Okay, so I finally downloaded the Sunberry Village mod and let me just say, it was totally worth it. Iβve been eyeing it for a while, and after seeing all the gorgeous screenshots and hearing people rave about it, I knew I had to try it out for myself.
That saidβ¦ I did have to remove East Scarp from my mods folder. As much as I adore that mod, my poor little laptop just couldnβt handle everything running at once. (RIP, memory.) But hey, itβs not goodbye forever just a temporary pause until I get a proper upgrade. Hopefully soon! (Also, fun fact: I heard that the Always Raining in the Valley mod was integrated into Sunberry Village now, so if youβre like me and want to pursue Sterling, youβll find him here instead. One more reason to dive in!)
Now letβs talk about Sunberry Village itself, what a gem of a mod. The new map is just chefβs kiss! Lush, vibrant, and full of cozy details that make the whole place feel alive. The NPCs are super well-written and diverse, each with their own personalities and stories. And there's even marriageable candidates here. Iβve already had a few cutscenes and honestly? Iβm hooked. I can tell a lot of love went into their design.
Thereβs also tons of new places to explore, including little hidden spots and secret passages that make wandering around feel like a proper adventure.
And yes, they even have their own mines! I tried them out and Iβm kind of obsessed. Every level has a fresh layout, different biomes, and brand-new vibes. Itβs not just your average mine crawl, it feels like stepping into a different world with every floor.
If youβre looking for a rich, immersive expansion that blends perfectly with other mods like SVE, RSV, ES or VMV, this is it. Whether youβre into farming, fighting, exploring, or just getting to know new characters, Sunberry Village has something for you.
If you want to play it too, you can find the mod here on NexusMods
So when I got home today I passed out hard for like two hours and when I woke up I checked my phone and went βOh 6:40, I have about 20 more minutes to sleep.β And rolled over.
It wasnβt until I checked the time again after dropping my phone off the bed that I realized it was still Monday and not Tuesday morning
I am a goddamn idiot-

Wow, Mars!? I know thatβs kind of bad but itβs also kind of awesome.Β
We live a mile south of the MN/IA border (we live in Iowa but the nearest town is in Minnesota, just 6 miles north), and this is not my first -20F day. Itβs a funny thing, stepping outside when itβs this cold; I find it feels as though itβs wet, not because of any moisture, but just because itβs so cold that my body reads it as wet from the drastic temperature drop.Β
But, back to that exciting part about Mars.Β
Iβve often compared putting on all the pieces of my winter gear to putting on a space suit, and Iβm not going to lie, I sometimes go full mental role play when itβs this cold and Iβm going out to feed animals in the barn. Like, I start mentally referring to the house as the exploratory base and my car as the rover and Iβll say Iβm going out on a solo surface mission and whatnot; if my scarf slips off my face, I have a helmet breach, and so on. (I could probably pick more accurate scientific space terms, especially after reading the Martian, but itβs usually just in my head so I donβt typically pay too much attention to accuracy). Apparently, I never realized how semi-accurate I was actually being!Β
So wait, wait though. Are you actually telling me that the winter gear currently in my possession--knee-length down coat rated to ~ -20F, wool scarf, felt-lined wool mittens, wool hat, snow boots, snow pants, etc... Is what youβre saying that with the clothing I currently own, I could potentially walk around on the surface of Mars without actually needing a space suit?? I mean, I guess there are also other factors, like oxygen and pressure and things, but Iβm suddenly feeling like a patched together homemade spacesuit made from the winter gear I already have and like maybe a scuba diving tank or something is way more viable than I had previously considered. Itβs a good thing I donβt have any way of quickly transporting myself to Mars right now or the high level of childish space energy currently flooding me might make me foolish enough to try it.Β
Also I just had this moment where I thought,Β βitβs like Iβm in space!β and then remembered that the earth actually is a planet that is in space, so, technically... I am in space. So, in conclusion, stay warm, my fellow space travellers, and may your space suits/winter gear serve you well :)
Itβs 19-20 F (-7 C) whole-ass degrees at the Larsen Ice Shelf in Antartica.Β Β
Google says itβs -7 F (-22 C) in St. Paul, MN.
Congratulate itβs nearly 30 degrees warmer in antartica rn, stay toasty and be real smug about living through this.
Heavenly
