When I was 13 years old and curious about sex and love, I asked my mom if she had had sex before marrying my father (of whom she is still married to, and has been since before I was born). She said that that wasn’t really a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question. I said ‘sure it is, you’ve either had sex before him, or you haven’t’. She brought me onto the couch and sat me down and told me about the boy she liked when she was young and how one night she snuck into his house while his parents were gone and they were kissing and he said they should have sex and she said that she wanted to save sex for marriage and he laughed and basically took all her clothes off and he raped her and as my mom was telling the story she cried and this was the second time I had ever seen my mom cry. She was 12 when it happened.

In grade 8 I got a call from my friend in the middle of the night and she was drunk in the park crying and told me that she went out that night with some other friends and they drank a little and her guy “friend” starting flirting and yes she laughed at first but then he tried to pull her shirt over her head and she pulled away and he ripped her shirt and it was her favourite shirt and then he pushed her to her knees and HIS BEST FRIEND HELD HER JAW OPEN WHILE HE FACE FUCKED HER. And so I went to the park and picked her up and took her home and slept in her bed with her except we didn’t sleep because she just cried and her mouth bled and this was four years ago but I still have to be the one to bring her items to the till it the cashier is a man, and she still has anxiety attacks and she’ll get a rash all over her body and I just want to kill those boys but instead they are still walking around. And I’m in the bathroom with her, dabbing at her skin with a warm cloth until it returns to its regular colour.

And in grade 9 one of my closest friends was kinda seeing this boy and so they hung out one night and then she said that she really had to be getting back home and he said that she wasn’t going anywhere until she gave him what he wanted and he parked the car and took off her clothes and she said no and he ignored her and so she laid in the backseat totally limp and just cried and it wasn’t even sex, he just masterbated by using her body instead of his hand and she came to school the next day with vodka in her water bottle and she drank all day and I had to fight her to get the alcohol away from her and she just cried and threw up and I skipped class while I held her hair back and that same boy texted me a month later, asking if I ever wanted to hangout sometime.

And in that same year my very best friend who has never even kissed a boy, confessed to me that when she was 9 years old, her 12 year old cousin made her give him a hand job and he told her that was what cousins do and he gave her a chocolate bar afterwards and she told me that he probably doesn’t even remember it but that it’s something that she’ll never have the luxury of forgetting.

And in grade 10 I knew a girl who invited her best friend over to watch Disney movies and then he started to put his hands down her pants and she said no but she is 130lbs and he is 220lbs and he called her a tease while she tried to fight him but he used one hand to hold her down, and the other to put inside of her and i was the one to push her inside of a classroom and stand in front of her while calling the police when he showed up at our school looking for her and she was so damn scared.

And a few months later I skipped class and was in the car with a guy who i had had unprotected sex with in the past while under the influence of cocaine but this time I was sober and I insisted we use a condom but he told me he couldn’t feel anything while the condom was on so he ripped it off and I said I refused to have unprotected sex again and so he just grabbed me and forced himself into my mouth and I was crying and he pulled me onto him and I just came saying “stop” over and over like a broken record but he must’ve heard something different because he went until he came and I just sat naked in the backseat while he drove me back to the school and said “we should do this again sometime”. And I had five showers that night and I scratched at my skin so hard to try and rip his fingerprints off of me, I still have the scars.

And I found out soon afterwards that that same guy had raped a classmate of mine, 5 months earlier and she told me about how he brought her McDonald’s first, and how he said they could take things slow and she told me about how he didn’t listen to her either. And he goes to our school and so after she told me about her incident and I told her about mine, we decided to report it to the police and the trial is currently still going on and he told people about it, except in his version we are just “asking for attention” and all his friends talk about how bad they feel for him. As if HE is the one that still wakes up screaming. As if HE felt like his skin no longer was beautiful, no longer belonged to him. And I held her in my arms as she bawled after giving the police her statement. And she did the same for me.

And I met a woman a year ago in a paint store and she had a service dog and I asked what the dog was for and it turns out that she had been so brutally raped and abused in her life, that the dog is literally trained to keep men away from her.

And I’m so FUCKING SICK AND TIRED OF THIS WORLD WE ARE LIVING IN. How many rape victims eyes have I already looked into? How many more will I? And how many more friends will I hold while they shake? Because I don’t know how many more I can take. And who the fuck still has the nerve to make rape jokes? And… Something just has to change. Please, someone just start being that change.

BREAKING: Another Black Woman Dies While In Police Custody, The Third Black Woman To Die Under Questionable Circumstances in Less Than Two Weeks

Ralkina Jones is the third African-American woman to die under questionable circumstances while in police custody in less than two weeks.

An Ohio woman died while in police custody in the Cleveland Heights jail early on Sunday morning. Ralkina Jones, 37, was picked up after a domestic dispute in a parking lot with her ex-husband on Friday night.

According to the incident report, Jones drove to a local business and smashed the driver’s side window a Ford Expedition belonging to her ex-husband, Brandon Jones. She also attempted to smash the windshield of the vehicle. Police say that when her ex-husband came outside to the parking lot to try to stop her, Jones scratched his face and hit him with a tire iron, causing a 2- to 3-inch cut. Family members toldlocal media that the incident occurred at her ex-husband’s place of work.

After her ex-husband got the tire iron away from Jones and walked away from the fight with a friend, Jones got back in her car and tried to run over the two men. Jones’s 12-year-old daughter, Kayla, was in the backseat of her car during the incident.

An independent witness at the scene corroborated Brandon Jones’s version of the dispute. However, according to the incident report, Jones told police that he didn’t want to press charges against his ex-wife.

Ralkina Jones was arrested and charged with felonious assault, domestic violence, and child endangerment. She was then taken to Cleveland Heights jail.

According to a press release issued by the Cleveland Heights police on Monday, Jones was placed in a cell at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Friday night. She had blood on her but no serious injuries, according to police.

At around 7:15 p.m. the next day, Jones appeared “lethargic” in her cell and was transported to the Cleveland hospital, HealthSpan. Four hours later, she was transported back to the jail.

After this the police information starts to become unclear. According to the police, a little over an hour after she arrived back at the jail, the paramedics were called a second time for Jones for an unspecified reason. The police say the paramedics “determined her vitals to be normal” at that time and Jones was thereafter given routine checks throughout the night.

Jones died some time early Sunday morning. The police did not say how many times she was checked during the night or what time she died.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner completed Jones’s autopsy on Monday and it revealed no suspicious injuries. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined.

BuzzFeed News reached out to Cleveland Heights Police Chief Jeffrey Robertson to ask why Jones was held for over a day after her ex-husband declined to press charges, why the paramedics were called a second time for Jones, why she was not taken to the hospital, how many times she was checked during the night, and what time she died, but he has not yet responded.

Jones’s is the third high-profile death of an African-American woman while in police custody in two weeks. On July 13, 28-year-old Sandra Bland died while in custody in Texas, and then one day later 18-year-old Kindra Chapman died in Alabama. Both women allegedly hanged themselves in their cells, and their deaths have been ruled suicides by officials.

i think the Steven Universe wiki got hacked or something. someone did something to it. now, whenever you try to go on any if its page, it will redirect to a page called “IT’S ME” that features a very loud sound and a huge close-up of “Golden Freddy” from FNAF.

so yeah, don’t go on the Steven Universe Wiki right now. i checked several other wikis and it appears that someone went out of their way to vandalize the SU wiki, as none of the other wikis i visited had this issue. i also believe that this “jump scare” effects EVERY PAGE ON THE WIKI. so unless you’re feelin’ brave, be careful and i would recommend not browsing it right now. i don’t know if anyone is even aware of this yet.

400+ Animals Found Dead, State Pulls Shelter Licenses

The NC Department of Agriculture has pulled the animal shelter licenses in Davidson and Guilford Co after finding what it calls a "Systemic failure to care for animals.

2 county shelters around my area have had their licenses revoked due to a “Systemic failure to care for animals.” In one, over 400 animals have been found dead this year. More than 90 in two different months, and over 30 animals have been found dead so far in August. As an animal lover and zoology major dedicating my life to help animals in need, this tears me apart. To have this happen just over an hour from me is sickening.

What’s more distressing than all of the animals that have already died is that the future of the survivors is up in the air. The shelters will remain open while its decided what to do, but no one is sure. All of the rescues are full and pulled thin as it is. I hope that they will be able to pull some, but there are just so many that need help.

So, please share this link and get the word out! If this goes viral, then the spotlight will make them more accountable for the future of these poor animals.

UPDATE:

I’ve found the letters revoking licenses. They describe horrific and sickening conditions. In Guilford, animals with severe and extremely painful injuries like ruptured eyeballs, twisted spines, broken pelvises, and gunshot wounds were not given any veterinary treatment or pain medication. For DAYS, until they were euthanized. Some animals suffered without treatment for 11 or 12 days. In Davidson, a massively lethal and contagious disease swept through the shelter, especially among the cats. No vet was called or consulted with to try to fix this. In a span of 12 days in August, 38 animals were found dead.

Local rescues are actively trying to pull animals from these places, but there are so many animals that the communities cannot help them alone.

The ugly American secret has been exposed. All across the country, women and men are dying in police custody and have been by the thousands every year.

Four days before Sandra Bland was arrested in Waller County, Texas, a 24-year-old American Indian woman of the Lakota tribe, Sarah Lee Circle Bear of Clairmont, South Dakota, was arrested on a simple bond violation.

Witnesses stated that before being transferred to a holding cell, Circle Bear pleaded to jailers that she was in excruciating pain. Jail staff responded by dismissing her cries for help, telling her to “knock it off,” and “quit faking.” Inmates cried out for the jail staff to help Circle Bear, to which they eventually responded by picking her up off of the floor, dragging her out of the cell, and transferring her to a holding cell. Circle Bear was later found unresponsive in the holding cell.

This is completely despicable. It’s worse than that—the actions (or inaction) of the jail directly caused Sarah’s death. The American justice system is full of so many egregious human rights violations that it truly needs to be shut down and rebooted from scratch.

Sarah was a mother of two babies. The entire trajectory and quality of their lives will be forever changed by this. Ralkina Jones, another beloved mother of young children, died in police custody in Cleveland under very similar circumstances.

What we now know is that American Indians, relative to their size of the population, actually make up three of the five most likely demographics to be killed by police in America. In other words, while many of us think of the deep injustices faced by our indigenous sisters and brothers as historic, they are actually very present and current.

As we have done for Sandra Bland, we must now demand answers and evidence in the death of Sarah Lee Circle Bear.
