the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible
because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person
from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating
it’s fucked up.
No, but like,
Can we talk about this scene?
THIS DIDN’T HAPPEN IN THE MANGA!!!!
Kaneki stayed with his mask until the end of his fight with Amon in the manga. Now, in the anime, kaneki took off his mask, and you’re not supposed to do that, ever. This shows the amount of trust kaneki has for Amon.
AND NOW HIS ASKING FOR HIS NAME
The thing with this shot, is that it’s done perfectly, it’s really clever. Kaneki looking up to meet Amon’s eyes (As if, accepting that he just showed his identity to a CCG, a complete stranger) asking for Amon’s name so formally, and the smoke covering only his ghoul side so he can only look at his human side makes it all the more difficult for Amon to doubt him.
What I really liked about this one, is that, in the manga, Amon is downright rude to kaneki when talking to him. He said something like “Don’t fuck with me you ghoul bastard” In the anime, Amon, without hesitation said his name.
AND THEN (sorry I don’t have a gif for this one) kaneki looks down, the smoke covering his mouth, and Amon TWITCHES, I know this may sound really exaggerated, but, Amon kinda likes, observes kaneki at that part, as if he did something for Amon to pay closer attention or something. (maybe kaneki smiled?)
AND LATER ON, Kaneki and Amon fight, with kaneki’s hair covering his eyes (maybe because he’s ashamed of himself?). 100% knowing about their “enemy”, Kaneki saying that he doesn’t want to fight Amon, and Amon just wanting to talk to the poor guy, wishing they had met some other way.
this is EXACTLY what Hannibal deserves
Some of y’all can’t seem to comprehend that the show isn’t the books, and it was never trying to be.
Loving the books SHOULD NOT EQUAL hating the show and vice versa. Because they’re not the same, and that’s the point.
They’re different stories that take place in different times, different mediums, and different universes. It always intended to deviate from the source material. This was mentioned several times during the press tour.
If you’re mad that your favorite line, theme, or moment from the book isn’t there, you are not here for the show. You are here for the books, and that was your first mistake.
The show is flawed. I know. It has problems.
But if you want to criticize the show, ask yourself if your criticism still stands without comparing it to the books. If it can’t, ask yourself why it matters. Then get over it.
Thanks for coming to my angry TEDTalk.
right, so.
regardless of the merits of this particular story, there is a larger point to be made.
this? this is a cisgender man and a nonbinary alien in a sexual/romantic relationship.
a queer relationship. a relationship that is queer and canon.
there is, quite simply, no other interpretation on the table. they fuck. they’re fucking. other questions are still up in the air but they are definitely, 150% fucking.
so when (not if, sadly) some smug fanboy rolls his dead, soulless little eyes at all the stupid womenfolk and queers on tumblr who want Eddie Brock and the symbiote to be a couple lol those sad horny freaks
that fanboy is wrong.
he’s just wrong. he’s as wrong as a guy telling you that Dr Doom is white or that Batwoman isn’t a lesbian. he’s wrong. that’s all. that’s it. he’s a wrong guy being wrong. know this and, in the wake of all Cates-like entities to come, draw comfort from it my friends.
The multiverse and it’s possibilities
When your childhood hero’s don’t disappoint you.
So fans of Harry Potter might love Circle of Magic:
Circle of Magic is a quartet of fantasy novels by Tamora Pierce, set in Emelan, a fictional realm in a pseudo-medieval and renaissance era. It revolves around four young mages, each specializing in a different kind of magic, as they learn to control their extraordinary and strong powers and put them to use.
And the author is amazing.
Can we make #CircleofMagic trend?
“If you surface, they die.”
That one Langst story where Lance freaking drowns himself in order to save Keith and Shiro. http://archiveofourown.org/works/11057385/chapters/24654354
I drew this for my friend’s story because it’s sooooo good and it’s been a wild feel ride of reading it. What a journey it’s been since you took a shot in the dark and it’s reached over 14k hits! (congratz!!) I’ve had a blast being able to collaborate with you on character interaction ideas whenever you had writer’s block or just wanted to chat for funsies :D It’s been an honor and thanks for being such an amazing writer ; o ;
fluffball exposed
Me watching Clone Wars like
Heaven Official's Blessing, or Tiān Guān Cì Fú, is my favorite danmei novel. Here's why:
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! BELOW ARE SPOILERS FOR ARC 4, OR BOOK 6 FROM THE SEVEN SEAS TRANSLATION.
Ok, the reason this is my favorite danmei novel, is directly tied into Hua Cheng and his complete and utter devotion to Xie Lian. In the hundred sword piercing scene in Arc 4, or Book 6, the scene is built up So Well, with Xie Lian and Bai Wuxiang and all of the sheer mindfuckery that happens with the people. And yeah, Xie Lian's pain and heartache and despair is absolutely Heart wrenching, but Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng is who Sells that scene for me. Because he Loves this man, this GOD, he is devoted and faithful and as close to everlasting as he can get, and he has had to Watch as the man he loves goes through Literal Hell while Hua Cheng is literally an incorporeal Ghost Fire. He is almost entirely powerless, and he is unable to help or even alleviate some of Xie Lian's pain. And you can Feel that So Keenly in the hundred sword piercing scene, when Xie Lian is screaming, and in Such Pain, and he just it's to Stop, he is Finally asking for help and No One Hears Him, and Hua Cheng the helpless incorporeal Ghost Fire who loves this man can only Watch. He can do NOTHING to help. And it tears him apart. And their combined but separate agony is what makes this scene get to me So Deeply every. Single. Time. That I read it. I break down crying every time, because their feelings are so visceral, and they feel like they're both alone with this but they're not, and it all just combines into this wonderful terrible amazing heartrending scene, and I just. I love this novel so much. Because it let me experience that depth of emotion. It's so good. It's amazing. And absolutely everyone should read it, because it is catharsis and heartbreak and angst and validation all in one place.
I identify as female with she/her pronouns. I love anything One Piece. Especially Trafalgar Law.
