What to do while waiting for your manifestation.
This is a very common question, so you decided you want to manifest something in your life, you got your affirmations down and now you’re repeating them every once in a while... but what do you do in the meantime?
Listen, if you’re feeling impatient or confused or any other way that makes you think about what you should be doing while waiting for your manifestation, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.
This is thinking from a place of not having your manifestation, from a place of having to wait for it. When you begin affirming these questions will cross your mind at first but do not give in to them, they are opposing thoughts just like any other negative one.
Whenever I got my manifestation I was very calm and living in the moment, not at all thinking about waiting or when it will come.
I made this post called "in defense of astrological timing," which I recommend if I do say so myself.
This post is full of my personal opinions and beliefs. This post does not intend to represent universal beliefs. This is really just about what I do and how I practice. YMWV.
I would like to propose that timing your magic, such as waiting for a certain day or hour to perform an operation, is a solution to the intersection of two problems:
1. "When I need magic, I need it now - I have no time to wait."
2. "I am often low-spoons and I have difficulty raising energy or performing intense magic on demand."
The tl;dr is this: sometimes astrological timing seems to be approached backwards.
It is often approached as playing catch-up to your own situation. "I can't delay in casting a spell, I need the magic now." Which is indeed a very valid argument.
Approached from the opposite direction, astrological timing is not a burdensome correspondence to tack onto a spell. Rather, it is revealing opportune times for you to gather and store power throughout the year, so that the next time a situation comes up, you've already had a huge head start in taking care of the problem.
This also assists those of us with limited personal energy (as I've begun to consider I am not a "low-energy" witch but rather one who uses their energy in the stupidest least effective ways possible).
For example, suppose a vital part of your sorcery is burning a special incense before each spell. Yes, you can make a whole bunch of the incense at once.
And if you enchant the incense, that takes your power. You're transferring energy out of your personal bank account in order to store it within the incense.
Three months later when there is a vital spell to be cast, you're making a withdrawal from the incense bank and putting that additional energy towards your spell.
Actions like this reduce the amount of personal energy we need to spend during typical workings of magic.
Suppose a spell requires 50 units of energy in order to successfully manifest.
Well, if I've been slowly storing up energy in certain things (like special waters, incense, stones, and so on), I can use up some of that stored energy during a spell.
If I have 30 units of energy saved up within special objects, I only need to raise 20 further units of energy during that spell in order to make it manifest.
I can expend my own personal energy to complete the quota. Or, I can go looking for some free-flowing energy and try to channel it in order to complete the spell.
BUT
1. What if I have no energy units saved up in objects and I have to raise it all within that moment?
2. What if the free-flowing energies I need aren't present at that exact time?
If you believe in the impact of astrological timing, then you may believe that certain energies are more available during some times than other times. A specific energy may not just be around in great enough quantities for you to haul buckets of it to your spell.
It's relatively easy to spend our own power when external powers aren't available, even when we don't mean to.
This may lead to situations where the energy units I need to complete a spell just aren't around, either because I failed to store up energy when I had extra, or because I'm casting the spell at a very unfavorable time.
If I don't have 50 free personal energy units, this greatly increases the chances that my spell will just fail - like a car with a drained battery that just won't start.
You might be saying, "but I don't necessarily have a total of 30 units of free energy to just tuck into objects. I might have like, 2 or 3 units of spare energy a week, tops."
NOW WE'RE BACK TO ASTROLOGICAL TIMING!
If you are able to look ahead towards particularly well-appointed timings, you can prepare substances (such as incenses and oils), objects (such as amulets and spell vessels), tools (such as charging boards and wands), and other magical paraphernalia far ahead of time.
We know all the future appointments, right? It's just celestial maths :) You can use websites to look up special conjunctions years ahead of time.
This means that you have as much time as you need to prepare. No rushing about an hour before the ritual!
When you bring a prepared physical vessel into a ritual at an especially powerful astrological time, huge amounts of specific, wanted energies can be captured.
So remember earlier, when I was talking about enchanting incense using your own power? Well, suppose you never intentionally use your own power for anything: you always attempt to channel external energies.
But we come into the same loop: it can be easy to spend your own energy on accident, and if the external energies aren't very present you either end up with a weakly enchanted incense mix - or you burn a lot of your own power being the battery, or widening your search for the energy until you find it.
During especially well-appointed timings, though, that energy is very present and much easier to capture. You have to work less in order to capture large amounts.
You can look for appointments for healing, banishing, the virtues of various astrological signs, wealth, love, and more. By preparing some physical vessel to be enchanted by these substances, you are gathering and storing great amounts of power throughout the year.
And now, now we come full-circle: a response to the first two problems posed.
1. "When I need magic, I need it now - I have no time to wait."
If you are able to work ahead to capture and store various energies, you will not have to wait for anything - you have already capitalized upon opportune timings and have them crystalized inside of physical objects for you to use when you need them.
2. "I am often low-spoons and I have difficulty raising energy or performing intense magic on demand."
Because capturing energies when they are more readily available is much easier, you may find it to be much less draining to capture energies at opportune timings.
Then, when it becomes time to cast a spell in the moment, you will have a collection of strongly empowered objects that will fill up your spell with power on your behalf.
Your spells will still take some of your personal energy, just like any activity, but probably a lot less of it.
I mean even if you're into it as a concept, it might not just be so easy to do, right?
If you're currently engaging in magical catch-up to ongoing or boiling-point situations, you might not have the time/energy/space to do a bunch of research on timings and then plan and prepare for a ritual, even one weeks or months away.
I don't mean to imply that it's easy or that everyone can just do it. I mean not all of us can carry around like 50 rocks or little pots of incense. Not all of us can rely on happening to have energy at some future date to perform a ritual at the exact time.
Moving into this modality of working ahead can also at times feel like stagnation: it can feel like planning and waiting instead of acting.
If you feel this might be something you're into, here are my suggestions:
Choose various "domains" of magic which are important to you: prosperity, love, defense, etc.
Slowly create or obtain vessels over time well-suited to capture energies from those domains, ideally using your hobbies if you can! A crochet bag or stuffie, a clay figurine, a painting, a song, any sort of physically creative hobby will do :) You can also modify candles, decorate charm bags, string beads, or even prepare thick cords to "tie up" available energies. I mean literally even a clear quartz with a bit of colored string tied on to identify it will do.
Start keeping an eye out for useful appointments. When one arrives upon you, see if you have the time/space/energy to perform a ritual to draw that energy into one of your vessels.
If you don't have the time/space/energy/interest (etc) in performing the ritual, ignore it and move on.
It is especially beneficial to empower small implements and ingredients you often use, so that your more common practices are less draining.
The following is pretty much UPG, unless I read it somewhere and forgot:
Initially imbuing a vessel with energy is best done on the most powerful appointment reasonably possible.
These vessels can be charged over and over again, capturing more and more power each time. Suppose the maximum energy you can capture in one empowerment ritual is 25 units. Well, you can perform the ritual again under the same auspicious timing to simply further power it, resulting in 50 units stored.
It is better to begin storing energy and do so at "minor" appointments over and over again than to put it off forever. Even if you wait for the most perfectest ever timing, you still may not have the ability, as a practitioner, to channel and store huge amounts of energy all at once. So waiting forever might be kinda pointless.
All vessels enchanted in this manner should be carefully stored so that the power doesn't leak out of them. They should not touch the earth, or else the power will go back into it. They can be wrapped carefully in black cloth and stored on a shelf. They should not be in the presence of salt, flour, iron, or other substances known to purify or break magical energies.
Falling in love and identifying birds have similar effects. Normal life is altered; every experience heightened; what was mundane begins to explode with meaning. You think birds are just birds—undifferentiated fluttering, then you find one magnified in your lens. You recognize its unique markings, lines, and color. Your heart pounds. It is a cerulean warbler. It is your new mate. I believe both things have equal power to change your life.

I've mentioned a few (several?) times that I'm trying to rework my practice to be so much lower energy.
I want to practice a lot. My path has responsibilities and demands. I want to be engaged in witchcraft daily and often.
As a part of this I have had to really sit down and untangle the question of chronic magical fatigue, which then turns in to chronic regular fatigue.
I've come to some personal realizations during this quest. Here is one of them, which I would like to suggest as a concept or hypothesis but not a literal truism:
One of the most vital and basic energy working techniques you can learn is feeling how full your "mana tanks" are.
Magical battery, odic fluid, witch-power, whatever you want to call it. It's finite for all of us (even if for some it can recharge faster than they can use it).
I have yet to see a "daily practice" or "101 energy work guide" provide a resource on how to feel how much magical energy you have, and explain how to avoid over-spending it.
I have also never seen a 101 guide ever really explain that "energy-gathering" techniques which are meant to recharge you are in and of themselves draining.
Techniques which refill your mana tanks are often the same techniques as energy raising and energy programming.
E.g.: "Pull energy up from the earth" (energy raising) "and guide it to your spine, imagining that it refills and recharges your whole body" (energy programming).
This is an actively draining technique.
The only passive energy-gathering technique I'm familiar with is just resting.
As humans, this should be common sense! Eating food requires energy (to find food, to prepare it, to consume it) and then can further tire us as our body redirects resources to digestion.
As humans, when many of us get older, we start to realize our physical limits. You know how far you can get in the day on a single bagel. And for many of us, if you've pushed past your limits, your whole day is thrown off. Refueling might make you crash and nap, not suddenly fill you up with a huge burst of energy!
Yet somehow it's pervaded the 101 energy working sphere that a certain energy-gathering exercise - which drains your magical power - will just fill you up and you can do as much magic as you want again. Warnings about not over-exerting are usually like, "take it easy! Only do 1 or 2 minutes if you can't do all 15, or even take the day off ;)" but no actual instructions about how to feel out your limits and know how to reliably stop before you over-exert.
I think that for a lot of people it would be helpful to divide their energy-working abilities into two categories: Muscle and Fuel.
Your energy working Muscle becomes stronger over time. It has its own muscle-memory, and repetition of techniques can allow you to do them faster and better over time. This Muscle behaves very much like your earthly muscles: it burns fuel to work, but it also becomes fatigued and even damaged with over-exertion. It requires regular periods of rest. Once pushed to the point of fatigue, the necessary period of rest becomes a lot longer.
Your energy working Fuel can be thought of as the little magical calories floating around your energy body system. These units of energy are refilled and recharged as we do normal things like eating, sleeping, and engaging in restorative mundane activities. This Fuel doesn't do anything on its own*. In order to utilize it, you have to engage your Muscle. The more that you work with Fuel-collecting and Muscle-using, the more efficient your energy body system becomes at accepting, processing, storing, and expelling Fuel. You can use your Muscle to collect Fuel and store it inside your energy body.
No matter how much Fuel you have, once your Muscle is fatigued, you have to rest.
I can run a marathon (no I can't, but imagine with me) and be totally exhausted. If I eat an entire pizza, will this allow me to suddenly run another marathon? No, of course not!
Now, let's imagine that nobody brought a pizza to me, but I had to walk down to the corner shops to buy one - now, my poor muscles can barely hold me up. Energy-raising exercises still require you to flex your Muscle, and if it's already fatigued, you are probably just shooting yourself in the foot.
Your Fuel and Muscle are not automatically synchronised. And I think a lot of us out here are abusing our poor Muscles, demanding they work again and again and again, not understanding that they need literal periods of rest - hours and days to be allowed to relax, heal, and regrow to a stronger state. And I think a lot of people do believe that just by Refueling, their Muscles are supposed to "magically" work as if they just came of a week of rest.
In my beliefs, this Fuel and Muscle are the same ones we use for divination, spellwork, and spirit contact :) So if you're trying to do tons of these things all the time and thinking that a grounding exercise can replace rest, you're probably literally just… running yourself into the ground.
I would like to propose that if you are having a really hard time dealing with fatigue and energy levels when trying to engage with your practice**, you should learn two techniques: A way to judge the fatigue of your Muscle, and a way to judge the fullness of your Fuel.
Either of these things can be accomplished with a pendulum on a number line (using a pendulum requires usage of your Muscle, by the by!). Bodily sensations may tip you off - I get a strained feeling in my forehead when I'm close to over-exertion. You can also induce a psychic technique, such as asking yourself where you're at and waiting to hear, see, know, feel, or understand where your Muscles and Fuel are at.
I would also like to propose that metaphysical energy gathering can actually be so tiring that it might be inappropriate for everyday use. Raising a ton of energy and infusing it into yourself or objects for later use is a full day's activity, not a quick act you can shove into a morning routine. I'd like to clarify that here I differentiate between energy-raising, and meditative techniques which provide a "grounded," present-moment focused state of mind.
If you're taking suggestions, I would recommend figuring out how much magic you can do before you achieve a state of 50% Muscular fatigue/Fuel exertion, 75%, and 90%. I believe you shouldn't push past your limits. It just hurts. It feels bad, it's exhausting, and it takes exponentially longer to rest and heal. And I think many of us will be surprised at how little magic we can accomplish when we respect our limits.
*Some people who experience a great over-abundance of personal energy do have weird stuff happening around them all the time; it's the metaphysical equivalent of a cat rubbed with a balloon and set loose in a Styrofoam factory.
**Here, I mean people who notice marked upticks in exhaustion and fatigue when working magic, not people with baseline fatigue which just carries forward.

Dichetal Do Chennaibh is an altered state which is achieved by chanting or reciting a repetitive pattern, usually appealing to the gods. It is also reciting a repetitive text to create a form of egregore. He gave the Breton name kentel.
Close to the mantra: which is a sacred hymn, a mystical formula, a magic incantation, a condensed formula, formed of a single syllable or a series of syllables, repeated unceasingly with a certain rhythm, in an exercise of meditation or for religious purposes, in Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism.
As an abstract conception of the aspects from which the manifestation arises, the Dichetal Do Chennaibh is inseparable from the gods with which it identifies. The power of a divine being resides in his name, in his formula, which is the means by which the worshiper can establish contact with the god and it is by means of these sounds that his presence becomes real.
Verbal formulas can be presented in the monosyllabic form or in the form of a text where all the words begin with the same accented syllable. It is essentially rhythmic and makes it possible to redouble, on the phonic level, what the god represents. It is a call to the deity invoked since his name and some of his attributes are cited in these incantations.
For examples :
- In Gallic for Bel: BELEINOS, BELENOS, BELINOS, BELOS, BELISAMAROS, BELA
"Brilliant sun, splendid and brilliant, great very clear, shine"
- In Gallic for Belisama: KANEMI, REGANI, DEONA BELLISSAMA
“I sing the royal, Flaming Goddess”
- By invoking the name of the oak, preceded by the name of the Ogham, in the different Celtic languages (Gaulish, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Breton): DUIR DERUOS, DUIR DAIR, DUIR DARACH, DUIR DERW, DUIR DERV

Magical incantation, causing a form of altered state used by seers to access visions, and reserved for the filid highest in the druidic hierarchy, the Ollamh.
The clairvoyants totally isolated themselves from all sensory inputs, sounds, lights and feelings. The "file" chewed a piece of red meat which he then placed on a stone as an offering to the gods, then he made an incantation to induce dreamlike sleep. The next day, he had to repeat two incantations, he placed the palms of his hands on his cheeks and remained so until he fell asleep. The imbas forosnai sometimes takes the form of a prophecy: "Medb, queen of Connaught, is preparing to invade Ulster when she meets a woman who says her name is Fedelm and comes from Scotland, where she learned the "science of the filid". The queen, having made sure that the woman knows the science of illuminations, questions her about the outcome of her military adventure. Three times Fedelm predicted defeat, but Medb refused to believe the prophecy.

Satire which, by the mere fact that it is pronounced, is enough to provoke the event it announces, with all its consequences. The satire indiscriminately targets a warrior, a king, a queen or any individual who refuses to bend to the will of the caster. Fate, the natural elements
then gang up on the victim. O'Davoren's glossary says that "standing on one foot, using only one hand and covering one eye is the position to have to do the dicinn glam". If death strikes the victim, it can, if it is unjust, turn against the one who uttered it.
-------------------------------------------------------
It requires putting the thumb in the mouth… Touching a man, animal, or thing about which the question was asked and then chanting an invocation
Teinm Laegda is a state achieved through relaxation and clearing of the mind in a ritual environment. This usually involved using some sort of magical tool such as a knife, sword, or staff. Sometimes the druid had to touch the subject (if alive, usually on the head) or
directly manipulate an object to find out what secret knowledge was contained within it. This information can be events in a person's past life, a detailed story of who and what happened to an item, or even how and why the subject was enchanted. A spontaneous flow of information and/or poetic verse could accompany the first
contact.

Fairly common in Irish tales, they are found as tynged in Welsh myths. A geis is not necessarily negative, and has the force of law.
The druid pronounces the incantation at the birth of the future warrior or during his military apprenticeship. During his existence the king or the warrior finds himself under the obligation to infringe the prohibitions concerning him, under penalty of losing his honor, it is the announcement of his imminent death. The violation of the
prescription causes the violent death of the warrior.
Only a druid has the power to raise a geis.
These geis are very diverse; sometimes it is a warrior who receives the prohibition to tell his name to an adversary; Mael Duin cannot take three companions beyond a number determined by a druid; Noïsé was forbidden to come to Ireland in peacetime except with three men: Cúchulainn, Conall and
Fergus. Fergus had been given the law never to refuse an invitation and not to leave a feast until it was over. Cúchulainn was obliged never to pass near a hearth without stopping there and accepting food there; he was forbidden to eat dog.

a little tip. use words & phrases like "always", "yes", "already", "ofcourse", "it's a fact that", "i know that" to make your affirmations feel more natural & acceptable to you. for example -
i am always being spoiled by everyone
yes i am irresistible to everyone
SP is already head over heels in love with me
ofcourse i am the prettiest woman ever
it's a fact that i manifest instantly
i know that i earn a thousand dollars everyday
also!!! write your own affirmations. don't use anything you find on the internet. ofcourse you can take ideas but customise your affirmations according to how you would naturally have your inner conversations - tone wise, language wise or even by changing several words. affirm what resonates most with your god self!
To attract the best version of yourself, and to center yourself in preparation for future blessings.
Anywhere between 45 minutes to 1 hour: depending on your preferred bathing time.
This spell uses bay leaves, if you are allergic to any of the materials I encourage you to replace the materials with ones that represent the same meanings as the originals. Please do not place yourself in harm’s way to complete this spell the way I have it written, the Craft is different to each of us, and should be explored in accordance with our own magic and not the magic of another.
2-3 Bay Leaves: representing protection, boosting, prophecy, purification, defense. In this spell representing seeing your future self, the self you desire to be currently.
Vanilla Scented Candle or Tea Light: representing healing, protection, harmony, unity. In this spell representing centering yourself to accept the changes ahead.
Fire/Flame: representing empowerment, enlightenment, comfort, rebirth, inspiration, illumination, hearth and heart, manifestation. In this spell representing finding your shadow self where it is now in the darkness, and bringing it back into the light.
Quartz: representing clarity, cleansing, healing, purification, and inner peace, enhancement, amplification. In this spell representing protecting yourself from negative energies around you that may be blocking your aura from reaching it’s full potential.
Bundle of Palo Santo/Sage: representing cleansing. In this spell being used to cleanse the energy of the water, as well as your own energy to prepare it to be reimbued with new purpose.
Run the bath to desired fullness and temperature. You should be able to at least submerge yourself mostly in the water, it is okay if you cannot fully submerge all parts of your body as most standard tub sizes are quite small.
Gather all your materials close to the bathtub with you, but do not yet get into the water. Once all your materials are gathered, disrobe before beginning the spell.
This spell is incantation-based, and you will need to cast it with intentions in mind, as well as in order by incantation.
Begin reciting the incantation all the way through without interruption, first in English, then again once more in Latin. Both versions are included below these steps.
When following the incantation the physical steps done in time with the recitation should be as follows”
- Crumple the bay leaves. Sprinkle them clockwise into the water of the bath. Do not stir it. If your drainage system is poor or if you are uncomfortable with bathing with the herbs later, feel free to simply place them in a sachet and stir the tub with the sachet before leaving it in the tub for the rest of the spell.
- Light the Palo Santo/Sage. Use the lit Palo Santo to first cleanse yourself. Everyone does cleansing a little differently in accordance with their practice, but if looking for inspiration: I cleanse by first running the lit bundle across my whole body and then drawing the sign of Lilith on my abdomen in smoke. Then proceed to cleanse the water by tracing the outline of the tub in a clockwise fashion as many times as feels best to you.
- Light the Vanilla Candle. Place the candle on the side of the tub where your head would rest, but do not enter the water yet.
- Pick up the Quartz and hold it in your dominant hand, place your closed fist over your heart, and begin stirring the tub clockwise with your non-dominant hand. Continue to stir the tub holding the quartz against yourself until you have fully finished reciting both the English and the Latin versions of the incantations.
- Once you have finished the reciting portion of the spell, step into and submerge yourself in the water, make sure to get every piece of your body covered even if not all at the same time. For example, splashing water up onto your arms and back, or laying down briefly to dip your head into the water. Leave the candle burning until it either burns down, or you are finished with your bath, in which case please gently snuff it out.
- When getting out of the bath, stand up, and before stepping out or beginning to drain the water, close out the spell. You can do this in any way you please, so long as the meaning is the ending of your casting. Many people choose to say “amen”, “thank you”, or may also choose to praise a chosen god/goddess/spirit guide for closing a cast. I personally do not have a token deity in my practice, so I close my spells with the simple “So Mote it Be”.
English Version:
In water’s mirror, I am found.
Floating as leaves towards my true self.
The smoke and scent draw me in,
To clean and steady my soul against the winds.
There I am amongst the ashes,
Safe & Sound in crystal crevices.
Latin Version:
In speculo aquarum invenior.
Flocci versus mei vero.
Fumus et odor trahunt me,
Ut emundare et stabilive contra ventos animam meam.
Ibi sum inter cineres,
Incolumis in crystallis cavernis.
