Helen is exiled to Wrangel because it is necessary for the TDA plot. And yes, she is sent because being half-faery because the Clave is racist. We all know that. Cassandra knows that. She has said that the Clave may be the real villain in the series. Are you really complaining about a healthy family? Whoa
Casserole Chicken: I love gay people! Look at Malec and Heline! Also Casserole Chicken: *makes Alec biphobic* *gives Malec one mortal and one immortal child so Magnus and Max will live long past Alec and Rafael (the older brother in case you forgot)* *banishes Heline to Wrangel Island just because Helen in half-fae*
This woman deserves the entire world
So I met Madeline Miller last night! She was SO soft! She talked a lot about TSOA which was nice since I was worried it was gonna be all about Circe (which I didn’t like as much) – she explained the difference in the writing style which I actually REALLY thought was interesting, esp bc it was one of the things I really noticed a difference in and didn’t necessarily LIKE – TSOA was written based on a more lyrical style of greek poetry bc that was the more intimate and kind of….. daily…. style of poetry bc she wanted Achilles to be seen in that sort of light rather than in the Epic style of the Illiad how he’s been seen a million times, and Circe was the exact opposite – she wanted all of these “boring” daily tasks (motherhood, childbirth, tending the herb garden) to be seen from an epic perspective, so it was really neat to see how she turned those two things kinda upside down.
She pronounced Patroclus wrong, which I was annoyed w at first but after hearing her talk about them I didn’t really mind – she obviously loves them as much as I do haha. She actually directed theatre before she started writing, and she directed Troilus and Cressida (Shakespeare’s take on The Iliad) and she said “it was really exciting for me because it was the first time I got to really interact with the characters – I got to actually talk to Achilles about his motivations and why he wouldn’t fight, and that really inspired me to write tsoa” It really resonated w me how she talked about interacting w the characters (I majored in musical theatre) and how that changed her perspective.
She was asked if she ever, over the course of ten (10) years that it took her to write TSOA, thought about giving up, to which she replied “oh absolutely.” She had actually spent 5 years writing a draft that she threw out completely because she realized it was written in the epic style and didn’t do justice to Patroclus’s voice.
When asked what kept her going, she said:
“It was Patroclus. He deserved to have his story told.”
Jessa, Sizzy, Jemma, Shophie and Gideon, Cecily and Gabriel, Charlotte and Henry...
Tell me one ship in Cassandra Clare’s universe (from TID, TDA or TMI) which wasn’t at some point toxic and/or abusive? I would really like to know, because I couldn’t find a single one.

‘What was [Achilles’] best part?’ ‘His lover Patroclus.’

I’m curious, what was the most recently released book in the shadowhunter chronicles when everyone first started reading them? Mine was clockwork prince!
Tales from Shadow Hunter Academy and then I'd say Ghost os the shadow market.
I'll die with City of Glass, but I'm gonna guess the majority are gonna say Clockwork Princess.
I taught myself English just because I wanted to read fanfictions about my otps
