I know it’s because he’s the fandom darling and because a lot of people relate to Grian’s character either as portrayed in canon or in fanon, but I think we as a fandom need to get better at acknowledging that Grian fundamentally a little bit uncool

Not only because it would be good for all of us who relate to some part of his character to embrace uncoolness but also because he is a bit uncool in canon.

He laughs too loud and is a little too stubborn and he doesn’t really care about fashion these days. He uses strange, made-up sayings and stares too much and sometimes he goes into people’s homes just to ask what they’re doing. And to top it all off he’s a little bit self conscious about it all so he isn’t even owning it.

He’s odd weird and not always in the endearing way and that’s part of his charm. His friends all know he’s got his oddities and they love that as part of who he is. Stripping him of his uncoolness does a disservice to his character and the relationship he has with every other character on the smp

The drawing originally stemmed from the idea that Grian would sometimes act/prank Scar as some sleep paralysis demon in the middle of the night in his watcher form! But only for a reason (unless he was feeling really mischievous that day). The first it happened—it happened because Scar kept hogging the bed, and Grian ended up falling off (which as you can tell, he was very upset about that).

Then it became a regular occurrence (but not incredibly regular) and Scar started to slowly get used to it
