Not gonna say it again
The problem w writing fiction is that you'll be like tee-hee I'm going to write a story about a fucked up little scenario that's got nothing to do with anything in real life, just some pure messed up nonsense, and then you finish it and take a step back and go aw rats I made a metaphor again
"It's time to face reality, Doctor. You're a man who dreams of being a hero, because you know deep down that you're not."
Pretty crazy thing to say to the man who saved your life with the sheer power of his love, devotion and forgiveness but okay-
okay but there is something disquieting about this urge to cast fan writers as altruists. they give us all this for free!! well, no.
they’re sharing
it’s a key difference in perception. fic isn’t given. it’s shared. it’s part of a fandom community— in which readers are also an integral part.
it’s probably inevitable mission creep from the increasingly transactional nature of the internet and fandom-as-consumerism, which was always gonna happen after corps worked out how much bank there is to make from those weirdo fan people
but like. fandom is sharing. i think we’ve lost that somewhere.
why the fuck would I use AI to make background graphics for my fandom projects, when I can instead spend multiple hours using five different editing programs to make a single gif ! duh !!
oh i hear ya, i’ve sewn professionally, I know about these guys. but see that’s exactly thing though– we basically only ever see him using the invisible laser gun, on fabric he is holding in his HAND! handheld stitchers are like, extremely limited in what they can actually do compared to a machine (and cutting table, and iron, etc) It’s just SO funny that star trek’s idea of future sewing was like, well one guy on the station gets a handheld magic gun that does everything 😌
(I bet it presses seams somehow too….)
changed my url. @/simpletailoring was great but I really want us to focus on the important stuff: the stupid fucking gun my favorite lizard uses to sew
what is that. there's literally no way it's actually stitching. what do y'all think this thing doing is please tell me
Thinking about my favourite autistic augment burying himself in fantasy. Living through maladaptive daydreaming. Only ever unmasking while ostensibly alone. Of Garak forcing his way inside in Our Man Bashir, demanding Bashir to let himself be seen. Then unmasking so much of himself in that episode as well, doing it to push Bashir away and challenging him because he does think they're too different. Only for Bashir to rise to the occassion, silently saying - it's ok, we're the same.
