i admit i'm kinda tempted by that mashcast announcement calling for guest speakers... but i SHAN'T!! i would have no coherent insight to offer. i would just pick a mulcahy episode and then yap about mulcahy-as-symbol. i have thoughts. THOUGHTS I TELLS YA.
mashcast crew if you're seeing this you call me if you ever want to record a podcast one-off that isn't focused on any particular episode and is instead just a bunch of highfalutin navelgazing about characters as personifications of sociological concepts moreso than as realized persons acting independently and the ways in which the minutiae of their interactions reflect broader trends, pressures, and agendas, such as mulcahy being used semivoluntarily by both the church and military as something halfway between window dressing and a sacrifical lamb to [A CANE DRAGS ME OFFSTAGE]
