Pandora (carrying a baby for Evan and Barty) going into labour and James and Reg taking her to the hospital.

Nurse (looking between James and Regulus): ok and which one of you is the father?

Pandora: oh neither of them is the father, the father is my brother.

*nurse frowns and walks away*

Regulus: I am so going to miss watching you freak people out like that!

Percy: Nico is at that very special age where a kid only has one thing on their mind.

Jason: Boys?

You know what, I'm not interested in whatever trauma and abuse Sirius Black got from going against his family.

I'm interested in what trauma he is responsible for in the others.

You can't just act out in a family like that and be the only one in trouble. What about his brother? His cousins? How much did his actions hurt them?

I can imagine Bellatrix in her teens, charged with keeping her sisters and cousins under control, as the eldest daughter that's her job. Sirius, refusing to co-operate. Sirius, in his mind being the hero, rebelling and pushing and misbehaving to spite this family. He gets punished for it, of course, he's embarrassed the family, after all. But Bellatrix is also punished even more. Because she was responsible for him, she should have stopped him, what use is she?

Or he messes around in Hogwarts. Gets letters sent home about his behaviour. And yes, he receives Howlers about his behaviour. But what he doesn't realise, as he wallows in his wounds, is that across the hall at the Slytherin table, Regulus is also suffering from a Howler because he should have sorted his brother out, he should have stopped him, been a good influence. No praise for being the top of his class, nope, just reproaches for not preventing his brother from messing around.

And then after Sirius ran away?

They couldn't punish Sirius for that.

His parents aren't going to blame themselves for it.

No, it's Regulus's fault for not stopping him or telling them. It's Bellatrix's fault. It's Andromeda's fault. It's Narcissa's fault.

Sirius believed himself to be good and noble, rebelling against his family's evil ways. He's convinced they hate him because of him being on the side of good. But they don't care what side he's on. All they care about is the fact that they were punished repeatedly for what he did. And that's why they hate him. What good is his "noble" heart, if it got them in trouble? When he saw Bellatrix after she'd been punished and scoffed and said she deserved it for being a stuck up blood purist? When he saw Regulus with red eyes after his achievements were pushed aside to focus on Sirius's bad behaviour and all Sirius said was that Regulus was a coward and a baby?

James and Remus coming home from work opening the door and finding Sirius and Regulus rolling around on the floor, yelling at each other in french with a trail of absolute chaos behind them. James and Remus just glance at each other and sigh, then turn right back around and shut the door behind them.

What if reg was an animagi and he could turn into a duck.

Imagine walking down the hogwarts corridor and you see james and sirius being chased by a duck with a wand in its mouth.

And they were roommates :)

Trust them to be the only ones not knowing they're dating yet. Regulus, Dorcas and Pandora be watching on the side, betting on whether they're gonna figure out their feelings before the end of their school years or not.

Honestly, at that point, even the Gryffindors have joined the bet. Months ago. Lost. And then have the time to bet again. Remus is betting they're gonna get married before finding out they're in love.

James had spent summers at the Potter house, in the raucous warmth of his parents’ love, in a place where laughter carried through the walls and arguments ended in ruffled hair and biscuits shoved into hands. This summer, though, he was spending it at the Black household.

It was Sirius’ idea, because of course it was. Sirius had announced it over breakfast, a reckless glint in his eye, as if daring his mother to object. She had only hummed, seemingly uninterested, which made Sirius all the more suspicious. But when James arrived, he understood why she had allowed it.

She wanted an audience.

“Your sister has no manners, as always,” Walburga commented idly from her place at the head of the dining table, watching as Regulus—her son, her son—sat across from James, stabbing at his food with a fork gripped too tightly.

James felt his stomach turn. His gaze flicked to Sirius, who was gripping his knife as if debating throwing it across the table. Regulus didn’t even flinch. He was used to it, James realized, which made the whole thing worse.

“Regulus,” James said loudly, pointedly, as if to correct Walburga without outright challenging her. “Do you want to come flying with me later?”

Regulus lifted his gaze, something like appreciation flickering in his eyes before it was snuffed out by exhaustion. “Maybe,” he murmured, voice clipped, but James knew him well enough by now to recognize that it wasn’t directed at him.

Walburga didn’t even acknowledge the interaction. She continued as though James hadn’t spoken, turning instead to Sirius. “And you allow her to behave this way, indulging these childish delusions.”

James felt his grip tighten around his fork, but Sirius was faster, standing so abruptly his chair scraped against the floor with a violent screech. “He,” Sirius snarled, leaning over the table, eyes flashing dangerously. “You will address him properly, or you won’t address him at all.”

Regulus, still seated, closed his eyes briefly. He looked so tired. James wanted to reach for his hand, but he knew better than to make it worse by drawing more attention to him.

Walburga merely scoffed, dabbing at her lips with a napkin as if bored. “You always were so dramatic,” she mused. “No wonder you embarrass me.”

James stood then, matching Sirius’ stance, and while he didn’t glare like Sirius did, his voice was firm when he said, “Regulus is brilliant. If anyone should be embarrassed, Mrs. Black, it’s you.”

The air grew tense. For a moment, James swore Walburga would strike him down on the spot, but instead, she exhaled, as if disappointed, before rising from her seat.

“I expected nothing less from a Potter,” she murmured before sweeping out of the room. The silence she left behind felt suffocating.

Sirius collapsed back into his chair with a long sigh, dragging his hands down his face. “Well, that was fun.”

Regulus exhaled sharply, not quite a laugh but something close. When he finally met James’ gaze again, there was a quiet sort of gratitude in his eyes, even as he muttered, “You didn’t have to do that.”

James shrugged. “Yeah, I did.”

Sirius: Next person to say “weird flex but okay” is getting thrown of the astronomy tower.

Regulus: Preposterous boast but alas.
