I’m still boiling from that anti-Convert sentiment so I’m going to put it into something positive, I won’t hold to any negativity because it will harm this blog and me, so I make something out of this undeniable deep pain and sympathy for all converts but particularly converts with no Jewish ancestry.
So here some famous non-born Jews:
Sammy Davis Jr. a man who always wore a Mezuzah around his neck, and the one day he did not, lost his eye in a terrible accident, never took it off again. He is a Jew. May his memory be a blessing.
Marilyn Monroe, considered a sex symbol, lived a tragic short life filled with abuse from her peers and family. She found a home in a synagogue, even if it was for a short time. She is a Jew. May her memory be a blessing
Elizabeth Taylor, a famous actress, a HIV/AIDS activist, converted to Judaism in 1959 saying this: “Although two of her husbands – Mike Todd and Eddie Fisher – were Jewish, Taylor stated that she did not convert because of them, but had wanted to do so “for a long time.”” She is a Jew. May her memory be a blessing
Andre Tippet a former American football player, enshrined in the football hall of fame in 2008. As his Wikipedia article says: Andre Tippett is Jewish; a former Baptist, he converted to Judaism. He is a Jew. Mr. Tippet thank you for your contribution to this tribe.
Sarah Avraham, a world known kickboxer, who converted to Judaism, fled her homeland Mumbai, India after the 2008 terrorist attack and immigrated to Israel. She is a Jew. Mrs. Avraham thank you for your contribution to this tribe.
Carroll Baker, retired actress, a women who like Monroe, was consistently abused by those around her. who converted to Judaism for Jack Garfein, a Holocaust survivor and director. Regardless if she fills her house with Jewish breath. She is a Jew. Mrs. Baker thank you for your contribution to this tribe.
Drew Bundini Brown, a fucking icon, was an assistant trainer and cornerman for The Muhammad Ali. Met a Jewish woman he really loved, married her, and converted years later, finding his home in our tribe. He is a Jew. May his memory be a blessing.
Mike Hanopol, a rabbi, and former rock musician who played with several Filipino and American bands. Upon learning he had Jewish heritage, he converted AND became a Rabbi. He is a Jew. Mr. Hanopol thank you for your contribution to this tribe.
Kate Capshaw, an actress most know for her role in the Indiana Jones film, which was directed by Steven Spielberg, she converted to Judaism before marrying him and had a beautiful Orthodox ceremony for their marriage. They are still married and a beautiful Jewish couple and have at least 5 Jewish Kids (wow!!!!) Mrs. Capshaw thank you for your contribution to this tribe.
William Holmes Crosby Jr. the founding father of the branch of science know as hematology ( study of blood) and a translator. I could literally nothing on why, when, which movement he converted I only that he did indeed to convert to Judaism. He is a Jew. May his memory be a blessing.

The mystery of icon-preserving bees
For a decade, a beekeeper near Athens, has kept a tradition: every spring, he slips icons of Christ, the Holy Virgin and different saints in his beehives, in order to bless his bees and his yearly honey production. And every year, the very same mysterious phenomenon occurs: bees make their honeycomb cells around the pious images, meticulously avoiding covering them.

The Eve of Ivan Kupalo/Vecher nakanune Ivana Kupala, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, 1968
“A master of Ukrainian poetic cinema, Yuri Ilyenko gained world-wide acclaim as the cinematographer of Parajanov’s Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors. As a director, he stands proudly in the anti-realist tradition of Dovzhenko: of his nine films, all but one were banned until last year, when A Spring for the Thirsty stunned SFIFF audiences. The Eve of Ivan Kupalo-based on Gogol’s rendering of a Ukrainian folk tale-is probably Ilyenko’s most inspired and experimental work. The opposite of what one expects from a film taken from peasant mythology, it is neither quaint nor corny, and doesn’t depend on broad acting and hearty singing. Suffused with the earthly pantheism of a half-pagan Christianity, Ilyenko’s film celebrates the unbridled passions of a people linked to nature and the rites of the seasons, to animals and the spirits of the forests. The story-a young peasant’s pact with the evil spirit in order to win the hand of a rich man’s daughter-is a simple parable of the evil power of gold over man. The cinematic treatment is dazzlingly complex, a series of astonishing and inventive images-boldly composed in color Cinemascope-married to an equally ambitious sound montage of music and stylized effects.”
Vintage set of playing cards depicting Jewish women’s folk costumes from around the world. The countries, fro right to left, are as follows:
First row: Turkey, Bulgaria, Hodu (India), Yazan (Wiesen; could be Switzerland, Austria, or Bavaria, apparently)
Second row: Hungaria, Holland, Turkmenistan, Israel
Third row: Russia, Serbia (fun fact: for a second I misread it as Siberia), Teiman (Yemen), Italy
Fourth row: Poland, (This one I can’t entirely read, but I think it says Paras, or Persia. Interestingly, it looks more like Uzbek clothing), Kavkaz (the Caucasus), Romania

In 1972, early in his career, Green wrote an article in The International Journal of Psychiatry taking issue with “the premise that homosexuality is a disease or a homosexual is inferior.” The following year, the American Psychiatric Association dropped homosexuality from its list of mental disorders.
“Those were times when, if you spoke up in support of homosexuals, people immediately thought that you were secretly homosexual yourself, or had unresolved sexual issues,” Jack Drescher, a clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University, told the Times. “Richard was very much heterosexual, and it took a lot of courage to argue for gay people.”
Even earlier, in 1962, Green testified on behalf of a Nicaraguan man who was facing deportation from the U.S. for being gay. The man won the right to remain in the U.S. Later, Green “testified on behalf of a transgender woman who was suing to keep her job as a pilot, and a transgender parent who was suing for child visitation,” the Times reports.
Green eventually completed a law degree, and he put that to use in support of LGBTQ rights as well. In 1990 he volunteered his legal services in a case brought by the American Civil Liberties Union against the Boy Scouts of America’s ban on gay scoutmasters. Although the BSA won the suit, it finally dropped the prohibition in 2015.
May his memory be a blessing.

The “Queen Esther" of the Tel Aviv Purim Carnival in 1934.
The Jews of Eretz Yisrael used to celebrate heartily at the Purim Adloyada [“until they don’t know”] festival and parade held in Tel Aviv in the 1920s and 30’s. Purim provides the classic example of a Jewish Holiday: “They tried to kill us. We survived. Let’s eat!”
