The tumblr version of russian roulette is when you find a good post and realize theres like 50 unnecessary comments under it so you go to reblog it from the person before the first unnecessary comment and hope to god they’re not a freak
hey gaud, i hope this isnt an insensitive question, but what exactly is a sensory issue? i think it has to do with things like being unable to hear chewing/swallowing (aka hell) but im not actually sure
not insensitive at all, and thanks for asking <3
in the original post i was referencing sensory processing disorder, which is very common among autistic folk. i’ve only done limited research, but it’s my impression that sensory processing issues can be comorbid with/a subcomponent of a number of other mental health issues. basically, it’s a good conversation for the neurodivergent community to have!
different sensory stuff can cause trouble for different people. E.g. your example of the sound of chewing/swallowing. some common sensory issues I’ve seen people talk about:
sound of styrofoam
sound of utensils/ceramics/plateware/etc
chalkboard & nails (very common one!)
fingernails scratching on certain surfaces
the compulsion to ‘balance’ out footsteps, physical actions (such as blinking, hand gestures, etc). for instance stepping ‘too hard/not hard enough’ on one side and needing to ‘make up for it’.
the feeling or sound of rough surfaces
feeling of old/dirty/wrong fabrics
those are some of the more common ones, but there are plenty of others. often there’s no predicting it–it’s a nuisance, but there aren’t always rules!
God’s real name is Klaus and he’s a mess
Ben: Do you think there’s a God?
Klaus: Well, somebody’s out to get me.
I have two cats and I Can Confirm they are like that.

if you get tested, isolate yourself (from the public and from others in your home) until you get the results
wear your damn mask
remember to change a mask daily, or buy a reusable one that you can wash
wash your hands for at least 20 seconds every time you get a chance to
after you touch something in a place that's not your house, use a hand sanitizer
don't touch your face until after you wash your hands (sanitizers don't count in that case)
keep away from people. even if you know them, even if you trust them, even if both of you wear a mask, stand at least 2 meters (6 feet) away from anyone who doesn't live with you
even if it's a hoax (which it's not, but okay) - the worst thing that'll ever happen if you follow these guidelines is that you'll have a funny cloth on your face. i'd prefer that happening to me instead of me or a family member dying. what about you?
