The lively bustling of the street carried along with the scent of butterbeer wafting from the Three Broomsticks, and the colorful banners of the nearby shops fluttering in the gentle breeze.

The elder of the Black brothers had a way of gliding through the crowd, weaving between people with an ease that suggested he was both part of the city and apart from it. Dark hair fell in tousled waves, framing his angular face, and every now and then, each step purposeful yet relaxed seeming both casual and deliberate. The jacket was adorned with subtle silver studs along the collar, catching the light as he moved. Underneath, a simple white t-shirt clung to his form, the fabric soft and slightly worn, hinting at countless adventures. His jeans were dark and fitted, frayed at the cuffs, revealing a pair of scuffed black boots that seemed to have stories of their own etched into the leather.

The laughter of the engaging collective around him soaked the aura of their carefree demeanor, a stark reminder of everything Severus despised the closer they got towards each other, until -- [ ... ]

The air between them crackled with tension, and for a moment, the laughter of the other students faded into the background. Sirius’s eyes narrowed, and the playful facade slipped away, revealing a flicker of something more serious. Uncomfortable silence, and the reality of the situation settled over them like a heavy fog.

'' Snivellus, '' Sirius replied, his tone dripping with mockery at the mention of infamous nick. Shouldn't the Dungeon bat stay geared toward self-preservation? Apparently nah, be there Prong(sie) he'd be far from staying idle. ' I really hope you've had your fun. ' Sirius’s grin faltered for a moment, replaced by a look of mild surprise. Eyebrow quirked, amusement dancing in his eyes, '' Oh? I always have mine that's for sure ... should I be asking what brings you to this side of Hogsmeade? Looking for a potion to cure your perpetual sourness? ''

For no particular reason someone distantly stared at one of {older} Black's tattoos.

The grey entity's stare was as intense as any other personage's hiding behind the facade of the shadows. Where streaks of eyelashes would shut firmly during an instant moment, the austere exhale of air (accumulated in his cheek) would melt away any hint of tension on his visage. Subconsciously his palm tracked the pierced epidermis in absent rub over the area of the anonymous focus. Sirius could clearly feel where that stare aimed.

The left side of his neck. It carried something; a symbol carved in the flesh.

“ If you're staring at /THIS/ and even plan to ask about it, ” he quickly assumed whilst pointing digit at the tattoo, “ don't expect any good stories coming your way. That day I had more booze in me than I dare to remember. All about it; blackout. ”

It sounded convincing, didn't it? Maybe, or very likely -- not. Sounding like if he just remembered one of adventures during days of his youth. However, what Sirius brought up in a small cascade of harmless lie had a story much dreadful behind the markings of his tortured body. One thing never changed with elder Black, and that is -the urge to act a bit bratty whenever questioned about some of his bad experiences.
