the answer is no. I don’t shut the fuck up about him😘
Can we give the JJBA OVA (Stardust Crusaders, 1993) more appreciation?
I mean the episodes are great, they hold up pretty well and I have to admit that I enjoyed some of them more than the more recent adaptation.
The action is great
The pacing within the episodes is okay and I honestly wish that we got the entire story adapted by the Studio(s).
The animation, ohhh the animation, I am in love. I‘m not afraid to admit, that I may be a little biased, considering that I LOVE 90s animation.
The majority of the character designs is really fun and I love how Joseph looks even more like an old Indiana Jones in this.
The dynamic between the characters is great as well and the voice actors do an excellent job.
(Bonus point: the monkey with the strengh stand is not a total creep)
Overall Review: go watch it if you haven‘t already!

I just want to talk about an absolute masterpiece:
Aliens (1986)
I could talk about this film for hours. I‘m not kidding.
I consider it one of the best pieces of media ever created, in my opinion it has everything that a good film needs:
The characters & their relationships with each other are perfect
The created atmosphere is immaculate
How Ripley deals with her trauma from the first movie is portrayed very well
The action is great (typical 80s but still)
The camera work & acting is perfect
The lighting fits the genre and topic of the film
The (practical) effects used are top tier
And most of all: the Alien designs, the queen, the warriors, etc. are sooo perfect
I‘m not afraid to hide that I‘m a sucker for the found family trope and this film gave me everything I needed. I have watched Aliens countless times by now and I still cry in the end, the bond between Hicks, Ripley, Newt and even Bishop is one of the sweetest in all of fiction (to me at least).
When I first watched Alien (1979) I was amazed and thought that the second movie would be a typical horror sequel (poorly written, worse than the first one and an uninspiring rip-off), but Cameron proved me wrong.
I was so wrong. I instantly fell in love with this film and consider it to be even better than Alien (1979) if that‘s even possible.
If one film deserves all it‘s praise, it‘s Aliens!
i love you ellen ripley i love you original alien franchise i love you profound loneliness of being the final girl in space i love you practical humanity i love you greed is the enemy i love you unstoppable cosmic atrocity getting blown into the vacuum by a desperate, terrified woman in her underwear i love you going back for the cat i love you lack of recurring characters other than the xenomorph meaning ripley’s only constant company in her whole life is her worst nightmare i love you true bravery in the face of true terror i love you janky 80s hardware i love you smoking in a spaceship i love you wet, sticky, slimy organic technology i love you heroine eventually becoming the alien i love you forced motherhood ending in infanticide i love you short hair buzz cut sweaty scared femininity i love you human emotions turned base turned raw turned dangerous i love you penetration pregnancy i love you hubris as a parasite i love you unstoppable entity i love you normal woman turned god
Dave Mustaine as Torchy Thompson in Black Scorpion
Quick appreciation post for „Pumpkinhead“ (1988)
I was pretty amazed by this movie, I saw it a few years back and just came to think about it again when I finally bought the DVD today.
Honestly I expected a very bad film, but got a mediocre / good creature horror movie. Idk if I would consider it a very good one, but it‘s that kind of movie that you can put on when you are doing your laundry.
First things first:
I love the practical effects on the monster and the design. The concept was interesting but got boring halfway through, tho I have to admit that I like the ending a lot.
Spoiler warning:
Eds (Lance Henriksen) sacrifice was not too heroic but still fits the tone of the film very well. Bonus points for the teaser at the end, that he became the next creature.
And what more can I say except for the fact that Lance Henriksen does a great job as always.
Is this a controversial opinion: the typical 80s flashes add a lot of charm in this movie, sometimes you notice them right away and think of movies like alien or one of the other milestones, but on other occasions you notice them subconsciously, which adds a lot of atmosphere and sometimes even tension.
The film isn‘t scary per se and the deaths are sometimes nearly hilarious (yes I‘m looking at you: Son who „dramatically“ died. I may want to add: even though this was the most impactful death, it was also the worst one. I didn‘t understand that the boy died until the end of the film…), but you can still enjoy it when you when you don‘t look into things deeper (imo).

Best episode imo
It‘s peak comedy
the oingo boingo episode will never not be funny to me
some guy trying to kill five other guys and their dog all for his slut vampire boss follows all the weird instructions from his little brother's magic prophet book, turns an orange into a deadly explosive, panics when backed into a corner and impersonates one of the guys he's trying to kill, gets into a car with them, does such a fucking terrible job at impersonating the edgy loner op 17 year old, somehow doesn't raise any suspicion between the dummy thicc grandpa and the big titty frenchman, eats five cigarettes, acts like he has to take the biggest shit imaginable to escape, only to get blown up by the same orange bomb the flattop frenchman hurled out the window.
I want to see more appreciation for the Load albums on this app
