okay sooooo
am I the only one who actually prefers the lore that says that Jedi collect their crystals and then meditate with them and that's what gives the crystal it's colour??? (i certainly hope not)
i know it's a thing in the comic books where characters just pick out a crystal with the color already ingrained into it and there's nothing more to it but I feel like half the reason lightsabers are cool to me is because they actually tell you something about the user, they tell you their preferences in combat, how they view the force and sometimes even how deadly they can be
do I wanna believe mace windu just found a purple crystal or do I wanna believe he got this rare color because he uses dark side tactics but has the ability not to be blinded by them?
the first time I saw Anakin's lightsaber was blue I thought it was very telling about who he was and I believe that it was actually the first hint to his dark tactics and eventually his fall to the sith (even if it was by accident this is my interpretation).
how could the chosen one, the person with the most midi-chlorians, a person who has incredible force potential, uses a blue lightsaber instead of a green one? it is so accurate to his character because blue means you prefer using your saber to using the force in combat, they're also usually the first to pull them out and the ones to do it without hesitating to anyone anywhere.
i just thought it was perfect, that paired with an aggressive style, it was right under their noses
For anyone who hasn't seen them before, Hidden Search Operators are handy tricks you can use when you're either searching or filtering AO3.
summary: string is a generic way of explaining that you can search AO3 for a specific word that appears in a summary. You can do this from the search bar in the header, from the Any Field box at the top of the Advanced Search form, or from the Search Within Results box at the bottom of the filter menu.
Examples:
summary: Bruce
summary: "Bruce Banner"
summary: Bruce OR summary: Banner OR summary: Hulk
You need to put quotation marks around your search term if it is more than one word. The quotes make sure that the site searches for those two words together.
The other two operators listed work best in the Search Within Results box.
expected_number_of_chapters: 1 will return results where every fic has only 1 chapter currently posted.
You can use expected_number_of_chapters: -1 if you want results where every fic has more than 1 chapter currently posted.
otp:true will return results where there is only 1 relationship tag on the fic. If you want results where there are 2+ relationship tags (and no fics with only 1 relationship tag) then you can use otp:false
im trying to make academia.edu the next big social media. it incorporates as a primary feature the biggest thing that all other extant social media lacks, which is the ability to publish essays and research papers for viewing and download by other users. and you can make posts.
Here’s an idea that makes me giggle. What about an AU where absolutely everyone in the Jedi Order faked their death at least twice. It is practically a right of passage to die in your Padawan/Master/Grandpadawan/Extended Lineage’s arms then stroll in six months later with a captured criminal and a smoothie.
It changes the grief. Everyone kind of treats the dead like they are on extended undercover assignments. Like they still hold funerals because no one ever knows but everyone is really casual about death because there’s a 40% chance that person you watched die would pop back up (60% if the death was witnessed only non force sensitives, 95% if all that was found was a corpse) at some point in the future. The Jedi even have some kind of scoreboard for who was currently ‘dead’ that only the Jedi and Jedi adjacent(like the clones) know how to read. Things like how many times someone ‘came back to life’ or longest time ‘dead’ (The current record for longest time is Jon Antilles, who was declared dead for three decades before popping back up. No one, not even him, is quite sure that he wasn’t actually dead for part of that time. His life is weird.)
Of course they make sure to inform the Clones. It would be cruel not to make sure that the Clones didn’t know that this was something that happened around Jedi. They are the only non-Jedi that spend such a significant amount of time around the Jedi.
Just picture the Rako Hardeen Arc. No one thinks to tell the Chancellor that the reason they are hesitant in having Obi Wan fake his death is because Dooku, as a former Jedi, knows not to trust a Jedi dying. They hold Obi Wan’s public funeral in front of the scoreboard. So the entire time Mace Windu is giving a eulogy, the entire Jedi Order is watching the time ‘dead’ on Obi Wan’s entry tick upward.
Palpatine is watching eagerly, waiting for Anakin to be torn up about Obi Wan’s assisination so he can encourage him to take revenge. Except it doesn’t happen. No one, including Anakin, appears to be grieving at all. This entire plan was supposed to get Anakin to kill his Master in a fit of revenge and. It. Just. Wasn’t working.
Anakin’s not even feeling abandoned or betrayed. How is Palpatine supposed to work with this?
