s how he finds out who natsume is

> First time Chuuya uses corruption in front of the agency a part of his mind thinks, "That's it. They're going to be terrified of me now," only to be proven very wrong when he wakes up. The first person he sees is Dazai, which isn't new, Dazai has always been there after he woke up. Holding a mirror most of the time and saying, "Look what I drew on your face while you slept."

Then he blinks awake fully and he's surrounded by worried faces. Not scared, not curious but worried and when he sits up, they change to relief. Chuuya isn't sure what to do with the sudden burst of warmth spreading in his chest.

Atsushi is the first to leap at him. He hugs him, telling him how worried he has been. Kunikida pulls him away (you're crushing his ribs Atsushi) and sits next to Chuuya on the bed, patting his shoulder. Fukuzawa simply puts a hand on his head and Chuuya almost breaks down. He takes a pillow from behind him and buries his face into it. (This is how he manages his emotions. Everyone is used to it)

Ranpo, his partner, remains silently glaring at Chuuya until their eyes meet and Ranpo pinches his cheek. Hard. "Don't do that again!" He yells and says how he knew Chuuya had a bigger weapon up his sleeve that could cost his life but he didn't know it would be like this. Chuuya promises that he'd never use corruption unless Dazai is around.

> For the 2-3 days he stays at the hospital, Kyouka leaves her bunny plushie with him so that he won't feel lonely. Yosano comes to check up on him the most, asking him if he feels okay. Chuuya tells her that he's used to it. He didn't get treatment like this in pm and he survived just fine. Sad eyes stare at him. "You shouldn't be used to it. You were a kid." Chuuya is once again filled with painful emotions he doesn't know what to do with.

> Moving on from corruption, Yosano and Chuuya are best friends !! If you go to the beauty salon Sunday morning you'll see them getting manicure and pedicure together, face masks on their face as they gossip about the latest rumors.

Hc that the ada bathrooms' stalls are full of drawing and writing, both in women's and men's (and gender neutral if they'd have that) like in school. And it's mostly made by Dazai, Yosano, Ranpo and Naomi (sometimes Junichiro and Atsushi).

Like in the men's bathroom it's mostly horrendous shit like creepy ass drawings and the most cursed ass quotes so sometimes you hear giggling from one of the stalls-

And for the women's it's either psychopath, horrific ideas or cute, aspiring, thoughtful quotes and butterflies.

(Ranpo and Dazai write weird ass stuff there, and sometimes they have deep weird convos, and they draw creepy shit to go along with it and scare the other members who go take a shit.

Atsushi and Juni draw cute stuff and write meaningful quotes. Same for Naomi but she also draws cats and sometimes writes the most psychopathic stalker shit. And as for Yosano, she writes sadistic ass stuff all the time and they look great next to Naomi's butterflies.)

Sometimes sneaky clients write them if they have to go to the bathroom, sometimes even Lucy or Poe, maybe even Aktugawa and other mafia members so it's really just a thread between everyone-

atsushi has noticed that anytime he’s over at dazai’s dorm he seems a bit hesitant to let him go home, he’ll keep joking abt how dangerous it’d b for atsushi to leave so late despite them being a wall away, someway or the other he seems to be stalling atsushis departure. atsushi always saw dazai as a more secretive person so he doesn’t expect it out of him and thinks he’s just kidding around but the one time he does stay he notices how relaxed dazai looks, not the kind of lazy relaxation he exhibits when he’s ignoring his work at the office or listening to music but different. like it isn’t just his body that’s relaxed but his mind as well he looks much more at ease now that atsushi has agreed to stay

What if Atsushi met Chuuya instead of Dazai??

And Atsushi unintentionally followed Chuuya to the Mafia HC to which when he turned into a tiger alone with Chuuya, Chuuya treated him with the respect he ever rarely got when he was younger and now Chuuya just has a "pet" tiger and was just accepted as a respected member of the mafia

The mafia recognizes that they should not do anything to the tiger or Atsushi

Atsushi and Chuuya become close and at some point Atsushi meets Kenji and they become friends as well

Atsushi thought at some point it was okay to introduce Kenji to Chuuya

And thus forming a friendship circle of three people lol

the tiger is less friendly in general but super friendly with akutagawa

rashomon is also very gentle w/ atsushi

at some point atsushi just gets up and leaves yokohama (and the orphanage) and everyone he knows to deal with Everything and the only person who knows where he is is aku (and ranpo)

beast!atsushi is generally more soft spoken and calm than main universe atsushi and will go forever just not talking --- so sskk will be together and neither of them will talk

sskk date nights where they just do their own thing w/o acknowledging the other person

they dont move into atsushi's apartment, they get one together where there's room for atsushi to plant a garden (theres a fic about beast atsushi liking plants that is True to me)

akutagawa hates dazai but he never comments on the few things atsushi keeps as a reminder of him and always goes with him to visit his grave on the anniversary of his death

atsushi has a house husband moment during his self discovery phase

i want someone to explore atsushi’s relationship with food and going from barely eating anything and then starving to being able to eat whenever like idk much about anything human body related tbh

but is going from starving to having a healthy diet that easy ?

HC that even under Fukuzawa's ability Atsushi gets moody as it gets closer to the full moon. He gets more easily irritated and tiger features like his fangs and ears pop out more often than usual. Even though the president can suppress the full transformation Byakko WILL want to do kitty things on the full moon and make it everyone else's problem that she can't

Giant white tiger drags Kunikida out of the office because nope you will not be overworking yourself. You are going to sleep mister. And no one jumps into help Kunikuda because they agree.

And because it’s hilarious.

one time i dreamt that teen dazai was living with oda for some reason and oda was like ‘hey u can bring/buy anything’ and he meant like things for his room maybe even a pet if dazai really wanted one but dazai was walking around and found a little white cat but it ran away from him so he kept looking until he met a little orphan who looked like the cat to him so he brought him home and thats how oda met atsushi

one time atsushi came to the office (mayhaps after not sleeping well/at all for a few days), noticed that everyone was cooing over a cat that looked suspiciously like his tiger form and thought he was being replaced and cried himself to sleep that night

Random bsd thought: what if Dazai overall actually has the most basic music taste of the cast

Dazai hates big group events where everyone needs to go somewhere because if he’s riding in a car with Chuuya and Kunikida they’re playing queercore and folk punk and shit,

and if he’s riding with Akutagawa and Atsushi they’re playing depressing nu metal and emo classics

and Yosano and Ranpo only play like, bad bitch music,

and the black lizard listen to the most horrendous mixture of classical music, dad rock, and EDM because they just shoved all their songs onto one playlist and called it a day,

the Tanizaki’s and Kenji are a huge toss up but it usually ends up being musical theater…

and Dazai just wants to listen to like. The Barbie soundtrack, but no one trusts him with the aux cord no matter how much he promises he’s gonna play something normal

Like he’ll be in the back of a car texting Chuuya like “can I pleeeaasseee ride with you guys on the way back, Atsushi and Akutagawa have been playing EAT on repeat for forty five minutes and I’m gonna hear Poppy in my fucking nightmares for weeks”

And then he’ll get in the car after whatever and Kinikida grabs the aux and Dazai’s like “oh thank god, surely Kunikida of all people will have a normal playlist”

And then he sees Kunikida pull up a song called “vagina police” and crank the fucking volume and he realizes very quickly that his headache will not be going away any time soon.

•Atsushi has a reflex similar to a cat where he will slap someone if they surprise him, leading to him accidentally bitch slapping Dazai

•Atsushi has VERY strong teeth, one time Ranpo brought jawbreakers to work and gave Atsushi one, Ranpo then started talking to Yosano when they heard a loud *CRACK*, and just see Atsushi chewing on a jawbreaker as if it was taffy. Everyone just stared and Atsushi was confused. (Kunikida panicked)

•After he ate all that Chazuke in the first episode, he actually ended up vomiting because his stomach wasn’t used to that much to eat

•He used to bind with bandages, But when Kunikida found out, he taught him how to properly bind

•He chews on everything he can, strings, yarn, rubber, electrical cords, you name it. Atsushi is basically a cat in that sense, Kunikida has bought him teething toys for this

So Kunikida shook him awake, and in a soft tone said, “Cmon kid, you need to get up.” Atsushi mumbled and replied, “Just five more minutes dad….” Needless to say Atsushi got a lot more than five minutes, and if Kunikida cried, nobody said anything

•One time Kunikida arrived at the agency(He’s usually the first one there, only to find Atsushi there already started on work) Kunikida was very proud of him and pat his head

•Yosano made it her goal to get Atsushi to stop apologizing for everything, every time he does, she will stare at him until he takes it back

•Kunikida teaches Atsushi math whenever they have time

•Atsushi can only get drunk/high if something has catnip in it

•One time Atsushi broke a glass object at Kunikidas house, and in a panic attempted to clean it up with his bare hands, Kunikida comforted him and made sure he was alright

•Sometimes if someone praises him or pats him he will purr

•He likes sitting out in the rain, Kunikida scolds him for tracking in water, and raising the chance of him getting a cold

•At the orphanage he would take on a parental/Big Brother role for the younger kids

•He figured out he was trans when he was 13, after an older kid told him about it

The next morning Atsushi and Roberto ran outside to look for her, they saw something In the snow, and when they got closer they realized it was Yūkis dead body, she had died of hypothermia

•Roberto faked his death and ran away after this, leaving Atsushi all alone. I like to believe he ended up somewhere in Yokohama

•Atsushi loves strawberries, the first time he tried them he couldn’t help but just scarf them all down

•He can eat raw meat

•He has religious trauma, everyday at the orphanage he would pray that he would become someone worthy of life

•After Shibusawas murder, the headmaster fed Atsushi bits of his body. Atsushi was confused at the fact he was given more to eat and more often. He thought that he finally earned his right to live. He is completely unaware that he did this

So if Atsushi takes on byakos attributes during his partial transformation dose that mean he has a vagina in is weretiger form?

OK, so that's interesting. As far as I'm aware, Byakko doesn’t have a confirmed gender (I've seen people stating that Byakko is female in canon, but I couldn’t find any sources supporting that in canon at all; some people just treat it as such). I’ve also seen people say Atsushi refers to Byakko as male, but I didn’t find proof of that either. So, either the animators and the mangaka overlooked that detail, or they did so on purpose, either to keep the gender ambiguous or to hint that Byakko is actually a female tiger. Either way, your interpretation is totally valid.

If we go with the idea that Byakko is female, then it raises the question of how far Atsushi’s transformation actually goes. Does he take on all of Byakko’s physical attributes—not just the claws, fur, and fangs? If so, it’s possible his anatomy could shift to match hers. But since he’s never shown to fully transform (always keeping some human traits, except in episode 1), it’s hard to say if the transformation would extend that far.

So, I guess the real question is whether Atsushi just turns into any tiger or if he actually pulls from Byakko’s “DNA” and straight-up takes on Byakko’s body. But assuming that is the case... ENBY ATSUSHI!?
