Curate, connect, and discover
I have no problems with Sora x Frak but I do kinda hope Frak's crush is unrequited because Ninjago hasn't really explored that idea. Even with Harumi it's always left ambiguous about whether she actually cares about Lloyd or not.
I... also think it would be cool if Sora was a pink-haired lesbian but... you know....
What are some of your favorite shipping dynamics?
Let's see if I can limit this to 2...
First involves a crafter + caregiver. For example, my couple Julius and Daisy. (Julius is crafter and Daisy is caregiver.)
So crafter has "Gift-Giving" as a love language, but he/she HAS to be the one Making the gifts. In this case, Julius is a smith and is spending his time crafting jewelry for his wife Daisy.
In comes caregiver Daisy with some food and water because you bet Julius skipped a meal to work on Daisy's present. And she stays, watching him. No, she is not watching what his hands are making, she is watching HIS HANDs, his determined face, how the sweat falls from his brow as he labors because this gift has to be perfect darn it! There are times that Daisy doesn't even realize that Julius is making her a present because she is too busy watching the man she loves.
And that is the shipping dynamic, the love eyes the two make. The caregiver just sitting there in love while the crafter labors in love. And Daisy still gets surprised with her presents because she might have been distracted by her husband's face. š¤£
Second shipping dynamic is when the butler ships it.
Okay, the butler is not in the ship, but the captain of the ship. This dynamic is so fun as it invites the readers into the story by having a character cheering with them for the main couple.
What I also noticed, when the butler ships it, is that the butler points out other details about the relationship that you might miss if you are surface level-reading. The butler often points out how the two are quite compatible or cover each other's flaws. (This really is delicious to read when the author already wrote this into the story, but the butler is highlighting it for you {basically gently nudging you to see the relationship instead of telling. I have read of a story where the butler told you to love the main couple, instead of revealing. Yeah, I don't trust the butler in that tale.} )
Also, the butler going out of his way to help out the main couple get together and/or build friendships with both members is so fun to read as the butler is thinking about the relationship long term, of the family and house that the couple will build. The butler isn't just thinking about securing his job but sustaining the life that the couple will have after marriage. Personally, I think this does the readers more good than the constant "Will they, won't they?"
Oh! This applies to the Head Stewardess as well! Though it has it's own flavor as the butler often gets a father/grandfather/uncle role to one of the characters while the Stewardess gets her motherly/grandmotherly/auntie role. Or best friend looking out for the other if the butler/stewardess grew up with the head of household.
Oooooh, nice tags, I have to say I'm on board for all but Avenpaz, and that's purely because I busted a lung laughing at "Doctor, you're huge!". Might I add a crackship to this- Sampo x Tingyun
It's interesting how I involuntarily managed to like all the ships the fandom despises
Man I feel bad for people once they are out of the company and don't have to pretend to be close anymore. It's gonna be a sad sad day in delusional hell.
Idols outside of kpop filming time being asked about their ship :
I love healthy male bonding it's great, but people take it way too far. Even if they aren't straight, they could easily still be in a relationship with another person, what is the obsession that people in kpop only date their coworkers? Is s.m a plantation? Can they not drive? Catch a flight? Facetime? This is exactly how some shippers missed harry had been dating loads of people while millions were convinced he was dating his band member. It's not high school, they don't live in a dorm, they aren't middle schoolers. They have lives outside of kpop. They know other people. Everyone only clings onto the ships s.m shoves in their face is because it gives them peace. It's a huge world, half of them aren't introverts, they aren't shy, they live full lives that you and nobody else is privy to. Ships are just a comfort so fans think they know who they are with and what they are doing. But I promise you do not. And I don't even hate friendshipping it's fine, enjoy fandom stuff. I really don't mind it, the content isn't innately evil, but it's the mindset it creates, especially when you bring babyfied thinking into serious conversations. Discussing somebody's racist colorist ass comments aren't coming for a ship, and using a ship to shield someone from criticism is disgusting, that's the real truth everybody conveinently leaves out. And if the response is oh well they said this or did that, another time, it's like the point is completely missed. It's not about hiding nobody else's shit it's about acknowledging all of it and not pretending none of it matters. They use the ships to hide shady stuff that was said and done and it's sick.
People think everybody is dumb and just know the basic stuff. Some people know alot. I don't care, but pretending that a lot of stuff never happened, and then continuing to bully the person who was picked on cause now everyone is just shipping and its all fluffy and cute..it gets on my nerves. And I do not like the idea of newbies who know nothing just accepting this cuteness while the dinosaurs are steady burying everything they can. Especially the ones who make videos and find clips to craft a better narrative. Really gross. Everyone can do much better. We don't have to live in the past, but we don't have to lie about it either.
