Before I get into it, if it calms anyone’s nerves, I think this poster is a case of questionable graphic design. The weird official render style makes the characters look different from normal, plus Chat, Carapace, and Rena are all squished to match Ladybug’s proportions on the poster. This is an interesting choice from the designer: making the smallest character in the group take up the entire height and corresponding width of the poster and then awkwardly smushing the others in next to her. That’s why Carapace looks more short and stout than usual, and why Chat and Rena are kinda elongated. It doesn’t help that they shrunk Rena to accommodate her fox ears.
I’m liking the little updates to the hero suits. I honestly wasn’t expecting to see change for anyone but Ladybug and Chat, so now I’m excited to see everyone else. I love the changes on Carapace. They took his old, pretty simple suit and added a lot of new textures like the chest plate and wrist guards, and they gave him fingerless gloves and neck speakers. This gives me hope that they’ll update other designs that get criticized for just being a bodysuit with a decal on it like Ryuko and Viperion’s into something more interesting.
Rena is very similar, but her ears are bigger and pointier, the flute has been redesigned, her palms are white now, she has big poppin’ eyeliner, and her tail seems to be dark. Some people noted that they seem to be making Alya’s skin look darker after accusations of whitewashing her, so I hope they’ll finally give Pegasus the same treatment.
I’ve seen people say LB and CN must’ve taken influence from their reverse selves for their current designs, and CN seems to have some PV nods like his new shirt collar. Ladybug’s design feels more mature and is probably a response to criticism of her looking too simple as a character with a fashion interest among other superheroes with more detailed designs.
I didn’t include the poster of Marinette’s outfit, but overall I like it. I agree with people saying the bow on her shirt feels extra, but I like her emonette jacket. Her tights under jorts remind me of Mylene’s outfit, making me wonder if there’s some character influence there, or if they’ll be changing Mylene’s clothes so they don’t look too similar.
First look at Alya! Yay! I love her new haircut. It reminds me of Haru from persona 5. She seems to be wearing the same shirt, which is lame. Maybe the rest of her outfit has changed, or maybe they’re not fixing what isn’t broke. It’s disappointing, though, that Adrien’s outfit looks the same. I can only dream that they’re leading up to a makeover scene where he realizes he’s allowed to pick out his own clothes now, but alas.
Here Adrien is jogging with a new character (?) who has a prosthetic leg. There’s no good look at their face and even this screenshot sucks. If this is the same scene as Marinette with binoculars, then we might be getting a rare moment of a new character being introduced through Adrien rather than Marinette, perhaps someone he knows from rich people stuff or whatever nebulous and dubiously canon sports he participates in.
This frame appears after a camera pan right from a modernized remodel of the school. Before, there were average city blocks around the school, so whatever this is might be part of an expanded campus built for Bustier’s utopian academy.
I think I’ve written in a post before that I hope ML does something to commemorate the Paris 2024 Olympics, so I’m thrilled to see an Olympian akuma in the trailer! Perhaps this character is a celebrity cameo, but idk anything about Team France and its stars. It’s possible this scenario will be a special episode as well, but maybe more like the plastic special than the world specials. I hope they have to beat her by competing in games like Penalteam but with less cheating. It’d be awesome if the other heroes helped represent events that fit their characters. An episode like that would be a fun and light way to introduce the new animation and hero designs without diving into deep overarching drama and lore.
Perhaps the character jogging with Adrien is connected to this episode since they have a prosthetic running leg and seem athletic.
Here’s our first look at Lila’s akumatization. Her mask thing is very pretty and soft looking compared to Gabriel’s sharp, geometric, simple one. It reminds me of a masquerade mask with all the swirls. Maybe there’s some visual symbolism here of Lila being a more complex butterfly user than Hawkmoth. We also see her shooting some sort of beam at CN from the mask, maybe separate from the akuma’s power. I hope they’ll revisit the somewhat-retconned bloodbending power we saw Hawkmoth use on Evillustrator and Pixelator and explore the full extent of the butterfly’s power over their akumas.
Tomoe? Astruc said he wants Kagami to fight her and take her down further down the road, and I believe she may be a bigger villain than they’re making her out to be now. Lila is great and all, but an adult threat who owns a tech megacorp and is one of the only surviving members of Gabriel’s creepy billionaire sentibaby cult seems like a scarier enemy than the pathological liar from class. We don’t know Lila’s deal yet, but I imagine her villain motives are probably something deeply personal. Meanwhile, Tomoe might be trying to reach some greater goal that Gabriel failed to achieve. Both she and Lila practically had all the fruits of his evil labor fall into their laps without lifting a finger, so they might have an interesting dynamic as rival villains or fake allies.
Okay this is from the London special. The synopsis says someone found Ladybug’s identity to take her down, and she and Bunnyx have to solve the mystery and reverse the events. This masked person looks like they may be the enemy, and their design is themed after the rabbit miraculous. People have been kinda assuming that it’s just Lila, but everyone in the audience knows she’s the next big villain right now, so it feels like a cop-out to frame this special as a mystery. It could still be her, and it’s just a mystery to the heroes, but what if the enemy is someone else? If they’re using the rabbit miraculous, Lila wouldn’t have access to it during season 5 unless she stole it somehow and gave it back unnoticed.
My theory is that the villain is Tomoe who got the miraculous from Gabriel. The trailer shows catbug looking in on Adrien and Kagami in their white rooms, so maybe during that time, Gabriel sent rabbit!Tomoe after Ladybug to ensure his victory in the upcoming finale, and maybe she has her own motives as well.
I recall Zag releasing concepts of some hero or spy characters from London a long time ago, and I thought they’d be for the London world special like Eagle and Lady Dragon, but maybe they’re for a different show or got scrapped in favor of focusing on the main miraculous plot (which honestly, good. Please focus on the existing characters)
Finally, poor Nooroo in Lila’s creepy catacomb bunker. I hope her jumpscare reaction at the end of s5 wasn’t just the sight of him. It would feel odd after the latest of Marinette’s hero friends were totally chill seeing kwamis for the first time. He’s in some bubble here. Maybe it’s stopping him from sharing things he’s not allowed to say, or maybe Lila is forcing him to stay put? I’m also curious about the angle and what that metal bar is a part of. Is Lila sitting under a table?
Anyway! TLDR I like the new designs overall and I’m excited to see everyone else. I’m also excited at the prospect of an Olympics episode and I think Tomoe may be the next big villain next to or even surpassing Lila.
so i was having autism time with @yaboieif when we started talking about felix graham de vanily and i came to an excellent realization
so you know at the end of season 5, where they show all the heroes together and felix is part of them? yeah that always irked me. for several reasons actually-
1. argos is publicly felix graham de vanily. everyone (or at least everyone at the diamonds dance) saw him transform. they know it’s felix (or even adrien agreste) but even if devices weren’t allowed at the event like the secret meeting at the agreste mansion, then word of mouth certainly would’ve done it. also, i think most people probably figured out his little stunt with redmoon wasn’t an akumatization, via interviews or other reporting
2. felix has always had an angle, no matter whose side he was on. this is more clearly seen in the later seasons, firstly in season 4 when he betrays ladybug in order to get the peacock to have control over his (and adrien’s, and kagami’s) safety. secondly, he works with kagami in season 5 to take gabriel down, NOT TO HELP LADYBUG NECESSARILY, but the key motive is taking gabriel down. it’s always been his agenda, even if he ends up helping ladybug in the process.
therefore, when i saw him in the finale standing with the other heroes, with a stupid protagonist goody-goody smile on his face, something didn’t sit right. where was the angle?
i’ll FREAKING TELL YOU the angle, gents. who do we see prominently featured as a villain in the new trailers for s6, other than cerise?
so i present to you felix’s angle for joining the HERO TEAM that opposes the VILLAINS: he’s freeing his girlfriend.
badabingbadaboom i’m the maker of the cain and abel sentitwins post i understand and i see things
🚘that car is simply too independent to be possible
🚘if it were an actual car, then why is tomoe gatekeeping that innovative car technology? why is her rich friend group still using regular cars with drivers?
🚘the amok might be in the seats, seatbelt or somewhere you automatically touch as a passenger so that you can speak your command and tatsu can obey
🚘gabriel saying "adrien noo!!" = kagami saying "tatsu let's go" which matches the theme of saying a sentis name followed by your command

Hi, I hope you're well.
I'm asking this for my friend who recently started watching bl. Can you recommend some enemies-to-lovers bl? Other than Bad Buddy
Gosh there are so many enemies to lovers. I thought I had a post for this but I guess not.
I’m tempted to draw a distinction between enemies to lovers and one sided crush with a massive tsundere character. So, for example, We Best Love is not strictly enemies to lovers, because only one of them thinks they're enemies, but Semantic Error is, because mostly they both are in it to fight. But I’m lazy, so I’m just gonna pick the top 10 off my spreadsheet labeled E2L and call it a day. Presumably, you can decide on the quality of your own enemies to lovers desires?
Korea hits it entirely out of the Park by doing a university set BL with everything we might expect done exactly right, their signature quality executed perfectly, and added bonus good story, great pacing, and fantastic chemistry. You cannot ask for more from a BL, let alone a KBL.
They enemies, but really only one of them cares because he such a tsundere fucker. (We love him for it.) WBL successfully managed to pick up and combine the best features of Korean, Thai, and Japanese BL as it exists right now. Couple that to the insane chemistry from the leads, and we have one of the greatest BLs of all time, cooking to a recipe I doubt anyone else will ever be able to replicate since only Taiwan is this flexible. (I consider WBL 2 parts as one whole.)
GMMTV’s flagship BL started 2022 on a BANG (okay no actual banging but you know what I mean), starring heavy hitters Ohm & Nanon in a pitch perfect university Romeo & Romeo masterpiece that will give you domesticity meets pain whiplash throughout and jet lag at the end. Great production values, killer acting, and some conscious effort to correct for half a decade of Thai BL’s anti-queer mistakes. It’s fantastic.
Technically both couples start out as enemies. It’s pretty clear Fighter is hella gay for Tutor and just can’t work his shit out, and that Saifah has a crush on Zon, but it takes them all a while to flirt their way into lovers. The story on this one is messy, but you can’t fault the chemistry, and is is the best high heat BL we’ve ever gotten from Thailand. (Trigger: hazing)
Another one where the set up is enemies but the uke is just a massive tsundere who’s walls need to be scaled and shelled - as opposed to the standard practice of chipping away slowly. This is the BL that launched a hundred BLs. No literally, It was SOTUS’s international success that pretty much built the Thai BL industry into the juggernaut it is today. People have baggage around SOTUS, I have nostalgia. (Trigger: hazing)
Basically the definition of enemies to lovers. This is a cop + the mafia man he is chasing but WAIT, they fall in love. Added bonus side couple: assassin and nerd cop ALSO falling in love. It’s great. All the leads are stellar. Its high heat, fun action, and a bit of a mystery drama but pretty about all of it. My only warning is that the main couple doesn’t entirely end up together, it’s implied, but... amorphous ending.
The set up on this one is enemies (also boss/employee) and they don’t like each other to start. But that gets resolved pretty quickly. And then they are some of the cutest, hottest, and best boyfriends ever. This is an under-appreciated BL, IMHO.
I liked this one a lot better than most. Strict professional rivals (chefs) in a very enemies to lovers BL - to the point where we mistrust the sincerity of the seme because he’s so very in it to win. I kinda like that, because kitchens are hotbeds of drama, and I like a seme with some sinister edge. But be warned, it means the whole romance comes off as a little disingenuous.
Another BL were the uke is just super tsundere and the seme kinda acts the part of an enemy in order to get what he wants (the uke). The leads in this drama crackle on screen together and I kinda adore them. Is there angst? Nope even what could have been angst (a gay idol) doesn’t materialize, it’s just cuties in a cafe confusing each other with cat & mouse games. No one has seen this BL, and you should really give it a try.
The main couple is enemies to lovers. But no one watches this for the main couple. Still if that’s what you want these two do it. They are even linguistic enemies. I really only like them because their language use is so bonkers, but the cast is solid and there’s a lot to enjoy about this bit of multi-couple insanity.
Some others to consider, not all of these might be strictly enemies to loves and some of them are not good, but they are all BL.
Capture Lover (China - Viki)
Mr. CEO is Falling in Love with Him (China - grey) = bromance-ish
Because of You (Taiwan - Viki) - trigger: kidnapping
TharnType (Thailand - Viki) - trigger: rape
Kiss Me Again the PeteKao cut (Tailand YouTube) - just messy
It’s great but are they really enemies?
Be Loved In House: I Do (Taiwan - Viki)
Light On Me (Taiwan Viki)
Addicted (China - Viki) - trigger: kidnapping
Not Me also started as enemies to lovers, but it's airing right now, so I can't rec it since I don't do that until something is completed.
Codicil: List is updated as of Mar 2022. Subject to change as new BLs appear, my preferences evolve, or I get arbitrary and whimsical.

Yes, I did it. I made it into a fucking essay.
Well, my pals, let me begin by explaining that I should be paid for this, because holy shit, this is a Herculean task. But it’s fine, I’m doing it because I love these books too much and it’s my duty! *standing up with the union flag in the background*
How is it going to work?
This very post will be my masterlist, where I’ll slowly be adding links to all the text posts as I write them. So like it, save it, reblog the shit out of it. Thank you.
Each post will discuss a specific moment in the books (as well as getting references from the movies and discussing what they left out), so it could be just one interaction or a whole point in their relationship, it will depend on my methods at the time.
Will you talk from a shipper perspective? Isn’t that biased?
Well, I’m glad you asked. I will, indeed, talk about how their interactions are further proof that DRARRY IS FUCKING CANON, but I promise to be rational. Furthermore, this is not the only aspect of their characters that I love, so I’ll include a lot of discussion about character development, redemption, coming-of-age and all that.
When will you be posting each post?
I can’t promise I’ll be able to keep a steady rhythm going, but I’m already writing the first one, about the moment they met at Madam Malkin’s. Please, don’t push me about it, because I do have a real job and all that rot.
So yeah, it’s on!
Philosopher’s Stone Chapter 1 - First Impressions
I never really noticed this before (mostly because I haven’t rewatched this episode) but the color here is crazy.
Emilie (or Kagami representing Emilie) is in a blue room with Paris being orange. And Amelie (or Felix representing Amelie) is in an orange room and London is blue.
Now upon first glance, you feel more the temperature of the colors, and storytelling wise, the colors would seem to convey Emelie in a cold environment, despite marrying for love, and Amelie in a warm enviroment, despite knowing it was arranged and he was abusive. It’s poetically different. And slightly strange, as their environments tells us a different story.
But then I thought about it a different way. Emelie was an adventurer. She wanted to travel and see the WORLD. Amelie gave up everything for her FAMILY and being the heiress.
My eyes are quite quickly drawn to things in light contrasting the darker colder blue. Bringing things into focus. Emelies focus lies outside of her home at the WORLD, at Paris, the city of love. As if she still longs for adventure and is trapped inside. And Amelie’s focus lies inside with her FAMILY that she gives everything for, no matter how hard it is or what abuse she may have to face.
The windows have a story as well. As Emelies window is smaller and thinner, with less space between the bars. We know Adrien’s deepest fear is being contained and locked away. Maybe he shared that with his mother. But Amelie’s (like Adrien’s) window is big. Giving a sense of freedom. Perhaps, that freedom was allotted, or just an illusion for more control.
I think this can give interesting depth into these characters, and subsequently, the children they made. And why they made the discussions they did, such as Amelie’s devotion to her son despite not fully understanding. Or perhaps, some secrets of the Agreste household, where things never seem to be what you think.
I've talked about the "Malfoy stood to one side, the sunlight gleaming on his white-blond head" bit before. But it's even funnier in context because Harry literally spends a paragraph describing the rest of the Slytherin team in very uncomplimentary ways - comparing a player to Dudley (who he hates), saying they look stupid, likening one player's forearms to "hairy hams" etc. And then he gets to Malfoy and drops that line. I mean, look at it:
It's literally like: "The rest of the team was ugly and stupid. Except for Draco Malfoy, who stood apart, haloed in a beam of sunlight that illuminated his beautiful gleaming blond hair." The way Harry's brain sees Draco versus everyone else is just...so telling.
And of course Draco's looking right back and making eye contact and smirking at Harry. Yeah he's doing it because he's smug about the "Weasley Is Our King" badges (which you know he only made because 1) he's insanely jealous that Harry chose Ron over him and 2) he knows going after Harry's friends is the best way to get a rise out of him) but also he and Harry just orbit each other so much. For the first 5 books Draco's whole life revolves around getting attention from Harry. They are both just constantly so aware of each other. Fic has nothing on canon.
So, I know how much everybody loves pretend-dating/pretend-marriage fics, but have you considered ‘pretend NOT to be dating/married’ AUs?
For example:
My friend is so determined to fix me up with somebody better than my string of casual coffee date/hookup partners that I didn’t have the heart to tell her, after she set us up for a blind date, that I actually met you six months ago
We’re both professors in the same department and it enhances your reputation with the students as a mysterious enigma and my reputation as a stone-cold terror if we pretend to hate each other, plus when we back each other up in departmental meetings everybody’s so surprised they give in right away
My parents thought I was working for an insurance company in New York when really I was joining the CIA so I just sort of never mentioned when I met you on an assassination-gone-wrong and now we’ve been married for five years and they still don’t know you exist, this has gotten wildly out of hand and you won’t stop laughing about it
All your coworkers know you’re married to a cop but now I’m undercover investigating a string of bank heists and it turns out that your only friend at your shitty new job is dating the head bank robber.
We’ve been communicating entirely by email/phone/carrier pigeon/paid messenger for the past year as we work to bring some peace and order to this troubled land, so when I walked into the negotiation room to sit down with the fearsome and terrible politician/businessperson/famed warrior that all my people are so afraid of, I didn’t really expect it to be you.
I didn’t think my parents could accept me dating somebody of your gender/race/religion/species, so we’ve been keeping it quiet, but now my mom can’t stop talking about her friend’s next-door neighbor and how perfect they’d be for me and you’ve got some nosy neighbor trying to set you up with their coworker’s kid and how do we tell them we’re engaged without making them think it’s because of their completely uninvited meddling?
You’ve got to pretend-date your best friend for a couple of weeks because reasons, and somehow that means we’re passing ourselves off as siblings to explain why we live together but we’ve started giving each other really filthy pre-sex looks behind everyone’s back like a game of chicken and pretty soon somebody is going to start to have serious concerns about our siblinghood.
Pretending-not-to-be-dating AUs: add yours today!
So it seems that not only did Harry shift blame away from Draco in book 6 in the immediate aftermath of Dumbledore's death (x) but apparently based on this bit from book 7 it looks like when Ministry officials arrived he didn't implicate Draco at all and instead only gave evidence about Snape's guilt despite the fact that he heard Draco confess to a number of crimes.
The lengths he goes to to shield Draco are actually wild. Guess all our headcanons where he testifies on Draco's behalf don't go far enough lol.
Fanon Harry: Yes Draco made terrible mistakes but he shouldn't go to Azkaban because if you look at the whole context it's clear he was coerced and didn't want to do it and subsequently changed his mind and even risked his life to save mine so he deserves a second chance.
Canon Harry: Idk what you all are talking about. I was on the Astronomy Tower the night Dumbledore died and I only saw Snape. And sure someone Imperiused Rosmerta and made her pass on poisoned mead and a cursed necklace but anyone could've done that. If we had a witness who overheard the perpetrator confess their guilt then we'd know. But. Sadly. We don't. :)
Draco sitting in his own trial listening to Harry's version of events:
I have compiled here a list of every single time Draco and Hermione interacted in canon, talked about one another, or could have conceivably interacted for all your Hogwarts-era fanfic needs!
If I left anything out, please don’t hesitate to comment or DM me! There are some really obvious ones I left out e.g. the fanfic classics: prefects’ bathroom, Astronomy Tower, Black Lake, Potions lesson…
I haven’t included page numbers because every edition is different and it would be confusing. This list is intended as pinpoint references for you to check out the scene in your own books, which is why they’re not super detailed.
Enjoy!

So, as Thomas Austruc just gave us a spoiler about Sparrow's apperance in the New York Special, I think It's time to introduce you to him and the rest of his team, that might apoear in the episode too!
------
Already described in my Quantic Kids post - you should check him out in there, but if you're too lazy, let me tell you. Of you love Chat Noir, you're gonna adore this guy too!
You think it's batman who inspired Mr. Damocles in making his superhero perosna? Wrong! Knight Owl is a brain of the operation in the New York Superhero team. She's a good guy, but treats both Sparrow and Chat as sidekicks, which... Kinda saddens me to be honest. Still a good and positove character though!
Inspired by Batman (duh)
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing" - These words of Majestia Alya quoted in the first part of the Origins Episode! Postitive, friendly and still powerfull star of the team, Majestia is blessed with the ability of flying and apparently is one of the most idolized superheroes in the whole Quantic Universe. According to Bunnyx she also has an evil sister, Ignoblia.
Isnpired by Wonder Woman
One of the most controversial superheroes I gues.
Victory is the current President of America - and apparently she revealed her secret identity just to win that position! She seea no good in villains - she has no seocnd though about their motives or origins and will detroy them without thinking if It's for the greater good.
Inspired by Capitan America
Apparently a nice guy who, just like pegasus, has the power to create portals
