I’ve seen a lot of discourse about Jegulus in this fandom and I want to give my opinion on it. Before I get into this I would like to say: no hate to any Jegulus shippers. You’re entitled to your own opinions, and I could care less about who you ship as long as it’s not pedophilia, incest, etc. This is just my opinion.
I really hate Jegulus for multiple reasons:
First off, it completely destroys their characters and makes 0 sense for both of them.
James was strongly against blood purity and the Potter family were labeled as blood traitors. He was invited to join the DE by Voldemort and declined (JKR confirmed this was 1 of the 3 ways he betrayed him.) Not to mention he betrayed Voldemort 2 other times. Plus, he was friends with Remus, a half-blood werewolf and Sirius, a blood traitor Gryffindor. Do you really think the Marauders would still be his friends if he suddenly dated a blood supremacist? Imagine if you’re a POC and your white friend dated a racist. Or if you were Jewish and your German friend dated a German N@z! supporter.
Regulus was strongly for blood purity, seeing as he made a shrine dedicated to Voldemort and the DE. This means he would’ve hated Muggleborns, half-bloods, half-breeds, and blood traitors.
Not to mention Sirius. Regulus probably loved Sirius since he asked Kreacher not to tell his family about the Horcrux, and Sirius died not knowing about it, but that doesn’t mean Regulus was a good brother when Sirius was still around. In his youth, Sirius would’ve hated Regulus because of Walburga and Orion’s favoritism. The Potters took Sirius in and James adopted Sirius as a brother. He would’ve hated Regulus because of the way Sirius talked about him. And considering that Sirius hated Regulus as kids, he would be very hurt and angry with James if he suddenly got in a relationship with him.
Second off, Jegulus and Jily can’t work in the same timeline. Lily would never go out with James if he dated a blood supremacist before her. If a white guy asked me to date him, and I knew he dated a white racist before me, I would be horrified and shocked and immediately say no.
And don’t even get me started on the HC about a poly relationship between Lily, James, and Regulus. I’m sorry, but that’s a very disgusting HC to have. Muggleborns are an allegory for Jewish people and DE are an allegory for N@z!s. It’s just like Dramione/Drarry, just Marauders Era edition.
The only way I can see Jegulus or a poly relationship between Regulus, James, and Lily working is in an AU where Regulus was always good, but that still changes him entirely and throws away anything canon about him.
I think a lot of people use Jegulus as a way to give Regulus a better redemption arc. But honestly, using love as a redemption arc doesn’t work and is just lazy writing. We see this with Snily and even Grindledore, to an extent. I think Regulus should’ve been given a better redemption arc but using Jegulus to do so makes no sense and isn’t a good way to fix JKR’s terrible try at a redemption without obsession.
*Remus's computer makes a noise.*
Remus: "Oh, fuck off! I'm running low on the will to live right now, but I'm not going 'bloough, bloough!' every 3 seconds, am I?"
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BREAK MY HEART LIKE THIS?!?! WHYYYYY?!?!
(┬┬﹏┬┬)(┬┬﹏┬┬)(┬┬﹏┬┬)
Wolfstar tattoo headcanon
Remus has a tattoo of the Sirius constellation on the inside of his arm and it glows brighter or darker depending on Sirius’s mood.
And Sirius has a tattoo of the moon on his palm that reflects it’s current phase so he never forgets when the full moon is.
When Sirius was trapped in Azkaban, Remus’s stars fade to a dull, ashy grey. He slowly loses hope that the stars would ever glow silver again.
Sirius stays awake on the full moons staring at his palm and imagine Remus out there somewhere, in agony, without Sirius.
I love this, I really do
She was in her office working late one night when she heard tapping on the window; it was an owl, carrying a letter labelled « Minnie »
So of course she knew who it was from
ngl she teared up a little at the thought that Lily and James were getting married, in spite of the war, and that they’d invited her to the wedding
She wondered for a (very short) while if it would be appropriate for her to attend her former students’ wedding, but oh who was she kidding - this was James Potter and Lily Evans, of course she was going
She showed up in a long bottle green silk dress, and a high bun with green feathers sprouting from it
Of course Sirius was the first to spot her when she arrived
He offered her his arm (« you look ravishing tonight, Minnie ») and escorted her to her seat
She didn’t even try to conceal her tears during the ceremony
she was so proud
later Marlene dares Sirius to ask McGonagall for a dance
Sirius looks offended
« I don’t need to be dared to ask Minnie for a dance! I was going to anyway! »
« Minnie, would you care to dance with me? »
« Mr Black, I hardly think this would be appropriate! And may I ask again that you stop using that name! »
« Come on Minnie, you know you love it. One dance? »
*deep sigh from McGonagall*
« Alright, Black. One dance »
Sirius winks at James as he dances with McGonagall
James is dancing nearby with Lily
He looks so betrayed it’s comical
« Excuse me Lily I must go dance with Minnie right now »
Lily rolls her eyes
« sometimes I wonder if you don’t love her more than you love me » she groans
but she smiles and goes off to dance with Alice
James approaches Sirius and McGonagall and clears his throat
« excuse me, Minnie, do you think I could have this dance? »
Sirius looks bewildered (« uh, mate, can’t you see I’m dancing with Minnie?? »)
« Ah, yes, Padfoot, but this is my weeding. I do what I want »
To their surprise, McGonagall nods, « you know, Black, Mr Potter’s got a point.. »
James smirks at Sirius, who stares at them for a second then stomps away mumbling to himself like the drama queen that he is
McGonagall may tell James how proud she is of him while they dance
James may find his eyes to be a wee bit watery for a second
After a while, Sirius reappears
James starts to make a speech about how Sirius should quit trying already (« I am the groom, Padfoot, therefore I am the one who gets to dance with Minnie » *severe eye-rolling from McGonagall*)
but Sirius cuts him off by saying « Prongs, I didn’t come here to ask Minnie to dance with me. I came to ask you. »
« Oh. Well in that case » — he turns to McGonagall — « Minnie, if you’ll excuse us »
James takes Sirius by the waist and they start dancing
Almost half an hour later, Lily sits down next to a grinning McGonagall and sighs « you know, sometimes I wonder if he doesn’t love him more than he loves either or us »
I’ve seen some people say that Remus deserved to get fired from his job because he put the students in danger when he forgot to take the Wolfsbane potion, which is sort of true.
However, I don’t think it’s a valid reason to fire him because when has Hogwarts ever given a flying fuck about student safety?
In Harry's 1rst year, he was forced to go to the Forbidden Forest AT NIGHT as a punishment for sneaking around at night. there was the Devil's Snare, Chewy, a chess board that nearly killed them, and the DADA Professor had Tom on the back of his head.
Then in 2nd year, Tom possessed Ginny, a Basilisk was going around petrifying students, and Lockhart was going to erase Harry and Ron’s memory and let Ginny die.
In 3rd year, there were dementors flying around the school
Don’t even get me started on Quidditch, because that game is a safety hazard as a whole. I mean whose idea was it to invent iron bludgers to hit people, while they’re flying mid-air. And who thought it was okay to let children play that sport?!
And let’s not forget that Tom literally killed a student and he still wasn’t expelled.
I don’t think I need to explain anymore…
I will always believe that the only reason the Weasley Twins weren't Slytherins is because JKR was too busy demonizing us.
The traits of Slytherin are resourcefulness, determination, ambition, pride, cunning, leadership, and self-preservation.
1. Resourcefulness: They grew up poor, so they definitely learnt to make the most of what they had like their siblings.
2. Determination & Ambition: They had ambitions to be successful businessmen in the joke shop industry and were determined to achieve their goal no matter what anyone else said.
3. Pride: They are very proud of their work and are proud to be known as the infamous mischief makers at Hogwarts who could give even the Marauders a run for their money.
4. Cunning: Cunning isn't always a bad thing. As stated before, they were the most infamous pranksters at Hogwarts in their era. They were extremely cunning.
5. Leadership: They were leaders in terms of ideas. They inspired others (an example being them leaving the school causing students to follow in the twins footsteps and play pranks of their own.)
6. Self-preservation: As we saw with our very funny, very handsome, very dead friend, "Dead Fred", and our other very funny, very handsome, very one-eared friend, "Gorg George", self-preservation isn't their strong suit, but I think everything else fits for them.
What's your opinion on this?
You've all heard of tall Remus, but what about tall Sirius? I like to imagine Remus was around 5'11, and Sirius was around 6'3.
Imagine Sirius pulling Remus close to him and wrapping his arms around him when they were outside, and it was cold.
Imagine Remus stealing Sirius's t-shirts and clothes. Sirius would lose his mind when he saw Remus wearing clothes that were a little too big for him.
Imagine Sirius purposefully stealing Remus's books and holding them just out of reach. He wouldn't return it until Remus said "I love you" and kissed him. By the time the book was within reach again, they were both preoccupied with... exercise activities {if you know what I mean (;}.
Imagine Sirius sneaking up behind Remus and throwing his arms around him to pull him close and sway him while he bombarded his Moony with kisses.
Just... tall Sirius. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk <3.
Stucky is cool, but I like angst. So, what if Bucky and Steve loved each other, but they never told each other because they thought it was unrequited love, and admitting their feelings for one another would just lead to a ruined friendship.
That would explain why Steve stayed so obsessed with Peggy and wanted to go back so desperately. Not just because he was homesick for the 40s, but also because he did have feelings for Peggy. And while his feelings for Peggy weren't as strong as his love for Bucky, it was better than being trapped in that torturous cycle of waking up everyday and yearning for something he thought was never there.
Okay but imagine one day, Arthur does this while out with Ron and Harry and a stranger goes, “Why does that one have black hair if everyone else has orange?" And Harry gets really embarrassed and starts to say, “Oh I'm not his-”
Only to get cut off by Arthur who says, “He's adopted :)"
Now imagine the same thing happening with the Potters and Sirius.
OUCH MY HEART-
You’re wrong if you think James Potter and Arthur Weasley didn’t walk around carrying a whole ass photo album of their families in their wallets 24/7. You’re wrong if you think they didn’t show off these pictures to random strangers on the street. And you’re wrong if you think they didn’t get all misty eyed because they both loved their families more than they loved life itself.
Imagine how hard it was for Remus to see Sirius die. He had to accept the fact that his best friend, his lover, his soulmate, was dead on the spot so that he could save Harry.
Not only that, but Harry looks almost identical to James, so Remus probably felt like he was holding back James in that moment, not Harry.
You're On Your Own Kid is just such a Marauders song.
James: "From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes/I gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this"
Sirius: "I hosted parties and starved my body/Like I'd be saved by a perfect kiss"
Peter: "The jokes weren't funny, I took the money/My friends from home don't know what to say"
Remus: "I looked around in a blood-soaked gown/And I saw something they can't take away"
