Atsushi Who Acts Cat Like But Only When He Feels Safe.

atsushi is at least a little bit plural-coded in bungo stray dogs: dead apple. to me

hc that atsushi finds the nearest soft item and starts kneading it with his hands when stressed because it calms him

i like to think that Atsushi can faintly smell people coming,

he can smell some green tea whenever Kyoka walks by, the sickly sweet candy smell Ranpo reeks of whenever he pops out of nowhere, and sometimes even a faint smell of white lillies of Dazai every now and then

with that being said, he can easily recognise smells he deems safe (safe being the agency) and smells that make him more alert, so he doesn't get jumpscared when an enemy suprises him, but could jump 40ft into the air if Kenji walks up behind him

let the tiger also be a part of the agency dammit

Finale kinda crazy. Ending even crazier. Was that actually him. Also. Atsushi's fangs were beautiful. I wish we got more Atsushi with tiger traits. I literally die of happiness every time I read a fic where he chuffs, or scents, or lays in sunbeams. The mental image of him getting hugged by Dazai or Kunikida and just getting so happy that he lets out a breathy chuff is just SO CUTE. Don't even get me started on Atsushi kneading. Don't even get me started on Atsushi expressing his affection like a tiger w/ the ADA. Atsushi and ADA platonic love is actually amazing.

Tiger instincts in not tiger body + Atsushi being sassy is just.... peak fiction. My favorite thing to read. Red in Tooth & Claw on ao3 is LITERALLY THIS and the best fic in existence. When it updates every 7 days it literally makes my week. I love it so much. I love Atsushi so much...

i like to imagine byakko only lets dazai transform her back to atsushi in ways she likes to bully him

if u dont know, my general headcanon is that byakko still overtakes atsushi completely during full moons (i mean... weretiger) but she's no longer aggressive becuz atsushi is no longer abused/alone/in danger so she just hangs around, takes walks, goes hunting, tries to eat ranpo, ya know the normal stuff

but sometimes if atsushi is scared or anxious or stressed, she'll just take over, especially at night time (weretiger i mean come on) but like still, she's chill

anyway a lot of the time she takes over and the ada get called in and need atsushi or just need atsushi back for whatever reason, dazai has to use his ability on her

and she's surprisingly nonchalant about it... kinda

dazai: okay byakko, lets have atsushi bacmphfasdfj

byakko, stalking forward to slap her paw against his face:

byakko, calmly walking over, getting on hind legs to place her front paws on dazai's covered shoulders:

byakko, leaping of whichever building she was on to run full speed at dazai and tackle him to the ground, transforming back to atsushi in the process:

sometimes she's nice and puts her face against dazai's and gives him a little greeting or lets him try to pet her or grabs the end of his coat and starts dragging him away or bites his hand or sits on him or sits still and lets him transforms her back

i like to think that atsushi has longer nails that are maybe a little sharper than normal when he isn’t transformed. little leftover tiger influence yknow?

I want a Fic where the ADA (or at least Dazai and Atsushi) head out to a convention, and Dazai’s in his Doggo costume, challenging Atsushi to let out his catboi features.

And then of course fluff and crack. Our favorite kitty learns that, well, being a kitty can be quite nice sometimes, outside of battle.
