so we start with light yagami. top of his school, great family, tons of friends right? well, it definitely looks that way. but if you look more in depth you start to see the cracks in his “perfect boy” persona. he goes to class, studies, and goes to cram school. we really don’t see him with any genuine friends and anyone he seems nice to he actually kinda hates in his inner monologue. the only time we see him hang out with people outside of school is during the bus jacking date and that one time he tried to find misa. it’s most likely intentional since he doesn’t think anyones as smart as him. he’s close with his family, but even then he’s playing the role as the golden child.for example, we are introduced to his mom via her asking him for his test scores, making small conversation, and then leaving him alone. she’s glad his scores are so high and compliments him, but doesn’t even ask about his day or anything. his dad works weird, late hours as a cop as well. he’s close to sayu, but pushes her away as the story goes on.
also, light is incredibly immature at the start of the story (and doesn’t really mature mainly because of the death note. as we all know, he developed a severe god complex and stop maturing mentally since he saw himself as this all powerful perfect diety who didn’t need to change his ideals and how he saw the world). in all fairness, he is around 16-17 when he received the death note. i think his beliefs are better summed up in Where Is The Justice than i could write. i fully believe that had he not received the death note he would have become a very respectable detective, but that is not his story.
to summarize, light is lonely, immature, and think he’s the smartest guy in the world.
until he meets L.
L Lawliet is a weird character. he doesn’t really trust anyone, is off putting to most people, and more importantly, knew light was kira even when evidence pointed otherwise.
it is a fucking delight to rewatch death note just to see L make light squirm. you realize all his weird tendencies were intentional. Light can’t take anything he says at word because L is always two steps ahead of him. i think it’s best shown in the phone scene, where light thinks he can get L’s true name (side note: i love how L’s real name is literally just L Lawliet. that’s so clever, he doesn’t have to worry about kira finding his true name, since he already knows it, kira just needs his last name but doesn’t think of asking because why would someone just be named L? it’s genius) and calls misa, then L reveals he has miss’s phone and fucking talks to light on it. then lights like “ok whatever he didn’t know misa has another.” AND L HAS THE SECOND PHONE TOO! he’s just an absolute genius.
additionally though, L is also very lonely. he doesn’t really have any friends and his only family is fucking watari, who i am sure kept him away from the other kids in the wammy house as a child so he could focus on detective work. he’s incredibly smart but he’s reached that level where nothing really satisfies his curiosity, which is why he takes on the kira case.
somehow along the way, kira and L become light and L, who are actually friends. they understand each other in a way no one has before. the yotsuba arc shows just how well they get along, even if they annoy each other. they aren’t lonely anymore. they have someone who understands thems.
once l dies, however, it’s clear just how much their relationship meant to light. even before they really became friends, their rivalry was amazing. L was the one thing keeping light in check and with him gone light goes completely off the rails. light does some things in the second half of the series (trusting people with the information that he is kira, falling for nears traps, killing takada, and letting mikami use the death note) that he wouldn’t have even considered in the beginning because of how risky it was.
and at the end of it all, it’s not misa or his father or ryuk he sees as he dies. it’s L.

The VS. game works like this: I say two names, like “Julian vs. Jace” and the next one picks who they prefer and makes a new vs. You can make it whatever you like: books, characters, places, couples… whatever!:) I’ll start: Julian vs. Jace
“Racism, stereotypes, sexism, homophobia. All these problems are still going to be there, but what’s cool about having three million followers on Twitter is that you have the power to tell people that there are problems in the world and how to help. Go on a march, sign petitions. Having that power is really cool. I’m not really sure that I’m a role model yet, because I’m not exactly old. But it’s cool to have kids looking up to you.”

'The Song of Achilles' by Madeline Miller is an absolute beauty of a book. If any of you like the Percy Jackson books, this will fill that Greek mythology need. Madeline Miller definitely holds her own in the Greek mythology genre of books. Anyway, It's told from the pov of Patroclus, Achilles' dearest *ahem* friend, and it's just,,, w o n d e r f u l. And also more heartbreaking than the vast majority of books I've read. It's one of the only few to actually make me cry.
Reddie fandom asked for Africa to this. And I provided.
Yes!
if I wrote a modern tlh fic would anyone read it?
Hunter Husbands (✿◠‿◠)
This post is pathetic.
1-Alec was about to turn 18.
2-As a 17 old year book he has the right to date someone he likes for the first time in his life. Also, he was about to become 18.
3-When CC published his first book, City of Bone it was ten years ago, 2007. In that time society was nor open minded. A lot of publishing houses rejected her work because there was a gay character in it. Now she has more freedom to deep in her character´s sexuality and you can see it in the recent book. Also, it is going to be published a whole trilogy only about Males.
4-Magnus never never never forced Alec to come out. in fact, in City of Ashes Alec under the fearless rune is about to come out with his parents and the one who stops him is Magnus because he knew Alec was not ready. Magnus was upset about Alec not telling the truth about their relationship with the people that knew about his sexuality. When Alec kisses Magnus in front of all the Clave is because he wants to.
5-Alec never says that Magnus may be cheating on him. NEVER. He´s upset about Magnus sexuality at the beginning because he is insecure and that only increased his insecurity. And yes, that is a flaw he has. But character are no perfect, then, they would be too boring. But Alec grows up as a person and is developed.
6-Alec regretted having the idea of stealing Magnus´ immortality and in fact in the City o Lost Souls epilogue he goes to tell Camille he will not do that to his boyfriend. Then is when Magnus breaks up with him because he is hurt. Everyone would be hurt. When they come together they have learned how to solved the problems they had.
7-He never killed a demon because he was too busy protecting his siblings. That shows how much he cares about them. I would not say that that is a sign of weakness. It´s just you trying to prove Cassandra clare is homophobic which she is obviously not. LOL
8-it is pathetic of you to mention Magnus style like it is something wrong like i am laughting so hard right now. Btw, Magnus in the show wears the same clothes lol
9-It is even more pathetic to make jobs about her name. You can not like her work, but over all she is a person who has not hurt you in any way. There is no reason to make jokes about her.
10-As a beginner writer who is trying to write a book let me you there a re a lot of character that did not exist when i started to write it. They came to my mind while writing it and of course that does not mean i love them less than the characters i created in a firs moment. lol
11-She does not want to make money off LGBT community. That is insane. In fact, her publishers recommend her to write a trilogy about Clase because it would sell more than one about malec.
Please come back when you read the books.
Hi, why do u hate the book Malec i mean i have not read the books but i want to and every time i see a post hating Book Malec it is just puts me and it is 6 books is all the malec in all the books like that !!? Thanks
I’ve done quite a lot about this in my anti cc tag, but here’s the main gist of it:- When they meet, Magnus is over 400 years old and Alec is 17- They date and kiss (if I’m remembering correctly) while Alec is 17- There is a post that counts the amount of Malec scenes in the books and there were about 60 in a book series with over 1700 pages- Magnus kept trying to pressure Alec to come out into an extremely homophobic society to the extent that he refuses to speak to him until he comes out- When Magnus tells Alec that he’s bi, Alec constantly accuses him of cheating or of having dated everyone that he sees- It’s played off as insecurity despite him not having cared before he told him he likes women too- Nobody goes ‘hey Alec that’s a really shitty thing to say’, they just let him be biphobic as hell- Magnus refuses to tell him literally ANYTHING about his past until the 6th book- He is so adamant about not telling him that when Camille tells Alec that she used to date Magnus, Alec believes her over his boyfriend- Camille convinces Alec to try to steal Magnus’ immortality behind his back- They literally broke up because they are so shitty at communicating- Alec is the Token Gay- He is portrayed as weaker than the others (17 years old and has never killed a demon whereas Simon kills a demon immediately)- (Not really related but Magnus’ fashion sense is just so shitty I mean Jesus Christ how is that stylish?????? Like rainbow leather pants and vests without shirts??? I’m pretty sure he’s a disco ball pretending to be a man????)- Magnus is creepy as shit, like in the BC he sees a ‘shadowhunter youth’ and says 'sorry I was distracted, someone hot just came in’- Casserole Chicken fetishises them and likely only put them in so we got excited about gay and bisexual representation and decided to read it- She says that she loves Malec even though she killed Alec off in the first draft of CoB and originally never wrote Magnus- She wrote a book about the missing scenes with Malec because she barely wrote any originally and wanted to get money off the LGBT+ community

Why does no one seem to talk about the awesomeness that is Marisol? Marisol is someone who:
-Took up fencing when she was younger, which then worked in her favour when she started training at the Academy.
-She ends up being in the top twenty in her class, despite being “a dreg”.
-She enjoyed teasing Jon with references to all things Mundane, as the pair became closer.
-Jon Cartwight was initially an arrogant Shadowhunter when he is first introduced, and thought that, becasue he was a Shadowhunter, he was above Mundanes. Marisol is a significant factor in getting him to change this view.
-Jon was also introduced as being a bit of a bully, but by the end of the book, is shown to care a lot about Marisol (someone he used bully a bit) and actually got bullied a little bit by Marisol.
-Marisol successfully ascended to be a Shadowhunter - something only the worthy are able to do.
-Marisol and Jon ended up dating, and she was devestated (naturally) when he died.

Both would later deny any presence of tears, pointing instead to the rain.
