Headcanon that the tiger causes Atsushi to consume more calories/energy doing literally than normal people so his coworkers are always making sure he’s eating enough (especially difficult because growing up in the orphanage taught him to not eat a lot)

Headcanon A:  realistic

He keeps a notebook about all his new experiences living in Yokohama, but rather than focusing on the fighting and bad things, it’s mostly filled with recipes for different foods and drawings of random things he’s seen.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

Since tigers can’t purr, when Atsushi is in his tiger form, he chuffs, and he makes this noise a lot in his sleep in his human form as well when he’s having a good dream.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Despite all his efforts, he will probably always have days where he feels like he’s useless, and days where he can’t stop thinking negatively.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

As a small child, Atsushi only turned into a tiger cub when he transformed.

i like to think that Atsushi can faintly smell people coming,

he can smell some green tea whenever Kyoka walks by, the sickly sweet candy smell Ranpo reeks of whenever he pops out of nowhere, and sometimes even a faint smell of white lillies of Dazai every now and then

with that being said, he can easily recognise smells he deems safe (safe being the agency) and smells that make him more alert, so he doesn't get jumpscared when an enemy suprises him, but could jump 40ft into the air if Kenji walks up behind him

let the tiger also be a part of the agency dammit

Get ready for a slew of Bungo Stray Dogs hcs because I'm so fucking hyped from the trailer. I'm not sure if I've done this before and Tumblr's search function sucks ass but here are some Catboy Atsushi hcs (With some Shin Soukoku) because I am a firm believer that if there's an animal-type character then they should have animal traits

-When he cares about someone he'll do the slow blink, but all the other person can see is Atsushi staring at them kind of intently, blinking slowly, and then returning to his work like nothing happened

-He purrs when he feels comfortable and safe. This could be if someone plays with his hair, curled up before he goes to sleep, situations like that. But it was something the orphanage punished him for so he tries to repress it as hard as he can. When the agency finds out they think it's the cutest thing possible and always try to elicit that response

-He bunts, the thing where cats drag their jawline against something they care about. The first time he does it to Akutagawa they both freeze and Akutagawa just kind of stares at him for a moment. Atsushi promptly realizes what he did and starts panicking and apologizing profusely. Akutagawa's not entirely sure what happened but he thought it was cute, not that he'd ever tell him that of course

-If completely left alone his nails will naturally grow into claws but they were always cut by the headmaster, often cut back so short his nail beds would start bleeding. He still cuts them back

What do you think would happen if Atsushi tried catnip

Not a question I was expecting to get, but sure! Let's brainstorm.

It would definitely start with confusion—him being cautious when he gets a whiff of something interesting. He smells it before he sees it. But when he finally finds it, he takes it into his hand and sniffs it. Atsushi has no idea what it is, but it smells... interesting.

Then, of course, in a moment, it finally kicks in. He starts to feel relaxed, maybe even a little bit loopy. Meanwhile, Dazai, being who he is, takes full advantage of Atsushi’s state, messing with the younger. Kunikida is a bit concerned but doesn’t insert himself into whatever the heck is happening.

Soon after, the playful side kicks in. He could even start rolling around on the floor, acting more cat-like—on zoomies. He might try to steal Ranpo’s snacks. He better not run into Akutagawa, or he’ll get stabbed. He would definitely knock stuff over, and his ability might go a bit out of control—transforming parts of himself before it fades again. Naomi probably recorded all of this.

After that? Sleepy time. He might curl up somewhere in a sunspot, completely blissed out. Once he snaps out of it, he’s straight-up horrified. He’ll be begging for the videos to be deleted. He won’t be able to handle it.

atsushi doesnt like storms becuz all alone in the cage the loud noises scared him but its okay now becuz dazai and ranpo noticed so dazai holds his hand when its storming so the loud noises arent as loud and ranpo gives him candy and yosano bought him noise cancelling headphones and kunikida makes him hot chocolate and fukuzawa gives him a weighted blanket and junichiro calls him every time it says its gonna storm to let him know and kyouka sits by his side so he knows he's not in the cage and akutagawa tried to fight the sky (he was a little tipsy when he first learned)
