Do you feel me?
Do you see me?
I know you see me
But can you feel me?
What do you see?
What do you feel?
Does it match what I see?
What I feel?
Can you see what I feel?
Do I exude?
Do I absorb?
Do I reflect?
what if ..
Can you feel me?
New acquisition for The Free Black Women’s Library 🖤 ⭐️ a book I’ve been wanting to read for a long minute, THE GAMES THAT BLACK GIRLS PLAY - Learning the ropes from Double Dutch to Hip Hop by Kyra Gaunt. As someone who is deeply invested in Black girl culture and Black girl creativity, I’ve been very curious about this book by brilliant writer, professor and ethnomusicologist Kyra Gaunt since I first heard of it years ago. When we think of Black popular music, our first thought is probably not of double Dutch; girls bouncing between two twirling ropes, keeping time to the tick tat under their toes. But this book argues that the games Black girls play – hand clapping songs, cheers, and double Dutch jump rope both reflect and iinspire the principles of Black popular music making. This book illustrates how our musical styles are incorporated into the earliest games girls learn and how in a fact these games contain the DNA of Black music. In this celebration of playground poetry and childhood choreography, through interviews, recordings, personal memories and anecdotes Kyra uncovers the rich contributions of girls play to Black popular culture.
My Dream House hasn’t been much of a dream I haven’t had the chance to settle
My room flooded So I’m sleeping in the spare The chill room The room of requirement
At this point it’s my temporary bedroom I’ve been hesitant to settle into the chill room I felt like that was accepting my situation And I refused to accept it Today I yelled at my landlord for doing exactly as I asked I heard the first sign of problem and leapt It was not good So this is wild
I saw a counselor after Well scheduled an appointment For an interview Then we can set a session But I went I know it’s gonna be hard But I wanna be honest with myself I wanna talk to someone who’s paid to listen Someone who won’t judge But just wants to help
The floors in my room are gone I layed down a green rugged blanket in the chill room It makes it look like I have a grass carpet
I brought my tv in To drown out the ticking clock I turned on sims But I’m so uncomfortable sleeping on air But I covered it in 3 blankets I’m comfortable Mostly I’m trying to be

I’m starting to find myself thinking about what I’m suppose to do versus what I want to do.
If the spirit says move then I move
And sometimes I stop and think ... wait
Why did I do that let me go back
But now I’m coming to a point where I don’t question it
I just go
I may think upon what just happened
But no longer am I trying to make myself comfortable
Change is uncomfortable
Change is different
But if you wanted to be comfortable you didn’t want to change
If you wanted to different then you don’t want to be comfortable
Comfort will come in the end
As your reward for the success for all your hard work
But the end is not now
The end is near
So we gotta get all the work in that was assigned before dad comes home
I was suppose to take the chicken out the freezer 2 hours ago and now he’s down the street
Don’t wait.
Do what’s asked when it’s asked
Your only wasting time
Be obedient
And see the fruits you bare
Not too long ago I wrote a ramble about galaxies
I think In a different world I did major in astrophysics
In a different world my surface curiosity was a deep seeded passion
I searched the galaxies for answered to the future and found them
Im my life as Nova Rose Greene
I discovered 12 moons floating in our new galaxy
I found 1 planet
And I named it Waytoz
not for anything specific
But because it sounded good
I also discovered many many black holes
It’s my specialty
I’m the black space lady
I’m the one who made it possible for us to touch stars
I’m the one who paved the way for humans to exist beyond our current ways
I Allowed us to observe parts of the universe we knew nothing about
I pointed us in the right direction
And In another life
It makes the difference
In another life many many young women take to the stars
Many young women travel beyond their blocks, their states, their countries, their worlds
Many young people dream of infinite possibilities
And space gave them the opportunity to discover Beyond the infinite
