There’s something that new k-pop fans might not understand about the older generations of idols. Many people like to criticize Super Junior for their past actions, seeing them only as variety idols without any musical value. Some might wonder how they have lasted for so long, thinking that they aren’t even popular anymore, that they are overrated, etc. It’s a well known fact that one of the secrets to Suju’s successful career is because they treat everyone around them with respect. Numerous hoobaes and sunbaes have said the same thing over & over again : you might not see them as popular or relevant now, but their popularity and impact were grandiose, more than you could ever imagine. SJ has so many connections in the industry, going from actors/singers, to MCs/producers. They spent a decade trying to tie countless of relations here and there, finding many opportunities to spread their talents. What they do might not interest you, but they are really what you call a well-rounded group. There is not one single member who is useless or isn’t talented. You want a good producer? You have Shindong. Great MCs? Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Eunhyuk, Kyuhyun are doing well. Radio DJs? Ryeowook and Shindong are comfortable doing that. One of the best vocal line, if not the best in kpop? Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Yesung are here to please your ears. Zhou Mi is super great as well. Kangin & Shindong went on Masked Singers (Still waiting for Heechul to make an appearance). Actors? Yesung, Siwon and Heechul are pretty confident in this field. Dancers and choreographers? Of course we can’t not mention Eunhyuk, Donghae and Shindong. Composers? Not only Donghae is a genius, but a few of them have proven to be talented as well (Did you listen to Don’t Leave Me? If not, you should, and thank Siwon later; also can we talk about Henry? That guy never cease to impress me). Musical actors? Sungmin, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun excel in musicals. And those are just a small part of what each member can do. On top of that, members can play instruments, have a great variety sense, are hilarious, are a genuine and caring group of people, are hard workers, and most importantly : all of them can actually sing, contrary to popular belief. Their voices mixed together blend perfectly and they have a unique sound. Even their sub-units will impress you. Give their discography a listen, because they have proven themselves so many times already. You will not be disappointed. The thing is that it seems like everyone who’s working in this industry knows how talented Super Junior is and how difficult it was for them to be where they are today, yet the public chooses to ignore this side of the group. They’re veterans in the industry that should be respected. I mean, their name was supposed to be SM Junior when they debuted, but they changed it to “Super” because the members themselves said :  “We have to become first at what we do best, so that when members gather, we’ll be the top of the top. That’s why we are Super Junior.” 

No offense to the Army’s, but BTS are not “the first kpop act” to appear in America, and not the first to sign under american label, Psy and Wonder Girls is the first kpop act to debut in America and he actually won an award in AMA’s, he’s also the first to debut on American TV, CL was on Late Late Show first too. Psy, CL and BigBang, SNSD are one of the artist that won in Youtube Awards in america and also all around europe, the very first kpop group to win outside Korea is Super Junior. Psy, BigBang and CL,are the first to sign under a American label, the first artist in kpop that worked with UNICEF is jinusean, before that there’s, BigBang who’s supports UNICEF as solo and as a group, also Snsd, SuJu, Tvxq, Epik High, 2ne1, f(x), Shinee and much more. So no BTS didn’t do that first..

I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:

3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”

4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”

5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.

TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.

(apologising for the irrelevant tags on this long post but i just wanted this to reach as many fans as possible as we together make the kpop community)

here’s something about someone i’ve been meaning to address for a while now, lana, or by her birth name Eugenia Svetlana, debuting as a kpop idol.the mention of her stirred up some issues and arguments that i’d just want to give my personal opinion on.

she really shouldn’t be under the kpop label.

lana is russian, purely white, her family is european and in no way is she an asian girl. yet she continues to edit her photos to look more ‘korean’ by changing her eyes and nose, and exactly in what way does that not make her a koreaboo?like?? ma’am you are a white woman, please.

she could always go and start a career in any white (people) dominated country because that’s a place white people are in, everywhere. the mainstream media, where you will hardly ever see asian people flourish because there is absolutely no representation for them. after so many goddamn years kpop found a well deserved spot in the west and the mainstream eye without a 90% racist feedback. fucking finally. korean pop helped get other asians a well deserved seat in the achievements by using the help of mixed cultures. yes, not all kpop idols are korean, but they are all asian or at least mixed, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indian.

as for nationalities, there are idols like Hong Joshua, Kim Matthew, Johnny, felix, chris and Park Chae Young (only to name 4 from a whole lot) who are from 

the west. but what’s similar about them?

they are korean. these musically talented people wouldn’t even get a chance in their countries because of their respective culture and race, which is why kpop was a home to them where they could stand on high positions without feeling like a minority in front of the rest of the industry and get thrown comments like “oh you’re probably good at maths” or “do you like,,, really eat,, dogs? i have a dog at home at that hurts me so much!”

there are too,some mixed idols. the reason they are accepted in because they are korean as well and face those same kinds of discrimination along with that, they share the same history and culture. Hansol,  Samuel and Kai.

But when the audience learnt that Samuel was half Mexican, his popularity and votings dropped drastically. Because of the flawed idea of perfection and beauty in not just Korea but also Asia as a whole. This is the same flawed and delusional standard that Lana is taking advantage of, by mixing her white self into the asian market as an asian.

Here’s a little example of how our standards are a slap on the face kind of bullshit.

As an asian myself let me just tell you how many times a day my TV tells me that I should be light skinned, how many relatives meet me and ask me that I’m not as fair skinned as I used to be and that’s making me less appealing or how my mother tells me to put something on my face before leaving the house so I don’t look dark.

And here we have Lana, using her white features and skin and body while dressing up asian, editing her eyes and nose and debuting under an asian label as the perfect asian beauty standard. Calling herself a Korean idol despite her zero relevance to the race or culture or even nationality. Wow. feuling those same sick ideas.

THIS IS A WHITE WOMAN FROM A PURELY WHITE ANCESTORY.

In no means am I saying that she’s a horrible human being or whatever the fuck, I’m sure she’s nice and probably good at idk , knitting, you choose. But my point only is that simply doing all THIS is so odd and disturbing. Let us have our space and freedom to see ourselves gain achievements let it be only on a single platform- it’s all we have. Literally all we have. Flying over to Korea to debut without absolutely any relation to asia makes no sense and trying to look a different race is so creepy ??

We’d all even overlook half these issues if her talent was admirable, but damn son, I’m really sorry to be this rude but I sat down to watch her stage performance completely open-minded… and it was terrible. So what really is making her an idol let alone a KOREAN IDOL? It wouldn’t be such an issue if she was In a group too, but she’s solo, a white solo koreaboo.

Maybe you might see this as a reach but for someone who lives in a country that was finally freed from colonisers just 70 years ago (people of that era are still alive so take that into perspective) and was crippled economically and culturally making us hate our own skins and languages, I’m sure I know how a foreigner comes to what you’ve created, smiling like a friend and shifts the standards and makes something your community set up for themselves and their happiness into their own.

And no, I’m not into supporting the whole idea of bullying her in her comment section or making fun of her to hurt her feelings, it’s dumb and doesn’t make us any better, but what I certainly do encourage is raising the knowledge of why her debut is bad and why her Korean fetishisation is gross and how her place would be anywhere in her country or America or any other white place but absolutely not the ONLY industry made BY Asians FOR asians.

The moment you normalise Lanas arrival, more non Asians would join this asian platform, and soon kpop wouldn’t be about this race struggling and finding its place it the international eye yet just a white people dominated industry. It has happened before, too many times to count.

It seemed when all hope was lost, Poe Dameron, the love of your life, really loved to make it all about him. 

“YN!” He cried, fear making his voice yell. He steered his ship to spiral around yours and shoot down the TIE chasing you. “YN!” He called again, coming to speed beside you. You looked at him briefly before clenching your teeth and maneuvering in a way that took down three more ships. 

“Yes, Poe?” You tried, grunting when the G’s finally stopped. 

“Marry me!” He shouted, dancing his ship around your own. Time seemed to slow down in that instant, and you found yourself having time to look up at the underbelly of his ship as if he could see your incredulous expression.
