Do you think it would have been cool if Atsushi's white tiger aged with him as he grew up

i like to imagine byakko only lets dazai transform her back to atsushi in ways she likes to bully him

if u dont know, my general headcanon is that byakko still overtakes atsushi completely during full moons (i mean... weretiger) but she's no longer aggressive becuz atsushi is no longer abused/alone/in danger so she just hangs around, takes walks, goes hunting, tries to eat ranpo, ya know the normal stuff

but sometimes if atsushi is scared or anxious or stressed, she'll just take over, especially at night time (weretiger i mean come on) but like still, she's chill

anyway a lot of the time she takes over and the ada get called in and need atsushi or just need atsushi back for whatever reason, dazai has to use his ability on her

and she's surprisingly nonchalant about it... kinda

dazai: okay byakko, lets have atsushi bacmphfasdfj

byakko, stalking forward to slap her paw against his face:

byakko, calmly walking over, getting on hind legs to place her front paws on dazai's covered shoulders:

dazai, seeing byakko and waving at her: there u are!! be a good kitty- oh no ... no bad kitty... stay back bad kitt-

byakko, leaping of whichever building she was on to run full speed at dazai and tackle him to the ground, transforming back to atsushi in the process:

atsushi, waking up dazed and confused on a vaguely injured dazai: wha? *falls asleep*

sometimes she's nice and puts her face against dazai's and gives him a little greeting or lets him try to pet her or grabs the end of his coat and starts dragging him away or bites his hand or sits on him or sits still and lets him transforms her back

finally got my act together and contributed to the atsushi big cat instincts agenda. more to come after finals!!!

this is how a beach episode would ACTUALLY play out in my head - kunikida, dazai, and atsushi focus

kunikida: are you not gonna go swimming dazai?

dazai: nope! i think today im just going to relax in the sand! maybe i'll try and drown myself later tho... what about you?

kunikida: im not swimming either

dazai: awww why not

kunikida: for some reason i dont feel safe getting in the ocean w/ u here

dazai, snickering: aww~ how could you say that~ im so hurt

atsushi, in the background, trying to secretly run away:

dazai: aww atsushi-kun why are you sneaking away

atsushi, startled: me? running away? haha... no i wouldn't

kunikida: atsushi, is everything all right? don't tell me you've decided to not participate in a company wide vacation?

atsushi: no! it's not that

dazai: you cant swim? but you fish me out all the time

atsushi: i know how to swim! i just... i don't really like water

dazai: is it becuz you're a cat?

kunikida and atsushi: he's/im a tiger

kunikida: atsushi don't tigers usually like water

atsushi: well... im not really a tiger... it's just my ability

kunikida: is it becuz dazai's here?he is a rather unsafe person to be near when you're also near wtaer

dazai: how cruel~ atsushi-kun i pinky promise i wont drown you~

atsushi, shyly: you really promise?

dazai, who was just joking: ?????????

kunikida, also flabbergasted: ?????????? did you think one of us would-

atsushi: no! i mean obviously not haha... but you promise...?

kunikida: and to get you out of the water if you're in trouble

atsushi: oh... but didn't you not want to swim

kunikida dazai, professional dgaslighters: that never happened

atsushi: ...oh okay... then i think i'll try to swim... you'll be there?

dazai and kunikida: of course

dazai: atsushi-kun you really...

kunikida: atsushi, please, it's been 7 hours come back out

atsushi, having the time of his life, eyes sparkling, tail wagging: five more minutes!!

kunikida: you said that last time too...

dazai: atsushi-kun sure likes water

kunikida, fixing his glasses: we have to just grab him and run off quickly

dazai: ooh~ kunikida wants to kidnap someone~? how despciable

kunikida: its not kidnapping its for his own good

dazai: if that helps you sleep at night :3

ik this isn't canon at all but I do think it would be a beautiful thing if Byakko turned out to be a weretiger cub. What if Byakko is just the child inside Atsushi. The child who is used to pain and violence and lashes out. The child who wants to protect Atsushi by healing him, killing chickens so he doesn't starve, hurting people who hurt him. What if Atsushi's reconciliation with Byakko is him accepting the childhood he had and the child that is still inside him and screaming to be loved. What if we get to watch Byakko become less violent, and turn into what a real child or cub should be like- wanting to play, wanting affection. What if through Byakko, we get to see Atsushi's inner child healing a little.
