I Just Want To Talk About An Absolute Masterpiece:

I just want to talk about an absolute masterpiece:

Aliens (1986)

I could talk about this film for hours. I‘m not kidding.

I consider it one of the best pieces of media ever created, in my opinion it has everything that a good film needs:

The characters & their relationships with each other are perfect

The created atmosphere is immaculate

How Ripley deals with her trauma from the first movie is portrayed very well

The action is great (typical 80s but still)

The camera work & acting is perfect

The lighting fits the genre and topic of the film

The (practical) effects used are top tier

And most of all: the Alien designs, the queen, the warriors, etc. are sooo perfect

I‘m not afraid to hide that I‘m a sucker for the found family trope and this film gave me everything I needed. I have watched Aliens countless times by now and I still cry in the end, the bond between Hicks, Ripley, Newt and even Bishop is one of the sweetest in all of fiction (to me at least).

When I first watched Alien (1979) I was amazed and thought that the second movie would be a typical horror sequel (poorly written, worse than the first one and an uninspiring rip-off), but Cameron proved me wrong.

I was so wrong. I instantly fell in love with this film and consider it to be even better than Alien (1979) if that‘s even possible.

If one film deserves all it‘s praise, it‘s Aliens!

Best episode imo

It‘s peak comedy

the oingo boingo episode will never not be funny to me

some guy trying to kill five other guys and their dog all for his slut vampire boss follows all the weird instructions from his little brother's magic prophet book, turns an orange into a deadly explosive, panics when backed into a corner and impersonates one of the guys he's trying to kill, gets into a car with them, does such a fucking terrible job at impersonating the edgy loner op 17 year old, somehow doesn't raise any suspicion between the dummy thicc grandpa and the big titty frenchman, eats five cigarettes, acts like he has to take the biggest shit imaginable to escape, only to get blown up by the same orange bomb the flattop frenchman hurled out the window.

(for anyone who‘s wondering this is from the 1997 anime adaptation, Episode 13)

Can We Like Talk About „the Invasion Of The Body Snatchers“ (the 1978 Version)

I’ll be very vague so no explicit Spoilers

I have so much to say about this movie, as I recently rediscovered my love for it (I‘ll make it short, don‘t worry):

1. The characters, omg the chemistry. Usually those disaster / invasion movies tend to sweep that under the rug and just run with destruction and all that. But here you can truly feel with the characters, the fear they have of losing their loved ones. The resulting performances are great, particularly in that one particular Scene involving Matthew & Elizabeth in the grass (iykyk)

2. The cast. I‘m a sucker for Jeff Goldblum and he crushes his 10minutes of screen time. AND AND AND fucking Leonard Nimoy??? Give me any sci fi / alien movie with Mr. Spock and I‘ll love it. Donald Sutherland as the main Character is amazing, he gives off such an incredible „hard/dismissive“ performance all whilst still being so cute with Brooke Adams and his other friends, showing the audience, that he really does care.

3. The effects are amazing, the scene with Matthew in the Garden of his home is so terrifying and disgusting because of the sound, camera and effect work

4. The ending is omg, I could cry

5. the basic concept is something we have seen before but the execution and little adjustments (the way the aliens take over and alert one another) is just so unique and disgusting

This is not all I have to say but I promised to make it short

Can we give the JJBA OVA (Stardust Crusaders, 1993) more appreciation?

I mean the episodes are great, they hold up pretty well and I have to admit that I enjoyed some of them more than the more recent adaptation.

The action is great

The pacing within the episodes is okay and I honestly wish that we got the entire story adapted by the Studio(s).

The animation, ohhh the animation, I am in love. I‘m not afraid to admit, that I may be a little biased, considering that I LOVE 90s animation.

The majority of the character designs is really fun and I love how Joseph looks even more like an old Indiana Jones in this.

The dynamic between the characters is great as well and the voice actors do an excellent job.

(Bonus point: the monkey with the strengh stand is not a total creep)

Overall Review: go watch it if you haven‘t already!
