Can we all just take a minute to think about and recognize Dazai’s reaction if Atsushi is the one transfered to the port mafia?

All I’ve been able to think about recently is how much Dazai would blame himself. He’s failed another one of his mentees. He didn’t really save another orphan for Oda. The only thing he did was prolong the inevitable.

I think in a way, it might also force Dazai to start to re-assign where he places his own allegiance and who he remains loyal to after those he trusts and cares for all move so far away from him.

He’s already failed Akutagawa, something which Dazai undoubtedly has mixed feelings about given how loyal Akutagawa has remained to Dazai through all their years, and now the person he was using as a form of redemption has left him.

I also think it’ll all be worse if Dazai were ever to see Atsushi kill, or if Atsushi’s introductory clothing item was a coat like Akutagawa. In that way, I think it’d be a sort of final bell informing Dazai that he had properly and totally failed. That his redemption was worth nothing because he couldn’t even save one person he cared about from the mafia.

He might even see a bit of himself in Atsushi, depending on how the weretiger’s early months and years in the mafia go.

It’ll all just be so much worse for Dazai because at the end of the day it never really mattered.

all those images of atsushi with glasses leads me to pitch imagine atsushi was visually impaired and was subconsciously relying on the tiger's sight to see normally and didn't realize he needed glasses until dazai stopped him from jumping kouyou and he went damn why is she so blurry now

I LOVE THIS IDEA.

Any excuse to put Atsushi in glasses is a good excuse!

I can totally imagine Atsushi squinting whenever Dazai activates his ability on him. Everything gets blurry, and he’s just confused as to why that is. He probably doesn’t realize at first that it’s all thanks to his ability, which has been compensating for him all this time. It’s like a slow realization as he starts to piece things together. Cue a flustered Atsushi realizing it.

Once it does settle in, however, he would be teased a bit by Dazai for sure, but in the end, he might even tag along with Atsushi to get his eyesight checked and get him his glasses, even if Atsushi’s never going to use them much.

Additionally, a little headcanon I have that this reminded me of: Atsushi’s eyes are actually purely purple, so every time Dazai’s ability is activated on him, his normally purple-gold eyes are just solid purple. The yellow is a physical cue of his own ability, and also the reason why his eyes turn fully yellow when it is in use.

Everyone in the Port Mafia learns to fear the new Boss.

Chuuya snaps at the slightest of things and where he once treasured his subordinates. He now looks at them now as nothing but tools.

Just another piece on the board for his revenge.

Some whisper that the old boss never left. That Dazai simply took on a new form and rotted the new Boss from the inside out. For where Dazai was ruthless Chuuya is cold and cruel.

The Port Mafia would’ve crumbled the moment he took the throne. The only reason the organisation stays afloat is because Chuuya’s not alone.

Atsushi is a permanent fixture by his side.

He takes on so many responsibilities along with being the main line of security. He overseers each and every sector of the Port Mafia and is the one people then to with issues.

Atsushi’s blood is Mafia through and through but there’s a light in him that shines amongst the darkness. A kindness that makes itself known in private and while his smile is a rare sight.

It is always genuine.

What’s most incredible about him though is that Atsushi is the only one who can calm down the Boss. His hand finds his when Chuuya’s angered, gently running a thumb over his knuckles.

When the Boss is one of his rages, when he’s at the brink of it all and no one dares get near him. There is Atsushi at the door, his smile is worn and his eyes tired.

And he crosses the room and holds the mad man in his arms. Begging for his partner to return, he holds him through the storm and then sends for food and water.

Sometimes you hear Chuuya, quiet and horrified as he begs for his forgiveness. That it won’t happen again, that he’s sorry and he loves him.

But those days become further and further apart.

No one in the Port Mafia dares to bad mouth Atsushi, not that anyone ever could. They hear him cry in the dead of night and feel their hearts break for him.

The White Reaper walks the halls like a ghost waiting for the day death finally reaches him. He will never leave for he’s chained himself to this place.

And the mad king who rules it.
