“I was excited to write the story of Magnus and Alec Having An Adventure and Falling More In Love for a very long time, but my ability to do so was limited by the way publishing and distribution worked back in 2005, when I was initially trying to sell City of Bones. There was a lot more resistance to gay characters in YA at that time. A couple of publishers turned the book down because Alec, a gay character, was in it. The Barnes & Noble website page for City of Bones included a review from Commonsense Media where they gave it a content warning for “sexual content” just because of the presence of a gay character even though he never did anything sexual. A lot of big box stores refused to carry the book, and major children’s book clubs passed it over. 
I always hoped for systems to change. As the books grew more popular, and as times changed, I was able to include more of Magnus and Alec as the series went on. In fact, their presence in the story and on the page made a big jump starting in CoFA, at which point I received a surge of criticism from those who were upset that I was writing about Magnus and Alec more prominently. I remember having my books pulled from libraries; foreign translators cut scenes with Magnus and Alec in them; once I was standing in the middle of the street about to get into a car to take me to a school where I was going to do a talk about my books when my publicist came up and said we were no longer invited: the school had read about Magnus and Alec and they didn’t want me there. Or often, if I was at a school, I’d be asked not to talk about Magnus and Alec while speaking to the students. 
I tried to walk a careful line, including Magnus and Alec (and later, Aline and Helen) as significant and meaningful characters, but still managing to keep schools, libraries, and reading groups from throwing the books out or locking them up where the kids who most needed to read them wouldn’t be able to access them at all.“

Kit and Ty were sitting on the floor of Ty’s room, backs to the wall. Ty was playing with a bundle of pipe cleaners in his lap, and Kit couldn’t help but notice the way Ty’s eyelashes dusted across his cheeks, they way the shadows played in the hollows beneath his throat and collarbones.

How beautiful.

They weren’t talking about anything in particular. They were enjoying each other’s company. In an Institute where everyone was always running around, Ty - and Kit - needed silence and careless, comfortable conversation.

“By the way,” said Kit jokingly. “What is going on with Mark and Kieran?”

At that, Ty looked up. He smiled. (And Kit’s heart stuttered, but that was unimportant.)

“I don’t know,” he said earnestly. “But I don’t think I want to know either. It’s not my business.”

“Though I did saw them kiss yesterday,” Ty added, and something like mischief sparkled in his eyes, just for a sliver of a second.

“It’s strange, isn’t it?”

“Kissing?” Ty asked.

“No, love. Though kissing is strange too,” Kit added. He smiled at the ceiling he was watching.

‘Change the subject,’ his mind said. Talking about kissing with Ty made him want to kiss Ty - a decidedly bad idea.

Instead he found himself wondering how it would be, to kiss Ty. How his lips would feel on Kit’s, how Ty’s hair would feel under his fingers - like silk, he imagined.

“I’ve never kissed anyone,” said Ty.

It wasn’t in the way that anyone else would have said it - with hidden meanings or agendas - it was just Ty: he was just sharing information. He didn’t expect anything in return, not actions, at least.

Before he knew, Kit was leaning in to brush his lips against Ty’s, a light caress, just a breath, a breeze.

His heart jumped, he did nothing except “now you have” he told Ty.

Ty’s high cheekbones were flushed. He looked flustered. For a moment Kit was afraid that he had done the wrong thing.

His friendship - or whatever he had with Ty - he wouldn’t sacrifice for anything.

And then Ty whispered, “Kiss me again.”

Kit did.

Slowly, slowly at first. Softly, gently, he kissed Ty’s mouth, and then his jaw and his neck. Ty went very still.

Kit pulled the other boy into his lap and lifted Ty’s chin. He kissed Ty again.

And then Ty was alive. He kissed Kit, and it shattered his world and made it whole again.

Ty’s hands fisted in Kit’s shirt, pulling Kit closer to him. He kissed Kit with an urgency he had never associated with Ty.

Kit nuzzled Ty’s neck, hoping to hide in this closeness with Ty, to escape and forget everything that wasn’t Ty, and Ty’s lips and his body.

“Now I’ve been kissed,” said Ty and the simpleness that covered so much hidden emotion made Kit’s heart swell inside his chest.

He laughed and touched their foreheads together. And he kissed Ty again.

It was late when they fell asleep in Ty’s bed. Ty was holding Kit’s hand when his breathing evened out. Carefully, Kit kissed the inside of Ty’s wrist.

The moon shone on Ty’s hair, making it shine. It softened the curve of Ty’s gentle lips and his featherlight eyelashes.

1-Alec was about to turn 18.

2-As a 17 old year book he has the right to date someone he likes for the first time in his life. Also, he was about to become 18.

3-When CC published his first book, City of Bone it was ten years ago, 2007. In that time society was nor open minded. A lot of publishing houses rejected her work because there was a gay character in it. Now she has more freedom to deep in her character´s sexuality and you can see it in the recent book. Also, it is going to be published a whole trilogy only about Males. 

4-Magnus never never never forced Alec to come out. in fact, in City of Ashes Alec under the fearless rune is about to come out with his parents and the one who stops him is Magnus because he knew Alec was not ready. Magnus was upset about Alec not telling the truth about their relationship with the people that knew about his sexuality. When Alec kisses Magnus in front of all the Clave is because he wants to.

5-Alec never says that Magnus may be cheating on him. NEVER. He´s upset about Magnus sexuality at the beginning because he is insecure and that only increased his insecurity. And yes, that is a flaw he has. But character are no perfect, then, they would be too boring. But Alec grows up as a person and is developed. 

6-Alec regretted having the idea of stealing Magnus´ immortality and in fact in the City o Lost Souls epilogue he goes to tell Camille he will not do that to his boyfriend. Then is when Magnus breaks up with him because he is hurt. Everyone would be hurt. When they come together they have learned how to solved the problems they had. 

7-He never killed a demon because he was too busy protecting his siblings. That shows how much he cares about them. I would not say that that is a sign of weakness. It´s just you trying to prove Cassandra clare is homophobic which she is obviously not. LOL

8-it is pathetic of you to mention Magnus style like it is something wrong like i am laughting so hard right now. Btw, Magnus in the show wears the same clothes lol

9-It is even more pathetic to make jobs about her name. You can not like her work, but over all she is a person who has not hurt you in any way. There is no reason to make jokes about her. 

10-As a beginner writer who is trying to write a book let me you there a re a lot of character that did not exist when i started to write it. They came to my mind while writing it and of course that does not mean i love them less than the characters i created in a firs moment. lol 

11-She does not want to make money off LGBT community. That is insane. In fact, her publishers recommend her to write a trilogy about Clase because it would sell more than one about malec.

I’ve done quite a lot about this in my anti cc tag, but here’s the main gist of it:- When they meet, Magnus is over 400 years old and Alec is 17- They date and kiss (if I’m remembering correctly) while Alec is 17- There is a post that counts the amount of Malec scenes in the books and there were about 60 in a book series with over 1700 pages- Magnus kept trying to pressure Alec to come out into an extremely homophobic society to the extent that he refuses to speak to him until he comes out- When Magnus tells Alec that he’s bi, Alec constantly accuses him of cheating or of having dated everyone that he sees- It’s played off as insecurity despite him not having cared before he told him he likes women too- Nobody goes ‘hey Alec that’s a really shitty thing to say’, they just let him be biphobic as hell- Magnus refuses to tell him literally ANYTHING about his past until the 6th book- He is so adamant about not telling him that when Camille tells Alec that she used to date Magnus, Alec believes her over his boyfriend- Camille convinces Alec to try to steal Magnus’ immortality behind his back- They literally broke up because they are so shitty at communicating- Alec is the Token Gay- He is portrayed as weaker than the others (17 years old and has never killed a demon whereas Simon kills a demon immediately)- (Not really related but Magnus’ fashion sense is just so shitty I mean Jesus Christ how is that stylish?????? Like rainbow leather pants and vests without shirts??? I’m pretty sure he’s a disco ball pretending to be a man????)- Magnus is creepy as shit, like in the BC he sees a ‘shadowhunter youth’ and says 'sorry I was distracted, someone hot just came in’- Casserole Chicken fetishises them and likely only put them in so we got excited about gay and bisexual representation and decided to read it- She says that she loves Malec even though she killed Alec off in the first draft of CoB and originally never wrote Magnus- She wrote a book about the missing scenes with Malec because she barely wrote any originally and wanted to get money off the LGBT+ community

I feel the same here. I wanted so bad to read The Last Hours as soon as I could. Finally someone who understands me

This is gonna sound so stupid but I was really looking forward to TLH in 2018, and though OBVIOUSLY I’m thrilled to have QoAaD a year sooner I’m just so upset over having to wait TWO YEARS for TLH aaaah.
