The first ever otome game-themed Steam festival, Otome Games Celebration, is now live on Steam!

What are otome games? They're romance-driven games where the player can play as a woman and pursue romantic relationships, with a focus on men as love interests. Our festival showcases the wide world of otome, with some of the games featuring customizable main characters, love interests with a variety of genders, and more.

Over 100+ otome games agreed to take part in the event from 80+ developers, with titles from BUSTAFELLOWS to A Date with Death to Royal Alchemist and more. The event will go for a full week, May 19-26. We have otome on sale, free otome, upcoming otome demos, and more!

One of the pain points of finding visual novels & otome on Steam is the lackluster categorization that doesn't allow for finding the specific story genres you want to find. To try to counter that, I've created lots of widgets separated by story genres, such as a fantasy category, cute & comfy, and more. not all ships are For wanting them to be in a happy healthy relationship together. sometimes shipping two characters means you want them to be erotically obsessed with each other and become entwined in a mutually toxic love affair for a few months and then horrifically break each other's hearts and never speak again. sometimes you want them to be codependent best friends with enough repression to explode a submarine who only make out/have sex when they're at their worst. sometimes you want them to pine after each other for years, never say anything, and then die. sometimes you want them to kill each other. this, too, is shipping

tmgs is responsible for me thinking too hard about "wouldn't it be fun to make a game where you experience what it's like to be a video game character as another character is the protagonist trying to date you" but it's entirely because i assumed the love interests would give you their phone numbers at high enough affection so i just worked on my stats until one guy started asking my heroine out and i realized he was the protagonist to my heroine's love interest

lol that's really funny, but a totally reasonable assumption? like, it's way more normal (though significantly less fun) to get a phone number from the actual person than like, your weird little brother who stalks high school guys as a hobby or something lol.

but it's a really cute little info mechanic and i kinda love it just because it's funny~

which is on my to-play list, but it's a genre twist where the mc doesn't want to date, so it's one of those "not quite dating sim" twist games.

personally, i like seeing variety in characters and in different games, so having a game where you're the one pursued sounds like a neat change of pace! (it kinda also reminds me of Hamefura lol since Kata is so unaware and all the active flirting is done by the harem 😭~ now that i think about it, that's kind of a trope i adore. loving harem pursues oblivious or uninterested girl lol)

i also love genre subversions and unique twists (especially when they're made by someone who truly loves the genre), so your idea sounds super cool!! that would be such a cute story!!! i'd love to hear more about it or play the game if you make it someday!
