Okay now I’m thinking about Vampires again, only this time it’s Hotch as a Twilight version Vampire. You know, the kind that ✨sparkles.✨ This is completely @thesilverqueenlady and @merpancake’s fault. Blame them for what I am about to release upon the world.
And, for the sake of this, I legit have only read the first Twilight book back in 2009, and I’ve only watched the first movie—also in 2009 (or whenever it came out in theaters). I don’t remember if there’s anything else special about the Vampires aside from their sparkling (being too hot for humans or something), and the fact each one had some special ability for some reason.

So Aaron Hotchner became a Vampire in the 1500s. He was 34 years old when he “died” on the battlefield between England and France in the 100 year war. His nurse “saved” him. When he realized what he was, he refused to fight battles for pompous kings, deciding to defend the civilians who were caught in the middle, and to hunt down who he deemed as evil for his meals (unlike the Cullens. More like Hannibal. Kinda).
Ultimately this leads him to the BAU, where he helps capture the darkest parts of humanity and puts them away. But… sometimes unsubs end up dead. That’s the nature of the job. If some of their blood is missing, that’s not too concerning to the coroner, since they lost blood from the gunshot wound anyways.
Hotch wears long sleeves and nice suits. He keeps his collar up and his tie in place. He avoids sunlight like the plague, often sidestepping around beams of light from the windows if he can help it. He keeps his curtains closed at all times, and often doesn’t leave the station or office unless it’s dark or overcast. He never seems to have any issues with needing sleep.
Oh, and it seems as though he can *always* tell how his team is feeling. Empathy has become his ability, and he uses it to his advantage against unsubs and those he cares about alike.
So on those days where Spencer feels a little lost, down on himself, worried that he’s a burden or that he’s messed up somehow; he notices that Hotch always has a kinder smile, some sweet words, and an extra coffee waiting for him on his desk.
It’s just a coincidence… right? Like the time he caught Hotch standing in a sunbeam in his office, soaking up the warmth of the summer, and it seemed like his already handsome features were… shimmering somehow. Drawing his eyes, trapping him in, mesmerizing him—until suddenly Hotch closed the curtains and turned around, facing Spencer with that signature Hotch Glare™️, arching an eyebrow at him in question.
Just a coincidence. An odd thing that he shouldn’t dwell on too much.
Except that’s all Spencer knows how to do. Overthink and overturn his thoughts and perfect memory until it drives him to do something completely irrational: like asking Hotch outright, “You’re a Vampire, aren’t you?”
