chemicalsinpants:
2 county shelters around my area have had their licenses revoked due to a “Systemic failure to care for animals.” In one, over 400 animals have been found dead this year. More than 90 in two different months, and over 30 animals have been found dead so far in August. As an animal lover and zoology major dedicating my life to help animals in need, this tears me apart. To have this happen just over an hour from me is sickening.
What’s more distressing than all of the animals that have already died is that the future of the survivors is up in the air. The shelters will remain open while its decided what to do, but no one is sure. All of the rescues are full and pulled thin as it is. I hope that they will be able to pull some, but there are just so many that need help.
So, please share this link and get the word out! If this goes viral, then the spotlight will make them more accountable for the future of these poor animals.
I’ve found the letters revoking licenses. They describe horrific and sickening conditions. In Guilford, animals with severe and extremely painful injuries like ruptured eyeballs, twisted spines, broken pelvises, and gunshot wounds were not given any veterinary treatment or pain medication. For DAYS, until they were euthanized. Some animals suffered without treatment for 11 or 12 days. In Davidson, a massively lethal and contagious disease swept through the shelter, especially among the cats. No vet was called or consulted with to try to fix this. In a span of 12 days in August, 38 animals were found dead.
Local rescues are actively trying to pull animals from these places, but there are so many animals that the communities cannot help them alone.
PLEASE signal boost this so that people know that these atrocious conditions will not be ignored!

I’m goin to reblog this periodically because everyone deserves to know about the extension
How do you feel about the tumblr update?
I dislike it a lot
WHICH IS WHY I HAVE THE EXTENSION THAT REVERTS IT BACK TO OLD TUMBLR
HERE’S THE LINK
Look! My dash is back to normal
The instructions are really clear and the whole thing takes about 30 seconds to do. I highly highly recommend.
Guys there’s a HUGE compilation of Pokemon Shaming illustrations being circulated on here and it has over 10 THOUSAND notes despite NONE of the images being sourced.
I follow the artist of one of them who doesn’t approve of their art being reposted so it’s safe to assume the OP didn’t ask permission from ANY of the artists. With all of the posts about art theft going around you all should know far better than to reblog blatantly reposted art so please stop reblogging that one post. It has more notes than half the images probably have by themselves so it’s incredibly disrespectful to keep circulating it despite that.
please do not buy anything with sea horses in them, they are going extinct because of the craft, food, and medicine trade.
if sea horses mean a lot to you and in your craft, please look at alternatives to celebrate them. paint a picture, crochet one, do what i did and get a tattoo of one!
or:
If you love sea horses, then maybe you’d like to adopt one through a sea horse charity!
Or you can get a few prizes for adopting a seahorse and paying a little more!
You could even make it apart of your craft as a dedication to the ocean to make a single or monthly donation to one r two of these ocean/sea horse charities,
Project Seahorse
The seahorse trust
The Minnesota aquarium
seahorse hawaii

Tumblr, we need your help.
This evening as we were arriving at our hotel on the North Carolina coast, we heard a cry in the parking lot. We thought it might be a cat, so we called for it. The cry persisted. Out of the darkness ran a little orange kitten.
The kitten was desperate. He cried and cried, until we picked him up, put him in our car, and drove around looking for a place to buy cat food after midnight. We found some at a gas station, along with cat litter, and then we smuggled him up into our hotel room. We have since bathed him several times to combat the flea infestation from which he was suffering.
Throughout these multiple baths, he has not stopped purring once. He follows us everywhere. He wants to be cradled and cuddled constantly, he is especially fond of toes and kisses.
On top of everything, it seems as though his whiskers have been cut. We don’t know everything this little guy has been through, but he’s clearly had a hard life so far and he deserves so much better. As you all know if you’ve been following me, we already have multiple cats and probably shouldn’t add another to our household. However, surely someone out there can give this guy a home.
We found him in Morehead City, NC, and will be traveling back up to Chapel Hill. NC on Sunday. Is there anyone who is interested in this little guy and can meet us to give him a good home? Please send me or Ash a message if you’re interested.
Please reblog even if you can’t offer him a home. Maybe someone you know can!
