Atsushi giving someone in the ADA a dead bird or mouse or something, and they throw it away because, obviously, it's a dead animal what else are they supposed to do with it? and Atsushi is so freaking hurt over it, like yeah his human brain gets it, but his heart is still broken, because that was a present and he worked so hard to give it to them and the rest of the ADA just stares at the person who threw it away like they're absolutely scum for throwing away Atsushi's present as Atsushi tries not to cry in the background.
Atsushi who acts cat like but only when he feels safe.
He curls up and fall asleep during an agency movie night with his head on Kyoka's shoulder.
But only after Kyoka noticed how tired he was and shrugged, patting her shoulder.
Atsushi tries to subtly chase mice until Fukuzawa just let's him go nuts, just try not to make a mess.
Atsushi only sits up on his desk at work if given the okay from Kunikida.
Once becoming friends with Akutagawa, Atsushi once chased after Rashoumoun and Akutagawa just rolled his eyes fondly at his apology and said it was fine.
Atsushi may not have known it but the Orphanage probably punished him for ever acting "like that wretched tiger."
To the point Atsushi subconsciously can't act catlike unless he feels safe.
Because he's afraid he'll get punished for it, even if he doesn't remember why he's so afraid.
A (kinda sad) idea: Atsushi makes a tiger kitty noise in front of someone and loses it panicking because he’d get punished for making those noises at the orphanage.
I WOULD SNUGGLE HIM SO HARD
headcanon that atsushi is obsessed with blankets and can often be found wrapped in like six of them
OH MY GOD ANON I SUPPORT YOU 100%. THIS BOY NEEDS ALL THE BLANKETS IN THE WORLD.
• Back at the orphanage it was rare for Atsushi to be shown any sort of physical affection, and he was regularly found hiding in dark corners or inside his closet to avoid the abusive staff members. It’s only when he gets to the Agency that he starts sleeping in an actual bed – and a comfortable one at that!! For the first few weekends when Atsushi gets some time off, he’ll just roll up under his covers of his futon and stay there for days. • When he has nightmares or there are times where he is reminded of his past, Atsushi pulls his blankets around his body and cocoons himself in the warmth they offer, the comfort of the soft sheets reminding him that that isn’t his life anymore and he’s allowed to feel warm and safe. • When he’s sick he’ll walk around the house wrapped in a huge fluffy duvet and just rest on the sofa all day until he feels well enough to work again. • Cuddling Atsushi under the blankets would be 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻• He’s like a human radiator oh my god can you imagine the purring • LET THIS BOY FEEL LoVE DAmn iT
Recently discovered that when you (try to) chuff at tigers, they chuff back at you, regardless of how horrible your chuff is.
Imagine Dazai coming across this online and testing it out on Atsushi.
Dazai's face lights up when his pathetic attempt at a chuff works and Atsushi gives him the most adorable chuff back. Meanwhile, Atsushi, who chuffs back on instinct is confused but overcome with affection for Dazai.
Atsushi giving nonperishable foods to those they cares about.
He learned how to make various kinds of jerky because the tiger kept hunting and just leaving carcasses in people's homes. So, Atsushi's loved ones often wake up and just see a fuck ton of jerky in their houses, or mass amounts of cans and other various non-perishables on their chairs
(The Japanese art concept of giving human characters animal ears and tails is called kemonomimi! And did you know that tigers don’t purr, they chuff?)
“Stop laughing.”
“I’m not.”
“You are. It’s in your eyes.”
Ryuu looks away quickly, placing his hand over the lower half of his face. Atsushi sticks his lower lip out.
“Now you’re covering up a smile,” he mutters. Ryuu coughs once, happening a glance back to Atsushi before he quickly turns to face the wall again, closing his eyes.
“How dare you accuse me of such things, Jinko,” he says. Rolling his eyes, Atsushi leans across the futon to swipe Ryuu’s hand from his face. For a split second, he sees the smile on Ryuu’s lips, a rare sight that Atsushi would normally welcome. But in this case, he groans and draws back.
“C’mon, Ryuu, it’s not funny,” he mumbles, crossing his arms over his chest. Ryuu glances at him once before giving a cough that sounds oddly like a snicker.
“Your tail is lashing,” he points out monotonously. Atsushi bristles, an emotion that’s only further emphasized by the fur on his tail sticking out in all directions.
“Imagine if you got hit with that Ability,” he says, round ears pinning back against his head. “Rashoumon would practically have a mind of its own.”
Ryuu coughs again, leaning forward, and Atsushi doesn’t realize until it’s too late that he’s reaching for his ears.
“Yes, but,” Ryuu says, rubbing Atsushi’s velvety fur between his forefinger and thumb, “this is far cuter, I believe.”
Atsushi blushes, and though his fur settles, his tail continues to swipe back and forth. He isn’t sure how long he’ll be stuck like this, with his Ability on the fritz and his ears and tail manifested, but he hopes it ends soon. Asking for Dazai’s help is out of the question; Atsushi wouldn’t hear the end of it for weeks. Months.
“You’re patronizing me,” Atsushi grumbles, shoulders bunched and knees crisscrossed beneath him. But Ryuu takes his fingers from his ear, moving down to the space behind it, scratching there, and Atsushi’s tension seems to suddenly and miraculously leave his body. He relaxes under Ryuu’s touch, closing his eyes, turning into butter in his fingers.
Ryuu abruptly stops, and Atsushi looks up to ask what’s wrong, but Ryuu stares down at him with something bordering on playful in his eyes.
“What was that?” He asks. Atsushi tilts his head, subconsciously cat-like.
“What was what?”
“You made a sound.”
Atsushi frowns. “Did not.”
“You did. You chuffed,” Ryuu says, the tiniest of triumphant smiles on his lips. Atsushi narrows his eyes.
“I did not,” he says again. “I’m not so much of a tiger that I’d-!”
He stops the instant Ryuu begins to scratch beneath his chin. Atsushi closes his eyes again, leaning into Ryuu as if some other force were controlling his body, smiling and definitely chuffing.
“Good kitty,” Ryuu murmurs, kissing the crown of Atsushi’s head as he scratches his chin with both hands.
Atsushi’s tail gives the occasional, satisfied twitch.

Headcannon that the Agency learn things about Atsushi's past not from Atsushi telling them.
But from the behaviours he exhibits that are very tiger like.
Because while many make sense to what they've researched, some don't. They dig deeper, and realise these are behaviours found in animals who've been kept not in the wild.
But in captivity.
And they can put together as detectives that Atsushi's exhibited these behaviours practically his whole life.
They don't know that Atsushi was literally raised in a cage and kept as a prisoner for most of his life.
But the behaviours he shows are evidence that he's been held captive, or something akin to that for a long time.
Such as how restless Atsushi gets when he has to sit or stay in one place for long periods of time.
Atsushi fidgets a lot. But he's grown comfortable enough to just get up and pace around the office in one big circle.
Which he will do repeatedly.
Atsushi also constantly messes with his hair, adjusting and re-adjudying his tie, despite it being fine. Ranpo reckons if he was in tiger form it'd translate to Atsushi fixing his fur over and over.
It really makes them all concerned, because just how long was Atsushi kept captive for this all to be second nature to him.
And more importantly how do they help.
(Dunno how accurate these are, not a tiger expert but I tried my best.)
Hc that atsushi's pupils dilate like a cats when he's happy or excited
Or when he's fighting his eyes narrow into little slits and he hisses
And when he's eating or looking at akutagawa his eyes get really big
Atsushi canonically isn't kind by nature (see Wan ch. 19), but that's okay because you don't have to be motivated by kindness to choose kindness, which is why Atsushi is the narrative's beautiful princess with a disorder anyway.
