anytime atsushi gets excited his tail pops out and wags but no one tells him becuz they think its funny to see atsushi try and pretend he's not excited and act nonchalant

bet atsushi never takes time off becuz idk he doesn't think he can - like he knows he can but he also doesn't think he can

that doesn't make sense but i hope u get it

anyway he never requests time off - he's only not there if he's sick (and was bullied into resting) or something like he personally never puts in the request

if there's some festival or event or anything that anyone thinks atsushi would want to go and would go if not for work they let the boss man know

fukuzawa: atsushi, you haven't taken much time off, but it's good to take a break now and then. if you want, you can have monday and tuesday off. (which weirdly is the exact time that that one event u wanted to go to is on but obviously thats just a coincidence)

atsushi, tail wagging: oh that's alright

fukuzawa: i insist.

Bridges Burned Part I

One of the Headmaster’s favorite things to say about Atsushi was that he destroyed everything he touched.

It wasn’t one of his lessons, exactly; he never applied it to Atsushi’s mind with more than brief, dismissive words, never carved it into Atsushi’s back with belt or stick. "You destroy everything, boy,“ he would simply say. And he would look at him with profound disgust and leave.

So Atsushi figured that this was one rule he could circumvent with time. He broke breakable things, yes, because his hands shook often; he stepped over fragilities, indeed, in his attempts to cower and flee; but these were not things he attributed to himself as much as to the Headmaster, who was the source of the flight and who was the source of the shakes.

Atsushi thought: Once I am out of here, I won’t shake anymore.

Atsushi?

Headcanon A:  realistic

He keeps a notebook about all his new experiences living in Yokohama, but rather than focusing on the fighting and bad things, it’s mostly filled with recipes for different foods and drawings of random things he’s seen.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

Since tigers can’t purr, when Atsushi is in his tiger form, he chuffs, and he makes this noise a lot in his sleep in his human form as well when he’s having a good dream.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Despite all his efforts, he will probably always have days where he feels like he’s useless, and days where he can’t stop thinking negatively.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

As a small child, Atsushi only turned into a tiger cub when he transformed.

actually does bsd have anesthesia or the such fics after like wisdom tooth removal or just after some surgery where the person gets all loopy cuz i cant remember seeing any

Just as a side note to the Runaway sskk au: Kyouka is saved from the mafia by Akutagawa.

Atsushi was never the level that og!Akutagawa was as a mentor, but Kyouka was scared as fuck of him because he never took human form near her and was always watching from afar, so she frequently felt like walking on eggshells and like he would kill her if she made the slightest slip during any of her missions.

In reality Atsushi was just trying to look out for her in a way a tiger will usually deal with a cub close to the age of beggining to hunt, tottally unaware of how scary he was for her until she was hiding behind Akutagawa when he came to retrieve Kyouka from the ada and realized she thought of him as a threat.

Rewatching Bungo Stray Dogs (can’t remember where I got to in the anime, but I stopped reading during blimp arc) and. Yeah. Two episodes in and I’m just like, ‘Does Atsushi scent mark people or the office. Does Dazai slow blink at him, making Atsushi both confused but also calms him down? Atsushi struggling with if he doesn’t remember last night because he transformed, or because he drank. Or possibly being affected more by alcohol. Can Atsushi even HAVE a lot of alcohol or does that affect him more? (But if cats can’t eat onions or garlic, he would have probably noticed by now, unless he just figures he’s got a sensitive stomach and/or he’s just not used to non-orphanage food).’

Yeah. It’s very clear there’s a certain character trope that just activates my brain, pffft.
