'Cherry' | Fem!Y/N x Lyutsifer Safin
Masterlist Y/N is working undercover at a Strip Club in Vegas when she encounters Safin meeting with a potential supplier for his newest concoction, usually a top performing agent she suddenly finds herself being unable to tell a lie. (Word Count: 2553)

“I said this was a terrible idea...” Y/N said as she adjusted the tight leather dress she’d been forced to wear.
“We just need to get the benefactor’s name; it shouldn’t take much longer.” Q explained as he checked his surveillance gear; he usually didn’t leave London, but Y/N had specifically requested Q join her as she trusted him the most.
“It’s been two weeks, Q...”
“Apparently someone’s booked the VIP booth tonight, so this might be the last night you have to do.”
MI6 had been trailing a possible drug ring that operated in Las Vegas; rumours had spread a drug that completely erases a person's ability to lie, making them more controllable. As one of the youngest female agents, Y/N was assigned to go undercover at one of the target strip clubs and figure out who was funding the operation. They’d found a job at a club called ‘Bunny Girls’ and inserted Y/N in as Cherry, the club’s newest waitress.
“Anyway, you’re running late for your shift, so go go go.” As he spoke, Q pushed her out of the small building he’d been operating from. Once Y/N was outside, she huffed before walking around the corner and entering the club she was undercover at.
"Cherry, just the girl I want to see.” The club owner greeted her as she entered the dressing room, “The VIP booth is booked tonight, so I want all your attention on our big spenders.”
Y/N bat her eyes, taking on the role of Cherry once again. “Sure thing, boss,” she said, earning an appreciative look from the owner. Once he left, she sat down in her chair and started getting ready.
When the club opened an hour later, Y/N had her hair curled and her makeup completed, the glitter on her eyes making them sparkle under the club. Standing, she readjusted her dress one more time before making her way on to the main club floor.
“Hey Cherry!” John, the barman, greeted her as she stepped behind the bar. “You dressed up pretty tonight.”
She repressed the urge to roll her eyes; ever since she’d gone undercover, John had taken every opportunity to shamelessly flirt with her. According to the other girls, he took it as tradition to sleep with all the new starters.
“I’m dressed the same as I usually do, John,” Y/N stated, and she started getting the VIP buckets prepped, filling them with ice.
He simply smiled at her. “I know..." John titled his down as she crouched to pull out the bottles for the ice buckets. “But I think you get hotter every night.”
“Does that line usually work?” She stood back up and started placing the bottle in the buckets.
“Don’t pretend it isn’t working on you.” He leans into her space as he speaks; Y/N backs up slightly.
“I’ve got a job to do so…” As she speaks, she gestures to the two buckets she needed to take to the VIP booth.
"Well, before you go, at least taste test my newest drink.” She sees a shot glass slide across the counter in front of her. “It’s cherry-flavoured.”
Y/N is about to say no; tell him to fuck off with his desperate attempts to seduce her, but instead she just sighs and drinks the shot quickly so she can continue this night without any more problems. He’s right, it does taste like cherries; it’s sweet and a little tart, but Y/N still finds herself enjoying it. Placing the glass down, she turns to John, “Happy now?”
“Very, now go on; we can talk later.” He had a strange look on his face, but Y/N decided to just leave it until later. She walks back out of the bar while carrying the two buckets, heading to the VIP booth.
In the booth are what seems to be two different groups of men, clearly some ‘business’ discussing some type of criminal partnership. One group Y/N recognises as an infamous casino owner and drug dealer in Las Vegas, but the other is an enigma. Her eyes scan the second group; they seem more professional than the first group. The first group greets her with cheers and whistles while they keep their expressions guarded.
Sitting in the middle of the booth are the two leaders of the groups. The first group’s leader is an older man, dressed in what you’d expect a mob boss to dress in. The second is younger but still mature-looking; his face is covered in scarring that reminds Y/N of lighting; it’s eerily beautiful. His blue eyes are calculating as he looks at her; he seems almost amused.
Shaking off his gaze, Y/N retakes her ‘Cherry’ persona: “Hello Gentlemen, welcome to Bunny Girls; I’m Cherry, and I’ll be your waitress this evening; anything you need, just give me a call.” She finishes her introduction with a flirty wink.
The scarred man doesn’t speak to her instead choosing to whisper to his companion, who looks at her. Instead, the other leader turns to her with a leer. “This is why I like this place; they always give us the pretty ones.”
He gestures to the space between him and the scarred man, “Come sit with us, darling.”
Y/N hesitates for a moment and glances at the scarred man subconsciously, who simply gives her a subtle nod. As she moves towards the empty space beside him, her heart beats faster. She feels the man’s gaze on her, causing shivers to spread through her body.
The other man put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her to him, leaning in close. “What’s a pretty thing like you working in a place like this?”
Her body feels hot suddenly, and thinking it’s just from the men's body heat, she ignores it. “Just making sure you lovely gentlemen enjoy your night.” She answers, but a part of her feels compelled to keep speaking; she bites her lip to stop herself.
“Not what I mean, darling,” the man responds, “I mean, how’d a girl like you end up here and not under the arm of some billionaire?”
Without thinking, she blurts out an answer: "Well, I didn’t want to work here, but my boss made me.”
‘Why are you saying this?’ Y/N thinks confused with herself; her mind feels cloudy, and her body starts to loosen. She keeps thinking back to that cherry-flavoured shot she’d drank. ‘Shit… I’ve been drugged.
The scarred man leans back to look at her; his eyes suggest he’s thinking of something. “Interesting…” His voice is deep and hoarse with a thick Russian accent. “And why did he make you work here?”
“We need information on a potential drug ring; the drug currently circulating could compromise The Crown’s security.” She needed to get out of here before she’d kept talking, but she couldn’t move.
He leaned in closer, assessing her carefully. Close enough to smell, she inhaled sharply—florals and something else. Y/N felt out of control; her body wasn’t computing with her mind anymore. He spoke in a low whisper, “And why would a girl like you care about the safety of the crown?”
This was bad; it was clear this man knew Y/N had been drugged. “She’s a goddam spy!” The other man yelled alarm as he pulled his hand away and stood, his men following suit. He pulled out his pistol and aimed it towards her.
The scarred man's smirk widened as he watched the scene play out, the revelation of her identity causing a shift in the room. The other man is now pointing a weapon at her. He remained calm, unmoving. He was amused by the development, intrigued by the young women.
"A spy? How intriguing." He leaned forward, his eyes locking with hers, his voice dripping with a hint of mockery.
"You have quite the nerve, Miss..." He let the question hang in the air, waiting for her response.
“Y/L/N, Y/N Y/L/N.” She said through gritted teeth, still trying to resist the effects of the drugs, forcing her body to stand.
Safin chuckled softly, appreciating her determination. "Miss Y/L/N..." He savoured the way her name rolled off his tongue. "How interesting, a spy from MI6.”
He watched her struggle to stand, her attempts to resist the effects of the drugs in vain. His eyes scanned her figure and the way her body moved uncontrollably. There was something so enticing about the way she was fighting, the way she was losing her composure.
He stood slowly, walking towards her. His voice was low, almost seductive. Y/N was overwhelmed with how this man was able to effect her, but trying to regain her dignity, she held her head high and responded, “You never introduced yourself, sir.”
"Ah, forgive me, where are my manners?” He spoke, standing to move in front of her, his eyes predatory. “I am Doctor Lyutsifer Safin.”
She stepped back from him in fear but froze when she felt the end of the gun. The other man was still aiming towards her. The man she now knew as Safin watched her carefully, “Leave us; we will discuss our business later.” He spoke to the other group, not taking his eyes off the young agent.
The other men left without hesitation, their gazes lingering on Safin and the young agent before they exited the VIP booth. As soon as they were alone, the atmosphere changed drastically. The club around them was still alive—the music, the laughter, the dancing. She could hear the announcer introduce another girl as the crowd cheered. But in their isolated vicinity, it was almost quiet, almost intimate.
He took another step towards her. “You... don’t know who I am, do you?”
“Should I?" She couldn’t move, allowing him to take a mother step forward, their chests almost touching.
He smiled slightly amused by her response, reaching a hand to trace his finger along her jawline, his touch as light as a feather. “You’re the one undercover, spying on my people.”
“I was given a very... limited mission assignment.” She explained, giving up on stopping herself when it was clear nothing could, “We didn’t know who we were looking for.”
His touch became more purposeful, fingertips gliding down her arm, feeling her body shiver under his touch. His eyes roamed over her face, observing her closely. "Who sent you here, Miss Y/L/N?"
“I think you already know," she spoke, trying to hold onto the last piece of information her drugged mind hadn’t given up.
His eyes narrowed slightly, and his hand moved to her waist, pulling her closer. His voice was a whisper; she could feel his breath on her neck. “I want you to say it out loud.”
Y/N clenched her eyes shut, unable to hold back any longer, “I work for MI6.”
She heard Safin hum seemingly pleased with her response. His grip on her waist tightened, his fingers digging into her flesh just a little harder.
He leaned in even closer, his lips almost touching her neck, his breath hot and heavy against her skin.
"Good girl..." he murmured. "Now tell me, are you alone in this operation?”
"I...” she could feel herself speak, about to expose the entire operation, when another dancer, Honey, stepped into the booth. “Cherry, you’re needed at the bar.”
Safin's eyes met those of the dancer. His gaze hardened at the unexpected intrusion, but he let go of Y/N. He took a step back, looking between the two women. "Miss Y/L/N and I are still having our conversation."
Sensing an opportunity to escape, Y/N moved to the entrance of the booth before speaking, “I should go see what they need; it was a pleasure meeting you, Doctor Safin.”
She left before he could react, but instead of going to the bar, she went to the dressing room. Grabbing her bag, she escaped through the backdoors, hoping to reconvene with Q. As she moved through the parking lot, texting Q that she’d been compromised, a voice behind her made her freeze. “Going somewhere?”
As she turned, she came face to face with John, but his face was different from his usual personality. His eyes were dark and narrow as he stared at her. Her hand reached into her grab to grip her gun, and she spoke, “You drugged me.”
John chuckled at her accusation, clearly amused by her realisation. "Drugged you? I was simply making you comfortable.”
“What did you give me?” She asked, thankful the night air was helping to clear her head. “Where did you get it from?”
“A friend of mine hooked me up; it's... experimental, but most of the girls have enjoyed it.” John admitted no longer seeing the need to hide, taking a step forward.
As he began to approach, Y/N pulled her gun from her pocket, aiming at him. “Stay right there!”
John smirked at her, nearly laughing, “Give me a break; you’re just a stripper... what damage could you do?”
“You have no idea." She tried to steady her hand, but it still trembled slightly. She was coming down from the drug, but it’d still be a while.
Josh ignored the gun and began to run towards her, planning to ambush her and knock her down. He nearly reached her when suddenly his body fell and blood sprayed on her face. Y/N looked at her in confusion; she hadn’t fired.
Her eyes looked from her gun down to John's body, breathing heavily from the adrenaline. She looked up from the body and was face-to-face once again with Safin. He was holding a small silenced pistol, the muzzle still smoking.
Y/N shuffles on her feet slightly under his intense stare. He seems allured by the crimson splatter now staining her face, stepping closer, causing her to take a step back. She’s still breathing heavily and tries to catch her breath.
“Most people would thank the person that saved their life.” He spoke as he calmly handed his gun to his second in command.
“I had it handled.”
"Oh, I’m sure you did.” Safin replied almost mockingly.
A car’s horn sounded, causing Y/N to finally turn away from him; just down the road, she recognised the lights of Q’s car. Without speaking again, she sprinted down the street and flung the door open. Throwing her bag in, she was about to jump inside too, but she paused. Turning back for a moment, her eyes once again met the piercing blue of Lyutsifer Safin, and you both knew this wouldn’t be the last encounter.
As Y/N hopped into the car, she ignored Q’s rapid questions and closed her eyes. She sighed as she ran through the last hour through her head; her face was still wet with John’s blood, but she didn’t have the energy to wipe it off. Resting her head on the window, she fell asleep as her friend quickly drove them away from Las Vegas and towards their extraction point.
Safin watched as the car you entered pulled away and quickly raced from the scene; it was only as the car turned the corner did he finally look away. He briefly looked at the body on the ground before he began giving orders to his men. “Get rid of the body,” he stated as he began to walk away, “and find me anything you can on Y/N Y/L/N”.

Chapter 2. Jasper
Mitsuko had spent most of the weekend at home, both comforting and receiving comfort from her family. She’d also spent time with Riley’s parents, doing the same as she did for Charlie only a couple months ago. She even helped them with the missing posters.
Her friends had messaged to check on her after she’d left school early; she’d decided to be honest with them. In their friend group chat, she’d informed them about Riley and was thankful for the support they showed her. They also told her about how Edward had taken Bella out of town, explaining her lack of response in the chat.
By Sunday, she’d given herself enough time to comprehend the situation. Yet her dreams grew worse night by night. It was the same every time: blood was everywhere, upturned or smashed cars covered the car park, and people kept screaming. She saw figures clawing at each other, tearing them apart before throwing them into fires.
A particular shriek always shocked her awake, the same pitch every time, and Monday was no different. Her eyes flashed open in fear, and she quickly sat up, her pink floral duvet gathering by her legs. Bringing her hands to her face, she wiped the sleep from her eyes and moved the hair from her face.
‘Shit’ she thought as she looked to her bedside alarm clock; she’d woken up late. She scrambled out of bed to her vanity table, quickly putting on her everyday makeup and brushing her hair out.
After she was dressed in a simple white skirt and floral blouse, she made her way downstairs. She greeted her mom brightly and graciously accepted the piece of toast offered to her. Hoshiko was already sitting at the table eating a bowl of porridge, lifting her head to smile as her sister took the seat opposite.
They ate breakfast quickly and made sure to clear up their dishes after they ate. Hoshiko raced out of the house with a simple “Hurry up, we’re already late” before hopping into the passenger seat of the Mitsuko’s Mini. The drive to school was full of simple chatter and a mixture of pop and alternative music, a demand made by Hoshiko last year.
Hoshiko was busy telling Mitsuko about her classes for next year when they’d pulled up to school. The sisters parked next to Ben’s car, stepping out to greet their friends.
“Yo Suki, who do you think would win?” Mike immediately asked her instead of a greeting.
“What are you talking about?” She asked confusedly before turning towards where Mike then pointed, “Is that?“
“Edward and Jacob Black? Yep, I don’t know what they’re fighting about, but it seems pretty tense.” Jessica interrupted before she could finish.
Jacob's voice began to elevate as he got angrier, alarmed that her friend was close to a possible fight. Mitsuko stepped forward to try and intervene but was stopped by a strong grip on her wrist. Gasping at the sudden touch, she turned around, only to come face to face with Jasper Hale.
His face was stern and almost worried; brows furrowed, and he stared at her before speaking, "Don't; they know better than to get physical.”
“How do you know that?” She replied back, feeling confused again.
“Just trust me.” He smirked at her, causing a blush to spread across her cheeks.
“If you say so,” she conceded, pausing before continuing. “You have English first, don’t you?”
He didn’t speak, only nodding in reply. “Do you think I could walk with you? We’re in that class together.”
“I know.” Jasper spoke up. “And I don’t mind.” She smiled shyly at his response before gesturing for him to take the lead. It was only as they began walking that she realised Jasper hadn’t let go of her wrist the whole time they were talking, only letting go once she turned away from Edward and Jacob.
His touch returned as she walked up the front steps, a single hand placed on the small of her back to steady her as she walked. Jasper held the main doors open, which allowed her to step inside. It was then Mitsuko built up the courage to say what she’d been wanting to say to him since Friday. “Thank you, by the way.”
His steps faulted slightly as he turned to her, “What for?”
“It’s stupid,” she shook her head, “but on Friday you really helped me ground me, so thank you.”
“It’s not stupid, but you don’t need to thank me.” Jasper looked at Mitsuko deeply as he spoke. She had seen the Cullens eyes before, but Jasper’s seemed so much more intense than the others. It was like she could stare into the pools of amber all day.
‘You barely know him,’ she remained herself, unsure where these sudden feelings came from. Ever since Friday she’d felt a subtle itch under her skin as if her body was craving something; it only faded when she’d seen Jasper’s face.
Ignoring her rapid thoughts, she continued to walk next to Jasper down the corridor. Eventually, the pair arrived outside her English class. Stepping in, she noticed that her seat partner was absent today. Sighing, she sat down and prepared herself for a quiet class.
When she crouched to place her bag under her chair, she nearly jumped when she stood and found Jasper now sitting in the chair next to hers.
“You don’t mind if I sit here, do you?” He asked, looking intently.
“Not at all.” Mitsuko replied, smiling softly at him. They sat quietly next to each other while their teacher loaded up the movie on the monitor. As soon as he hit play, Jasper turned to her and whispered softly.
“How are you feeling?”
“Better than Friday, but I’ve been struggling with those episodes for a while, so I’m used to it.” There was something about Jasper that put her at ease; she couldn’t help but tell the truth.
“What exactly happened to you, if you don’t mind me asking?” He continued to whisper; neither was even attempting to watch the movie. Mitsuko hesitated slightly before answering.
“I get these... hallucinations sometimes,” she explained. “It’s not often, but when they happen, they tend to overwhelm me.”
“How do you deal with them?” Jasper asked, genuinely curious.
“Mostly medication, but it doesn’t work as well as it used to.” Mitsuko answered truthfully, and Jasper listened intently, his face full of concern. “I’ve kind of had a hard week.”
"Oh, do you want to… talk about it?”
“It’s…” She paused as a shot of grief ran through her. “My friend Riley Biers went missing in Seattle almost a year ago, and I’ve only just found out.”
“I’m sorry that happened.”
“I just wish I’d known sooner, you know?” Mitsuko explained, to which Jasper nodded in understanding, “Maybe I could’ve done something.”
Jasper lent towards her, cautiously placing his hands on her. She shivered under his cold touch but didn’t pull away. “Don’t do that to yourself; you have nothing to feel guilty about.”
“I don’t feel guilty.” She tried to state it firmly, but she knew it was a lie.
He smiled slightly. “Hate to break it to you, darling, but you wear your heart on your sleeve.”
She blushed and looked down at their hands were connected, noticing how he was softly stroking the back of her right hand. They sat there in silence for the rest of the lesson, just enjoying the comfort they felt from each other.
When the bell rang and the rest of the class began to stand, their hands finally separated. Jasper stood first, grabbing Mitsuko’s bag before grabbing his things as well. She smiled brightly as he helped her put the bag on her right shoulder before following him out of the room.
They walked side by side down the corridor, earning some strange looks from the other students. Yet the dark-haired girl paid them no mind and simply kept walking.
"You know," Jasper started, "people are staring at us."
Mitsuko simply smiled at him before replying, “Just ignore them; they have nothing better to do.”
He glanced over to her again, studying her profile as they walked. "You never get bothered by people watching you?"
“Of course I do, but if I let it affect me all the time, I'd never go anywhere.” She explained matter of factly before continuing, “You know they’re probably only staring at you.”
“Me?”
The dark-haired girl looked at him with an amused expression. "Yeah, we’ve never hung out before, and now here you are escorting me down the hallways like a boyfriend does.” but before he could respond, she continued, "Not that I mind."
"Well, my apologies," he replied with a smirk, his southern twang coming out slightly. "Maybe I just realised you were someone worth paying attention to."
“Thank you.” She blushed slightly but played it off once she realised that they’d arrived outside my classroom. "Well, this is my class; thanks for escorting me here.”
“Anytime Ma’am.” The blonde replied, dipping his head slightly in a small bow.
With a bright smile, she made her way into the class, but not before giving Jasper a small wave goodbye. For the rest of the day, Mitsuko had an extra pep in her step but also couldn’t stop thinking about Jasper.
As much as she enjoyed his company, she was confused. Ever since the Cullens returned from wherever they had disappeared, Jasper had suddenly become very interested in her, and she’d definitely noticed.
At lunch it was the same as always, the group laughing together except with a new addition. Jasper had taken the seat next to Mitsuko again, listening intently as she joked with her friends, and gently placed his hand on her back again, following the same circle motions he used yesterday. She couldn’t help but lean into the touch, feeling wave after wave of comfort and contentment.
“So Jasper,” Jessica spoke up, causing him to finally look away from the girl next to him. “Will you be there at the graduation party?”
“Um, yeah, I’m sure Alice will find a way to make me come,” he answered a little awkwardly.
Angela looked at Jessica with a bemused expression. “You know it’s happening at his house, right?”
“Well, yeah, I was just wondering; he usually keeps to himself,” she responded before trying to Jasper, “no offence though.”
“None taken.” He replied politely with a small nod.
Hoping to diffuse the tension, Mitsuko turned to the blonde and smiled at him, “It’ll be nice to see you there.”
Jasper relaxed visibly when Mitsuko spoke up. It was clear he had been feeling a bit tense from the conversation with Jessica, but her words put him at ease.
"Yeah," he agreed with a small smile. "It will be nice to see you too.”
After Jasper spoke, the bell rung, so everyone began making their way out of the cafeteria and to the next classes. Jasper again took on the duty of escorting Mitsuko to her next class. The pair walked in silence until they stopped in front of her classroom.
“We probably won’t see each other after this.” She began, “I have a committee meeting after school, but I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Yes, of course.” He nodded, “I will see you tomorrow.”
The two shared a smile, both excited for tomorrow but especially the party next week.

Chapter 4. A Sisterly Agreement
When she reopened her eyes, the first thing she did was immediately close them again, too blinded by the fluorescent lights above her. Mitsuko groaned as she tried to lift her hand to rub her face, quickly becoming confused when she felt resistance.
Slowly opening her eyes, she realised she wasn't at home in her own bed; in fact, she had no idea where she was. Alarmed, she tried to sit up but winced when a burning pain spread from her shoulder through the rest of her body.
Before panic could fully set in, she was able to turn her head and spot her sister sitting at her bedside. Hoshiko was busy looking at something on her phone, so she hadn't yet realised that Mitsuko was awake.
“H-hoshi?” She tried to speak, but she found herself struggling to speak. “What’s... What's going on?”
Hoshiko looked up from her phone at the sound of her sister's voice. Jumping out of her chair, she was quickly by Mitsuko’s side. “Oh my god, you scared us so much.”
“Am I in the hospital?” She asked as she continued looking around rapidly. When looked down, she realised the resistance she felt was from all the tubing connected from her hand to an IV.
Her sister nodded before explaining, “You got attacked by some kind of animal, lost a lot of blood; we thought you were going to die.”
As her sister spoke, a flash of red eyes appeared in Mitsuko's mind, and an overwhelming sense of fear settled in her stomach. “Riley… I saw Riley.”
“What?” Her little sister pulled away from her slightly, looking at her with a confused expression.
“He was there!” She exclaimed as the heart monitor’s beeps began to grow louder and faster slightly.
Hoshiko began to gently stroke her sister’s hair as she whispered in attempts to calm her down, “Hey, it’s okay; if you saw him, I believe you.”
The two sisters were silent for a moment, broken when Mitsuko suddenly turned to Hoshiko with wide eyes as she spoke.
“I think it was him…”
“What do you mean?” Her sister’s brow furrowed with confusion, eyes full of concern for a sister’s well-being.
“I think Riley… attacked me.” She whispered to her sister, afraid that someone would overhear them. Her mind was still going back to that night; Riley looked so different than the last time they’d been together. He seemed colder and more dangerous, two words that Mitsuko never thought she’d use to describe someone she’d known her whole life.
“Suki, what are you talking—“ Before Hoshiko could finish her question, the doors opened, and Dr. Cullen walked into the room flanked by two nurses.
Upon seeing that she was awake, the two nurses began to flutter about the room, checking her chart and adjusting her IV. Carlisle stepped closer to her bed and spoke softly, “Miss Tanaka, it’s good to see you awake. How are you feeling?”
“I feel fine, just a little sore is all.” She said simply, before continuing, “When can I go home?”
“I want to keep you in just for a few more days just for observations; if all goes well, I’ll be happy to discharge you.” He said as he grabbed her chart and began the required checks.
"Your injuries were quite extensive, but I'm happy with how quickly you've been able to recover," he spoke as he carefully shined a small torch in her face, directing her to follow it with her eyes, "and although I did have some concerns about internal bleeding, it seems you got out relatively unscathed, other than the rather nasty wound on your neck."
As he pointed it out, Mitsuko couldn't help but look down as she realised her neck to her shoulder was thickly bandaged, further limiting her movement.
Carlise continued the checks silently, only speaking every now and then to check her pain levels. Mitsuko wasn't in much pain; she was just overcome with a sense of confusion and fear about what had happened that night.
When he checked her right ankle, she let out a sharp hiss as he adjusted it slightly. "Looks like just a sprain," the doctor explained. "Must have happened when you fell; you're lucky that it's not broken."
"Don't exactly feel lucky…" she pessimistically murmured, earning a small slap on the arm from Hosiko, who was still sitting close to her side. "Sorry, I'm just tired.
Dr. Cullen took her attitude in stride, "It's normal to feel this way, especially after a traumatic experience."
Next the nurse carefully lifted her into a sitting position so that Carlise could listen to her heart. As he placed the stethoscope against her, she couldn't help but shiver. Amusingly, she thought his hands felt colder than the metal.
Once Carlise seemed happy with his assessment, he looked at her softly before speaking, “All your friends have been quite worried about you. I imagine you’ll have a lot of visitors these next coming days.”
“Oh gosh,” she exclaimed as she realised where the incident happened, “I ruined the graduation party.”
At her words, Hoshiko jumped forward to grab her face, forcing Mitsuko to look at her. “You didn’t ruin anything; whatever attacked you did.”
“Speaking of which,” the doctor spoke again, causing the two sisters to look at him again, “the police are here to ask a few questions, but only if you’re comfortable, of course.”
“It’s okay…” she replied with a small smile, “You can let them in.”
With that, Carlisle walked out of the room for a few minutes, only to come back followed by Charlie and another partner.
“How you doing, kid?” He asked once he approached her bed, “I know your mom’s been beside herself worrying about ya.”
“Where is she?”
“At work, said she needed to, so she was distracted.” Charlie explained as he looked at her sympathetically. When all she did was nod in understanding, he cleared his throat slightly before speaking, “Do you think you could tell us exactly what happened?”
“I was at the party; erm, I was feeling a bit lightheaded, so I went outside,” she began to explain. “And I don’t know why, but I found myself walking into the woods.”
“Why?” He asked, his face furrowed with clear confusion.
“I don’t know, just like a… feeling, I guess.” She responded before continuing, “Anyway, I ended up in a clearing and…”
Mitsuko paused; as much as she trusted Charlie, she also knew how crazy she would sound. If she told them about Riley, they’d just put it down as a hallucination from grief or something, and the next thing she knows, she’s in the psych ward.
So, she took a breath and lied, “It’s all hazy from there… sorry.”
Charlie nodded in understanding, but next to him, Carlisle had a strange expression on his face. As if he knew there was more to her story, but before she could question it, he was already leading Charlie and his partner out.
"What the hell was that?" A voice broke Mitsuko from her thoughts, and she turned to face her sister. "Why didn't you tell them what you told me?”
"'Cause I know how crazy it sounds." She replied in a hushed whisper, "If I'm going to find out what happened, I think I need to do it alone."
Hoshiko almost laughed at her older sister's sheer audacity, "Absolutely not; if he tried to kill you, there's no way I'm letting you do this alone."
Shaking her head rapidly, she quickly rejected her sister's offer, "No, I'm not letting you put yourself in harm's way."
"You either let me come with you, or I go out those doors and tell everyone what you told me."
As much as she wanted to call out Hoshi's bluff, she knew her sister. If summer camp ten years ago had taught her anything, it's that Hoshi will do anything that she says she will. So with a heavy sigh of resignation, she nodded her head, "Fine, but if anything goes wrong, I told you so.”
Hoshiko nodded in understanding, "So when do we start?"
"Seattle, I think, but not till I get out of here," she said simply. "For now, you have to promise me something..."
"What?"
"Don't do any investigations without me, okay?"
Hoshiko simply rolled her eyes, so she repeated herself, "I'm serious, Hoshi, don't put yourself in danger for me; this could be some massive crime gang or something."
With a small groan she agreed, "Fine, I'll be careful, promise."
"Thank you," she said gratefully. "Now get out of here; you can't stay here all day; besides, you have school tomorrow.”
Before she shooed her sister out of the room, Mitsuko made sure to pull her into a tight hug. Closing her eyes, she savoured the feeling of having her little sister cradled in her arms.
As they pulled away, they looked at each other one more time before Hoshiko finally pulled away, "I'll see you later, oneesan."
"See you later." With that, her sister left the room, leaving Mitsuko in silence.
Left alone with her thoughts, all she could do was think back to that night again. She knew Riley was there; that was a fact she knew. Yet, as she thought more about that night, she still had no idea what made her walk into that clearing in the first place. It was as if her subconscious knew Riely would be there and guided her to him, but why?
"Stop thinking so hard." She whispered to herself in comfort, "Just go to sleep; everything will be fine."
Pulling the covers up, she shuffled further under them and closed her eyes, letting sleep take over her as her mind still raced.
Elsewhere, a young girl with black hair approached the service desk. The woman at the desk acknowledged the girl carefully before asking, "Where'd you need to go, darling?"
The girl paused before finally answering, "Seattle. I need to go to Seattle."
Hoshiko knew she'd be breaking her promise, but if Riley was who Mitsuko saw in the woods, then she needed to find him and quickly. It was only right to start in the city where he vanished.
Hopefully, there she'd find some answers.

In which Spencer gets roped into watching Twilight Chapter Title: Gossip by Maneskin
Hotch had forced her to go leave for two weeks after her shoulder injury, something she found completely unnecessary. She’s remembers how her protests fell on the deaf.
“I’m telling you sir I’m fine, it’s basically a surface wound.” She’d tried to downplay, hiding her wince when the stitchings pulled slightly.
“Federov it was a clean gun shot through your right shoulder, the EMTs said you were lucky I didn’t hit a major artery.”
“But-“ Hana began to argue before the unit chief cut her off.
“Go home and get some rest that’s an order.”
“Okay Dad.” She’d had meant to mutter it under her breath but it was still loud enough for Hotch to hear.
“Fedorov”
“Right sorry I’m leaving.”
Now the young agent found herself lying on her apartment couch watching some trashy reality tv, while numb on pain medication. She was in the middle of laughing was an argument started between the main cast on screen when there was a knock on the door.
She grimaced as she slowly stood up and made her way over to the door and opened it find a familiar face.
“Lila!” She exclaimed to her friend, “What are you doing here?”
Her friend smiled brightly before stepping into the apartment holding a large bag. “I’m here to keep you company, what didn’t you tell me you got shot.”
“Im sorry I just didn’t want anyone to worry about me.” She answered as she moved back to the couch.
“You mean you didn’t want any pity?” Lila replied, leaving Hana speechless. “I know it’s how you were raised but you need to understand that it’s okay for you get help from people.”
“I know.” Hana begrudgingly accepted, “What did you bring?”
“Well usually I’d bring drinks from the club but I don’t know what kinda meds they’ve got you on, so I hope you like herbal teas and shitty snacks.”
“Aww what would I do without you?” Hana smiled brightly as she sat back down on the couch, “Oh and I forgot to say thank you for those shots the other night, the team was very happy.”
“Of course I always take care of my favourite patrons.” Lila said causing Hana to laugh as she shuffled to side to allow her friend to join her on the couch.
The two friends sat next to each for most of the day, eating the snacks and had decided to binge a movie Lila had also told Hana to watch. She thought it was okay but was getting frustrated at the inaccuracy when it came to vampire mythology; causing a friendly debate between the pair.
“You’re thinking about things too carefully!”
“No I’m not,” Hana argued back to her friend, “there’s not practical reason for vampires to sparkle, also why can they see their reflection. At this point they’re more like superhuman cannibals than vampires.”
“It’s a cheesy romance movie, it’s meant to be accurate.”
“Well why direct it so seriously.”
“Shut up and watch the movie.” Her friend responded, followed swiftly by her smacking Hana in the face with a couch cushion.
They watch the rest of the movie with minimal jibes from Hana about the inaccuracies, and were about the watch the second one until there was another knock on the door. The agent was about to rise from the couch but was swiftly stopped by Lila.
“Stop right there, you are injured and shouldn’t move, I’ll get the door.” She chastised as she walked towards the apartment door.
“It’s my arm not my leg.” Hana responded, “I can move, I just hurts.”
“Yeah sure.” Hana’s friend laughed before swinging the door open. “Who are you?”
The man at the door seemed surprised to see Lila, he cleared his throat before answering, “Hi, I’m Doctor Spencer Reid with the BAU is Hana in?”
“She is.” Lila smirked before opening the door wider to let him in, “Hana you have a guest.”
“Who?” The dark brunette asked and lifting her head up to see who’s there; her smile instantly widened. “Spencer! What are you doing here?”
“I was sent to give some information,” he started, “but I also wanted to check on you.”
“Awww how sweet.” Lila spoke suggestively to her friend. In response Hana waved her hand to shoe her away to the kitchen, her friend put her hands up in surrender but still did as she’d asked.
Once her friend had left the room, she turned back to Spencer and gestured him to set next her on the couch. Surprisingly comfortable in an unfamiliar place, he walked in and swiftly took a seat next to the young agent.
“What do you need to tell me?” She’d asked once he was comfortable.
Spencer took a deep breath before continuing, “Giuseppe Montolo is dead.”
“What?”
“It was during Morgan’s interview today, he uh.” He stopped and swallowed hard, suddenly uncomfortable, causing Hana to reach out with her good hand.
“It’s okay you can tell me.” She soothed, unconsciously stroking his hand.
Spencer nodded, “He started choking and died in the interview room, they think it was poison.”
“Did he mention anything useful beforehand?”
“Apparently the dirty dozen isn’t a group of people on a hit-list, it’s just one thing.”
She hummed in understanding, “But we don’t know what that thing is?”
“Yeah.” He answered, and hesitated again before continuing, “Do you know what it is?”
“No, it wasn’t a thing when I was active.”
“Just thought I check.”
“Sorry I was a dead end.”, She joked.
At Hana’s word he straightened on the couch and turned his body to face her, “No, you’re not a dead end at all, I didn’t come to only get information from you. I figured you should be told in person, I mean you did know him.”
“Spencer it’s fine I was only joking.” She soothed him, stroking his hand against in small circles, “Do wanna stay and watch a weird vampire movie?”
“Actually, I’m on leave to for little bit,”
“Oh why?” She asked with minor head tilt.
“Well I’m flying to Vegas on Friday to visit my mom for the week.”
“Oh really? I’m sure she’ll be happy to see you.”
At Hana’s words Spencer seemed to withdraw slightly and had a small unsure smile on his face, “I hope so.”
“Why wouldn’t she be?” She then realised that question was probably a bit to personal and quickly backtracked with a quiet, “I mean if you feel comfortable tolling about it.”
“No, I mean I don’t mind,” He reassured before continuing, “My Mom has Schizophrenia and she currently in a care facility but the doctor’s say she’s not doing too well, so I’ve took a sabbatical for a few days to go see her.”
“Well that’s very good of you,” she smiled warmly at him, “and I know she doesn’t know me but send her my love when you go.”
“I’m sure she’ll appreciate it.” He laughed slightly before chasing the topic, “So what’s the movie called?”
“Well you’ve missed the first one but we’re gonna watch second one which is called…” Hana trailed off, she turned her head towards to shout at her friend, “Lila what’s this movie called?”
In response, Lila made her way back into the living room carrying two bowls of popcorn, “New Moon, is the good doctor joining us?” She asked winking at Hana.
Hana glared at her friend to stop her from speaking, Lila simply smirked back at Hana in teasing. She’d told all her friends about the drunken kiss that her and Spencer had shared, but she’d also sworn them to secrecy; especially when it came to Spencer.
The man himself spoke causing the two friends to look away from their silent conversation, “I hope you don’t mind, Hana asked if I wanted to stay and I’ve actually been given the day off.”
“Yeah don’t worry it’s fine.” Lila replied as she sat down the armchair to let Hana and Spencer share the couch. “Have you ever seen Twilight?”
“Honestly no, although it has been recommended in the past so I know the general premise.’
Pleased with his answer Lila pressed play and the movie started. The three watched the movie quietly until they got a scene in the meadow where the main characters were lying in the sunlight, at this point Spencer spoke up.
“I thought he was vampire,” he began, “He shouldn’t be able to be in the sunlight.”
This caused Lila to groan, “Not you too, both of you just watch the movie.”
Spencer apologised quietly, and Hana shuffled closer to whisper in his ear. “Sorry about that Lila doesn’t like commentary with movies, if you want you can just tell me if you have something to say.”
And so as they watch the movie, she enjoyed how every now and then he leaned in to whisper a random fact. At one point he whispered a fact so unbelievable Hana couldn’t help but laugh during a very serious scene, causing Lila to shush them as she watched the TV in interest.
Each time Spencer would lean over Hana would shuffle just a little bit closer, but after doing this so many times, once the movie had finished and the third one had started Hana was casually leaning into Spencer’s arm that had wrapped around her shoulders.
She turned to Spencer suddenly aware of their close proximity, “You sure you’re good to stay so late?”
“Well it’s only four right now so, yeah I’m okay for another few hours.”
“Good” She smiled at him, before passing him the bowl of popcorn. In return, Spencer took a handful of popcorn from the bowl while smiling back at her. The pair turned back to the screen and chuckled softly as something funny happened in the movie.
As the film continued, Hana felt her head grow heavy and out of reflex titled her head down so it rested on the good doctor’s shoulder, “Is this okay?”
Jerking slightly at her question, the doctor looked at her before replying, “Oh yeah, it’s okay.” He then relaxed further by fully wrapping his arm around her and pulling her sightly closer.
Hana stayed comfortably in the same position through the remaining movies left in the series, enjoying each time Spencer continuously whispered in her ear. Out the corner of her eye she noticed Lila glancing over towards the two and smirking before looking back at the T.V. Opting to simply ignore her friend’s teasing glances, she missed how every now and then Spencer would glance down at Hana to make sure she was still comfortable, smiling softly and then look back to the screen.
Hana also failed to notice that every time she laughed at something on screen, Spencer would follow suit with a fond chuckle. It was strange how close the pair had become despite only knowing each other for two months but they seemed to just click, and were already so comfortable with each other’s presence.
By the time they’d finished the entire movie series with small breaks in between, it was already half eleven at night and Hana was exhausted. Lila was packing up her stuff and heading to the door.
“Hey are you going to be okay by yourself tonight,” She’d asked her friend before she left, “I know Sasha’s out of town and I don’t think I’m comfortable leaving you alone.”
“I can stay if you want?” Spencer spoke up looking between the two women, causing Lila to smirk again. “Make sure you’re not in pain through the night?”
Hana stop still in surprise at how willing Spencer was to stay over for her; to make sure she was okay. “Yeah,” She spoke once she gotten over her shock, “You can stay as long as you want, I can see if I’ve got anything for you to wear.”
“If the good doctor’s staying then I’m gonna head out,” Lila moved to hug her friend, “Love you Hana and take care.”
“Thanks, Lila Love you too.” And with that she closed her apartment door behind her friend and turned back towards Spencer who was clearing the living room for her.
“You have to do this you know?” She spoke up causing Spencer to turn to her.
“Do what?”
“You know…” She paused before continuing, “Look after me, I’m not completely inept.”
“I know but you are injured,” He began “Just going to make sure you’re not in too much pain through the night.”
She was about to reply in thanks but she was cut off when a yawn was forced through her body, “God, I am so fucking tired.”
“Yeah? I can finish up if you want to go rest.”
“Thanks, but lemme grab something for you to wear.” With that she moved into her room, and opened to her bottom drawers where her most recent ex had left some lounge clothes. Pulling a set out she nodded in assurance that they should fit Spencer before gathering them in her arms and heading back out her room. While she found the living room empty she moved towards the kitchen where she found Spencer washing the glasses and bowl the three had used.
“Hey,” She called to gain his attention, which she did when he turned towards her while still rinsing the last bowl. “I found some clothes you can use.”
“Really? Thanks.” He actually sounded appreciative when he took the small clothes pile.
“I do have another room but it’s my roommate’s and it be weird you sleeping there without me asking, would you be fine taking the couch, it’s pretty comfy.”
“Don’t worry I’m sure I’ll be fine, thank you though.” Spencer replied giving her a small smile.
“Well I’m gonna head to bed,” Hana spoke as she made her way to her room, “Goodnight and thanks again.”
“Goodnight and you’re welcome.” She smiled widely at him before shutting her door, she then rushed to the bathroom and splashed cold water on herself. She need to get a hold of herself.

Return to Masterlist | Next Chapter Chapter 1. The Tanakas
In all the time since the Cullens had moved to Forks, Mitsuko Tanaka had probably spoken to them once. Even when Bella Swan had moved into town and had somehow quickly become entangled with them, Mitsuko still only ever saw them in passing.
If it wasn’t for a friend’s severe mental state, she probably wouldn’t have noticed when the Cullens left a few months ago. She’d tried to be there for Bella, often appearing at her house with various baked goods, but her friend remained unresponsive. Instead, she began to help Charlie around the house since Bella was unable to help in her condition.
This continued for nearly half the school year, Mitsuko’s worry never lessening even after Bella rejoined the group’s table. Then suddenly one day she’d arrived at school to discover that the Cullens had suddenly reappeared, their table occupied once more.
She’d asked Bella what had happened, but her friend simply excused that The Cullens had simply missed their friends too much. ‘What friends?’ She remembers thinking. The only people the Cullens interacted with was Bella, and that was mainly because she was dating Edward.
Yet, despite the mysterious disappearance and reappearance of the Cullens, the strangest thing Mitsuko experienced was that Edward would now follow Bella to their group's table at lunch. Mitsuko had never even had a single conversation with this guy, and now he was suddenly sitting with them at lunch. Additionally, even then he never really spoke to her; he simply held Bella’s hand and would listen to the rest of the group interact.
She tried to ignore her overthinking and focus on her studies; graduation was coming up, and she wanted to be prepared for college and enjoy her time with her friends before some moved away.
Mitsuko had grabbed her lunch bag from her locker before going to the cafeteria and sitting down at her usual table. She uttered a ‘Hi’ to Bella and her boyfriend, who was already sitting down, before joining in with the lively conversation.
"Jess, are you still worried about your speech?” She’d asked her friend, and she scribbled away on a notepad.
“I just don’t want it to be a stereotypical graduation speech, ya know?”
“You’re getting too stressed about it, here." Mike spoke before stealing the notepad from the girl, “My fellow students. Cool. Right? We are the future. Anything is possible, if you just believe.”
Both Mitsuko and Angela laughed at his antics, with Angela adding a sarcastic “Nice” between her laughter. Ignoring the two, he continued, “Blah, blah, blah, and you got yourself a speech.”
He passed the notepad back to Jess, who ripped the bag out before speaking, “No, this will be my speech. When I want everyone to throw diplomas at my head. So, thank you.” As she spoke, she crumpled the piece of paper and threw it back at Mike’s face.
He ignored the paper and smiled smugly before replying, “Ya gotta embrace the cliches, Jess.”
“They have the bread and butter of all valedictorians,” Eric chimed in from next to Angela, causing her to also chime into the conversation. “And that is why you are not valedictorian.”
“Give the guy a break, Ang,” her boyfriend Ben spoke up, his arms wrapping around her shoulder.
“And Jess doesn't need clichés. Speech is gonna be epic.” Bella spoke up, smirking at the boys, earning a proud smile from Jess.
“Epic? It'll change lives.” She stated confidently.
“I’m sure it’ll change mine." She nudged Jessica as she spoke, earning an appreciative side hug. The group was interrupted from continuing when three other Cullens approached the table and sat down.
Alice and Emilie would occasionally join their group during lunch, mainly so Alice could spend time with Bella. However, Mitsuko found herself getting along with the pixie’s gorgeous girlfriend the more they spoke. Today, Alice had somehow managed to drag Jasper to the table as well, pushing him down into the seat next to Mitsuko.
“I’ve decided to throw a party.” Alice announced brightly as she took her seat.
“After all, how many times are we gonna graduate high school?” Emilie smirked as she spoke, and Mitsuko heard Edward stifle a laugh. Weird.
“A party? At your place?” Angela asked, confused by the sudden invite.
Jessica had immediately perked up at the invitation, “I’ve never seen your house.”
“No one's ever seen their house.” Eric leaned in, replying to Jessica.
“I’ve heard it’s in the woods or something…” Lauren spoke up in mock disgust, but Mitsuko knew she was just as excited as Jessica.
“Another party, Alice?” Edward uttered, seemingly annoyed with his sister, to which Alice insisted, “It'll be fun.”
“Yeah. That's what you said last time.” Bella spoke, agreeing with her boyfriend’s hesitation.
“I think it’ll be fun…” She began to encourage when she noticed Alice start to zone out, probably upset at the less than enthusiastic reaction, but trailed off when she noticed Jasper stiffen next to her. “Hey, you okay?”
Surprised at the sudden question, the blonde turned towards her. "Apologies, just had a sudden thought.”
“Oh yeah, I get those too; don’t worry.” Mitsuko comforted, unconsciously patting his arm in comfort. He stiffed again, and she was going to apologise until a feeling of dread washed over her. “Hey Angie, could you pass me my clear bag?”
Her friend furrowed her brows in confusion but still pushed the clear bag towards her. Mitsuko quickly unzipped it to pull out a strip of tablets. Before she could take her tablet though, a loud pained scream blared into her head, causing her to jump slightly and cover her ears.
"Suki, are you okay?” Katie whispered to her gently to avoid too much attention, “Did you miss your dosage this morning?”
Her close friends were the only ones aware that she took medicine due to her auditory hallucinations. She’d had from the age of fifteen, just before the Cullens had moved to Forks. Her mother had consulted with several doctors who had all come to the conclusion that while it wasn’t schizophrenia, they didn’t have any other diagnosis; she’d been on a prescription ever since.
The scream was continuous and getting louder, joined by various other screams making Mitsuko press her hands into her ears harder. Her head was pounding from the noise, and she was completely unaware of what was happening around; expect for a single comforting hand on her back rubbing her in circles. She tried to focus on the motion of the hand, forcing the screaming to quieten, allowing her to remove her hands and lift her head back up to face a table of concerned faces.
“I’m sorry guys, I don’t know what happened." She said quietly, still recovering from her small episode.
“It’s okay, we’re just worried about you, is all. Maybe you should go home and have some rest?” Angela suggested gently.
Mitsuko nodded in agreement and gathered her things, and as she stood, the hand finally moved from her back, and she realised who it belonged to. Jasper Hale had been the one gently rubbing her back; he was the hand that had grounded her. ‘Don’t overthink it; he’s just being nice,’ she chastised herself mentally before her mind could reel.
As she was walking through the cafeteria, she spotted her younger sister, Hoshiko, sitting with her own group of friends. She figured she should tell her sister rather than letting her worry, plus she was her ride home. “Hoshi!” She called to her sister, getting her attention.
“Suki, are you okay?” She asked as Mitsuko got closer. Hoshiko was aware of her older sister’s mental health and hallucination issues, but Mitsuko had made sure it didn’t affect her life too much. As the older sister, she felt her sister should always come first and had also instructed her mom as such, even when they were only a year and two months apart.
Mitsuko waved her sister off before reassuring her, “I’m okay, but I am going home early today, so could Rory give you a ride today?”
"Yeah, that’s fine." Hoshiko nodded in understanding, “Just message when you get home, okay?”
“Of course.” She then placed a soft kiss on her sister's head before heading to the nurse office. After she got the okay from the nurse, not that she really needed one, Mitsuko left the building and began walking to her car. It was a little white Mini Cooper; she was lucky enough to find one she could afford that was still in pretty good condition. She opened the doors and tossed her pink shoulder bag onto the pink leathered back seats, which she had done over the summer.
She tried to ignore the leftover feeling of dread from her episode and listened to the music on her custom CD on the way home. It was luckily a very relaxing car journey. Lucky because as she pulled in to her house, she noticed a police car waiting outside.
Concerned, Mitsuko scrambled to grab her and things and got out of the car. As she stepped into the house, she was greeted by Charlie and her mom sitting down in the living room, pausing in their conversation when the door audibly latched.
“I um had an episode today,” she said meekly, explaining her early arrival home. “What’s going on?”
“What don’t you sit down?” The police chief offered as her mom shuffled on the couch to give her daughter room to sit. Cautiously, she walked to the couch and gently sat down, preparing herself for the obviously bad news. “It’s Riley Biers; he’s gone missing.”
As Charlie spoke, Mitsuko felt the felling of dread return. She let out a small gasp in disbelief. “He’s studying at UW; he should be in Seattle.”
“Nobody’s seen him since last November,” he replied grimly. “Have you heard from him at all?”
“We haven’t really talked since he moved; he said that he’d been too busy with his friends.” She answered, rubbing her lips together while trying to stop the tears. “Why are you only telling us now?”
“His parents were mainly talking to the Seattle police, but they’ve just closed the case." He explained, his voice measured and calm, “So they’ve contacted me, and Forks PD are going to take the case.”
Mitsuko nodded in understanding, but her mind began to buzz, overwhelmed with her emotions. Her mom pulled into a hug, and she finally broke down as a sob escaped her lips. They stayed there for a few minutes, Charlie wanting to let her calm down before he left.
“I’m sorry, kid; let me know if you need anything.” He said to her a final time before heading out the door. Still buried in her mom’s tight embrace, she barely lifted her head to nod before burying her face again when she heard the click of the lock.
“I’m so sorry, Mitsuko.” Her mother whispered softly to her, pulling away. She allowed her mom to gently wipe her tears away. “How about to get some rest and make you some tea, okay?”
She nodded as much as she could with her face cupped in mom’s hands. Her mom stood and made her way to the kitchen to get everything ready. Mitsuko made the decision to get off the couch and make her way upstairs to her room; she pulled back her covers before lying down. Under the comfort of her bed, she felt her eyes grow heavy; the day had clearly taken its toll on her.
So tired, she fell into a deep sleep, only awoken when she felt some pull back the covers again and crawl into the bed next to her. She opened her eyes to come face to face with her younger sister’s concerned face. “I guess mom told you what happened?”
“Yeah…” Hoshiko whispered back, “I just can’t believe it.”
She nodded before reaching out and pulling her sister into a tight hug. The sisters had always been close to Riley, having been his neighbours since they moved to forks at the ages of ten and nine, respectively. While Riley had drifted from them as he grew up, he still contacted them every now and then, always making the same joke about how they were only a year away from being twins. Neither of them would get that message again.
Yet as they held each other close, their pain washed away. While the world was harsh, the Tanaka sisters would always have each other.
Doing Time | Criminal Minds S.R
Spencer and Hana should probably talk about the other night, if only their wan't so important and distracting. Or maybe they're just coming up with excuses. Chapter Title: Vegas by Doja Cat
Spencer and Hana hadn’t spoken about the drunken kiss they’d shared only a few weeks ago. It had only been a three days after that night they’d been sent out on another case in , but once they’d gotten back to DC neither knew how broach the subject. Even now as they sat next to each other on the jet heading to Las Vegas, New Mexico, they both struggled to start a conversation about that night; so they didn’t.
“I wish it was the fun Las Vegas.” Hana complained as she ate the salad Sasha had made her that morning.
“Did you know I’m from Vegas?”
“Really?” She turned to him, perking up in interest, “Does this mean I should bring you with the next time I head to the casinos?”
“I would sat yes but I’m actually banned from majority of the casinos in Vegas.” He informed her nonchalantly.
“Holy shit!” She exclaimed in surprise, “I was wrong you got a little bad side to you, Doctor.”
He laughed at her, which encouraged Hana to laugh as well. Out of habit she hit him slightly on the arm as she continued to laugh, before catching her breath. The pair were soon joined by the rest of the team in order to get a general profile before they land.
“Is there even anything interesting about this Las Vegas?” Hana questioned to start the discussion, which Spencer was happy to contribute.
“In the late 19th century, it was a booming railroad hub with a reputation for lawlessness, and apparently, outlaws are a part of the town's genetics. Billy the Kid lived there, and Doc Holliday himself had a saloon there before going to meet Wyatt Earp in Tombstone.”
“The more things change, the more things stay the same.” Rossi chimed in, looking through the case file.
“All the victims in both instances were teenagers, except for Jose Rivera.”
“A younger staff, that's pretty typical for a night shift.” Morgan chimed in, to add extra information.
“The unsubs might have considered that. It would be easier to subdue a group of kids.”
Tara leaned forward slightly so she could contribute, “Almost an identical M.O. Copycat or no, why go back to this town and do this again?
“They could be sending some kind of message to announce their return.” Spencer suggested, followed by Rossi’s other idea.
“Or it just might be criminal ego. They got away with it the first time. Why not do it again?”
“Could also be about reliving it, if it is the same unsubs they might be wanting to relive the ‘glory days’.” Hana noted although she didn’t consider killing teenagers and arson as something someone should see as their ‘glory days’
“With unsubs this violent, how do you just disappear and go dormant for 6 years?” Morgan questioned, continuing to build the profile.
Hotch turned towards Morgan before speaking, “They may have been in prison. That would explain the criminal experience.”
“Crime U., best education taxpayer money can buy.” Rossi uttered making Hana smirk slightly, yet she hid it behind her hand at the glance she received from Hotch.
“When we land, I'll have Garcia compile a list of recently released convicts in the area. Morgan, you and Reid go with Federov to the coroner when we land. Lewis, you're with Dave and me at the local PD.”
With that the team waited until they landed until they wait their separate ways. Hana followed Spencer and Morgan to one of the 3 cars waiting for them before heading off to the coroner. The arrived only a few minutes later, exiting the vehicle the trio made the way towards the building. The wind was slightly strong and kept blowing Hana’s hair into her face. She gather her hair and went to tie it into a pony tail only to realise that she didn’t have a hair tie on either wrist. Sighing heavily, she released her hair, allowing to flow in the wind.
As they continued walking, Hana felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to face Spencer to her right. He handed her something before continuing towards the building. She looked down to see that he had handed her a small black hair tie. Smiling slightly, she pulled her hair backup and tied into a messy ponytail.
“Thanks!” She called over to Spencer, who turned and smiled in reply.
Once they entered the building the met with the coroner who led them through to the morgue where the three victims laid on separate metal autopsy table. Hana felt a strange feeling as looked at the victims, this was the first time she’d seen someone younger than her. They had so much life left in them, so much potential. She wanted to catch these assholes. Or maybe just kill them.
Spencer leaned in to assess the victims, “Several antemortem wounds, facial lacerations, fractured jaw, a fractured skull.”
“Yeah, it was a brutal beating. All 3 of them had broken ribs, too.” The coroner responded as he read from his autopsy report.
“And ligature marks.” The doctor noted as he continued look over the bodies.
The coroner nodded before continuing, “Looks like the boys were bound with their own belts and electrical wires. I found leather and melted plastic in their clothes.” He spoke as he lead them towards the female victim, “Renee Acosta was different. There's evidence of sexual assault.”
“Any recoverable DNA?”, Morgan asked.
“None. Whatever wasn't destroyed by the fire got washed away by the sprinklers. But she was recovered without clothes on. And based on the cotton and nylon fibres I found around her wrists, I think they restrained her with her own underwear.”
Spencer looked up from the female victim, “That's precisely what happened to the female victim 6 years ago.”
“Those details weren't released to the press. These aren't copycats. These are the same guys.” Morgan noted in reply.
Hana looked between the two other agents before speaking, “The question still stands, I mean why come back now?”
As it turns out only one of the unsubs was the original perpetrators from 6 years ago. Duke Mason had returned due his old flame, who most likely gave birth to his son before he was imprisoned all those years ago. Garcia, the wonder that she is, was able to find Tammy Vasquez’ address, and now Hana was sat next to Morgan as the team drove their way over there.
When they arrived Chief Montoya reached the house first and made his way to the door to knock, everyone else gathered behind him.
“Ms. Vasquez! Police! Hello? Anybody home?” He called multiple times with seemingly no answer, “Nobody here.”
They turned to leave before Morgan heard a muffled cry in the distance, causing him to pause, “Wait a minute. You hear that?”, He moved towards the door before knocking, “FBI! Anybody here?”
Hana moved closer to the door and heard more sobbing coming from the house, she nodded at Morgan to show she heard it too. “There's somebody in there.”
The officers went around the back as Morgan kicked open the door. Moving through the house, Hana made her way through following closely behind Morgan. Turning a corner the pair found an older woman tied up with duct tape across her mouth.
“Guys.” Morgan called as he made his way to the woman tied up, “It's ok. It's ok, I got you. I got you. Are you hurt?”
“No. I'm fine. He took them. He took them both.”
“We need to issue an Amber alert.” Rossi stated a turned around back outside the house. Hana stayed for moment longer making sure the other woman was okay, before following her team outside.
She walked towards Morgan and Rossi who were speaking to each other. While she didn’t catch the beginning of the conversation she heard Rossi’s question to Morgan. “What happened to Turner?”
“I bet it got pretty ugly when they split up.” Morgan suggested, car pulled up the scene and Spencer step out running slightly towards them.
“Hotch is out coordinating roadblocks and canvassing the area, but so far nothing.” Spencer spoke, giving them an update.
“Why switch directions are risk coming all the way back here?”
Rossi shrugged slightly before answering, “He's strung out and believes that boy Cole is his son. He's capable of anything.”
“We should extend the Amber alert.” Spencer suggested to which the team all nodded in a agreement.
Chief Montoya shouted as he made his way over to the team, “Agents! Tammy Vasquez' pickup truck was spotted heading south on Route 34.”
“Is that far from here?”
“About 10 miles or so. State police have major roadways on the other end blocked off so he can't get out, but it cuts through the Santa Fe National Forest. If he knows what he's doing, he can hole up out there for weeks.”
“Where would he go to access fresh water?”
“There's an old abandoned campground. It doesn't get used much. Sometimes the kids go up there to drink.”
“He'd want to go someplace familiar.” Rossi observed
“That’s probably where he took them.” Hana stated as Spencer turned to her, a strange expression on his face.
“Agents, if you don't mind me making a suggestion,” Montoya spoke as he lifted a map for everyone to see, “I know that place like the back of my hand.”
Hana stood next to Rossi as her and the team listened as he pointed to the map at a certain point where they could move if they wanted to catch Mason by surprise. After the plan was set up, they separated into small groups and headed towards the campsite.
When they arrived Hana noticed the car park up, and two figures that appeared to be arguing, she turned to Rossi who nodded to indicate it was time to intervene. Signalling to the other groups who moved in to the figures.
Noticing the guns each of them was holding, Morgan stood out slightly to announce their presence, “FBI, drop the weapon!”
In response, Hana heard the one with the long hair shout something before the pair began to fire at the police and agents in the trees. In the firefight they were able to take the long haired with one sniper shot, but Mason stayed up longer.
Hana step out for one moment in attempt to get mother shot in, when she felt red hot pain exploded in her right side. She moved back behind the tree and put her hand against the pain source; only to find her hand coated in blood. The asshole had managed to get a shot clean through her shoulder.
“Shit!” She cursed as she put her back on the wound, “You motherfucker!”
“Language!” She heard the Rossi shout over from his position.
“With all due respect sir,” she replied, “I’ve been fucking shot!”
While she was shouting back she noticed the firefight had finally ended and saw Mason lying on the ground. The lack of bullets firing allowed Rossi to make his over to where she was now sitting against the tree.
“Don’t worry it was clean shot, I’ll just need stitches.” She reassured as her unit chief looked at her shoulder in concern.
“Someone should still take a look at it before we leave.” He ordered as he grabbed her uninjured left arm to help her up.
She smiled wryly at him, the pain still making her dizzy. “Careful, Sir someone might think you like me.”
Rossi laughed slightly before replying, “Oh we wouldn’t want that.”
After Hana was patched, she joined her team at the funeral of the victims, dressed in black sat between Spencer and Tara on a wooden church pew. That strange feeling that she felt when she saw the bodies had came back, causing her to clench the skirt of the simple black dress she was wearing. As she listened to the singer, and watching the parents say their last goodbyes; she realised it was sorrow. She’d felt sorrow before, but this was the first time she had mourned not only for these young victims but also for the lives they could’ve lived.
So, around some of the few people that she trusted, she allowed one tear to fall. Noticing the need for comfort she felt Tara reach out and grasp Hana's hand gently, to which she squeezed it in thanks. At least this time she felt sorrow; she wasn’t alone.

Chapter 5. Minor Complications
Mitsuko had been in the hospital for three more days before Dr. Cullen finally came in with the good news: she was going home.
Yet when Charlie walked through the door to collect her instead of her mom, her relief quickly turned into an uncertain sense of fear. As they walked down the hallway together, several nurses stopped what they were doing and looked at her in sympathy.
Surely nurses would look more relieved than sympathetic when a patient has been deemed healthy enough to leave? At least that's what Mitsuko thought.
It was worse when she got home. Her mom was home; her car was in the driveway, which meant she could've come to get her, but for some reason she didn't.
Charlie guided her into her house and straight into the living room, where her mother was sitting, but she wasn't alone. In the room, sitting on the opposite couch from where her mom was sitting, were two other officers. One of them had a notebook open with several lines of writing on its pages, but Mitsuko was too far away to see clearly what it said.
Her steps slowed until she halted just at the entryway of the living room; she looked around cautiously as she spoke, "What's going on?"
As she spoke, all heads moved to where she was standing; Charlie moved past her before turning back to her with a strange expression on his face, "Why don't you take a seat, kid?"
"No," she refused. "Just tell me what's going on!"
It was at this moment her mom stood and took a step towards her: "It's Hoshi."
The pit in her stomach grew. "What about Hoshi?"
"She left three days ago, said she was having a sleepover," her mom explained, choking up slightly as she spoke, "but she hasn't come home, and the girl she said she was staying with hasn't seen Hoshi since Monday last week."
The room grew silent as they awaited Mitsuko's reaction to the news, but she found herself frozen, unable to speak or even move her face. Concerned, her mom stepped forward and grabbed onto her arm, shaking her slightly to get her attention. "Miko, honey, do you understand what I told you?"
She shook herself slightly before finally responding, "Hoshi's gone missing?"
"I'm afraid so, kid," Charlie chimed in. "We've got officers canvassing the area, and we're also in touch with Seattle police in case she's ended up there."
Seattle. Of course.
At the mention of the city, Mitsuko's eyes shined with recognition. She thought back to the conversation she had those three days ago in the hospital room. Hoshi had promised she wouldn't do anything without her sister, but Mitsuko had forgotten how stubborn her little sister could be.
All she could do in that moment was slowly nod her head before speaking with a slight tremble, "I'm... going to head to my room."
She began walking away, only turning around when her mom called after her, "I just need some time to process... this."
Turning back around, she climbed the stairs and made her way into her room. Where she stayed for nearly two full days. After the second day, Angela and Jess had come to visit her, having heard the news and wanting to check on her.
Instead of seeing the usual smiling face, the two were greeted by the sight of Mitsuko staring intently at a map of Seattle she'd pulled up on her computer.
"Suki?" Angela had called in an attempt to get her attention, "Everyone's really worried about you; your mom says you haven't come out in two days."
When that didn't get a response, Jessica sighed and stomped over and yanked the computer's power cord from the wall. "Seriously, Suki, this isn't going to help anyone!"
That seemed to have gotten a reaction from Mitsuko, who twisted her head to face her friends with a dark expression.
"What do you want me to do, Jess?" Her eyes quickly filling with tears as her face crumbled. "I can't act like nothing has happened; she's gone!"
"We're not asking you to do that!" Jess argued back, "But we both know Hoshi wouldn't want you torturing yourself over trying to find her."
"I'm just so afraid she'll end up like..." She couldn't finish that sentence, but it was clear her friends understood at least to some degree. Yet they'd never understand just how much she didn't want Riley and Hoshiko to share the same fate.
"You shouldn't think like that." Jess chastised her again, "The investigation is still ongoing; for all we know, she's run off to watch one of those bands she likes so much on tour."
It was so like Jess to think that way; there was always a best-case scenario that she would remind people of. Maybe it was because she hadn't experienced much hardship, or maybe that was the only way Jess knew how to comfort her friends.
"Maybe you're right," Mitusko finally admitted, "I just can't stand the thought of her being alone and hurt somewhere."
Angela stepped forward again, pulling her friend into a tight hug. "We know, but we, as your friends, have a responsibility to make sure you're okay."
All she could do was nod before burying her face into her friend's shoulder. They stayed like that for a few minutes, with Jess eventually joining in and making it a group hug. After a while they pulled away, and Angela gently reached out to wipe away her friend's tears.
"How about we have a nice night in and watch a cheesy chick flick?" She suggested, to which Mitsuko smiled softly and nodded.
The three of them spent the night curled up on Mitsuko's bed as Legally Blonde played on the small TV in her room. When the movie had finished, it was already dark, so Angela and Jess bid their friend goodbye and left.
With her friends gone, the silence became suffocating once again, but the presence of her friends had helped heal at least a little bit of the damage in Mitsuko's heart.
She'd finally crawled out of bed to have a quick shower, groan in pleasure from finally feeling clean again. With her hair still wet, she'd then thrown her pyjamas on and shuffled back under the covers. After only a few minutes, she felt herself drifting off in a deep slumber.
Knock knock knock
Mitsuko's eyes flew open at the sound of the furious banging against her bedroom window. Disoriented, she glanced at the clock on her bedside table to see it read 3:46 am.
Thinking it was just the branches of the tree outside hitting against the glass, she simply pulled the cover over her tighter and closed her eyes. Thankfully she was tired enough that it didn't take long for her to begin drifting again.
Knock knock knock
The banging continued, but it seemed to be getting louder and more frequent. This time she sat up and reached over to flick on her bedside lamp. It took a few moments for her eyes to adjust before she could stand and slowly approach her window. It was too dark for her to see what was outside, so all she could do was unlatch it and swing it open.
The moment she did, she was almost knocked to the ground when a large body jumped in through the now open window. Before she could shout in alarm, a cold hand covered a mouth, followed by a harsh hiss.
"Shhh," The voice whispered, "It's me, Suki. It's just me."
Her eyes focused on the face in front of her, and her breath hitched in surprise. She tried to speak but was muffled under the hand on her mouth. "Hoshi?"
"If I move my hand away, you're not going to scream, are you?" Her sister asked, to which all she could do was nod.
The hand was slowly removed from her mouth as Hoshiko took a step away, keeping what she deemed a safe distance from her older sister. The distance also allowed Mitsuko to fully take in her sister's appearance.
Although she looked similar to how she did only a few days ago, she was also somehow completely unrecognisable. Yet the thing that stuck out the most, the thing that made the pit settle back in Mitsuko's stomach, was her eyes. The once dark brown, almost pitch black, was gone, replaced by a startling crimson red. Just like Riley's.
"What happened to you?" Was all she could say, breaking the silence that had fallen between them.
"I don't know..." Hoshiko muttered, even her voice was different, "It's all just like a blur; one moment I'm talking to you in the hospital, and the next I'm... burning."
She bit her lip from her nerves before speaking again, "Hoshi, your eyes are..."
"I know..." her sister spoke, "I saw them in a mirror, not long after I woke up."
The expression of absolute confusion and defeat on her sister's face made Mitsuko's heart ache once more. Without thinking, she took several rapid steps forward before pulling her little sister into her arms.
"Fuck..." She couldn't help but cry out when the rock-hard body slammed into her, "Sorry, you're like a boulder."
"Yeah, sorry about that." Her sister rested her head on her shoulder but kept her hands at her side, not trusting her newfound strength. "Turns out I'm like super strong or something now."
Mitsuko pulled back from the hug to look at her sister once more. "How did you even get back here?"
"I ran." Was all Hoshiko willing to say at the moment, "I think I have super speed too."
"Are you saying you've turned into some kind of superhero or something?"
"I think mutant might be a more accurate description." Hoshiko joked, a small smile on her face.
"Shit." The oldest said, looking down with a stressed expression, her hands going to rest on her hips.
"Yeah, I know." She sighed, running her hand through her hair. "But I think with some practice, I can learn to control it.
Instead of agreeing, Mitsuko shook her head before speaking again, "No, I mean how are we gonna tell Mom about this?"
Pause.
"Shit."

A night-out leads to unexpected but pleasurable results Chapter Title: Drunk-Dazed by Enhypen
It was just past nine at night when Hana arrived in front of the club the team had agreed to, stepping out the Uber as she double checked that she had all her things.
"You're sure they won't mind me crashing the BAU night-out?" Sasha chimed in as she also stepped out the Uber.
"Of course not, you're my roommate who's been stuck dealing with an asshole all week." Hana replied hooking arms with the blonde. "You deserve a night to let loose and forget him."
"Amen to that."
"Then let's get fucked." They both giggled as they made their way inside the club.
They showed their IDs to the bouncer at the door before making their way into the main bar area.
"Where are they?" Sasha asked as Hana stretched her head above the crowds and spotted the group at one of the booths that lined the walls.
"Found them!" She said before grabbing Sasha's hand and carefully guided her through the sea of bodies. Eventually they made it to the table. "Hey guys you look great!"
"Speak for yourself," JJ spoke up sipping the suspiciously purple cocktail in front of her. "You girls are looking hot tonight."
She was right each girl had dressed in their best outfits for a night in the city. Hana had opted for her traditional little red dress but had paired it with a pair of black leather thigh high boots and an equally black leather clutch swung over her shoulder. Her makeup consisted of her signature red lip and a dark smoky eye, she'd also chosen to keep her hair down and straight, letting it flow freely.
Sasha as always was the polar opposite, and had opted for a short baby pink corset dress and had chosen a pair of silver heels with straps that wrapped around her shins and calfs, she however hadn't brought a bag but Hana's had already offered to keep her stuff safe in the black clutch for her.
"JJ is right!" Penelope yelled clearly already intoxicated "I mean I'm unfortunately not into girls but if I was you two would be at the top of the list, like the very top."
"Thanks guys," Hana smiled brightly before winking at Penelope. "Oh and don't worry Penelope you'd be at the top of mine." Her eyes began to wander the club looking for the rest of the team.
"The boys are at the bar getting some drinks." JJ answered, peering at Hana with a twinkle in her eye. "Though you might wanna catch them so they get your orders."
Hana nodded before turning to her friend, “Sasha are you cool staying here while I get us some drinks.”
“Sure, you good getting four drinks by yourself?” Her friend asked as she slid into the booth.
“Yeah it’ll be fine I’m sure.”
With that she moved towards the bar where she spotted a mess of curly hair poking out through the crowd. Already a little buzzed from the three shots she had before going out she tapped his shoulder smiling widely as he turned to face her.
“You made it!” She shouted over the music, and she leaned in to hug him which he returned although clearly not expecting it. She was a hugger when tipsy.
“Hey! Yeah I figured I’d come since you invited me.” He explained before gently guiding her closer to the bar with his hand on her back.
“How long have you been here?”
“Long enough to finish my first drink.”
“You sure you’re okay being here I know you said you don’t really drink…” she trailed of as she leaned in close enough so he could hear her.
“Yeah don’t worry, I just don’t drink or go out very often but I can tonight.” He explained before gesturing to the bartender he was ready to order. She couldn’t hear what he ordered but he suddenly turned to her “What are you getting?”
“Oh I’m probably just gonna get a gin and tonic but I’ve also got to get Sasha two Pornstars.” She explained before seeing Spencer widen his eyes slightly, “Martinis I mean! Not the other type of… you know.”
He laughed at her panicked explanation before turning back to the bartender to finish his order and pay. Hana suddenly realised what he’d done and poked him in his side. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“Do what?” He replied feigning ignorance.
“You know what, I could have bought them myself.”
“I know.” He stated simply, Hana became aware that he hadn’t move his hand from her back. She also realised how good he look in the shirt and tie he was wearing, he’d only ditch the suit jacket from the outfit he was wearing earlier today.
The bartender placed the four drinks on the counter and Spencer casually reached out and took both his and Hana’s drinks, leaving her too easily carrying just the two for Sasha. She then followed him back through the crowd and back to the table, where the rest of the team were already back.
“Hey Guys!” She greeted, as she stepped into the booth with Spencer sliding in just after her. “I’m glad you could all make it.”
“Jack’s aunt is still watching him so I could spare a least a hour for a drink.” Hotch stated as his sipped his whiskey, he seemed to be sharing a bottle between him, Rossi and Morgan.
“Well you certainly dressed up Babushka” Morgan teased, “Planning to get lucky tonight?”
She laughed before replying, “Not really I just really like this dress but a bonus is, it helps me get free drinks.” She tried to hide how she glanced at Spencer slightly when she said, who seemed to be smirking before he lifting his drink up to sip.
“I’m just glad for a night off.” Tara chimed in to the conversation, “I just wish unsubs could do the same thing.”
“Amen to that.” Rossi lifted his glass to cheers, to which all the Team and Sasha joined in.
They continued to converse together as Hana sipped her drink through the straw, feeling her buzz getting stronger. She hadn’t even realised she’d started to lean on Spencer slightly. She continue to sip until her drink was empty, and turned towards Spencer who was blocking her exit of the booth.
“I’m gonna get another drink, do you want another?” She’d asked noticing his drink was pretty much empty.
“I’ll come with and we can order together.” He offered as he slid out from the booth before stepping back to let her out.
“Sure!” She smiled, and slid out to make her way through the crowd. Spencer made sure to keep his hand on her back to guide her through. As they approached the bartender saw them and went up to them.
“Hey you guys forgot your shots”
“Our what?” She’d asked confused.
“The martinis you ordered come with a free shot of Prosecco and since you ordered two you get two free shots.” He explained as he pour liquid into two shot glasses before placing on the bar in front of the pair. “But other than that what can I get you?”
They ordered their drinks and the bartender left to grab all the stuff to make it.
“So…” she trailed off, “You want a shot?“
He laughed at first before replying, “Well usually I’d say no but, might as well not waste a free gift.”
At that, Hana lifted both shot glasses and handed one to Spencer. “What should we toast to?”
The pair thought for a moment before, the young doctor turned towards her, grasping his glass.
“I know,” He started before lifting the glass towards her, “To a successful first case.”
She smiled and clinked her glass against his, “To a successful first case.” She tapped the bottom of her glass against the bar before she downed the glass and watched as Spencer did the same. The Prosecco wasn’t as strong as the shots vodka she’d taken before, but it still left her with a nice kick. Afterwards they made their way back to the group once again, carrying their second round of drinks.
The night continued as normal with the team exchanging stories and discussing future plans. After Hotch and Rossi left the night change from a group of friends having a few drinks, into a true night of letting loose and having fun. Truthfully, it all started when a tray of shots were delivered to the table.
“It’s from the owner,” the waiter had said as he delivered them, “She also told me to say and it quote, you need to get Sasha on the dance floor so she can meet a cute guy and forget about Paul.”
“His name is Peter.” Sasha yelled over the music slightly slurred, already on her fifth martini.
“She said you’d say so she tole me say that she doesn’t care.” With that he left the tray on the table and walk back to the bar. Leaving the table in stunned silence as they stared at the completely full tray; there was easily at least 30 shots there.
“Well I am definitely coming here again.” Garcia broke the silence, clapping her hands before grabbing two shots. Soon the whole table followed suit, each grabbing their own shots. They cheers together before downing each shot on the tray.
“I guess we gotta go dance now.” Sasha said as she jumped up grabbing Hana and Garcia’s hands to grabbed them to the dance floor, the others following close behind.
Hana doesn’t remember much from what happened in the dance floor, she remembers dancing with JJ after a guy had started getting too close to the blonde. She’d then said bye to her and Tara after she’d announce will was there to pick the two up. Once she went back to dancing she’d felt a presence behind her, Turning to find herself face to chest with Dr Spencer Reid. She looked up to look at his face and found him staring intensely at her.
“You okay?” He’d asked, moving his hand around her waist to steady her as she started swaying slightly.
“Yeah I’m okay,” she answered buzzed, “You’re eyes are really dark in this light.”
She reached her hands out to cup his cheeks and pulled him closer so she could admire her eyes up close.
“What are you doing?” He asked, his voice seemed huskier than normal.
“I don’t know.”
“Are you going to stop?”
“Maybe” She shrugged, “Do you want me to?”
“I don’t know.” His hand around her waist was gripping her tighter now, and he placed his other hand on Hana’s cheek.
Nervous, Hana bit her lower lip between her teeth but was stopped when Spencer place his thumb on her lower lip and pulled in out from between her teeth.
“You shouldn’t do that, the human teeth are strong enough to withstand 30,000 pounds, so it could definitely go through your lip.”
“Really?” She scrunched her nose as she giggled to herself, leaning close enough to feel his breath.
“Yeah” It came more like a breath, but Hana didn’t have much time to register it as she leaned into him. Placing her lips against his.
Kissing Spencer was like the rush of air you feel when resurface from under water, it felt like she was breathing for the first time. He tasted like a mix of the whiskey he’d been drinking and the sweetness of the various shorts he’d been coerced into drinking; it made her pull him closer. Hana felt as Spencer responded. He deepened the kiss by moving his hand on her cheek to her back of her neck and tightened slightly, causing her to gasp into the passionate kiss.
The gasped seemed to send a shock through the doctor’s system as he pulled away quickly from her lips. Not thinking clearly, Hana attempted to lean back towards him but was stopped as he pressed firmly into her with the hand still on her waist. He caught his breath before he could speak.
“I think we both too drunk right now and should probably call it a night.”
“You’re um…” She hesitated looking down, “You’re probably right.”
The pair finally separated so they could shepherd the rest of the group out the bar and into individual taxis or Uber’s making sure to all get home safe. Eventually, Hana and Sasha’s Uber had arrived. After helping her roommate into the car, she turned back to Spencer who was following Morgan into a separate Uber.
“I had a good night!” She yelled to him, causing him to look back over to her.
“Me too!” He called back over before stepping into the car. Hana finally stepped into her uber and as the driver started to driver home, she scream quietly into her hands.
They’d have to talk about the kiss eventually, just not now.

Spencer: I have a bad feeling about this...
Hana: What do you mean?
Spencer: Don't you ever get that little voice in your head that tells you if you're going to get into trouble?
Hana: No?
JJ: That actually explains so much.

In which Hana goes to a job interview at the FBI which is 'totally' where an ex Assassin should work. Chapter Title: Looking at Me by Sabrina Carpenter
Hana first day was as uneventful as one could be as a BAU candidate, she'd exited the lift to what she hoped was the correct floor and approached the front desk. She was clutching the strap of her small black bag tightly in her hand.
"Hey, is this the BAU?" She asked the young woman at the front who was likely around her age.
"No this is Baskin Robbins how can I help you today" she replied not looking up from her phone.
"Well can you either get me a ice cream or point me in the right direction otherwise I can go elsewhere"
She look up at her for the first time seemingly impressed someone had actually played along with her. "Not bad, we'll get along just nice. Oh and don't worry you're in the right place. Just through those doors" she pointed towards the glass doors just to the right of the main desk.
"Perfect thank you so much..."
"Gerry"
"Thank you Gerry, I'm Hana"
"Have a good day Hana" she smiled, waving her off before glancing back down to her phone.
Hana moved away from the front desk and entered through the glass a look around the large bullpen. There were at least ten main desk scattered around the room, and on the higher platform section there were seemingly three rooms. Hana presumed these were the rooms for the section chief, supervisor and of course the conference room.
As she was looking around Hana was soon approached by a tall man who was well dressed in a simple smart suit, his badge on display showed the named A. Hotchner; Unit chief.
"Can I help you?"
"Are you SSA Hotchner?"
"I am, and you are?"
"Oh okay, well I'm Hana Fedorov one of the new candidates ... I got an email saying I have a interview today"
"Of course thank you for coming, but I must let you know that we're currently on a case so it may be a long interview process."
"Not to worry sir, I'm known for my patience." Hana replied to the imposing man. Aaron was younger then she'd pictured, but was definitely someone of authority. He had a simple but smart haircut alongside a clean shaven face, and his wardrobe were all clearly a way to subconsciously make others know he was in control.
She subconsciously shook her head in order to stop herself from profiling further, she'd heard rumours in the academy about how the BAU wasn't all that fond on profiling their team mates; especially their bosses.
"So erm where should I wait?"
"Just outside are some seats, the other candidates should be there as-well" Hotchner said before pointing towards the glass entrance doors.
"Ok, thanks" she smiled brightly at the tall man before making her way out the doors he had pointed to. She immediately saw the line of candidates either sat or standing down the hallway, and as much as she'd deny it; Hana was a little intimidated. These people were older than she was by a significant amount in terms of experience both in life and on the field. In reality she had just as much experience too but she couldn't tell anyone what that experience is let alone the FBI.
Taking a deep breath as her father taught her, she stepped down the hallway and found a spare seat next to another woman. She took another deep breath, once she sat and placed her bag down in front of her legs.
"Nervous?" The woman next to her asked, causing Hana to turn towards her before answering.
"Just a little, I think I'm youngest one here..." She joked as she scanned.
"I'm just glad I'm not the oldest",at this both women turned to look at each other smiling softly, before falling into quiet laughs. "I'm Tara by the way"
"Nice to meet you, I'm Hana"
"Hmm both double a, sounds like fate"
"Maybe I'm not a huge believer in that"
"Well either way, I should get your number in case we never see each other after this. You seem a lot of fun"
"I'd like that", It was shame the BAU was one looking for one spot, it would've been nice for Hana and Tara to be teammates.
At that moment, Agent Hotchner came back out from the bullpen and approached the group again. "Can I have everyone's attention, please."
Everyone, including Hana and Tara, promptly turned their full attention towards the imposing figure stood by the glass doors.
"The BAU is working an active case, so this interview process may take some time." He explained before continuing, "Does anyone need to return to their field office?"
After that majority of the group either shook their head or verbally responded no. Pleased with this response Hotchner turned towards Tara, "Good. Dr. Lewis, we'll start with you."
At this Tara quickly stood before she responded a simple "Absolutely." and moved to follow him through the glass doors, but not before turning back to Hana and waving bye.
After Tara left spent the next thirty minutes in the same seat reading through her past few messages on her phone. Most were from either her phone provider or random promotional offers that she opted to ignore. The one that she focused on was a message from a unknown number, likely from a burner phone. It simply read 'Been missing the Black Lion, are you ever coming back to play?' and Hana knew exactly who it had come from.
She had no intention of returning to her past she hadn't done a job since she was 17 and that was almost 8 years ago. After she'd been brought in and given a second chance, how could she throw it all away for people she hadn't seen in years. Also, those were the worst fucking years of her life. So fuck that.
With a sigh, Hana made the decision to quickly block the number and close her messages. Opting instead to play one of the random games she had on her phone, it wasn't very productive but it would at least pass the time and relax her.
Eventually she saw Tara come back through and make her way back over. "Hey!"
"Hey, how it go?"
"I think it went well. He said I had a good amount of experience"
Fuck.
"Oh really? That's sounds good"
There's no way Hana was getting this job.
"Yeah but who knows I was the first one interviewed anything can happen." She smiled softly at Hana. It was clear she was doing this to make her feel better but Hana knew that Tara was incredibly happy with how her interview went.
"Agent Fedorov" She quickly moved her head towards Hotchner at the end of the hall who had called her name. "You're next, if you'd just follow me"
"Okay... sure" Hana stood to follow him making sure she didn't leave anything behind. As she walked through the bullpen she noticed it was full of activity with people moving between the desks and speaking rapidly to each other. Whatever case the BAU were on was high profile that much was clear.
When Hotchner approached the door to his office he held the door open for her. As she stepped in first she couldn't help but analyse the room and in turn the man was interviewing her. The office was incredibly well kept and clearly belonged to someone in control, but there was also a single frame on the desk that although facing away from her, was clearly some form of family photo so he wasn't a complete robot.
"You can take a seat" He began as he took his own seat behind the desk. Once Hana a took one of the chairs opposite he continued, "I must say first of all you're not like the other candidates we have lined up"
"Young?"
"Yes but also, your past history is curious" He flipped open a file that was on his desk. "It seems there's no record of you before age 17. Why is that?"
Hana wondered if this how suspects felt in the interrogation room. "I was living in Russia for the first 16 years of my life, I was taken to the US after escaping a pretty bad situation."
"Do you have any records of your time Russia?"
"My father was off the grid, he hated the government so he refused to be on record" She let out a sigh before continuing, "It also meant he didn't want me on record. I mean I was homeschooled for most of my life"
"Well considering I must say I'm impressed by what you've achieved since." He flipped to another page as he continued, "You graduated at the top of your class at the academy and is currently one of our youngest agents active in the field"
"I was told to aim for greatness"
"Well with these credentials you could go on to do great things, so why join the BAU?"
Hana clenched her fists tightly as she thought of an answer, "I've seen a lot of bad things happen so I'm not ignorant to the type of people you guys deal with, and I wanna help be the reason those types are put away for good"
"You think you have what it takes? This job can be hard for most, let alone someone fresh from the academy"
"I know I do." She steeled her face making sure to show how serious she was, she could see that he was watching her carefully trying form some type of profile.
Yet before he could continue someone knocks on the door before entering. "We're ready to deliver the profile"
"Thanks, We'll be right there Rossi" Agent Rossi nodded before heading back out into the bullpen. "I want you to hear the profile too, all the candidates actually"
"Okay" Hana stood and followed Hotchner out into the main bullpen where she could all the other candidates crowded round the BAU as they stood waiting for the pair to join them. After spotting Tara in the crowd, Hana quickly made her way over and stood next to her. As she found her place Agent Morgan began the briefing
"The unsub that we're looking for is a contract killer who is doubling back to kill his former customers."
Fuck.
"This man is highly skilled and well-trained." continued Morgan "Under no circumstances should he be engaged without back-up."
"So is this a case of organised crime tying up loose ends?" Tara questioned bringing Hana's attention back to the room instead of the ringing in her ear.
"Organised crime's got nothing to do with this,
At least not in the traditional sense. " Agent Rossi answered before Dr Reid continued.
"In 2013, the bureau took down the silk road network " Hana had heard of this, the dark web was almost unusable during those months. Most people like her had to kick it old school. "Our initial assumption was that it was an encrypted online market for illegal drugs, which it was, but upon further inspection, we were stunned at the breadth of goods and services being traded online. Weapons, child porn, even hit men."
Hotchner then chimed in, "And the payment scheme was escrow based, in which the buyer would put down half as a deposit and the other half when the seller delivered."
By this point Hana was going through head of all her previous 'acquaintances', immediately striking off anyone she knew was either dead or incarcerated.
"We've now confirmed that all 3 victims hired the unsub over the past year through a similar escrow system."
"So why is he killing his old clients?"
"Hit men don't leave a message unless you pay them to." Rossi answered quickly, "The exception is to leave a warning for customers or competitors."
"This unsub suffered some sort of injury to his jaw or voice, most likely as a result of something these customers did. The pulcinella mask is his statement on revenge and justice" Dr Reid continued once again, Hana was impressed with how rapid fire and precise these guys were giving this profile.
"Betray the oath between customer and contractor and you pay the price. Now, normally a man with this kind of defect would attract attention." Reid continued to explain "The fact that he hasn't indicates that he has deep pockets and a network of resources at his disposal."
"Share this profile with your local divisions and with law enforcement." Hotch ended the briefing speaking directly to everyone in the room. "Search for escrow payments to match the unsub to his clients. One of those clients will be his next target."
At that everyone dispersed in various directions, while Hana followed quickly behind Hotchner as he made his way back to his office.
