i want atsushi to have more cat like features. him getting twitchy when he sees birds or squirrels, growling when frustrated and purring softly when content, being very territorial, having a scratchy tongue……… i want him to be more big cat coded

Lately I’ve been really enamoured with the idea that the tiger is like. a secondary personality in atsushi’s head that he can speak to, and occasionally the living incarnation of gremlin brain

atsushi, grocery shopping: okay so i’ve saved enough coupons to eat this week tiger: fish. eat. consume! atsushi: no, i’m not transforming in the middle of the supermarket so you can go apeshit on the raw fish section. tiger: but….fish prey atsushi: but money can and should be exchanged for goods and services tiger: useless square leaves.

atsushi: smiling is a display of affection, okay? tiger: baring your teeth is a challenge and an invitation to fight or submit atsushi: well, how would you show affection? tiger: slow blink to display trust. rub scent glands against them. chuff. curl around to share warmth. atsushi: that’s– listen I know I had a weird childhood deprived of affection, but I really don’t think that’s how it works. tiger: ….bring prey for them to consume? atsushi: no. i still haven’t been able to look Kunikida in the eyes ever since you left the dead rat on his back porch tiger: was gift. atsushi: he doesn’t eat rats! tiger:…bring mouse? atsushi: you know this would be a lot easier if you didn’t keep suggesting dead animals the rest of the ADA, who’s been watching this one sided exchange go down: 0_0

i like to think that Atsushi can faintly smell people coming,

he can smell some green tea whenever Kyoka walks by, the sickly sweet candy smell Ranpo reeks of whenever he pops out of nowhere, and sometimes even a faint smell of white lillies of Dazai every now and then

with that being said, he can easily recognise smells he deems safe (safe being the agency) and smells that make him more alert, so he doesn't get jumpscared when an enemy suprises him, but could jump 40ft into the air if Kenji walks up behind him

let the tiger also be a part of the agency dammit

atsushi doesnt like storms becuz all alone in the cage the loud noises scared him but its okay now becuz dazai and ranpo noticed so dazai holds his hand when its storming so the loud noises arent as loud and ranpo gives him candy and yosano bought him noise cancelling headphones and kunikida makes him hot chocolate and fukuzawa gives him a weighted blanket and junichiro calls him every time it says its gonna storm to let him know and kyouka sits by his side so he knows he's not in the cage and akutagawa tried to fight the sky (he was a little tipsy when he first learned)

Convinced atsushi is so stressed out all the time that he is pretty much always running a low grade fever

I love the idea of this so much actually...maybe it has something to do with the tiger ability...maybe he goes to Yosano one day exasperated asking for some advice or medication to help manage his stress because it overwhelms him sometimes and maybe while looking him over she feels that he's warm...she checks his temperature and it's just an even 100. Not bad but not normal. She recommends something he can take and gives him some fever reducers and sends him on his way...she checks on him a week later and realizes he still has the same fever. and then the week after that. she comes to the conclusion that he just always has this for some reason and I need to figure out how to fix it lol

i like to thimk atsushi bumps his head onto people out of affection (like a cat)

but whenever he does it to akutagawa he gets all huffy and puffy bc he thinks atsushi is trying to insult him or smth

headcanon that atsushi is obsessed with blankets and can often be found wrapped in like six of them

For the first few weekends when Atsushi gets some time off, he’ll just roll up under his covers of his futon and stay there for days. • When he has nightmares or there are times where he is reminded of his past, Atsushi pulls his blankets around his body and cocoons himself in the warmth they offer, the comfort of the soft sheets reminding him that that isn’t his life anymore and he’s allowed to feel warm and safe. • When he’s sick he’ll walk around the house wrapped in a huge fluffy duvet and just rest on the sofa all day until he feels well enough to work again. • Cuddling Atsushi under the blankets would be 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻• He’s like a human radiator oh my god can you imagine the purring • LET THIS BOY FEEL LoVE DAmn iT

akutagawa sleeps like the dead. literally. on his back, hands crossed over his chest, not moving a single inch.

on the other hand, atsushi literally sprawls across the entire bed. he turns and accidentally slaps aku in the face with his arm. he yowls and chuffs and growls in his sleep.

it's horrible. neither of them get any sleep the first few days they start living together

i like to think atsushi definitely still has cat-like behaviour when he’s in human form.

like someone’s being nice to him and he has the strong urge to rub his head against them lovingly. new people are like wtf atsushi but the rest of the agency is just like yeah he does that sometimes.
