Surely this year, my good friend Jonathan Harker is gonna get the hot girl summer he deserves.
Dracula season started again so enjoy this little thing in which I accidentally gave Jonathan a bit of a mullet
"I felt in my heart a wicked, burning desire that they would kiss me with those red lips. It is not good to note this down, lest some day it should meet Mina's eyes and cause her pain; but it is the truth."
I note here that Jonathan does not think he must protect Mina because she is frail or weak. Nor does he wish to keep secrets from her. Rather, he feels shame at his desire that is unworthy of one who is so loved and knows that that desire may cause intense pain. However, he records it anyway, believing that that is something important, perhaps even sacred, in telling the truth.
Bram Stoker wrote Mina Harker phenomenally then everyone else has been trying to "fix her" and falling flat on their face tripping over their own clown shoes
Me anytime I get a notification from Substack that isn’t Dracula Daily: this isn’t my dear friend Jonathan Harker >:(
"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."
Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.
Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.
At the end of this month we'll be rescheduling all the Re: Dracula episodes for re-release on their dates! If you're part way through your Dracula listen now would be a good time to finish OR just wait and rejoin the fun in May.
At the same time, we'll be moving the Re: Carmilla episodes to their own rss feed! These won't be re-released on any schedule, just moved over. If you're part way through your Carmilla listen, don't fret, you won't have to wait.
the offseason’s coming to a close, dracula be upon ye
got hit by 12 cars and died. sory. all at once. no traces left behind. I think one of the cars was carnivorous
in dracula there is a cowboy and the female lead lives. in nosferatu there is no cowboy and the female lead dies. ergo, the existence of a cowboy is highly important for the survival of the female lead in a gothic vampire story.
