Guys... i just watched s6e1 and i havent seen anyone talk about it but...
(season 6 spoilers under cut)
Like... yall heard what she said there:
Us.
She said "us". She didn't have to say that but she did--
Like... we all know she goes by different names (i.e. Lila, Cerise, Iris) but what if those are her alter's names? What if it's not just some disguise/fake identity, but instead actually her alters??
And also when she akumatized the villain there are multiple voices. (Multiple alters?) And one of them sounded male.
(sorry for bad quality)
Male alter?? Maybe??
And also... the way she akumatizes the people... its like she creates an inner world for them where they can converse, unlike Gabriel who just talks. Like... guys... đ
but idk this is just a theory lol

Well, well wellâŠ. look whoâs back from the dead (me, if you couldnât guess).
First of all, I want to apologise for not doing these for so long. Things got a little insane in my life. I havenât had time to blink these days, but here I am, because I love you all.
First of all: thank you and sorry it took me over a year to do this. And second of all: of course I can!Â
I think this is the post everyone was waiting for and I have no idea if Iâm ready for it. Wait. I know Iâm not.
But since Iâm either a masochist or already too numb from all the pain this ship causes me, Iâll try anyway. Fuck the police.
Iâll open this discussion with Harryâs last thought about Draco before the horrible tragedy that we call Sectumsempra:
Was it his imagination, or did Malfoy, like Tonks, look thinner? Certainly he looked paler; his skin still had that greyish tinge, probably because he so rarely saw daylight these days. But there was no air of smugness, or excitement, or superiority; none of the swagger that he had had on the Hogwarts Express, when he had boasted openly of the mission he had been given by Voldemort ⊠there could be only one conclusion, in Harryâs opinion: the mission, whatever it was, was going badly.
Ok, letâs start by the fact Harry says Draco has a âswaggerâ. Not my words!
And also: Yer a stupid wizard, Harry.
The boy is falling behind in classes, heâs sad and lonely, he looks sick, you know heâs terrified heâs not pleasing Voldemort. So instead of trying to help him, you go and use a spell for enemies on him. A boy genius.
I donât even know why Iâll point this out again, but itâs not normal to keep noticing those things about people you donât care about, ok? Itâs just not done. Youâre fooling yourself!
Meanwhile, Harry is getting desperate here. If itâs because Draco looks sick or because he couldnât find out what his mission was, weâll never know. But he knows heâs running out of time, and he has other personal problems to deal with, like the horcruxes and his huge crush *sarcasm* on Ginny.
And coincidentally his crush on her seems to grow, suddenly. Almost like itâs a distraction⊠hm. Sheâs exactly like the opposite of his true crush, I mean, obsession, I mean⊠Malfoy. She makes him forget, instead of making him feel like everything is falling apart; she doesnât have any problems besides boys and Quidditch, while Dracoâs buried in shit.
But still, he thinks about her far less than he thinks about *someone else*. Because a constant in this book is that nothing is more pressing than Draco Malfoy. Not the Prince himself, not the horcruxes, not girls or Quidditch. Nothing.
In the midst of all his preoccupations Harry had not forgotten his other ambition: finding out what Malfoy was up to in the Room of Requirement. He was still checking the Marauderâs Map and, as he was often unable to locate Malfoy on it, deduced that Malfoy was still spending plenty of time within the Room.
Oh yeah, in the midst of his problems, one being he didnât know if Ginny was worth upsetting Ron (and if thatâs not an indicative that sheâs not your one true love, Harry, I donât know what is), he still has plenty of time to obsess over Draco Malfoy.
Just healthy, really.
And now, because I didnât forget the real issue here, letâs read what brilliant thoughts Harry Potter has about the Sectumsempra:
âŠhe saw the Sectumsempra spell, captioned âFor Enemiesâ, that he had marked a few weeks previously. He had still not found out what it did, mainly because he did not want to test it around Hermione, but he was considering trying it out on McLaggen next time he came up behind him unawares.
Oh yeah! He was considering trying the Sectumsempra on Cormac! Thatâs how much of a genius he is. Harry, go study some latin before you use a fucking spell, will ya?
I mean, you would think that a boy who lost both parents to a curse and studied Charms for 6 years would think to at least check the etymology of a spell before using it on another human being. Or not, if youâre stupid as fuck!
Ok, so are you ready for the heartbreak? *takes deep breath*
Harry made his usual detour along the seventh-floor corridor, checking the Marauderâs Map as he went. For a moment he could not find Malfoy anywhere, and assumed he must indeed be inside the Room of Requirement again, but then he saw Malfoyâs tiny, labelled dot standing in a boysâ bathroom on the floor below, accompanied, not by Crabbe or Goyle, but by Moaning Myrtle.
First of all, Harry, why??? What kind of dodgy business could he be planning with the ghost of a muggleborn girl murdered by Voldemort? If anything, that shows heâs really not who you think he is.
It took me years after reading this book to realise Draco was confessing to a mudblood, and a victim of Voldemort. To me, thatâs a symbol of how his views were changing and how, in the end, he was a victim, not a villain. He was like her in a way.Â
Also, how fucking lonely he was. *sobbing*
God, that makes me so mad! This is the only time Harry really disappointed me and I think he fucking knows it. He disappointed himself too.
Draco Malfoy was standing with his back to the door, his hands clutching either side of the sink, his white-blond head bowed.
âDonât,â crooned Moaning Myrtleâs voice from one of the cubicles. âDonât ⊠tell me whatâs wrong⊠I can help you âŠâ
âNo one can help me,â said Malfoy. His whole body was shaking. âI canât do it ⊠I canât ⊠it wonât work ⊠and unless I do it soon ⊠he says heâll kill me âŠâ
And Harry realised, with a shock so huge it seemed to root him to the spot, that Malfoy was crying â actually crying â tears streaming down his pale face into the grimy basin.
To be honest, I canât choose whatâs worse about this whole thing. Draco confessing to a ghost, because he has no one (and not just any ghost, but the one everyone canât stand)? The fact he is crying because heâs so scared?
Or maybe the fact that Harry is just so stupid he canât use simple logic and understand that, whatever this is, Draco doesnât have a choice???
Ouch, my heart just broke real quick.
Malfoy gasped and gulped and then, with a great shudder, looked up into the cracked mirror and saw Harry staring at him over his shoulder.
Malfoy wheeled round, drawing his wand. Instinctively, Harry pulled out his own. Malfoyâs hex missed Harry by inches, shattering the lamp on the wall beside him; Harry threw himself sideways, thought Levicorpus! and flicked his wand, but Malfoy blocked the jinx and raised his wand for another â
(âŠ)
There was a loud bang and the bin behind Harry exploded; Harry attempted a Leg-Locker Curse that backfired off the wall behind Malfoyâs ear and smashed the cistern beneath Moaning Myrtle, who screamed loudly; water poured everywhere and Harry slipped over as Malfoy, his face contorted, cried, âCruciââ
I canât imagine how humiliated he feels, and how terrified he is, because not only was he crying because of Voldemort, but now Harry Potter knows too much. And Harry wonât help him, heâs sure of that.
You know what breaks me? They start do duel with childish hexes and curses, and it escalates so quickly, before any of them can take a moment to realise the seriousness of it.
And I wish Draco was going to say âCrucifix nail nipples!â, but we know he was not. But do you wanna know what I believe? If he had time to finish saying the word, nothing would happen, and Harry would be able to see heâs not evil. He obviously didnât mean the Crucio.Â
But before he has that chance, Harry goes and fucks up royally:
âSECTUMSEMPRA!â bellowed Harry from the floor, waving his wand wildly.
Blood spurted from Malfoyâs face and chest as though he had been slashed with an invisible sword. He staggered backwards and collapsed on to the waterlogged floor with a great splash, his wand falling from his limp right hand.
âNo ââ gasped Harry.
Slipping and staggering, Harry got to his feet and plunged towards Malfoy, whose face was now shining scarlet, his white hands scrabbling at his blood-soaked chest.
âNo â I didnât ââ
Harry did not know what he was saying; he fell to his knees beside Malfoy, who was shaking uncontrollably in a pool of his own blood.
To be honest, Harry never in a million years thought that would be a lethal curse. Never. He wanted to test it on McLaggen!
I canât stand this moment, I canât. I makes me tear up every time.
Because there is Dracoâs physical pain, which was probably horrible, then thereâs his emotional pain, because heâs at his most vulnerable moment and itâs such a betrayal! Harry is one of the good guys. He was afraid Voldemort would do something like that to him, not Harry. And that is so so so sad.
And thereâs Harryâs pain as well, because heâs fucking terrified. He knows Draco is dying, he knows he did something unthinkable, he knows he fucked up. Sometimes I canât believe Draco actually saved Harry after that, because this probably haunted him for a long time.
Just imagine seeing someone surrounded by their own blood, with deep cuts and shaking in pain. I donât think you can forget it that easily. Especially if you were responsible for it.
And you know what makes me angry? That Harry compartmentalises what heâs feeling so well that itâs like two different people: one when heâs alone, looking at what he did, and one once he finds his friends. Itâs maddening.
But thereâs a reason for that, and weâll get into it soon.
âHarry was still watching, horrified by what he had done, barely aware that he too was soaked in blood and water. Moaning Myrtle was still sobbing and wailing overhead. When Snape had performed his counter-curse for the third time, he half-lifted Malfoy into a standing position.
âYou need the hospital wing. There may be a certain amount of scarring, but if you take dittany immediately we might avoid even that ⊠come âŠâ
He supported Malfoy across the bathroom, turning at the door to say in a voice of cold fury, âAnd you, Potter ⊠you wait here for me.â
It did not occur to Harry for a second to disobey. He stood up slowly, shaking, and looked down at the wet floor. There were bloodstains floating like crimson flowers across its surface. He could not even find it in himself to tell Moaning Myrtle to be quiet, as she continued to wail and sob with increasingly evident enjoyment.â
I love the way JKR describes how Harry sees it, how vivid are the consequences of what happened. And I obviously love how Snape tells Draco it might scar, possibly more for Harry to hear than for him. Snape knows him well, he knows the guilt trip he could go into and is trying to push him into it. And Harry deserves it.
It doesnât happen, though, because immediately after, he goes to find his friends (and Ginny), who make him forget about his feelings.
But before we get into that, Iâd like to talk about the symbolism of Harry finding the room of hidden things when heâs trying to hide the book. Itâs the room heâs been trying to get in all year, and itâs almost like a physical representation of Draco at this point.
Itâs very interesting how he can suddenly get in, almost like the barriers are all down, almost like Draco stopped caring about hiding it from him. Almost like heâs so sad and hopeless he stops trying. Thinking about the wave of disappointment he must be feeling, itâs very possible that Dracoâs feelings were an influence in the door showing up for Harry.
Anyway, then Harry tells his friends about what just happened and they respond exactly like you would expect them too, almost to a stereotypical extreme.
âI wonât say âI told you soâ,â said Hermione, an hour later in the common room. âLeave it, Hermione,â said Ron angrily.â
Isnât it interesting how none of them we just horrified by the whole thing? How Hermione just focuses on the book, not on the teenager almost bleeding to death?
â(âŠ) Malfoy had already been visited in the hospital wing by Pansy Parkinson, who had lost no time in vilifying Harry far and wideâŠâ
I just love this sentence. First of all, with all her flaws, I love Pansy. Sheâs just the best friend Draco could have in that moment, because she takes no bullshit. And to be fair, Harry deserved to be vilified. And you can sense his opinions on what heâs done are changing because his friends just excuse what he did, especially Ginny:
âGive it a rest, Hermione!â said Ginny, and Harry was so amazed, so grateful, he looked up. âBy the sound of it Malfoy was trying to use an Unforgivable Curse, you should be glad Harry had something good up his sleeve!â
I hated her so much in that moment. What Harry did itâs inexcusable, and he knows it. So it hurts my eyes to see her say something so dismissive. Draco would not be able to actually Crucio him and, deep down, Harry knows it. He doesnât even try to convince himself heâs faultless, that it was self-defense.
Ok, so letâs expand on Ginnyâs rare presence being right in this chapter.
Itâs no coincidence this is the same chapter where Harry kisses Ginny for the first time. Remember what I mentioned in the beginning of this post? The whole of Half-Blood Prince is built using a parallel between Harryâs relationship with Draco and his relationship with Ginny to move the plot in the right direction.
âHermione and Ginny, who had always got on together very well, were now sitting with their arms folded, glaring in opposite directions. Ron looked nervously at Harry, then snatched up a book at random and hid behind it. Harry, however, though he knew he little deserved it, felt unbelievably cheerful all of a sudden, even though none of them spoke again for the rest of the evening.â
I mean, come on. He literally buries his guilt in giddiness because Ginny is defending him. Defending him against something he knows is his fault. Sheâs helping him forget Malfoy. Again.
And this chapter is so cleverly written it splits his feelings with the places and situations heâs in: when heâs with Snape, in the dungeons, he can feel the guilt as a physical presence. Snape makes sure he understands that the detention is about making him feel guilty:
âMr Filch has been looking for someone to clear out these old files,â said Snape softly. âThey are the records of other Hogwarts wrongdoers and their punishments. Where the ink has grown faint, or the cards have suffered damage from mice, we would like you to copy out the crimes and punishments afresh and, making sure that they are in alphabetical order, replace them in the boxes. You will not use magic.â
When he thinks about Gryffindor and Ginny, he forgets about any negative thing happening with him:Â
âAnd while he copied out all their various offences and punishments, he wondered what was going on outside, where the match would have just started ⊠Ginny playing Seeker against Cho âŠâ
To be honest, that is one of the things that always bothered me with this ship being canon. Ginny never sees the Harry we see, she always sees someone whoâs always right, someone whoâs the hero. And Harry only sees Ginny as a ladder to a life he wants so desperately. A life with no complications, with a family, with giddiness and lightness. He holds onto her because she makes him forget all the horrible things he has gone through, and thatâs one reason why he never tells her anything: he wants her in a bell jar, untouched by his traumas.
And we all know thatâs not who he really is. The final proof is how this chapter ends:
Harry looked around; there was Ginny running towards him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her.
(âŠ)
The creature in his chest roaring in triumph, Harry grinned down at Ginny and gestured wordlessly out of the portrait hole. A long walk in the grounds seemed indicated, during which â if they had time â they might discuss the match.â
This moment is like a completely different book. Itâs a fantasy. Something Harry knew couldnât last. It was escapism.
This chapter is also the last before Malfoy finally figures out how to fix the cabinet and Harry goes with Dumbledore to retrieve the horcrux. Itâs almost like a tragic farewell to the relationship the two of them had prior to thing getting fucking serious. It all changes after that.
The Sectumsempra in itself changes everything. Harry, someone who we know as heroic and honourable, commits an act that shifts what we know about him, and at the same time Draco, who up until then we see as a bidimensional character, comes alive and gets layers on top of layers. Itâs the only possible introduction to what happens in Deathly Hallows. Tragic and horrible, but beautiful to watch.
I mean, I could go on and on. If I had the time, I would probably debate every single sentence in this book that, to me, is the most symbolic and crucial of them all.
But I do have a job, so this will do. Hope you guys enjoyed it!
Tried to befriend him in Madam Malkinâs even though he didnât know who he was at the time, and Harry probably looked a bit raggedy
Tried to befriend him again on the train once he realized who he was
Was so upset that Harry didnt take his hand when they were 11 that he spent most of the next 5 years holding a grudge
Constantly talked about Harry to his friends
Even when he didnât know Harry was listening, so itâs not like he was just doing it to annoy him
Spent the entire summer between first and second year talking about Harry Potter, to the point that his father actually lost his temper with him because he was so sick of hearing about Harry Potter all the time
Knew a startling amount about Harry despite the fact that they are 1) in different Houses and 2) decidedly not friends
Remember when Rita Skeeter recruited him as a source about Harry Potter and he was actually pretty good at it because he knew so much about Harryâs life?
Remember when everyone thought Harry must be the Heir of Slytherin but Draco knew that couldnât be the truth because he instantly understood Harry wouldnât do that?
Started avoiding Harry as soon as he (albeit unwillingly) became a Death Eater, even though then he shouldâve wanted to go after Harry more than ever
Failed to seriously harm Harry or deliver him to Voldemort when he had him paralyzed, defenseless, and completely at his mercy on the train at the beginning of 6th year, even though killing or capturing Harry Potter would certainly have saved him and his family from Voldemortâs wrath, and probably would have ensured they received a rich reward beside.Â
Refused to identify Harry at Malfoy Manor, thus buying him enough time to escape, even though he knew that he was risking certain torture and quite possibly death for both himself and his family
He had Voldemort living in his house. He knew the price he was paying and he knew how valuable delivering Harry Potter could be for him and his family. And his still chose not to.
And he paid the price. Harry could feel Voldemortâs wrath and weeks later at the Battle of Hogwarts Lucius still bore visible marks from what Voldemort did despite the healing powers of magic in that world
Could not harm Harry in the Room of Requirement even though taking him in was probably the last chance he had for salvation for him and his family
Turned his back on the beliefs he had been raised with as soon as he was free to
Yeah. Seems legit.Â
So it seems that not only did Harry shift blame away from Draco in book 6 in the immediate aftermath of Dumbledore's death (x) but apparently based on this bit from book 7 it looks like when Ministry officials arrived he didn't implicate Draco at all and instead only gave evidence about Snape's guilt despite the fact that he heard Draco confess to a number of crimes.
The lengths he goes to to shield Draco are actually wild. Guess all our headcanons where he testifies on Draco's behalf don't go far enough lol.
Fanon Harry: Yes Draco made terrible mistakes but he shouldn't go to Azkaban because if you look at the whole context it's clear he was coerced and didn't want to do it and subsequently changed his mind and even risked his life to save mine so he deserves a second chance.
Canon Harry: Idk what you all are talking about. I was on the Astronomy Tower the night Dumbledore died and I only saw Snape. And sure someone Imperiused Rosmerta and made her pass on poisoned mead and a cursed necklace but anyone could've done that. If we had a witness who overheard the perpetrator confess their guilt then we'd know. But. Sadly. We don't. :)
Draco sitting in his own trial listening to Harry's version of events:
Who translatedâŠ? This episode?Â
In the French version, Adrien says to Kagami, âI hope the film will live up to your expectations,âÂ
In the English version, Adrien says to Kagami, âWell, Iâm more of a dog personâÂ
iâm not even kidding, I went on a word search rampage, motivated by an initially serious thought train about how JK Rowling depicts & portrays conventional attractiveness vs. non-attractiveness (inspired by me finally reading the Robert Galbraith books) and how it contributes to her characterizations. It has resulted in this:
The only characters ever outright called âhandsomeâ by either the narration or another character, in the order of âhandsomeâ appearance:
Gilderoy Lockhart: Actually indirectly called handsome: introduced as âvery good-lookingâ; handsomeness only mentioned in that âhe didnât look remotely handsome anymoreâ and Ron going â*cough*Lockhart*â when accusing Hermione of only liking people (aka Cedric) for handsomenessâ sake.Â
Tom Riddle. Not introduced as handsome by 12-year-old Harry (16-year old Harry makes up for it by calling young Tom Riddle handsome EVERY time he is mentioned), just as a boy âmuch tallerâ than Harry with the same jet black hair. Dumbledore makes the handsome explicit* when at the end of CoS he refers to how most people failed to connect Voldemort to the âclever, handsome boyâ Riddle had been.
Sirius Black: Pre-Azkaban, in the wedding picture: âhandsome, full of laughterâ; his âhandsome, laughing face.â In the flashback, after weâre reminded heâs very good-looking he sits around looking: haughty and bored âbut handsomely soâ. Our last look at him alive is of his âwasted, once-handsome faceâ (this is where I cry); in the picture on his wall we see Sirius looking âcarelessly handsome ⊠slightly arrogantâ, and of course break-our-hearts-one-last-time-Resurrection-Stone Sirius looks âtall and handsomeâ with a grin on his face and even walks handsome, really: âloped with an easy grace.âÂ
Cedric Diggory: uh, Cedric may actually be the best-looking, according to the text. Â
Cedric alone gets adverbs of degree; he is âextremely handsomeâ and âexceptionally handsomeâ, thank you, fourteen-year-old Harry Potter. Cedric also gets called pretty boy at least twice, once by Seamus Finnegan, and once by a jealous Harry in his thoughts. Yet he is one of the few members of this club who shows no signs of a) evil b) vanity or c) arrogance. Cedric is downright lovely; poor Cedric.
Firenze: heâs confirmed as the âhandsome centaurâ in HBP, but we assumed as much before from Parvati & Lavender, whose giggles are probably the best non-explicit* barometer of male handsomeness in-text.
Bill Weasley: 14-year-old Harry actually calls long-haired Bill âcoolâ, not handsome. But we gather more information from Fleurâs eyeing him up: aka by âcoolâ, Harry, I think you meant âhotâ, or possibly, since this is UK-set, âfitâ. Hot/fit, being of course a distinctive category of literary attractiveness, it can, but does not always, crossover with âhandsomeâ.Â
Mrs. Weasley (painfully) confirms Billâs handsomeness after his face is ruined: âvery handsome little b-boyâ, âalways very handsomeâ. Again, the handsome is there to make us sad- but not too sad this time, since itâs a glorious set-up for Fleurâs epic good-looking-enough-for-the-both-of-us moment of true <3. Â
Tom Riddle Sr. - the âhandsomeâ Muggle, whose son looks like his âhandsome father in miniatureâ; his handsomeness is both a huge plot point in Meropeâs story and further re-emphasis of T.R. Jr.âs own looks.
Gellert Grindelwald - yes, the other Dark Wizard was also a card-carrying member of the handsome club. We first get him stealing the Elder Wand with âdelight upon his handsome faceâ; later as Dumbledoreâs âhandsome companion,â âmerry-facedâ and âsmiling lazilyâ in his picture. You wouldnât remember it from the Very Serious version of the photograph used in the movies, but itâs also noted in the photograph Dumbledore and handsome friend Grindelwald are both âroaring with laughterâ.Â
âŠwhich, interesting: the association of handsome + laughter is explicitly connected, repeatedly, with only one other character: Sirius Black.Â
-and not to go all psychoanalytic literary criticism, but THAT adds an angle to Dumbledoreâs distrust of Sirius (offering to be the Pottersâ Secret Keeper instead, buying into Pettigrewâs frame job) and how Dumbledore & Sirius have little rapport, especially compared to Dumbledore & anyone else from Siriusâ generation.Â
Am I making the ridiculous statement that Dumbledore didnât like Sirius because he was handsome? âŠactually, sort of, yes.
Keeping in mind that Sirius and James are pretty confirmed to have gone around the school hexing people, that Grindelwald was kicked out of Durmstrange for much-more-extreme ânear fatalâ attacks on other students, and that Sirius did in fact set a ânear fatalâ situation up by telling Snape about the tunnel as a prankâŠÂ
I think thereâs a reasonable argument that Dumbledore looked at a clever, handsome boy, and thought of other clever handsome boys heâd known and how theyâd turned out-  particularly the one who was briefly part of his own laughing double act - and did not trust Sirius Black. And so offered to be the Pottersâ Secret Keeper instead. And bought into Pettigrewâs frame job. And even later (in one of Dumbledoreâs many What the Hell, Hero moments) letting that whole Sirius-confined-at-Grimmauld-Place situation build, and critiquing his character ten minutes after heâs dead. Sirius is one of the few characters in the series who Dumbledore never seems to give a fair shake, even while able to analyze him to a TâŠÂ
But I digress, so back to the handsomeness:
 runners-up:
11-year-old Dudley Dursley- looking v. âhandsome and grown-upâ in his uniform, but since it is Aunt Petunia saying so, and Harry is choking on laughter, HEAPS of salt from the narrative here.Â
Ron Weasley, assured he is âvery handsomeâ by, of all people, Slughorn. Grain of salt for love-potion circumstances, but giggling sixth-years suggest it is not much of an exaggeration. Â
Regulus Black is ârather less handsomeâ than Sirius. While not 100% confirming handsomeness, given how often it comes up regarding Sirius, a remaining degree of reasonable handsomeness is implied.
handsome womanâs club:Â
Madame Maxime! at least three âhandsomesâ to her nameÂ
other âhandsomeâ things: Fawkes except on Burning Day, silver platters, roaring fires, leather-covered books, tawny owls, a Christmas tree, and the face of the  ânoble-lookingâ from a distance but up-close vacant wizard of the Fountain of Magical Brethren, etc
*any other male charactersâ handsomeness is either implicit, fanon, or movie-driven assumptions. Thereâs plenty of strong implicit arguments to be made, though, through the lovely showing-not-telling of attractiveness. But no one else is explicitly âhandsomeâ, unless I missed one, in which case, do tell.
generally, though, if you are handsome in a Harry Potter novel, you are either evil or something terrible is going to happen to you. But handsomely so!
Well, let's start with origins, this chapter is the most important of all because it begins the entire story and the first pieces of the puzzle, we have to be attentive to everything because THERE ARE CLUES IN EVERYTHING ok let's get to it.
The chapter already starts strong, a narrator tells us about the miraculous, what they are and that they were used to help humanity and here this sequence says a lot.
HERE ARE 2 IMPORTANT POINTS TO RESOLVE.
1 Who created the miraculous? According to the New York special comics, "the Miraculous were created and manufactured by a magician", (THIS ACCORDING TO THE CONVERSATION WITH MARINETTE), so I ask who of all the Miraculous characters gets the nickname of magician? aha Felix, MOTE THAT COMES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN "FELIX" IN T3, BUT THIS IS NOT THE ONLY INTERESTING THING, IF WE ANALYZE THE NAME of Master FU, it also begins with "F" like Felix, meaning that through Fu They tell us about Félix (in the same way that through Chloe we are sometimes told about Kagami and Zoé about Marinette as a teenager) and, to confirm this, in the chapter PRINCESS FRAGRANCE, WHEN SHE HEALS TIKKI, SHE CALLS HIM A WIZARD, SO IT'S CLEAR.
-----FU IS THE WIZARD=FELIX IS THE WIZARD=FU IS FELIX --------
2 the voice of the narrator, THE VOICE of the narrator is nooro, and this is important, if we think about it, it takes us to Gabriel and therefore to Adrien, who will be the future villain, but it also takes us to Adrien Felix wears it because Adrien was born from Felix and from Adrien, the current Felix that we all know was born, So in some way it gives us to understand that this story is being told? read? BY FELIX.
point 1 and 2, may be giving us 2 clues, on the one hand, THAT IN THE SAME WAY THAT Marinette IS A LEADER AND GUARDIAN, FELIX IS ALSO GOING TO BE, BUT WITH A DIFFERENT APPROACH, LET'S REMEMBER THAT HE IS YANG AND SHE IS YING THEY WILL BE LEADERS, TWO LEADERS AND EACH ONE WILL DO IT IN A DIFFERENT WAY.
AND THE OTHER, which IS the theory of MARINETTE'S DIARY.
"MARINETTE'S DIARY THEORY, is a very popular theory that tells us that since she is going to lose her memory, and is currently writing a diary, the series itself is the memoir of Marinette's diary that Adrien would be reading to her. the adult Marinette so that she would remember, that is why the series is titled The Adventures of Ladybug, like a story or a story."
but ONE DOUBT IS IT FELIX OR ADRIEN WHO READS THIS DIARY?, Félix, HOW DO WE KNOW?
-ADRIEN CAN'T BE THEN, Adrien is going to be a villain, So it wouldn't make sense for it to be him.
-WE HAVE THE CLUE ABOVE, that it was a "wizard who created the miraculous", the wizard is Félix, so if he created the miraculous, he created this universe, if we are reading Marinette's memories, that has to be Félix , because with it the creation of these jewels begins, logically including the ladybug earrings.
-The voice is somehow related to someone close to Felix (POINT 2)
-If we don't say well, the insect that nooro represents is a butterfly, a mixture of a winged being and an insect, this speaks a little about the fusion of ARGOS WHICH IS A BIRD AND LADYBUG AN INSECT, therefore this leads us yes or yes to Felix, what's more, if we think about it, nooro is purple, how is purple formed? mixed RED AND BLUE, COLORS OF ARGOS AND LADYBUG
-And finally, the topic of reading is something that suits Felix more than Adrien, since he loves to read.
So they may be giving us a very subtle clue (remember that it is the beginning of the series) that yes, this series is a story told by Félix himself based on what he experienced and Marinette's diary. (THIS IS FELINETTE PER 1000)
The next image that appears is several ancient characters carrying miraculous and using their powers, this is important because here it already tells us a little about the series.
"Miraculous are magical jewels that grant powers and must be used for the good of humanity"
and then in those lines these two images appear
Well, these images already tell us what kind of attitude those chosen should have, first of all they must be brave and protective (something that can be applied to FELIX and MARINETTE, since they are more the ones who protect than the protected) but their ways are very different In the 1st image we see how instead of attacking the enemy, he directly stops him, while in the 2nd he opts for action and combat, this images is telling us about ladybug and chatnoir in action AND MARINETTE AND FELIX, they are those chosen to wear these miraculous because they have a good system of values, therefore, THE AUTHENTIC PROTAGONISTS OF THIS SERIES, that is why this chapter is titled ladybug and chatnoir, because with this sequence, they are saying why, who and what attitudes they should have these 2 boys to carry such great power, but this would also conform to what we said above, they are role models and leaders.
1 image we are told about ladybug, we see that the wearer has the shape of a fawn or deer, deer live in forests where there is a lot of vegetation, and they feed on it, the earth with which of our four protagonists is it connected? with Marinette, she loves vegetation, flowers, this has to do with life, the flowering of it, but we also know how protective and loving she is, and we know that before entering into conflict in any battle she prefers to think and analyze.
The animal that stops is an ox, Who is an ox?
That's Ivan, he is the bearer of the ox that represents the concept of "action" which brings us to Adrien, why? To begin with, through IvĂĄn we are told about Adrien, first of all because he likes rock, who else likes rock? Jagged Stone, who also dresses like one, and who is the next of the 4 male protagonists? ?, Adrien, but also, notice that this chapter begins the ivan-mylene shipâŠthis couple starts it all, what is the first ship we see here?, ADRINETTE then, what is this scene telling us? that in the future there is going to be a fight between these two, it is predicting Adrien's villainy, Adrien is not fit to be a superhero, he is too impulsive and brute, and with that attitude he hurts others, with this we confirm what we said In the song of the series, it is not destiny that he is a superhero, and as we progress in the series, you will see how they are becoming clearer, since here we are only going at the beginning.
2 image tells us about chat noir and Felix, through Hercules.
(We know that it is HERCULES because of how he is dressed, this mural is a reference to the myth of Hercules in which he kills the Nemean lion, and tears off its skin, then he puts it on as clothing and a shield, but in this universe Hercules obtains the power through the miraculous of the lion)
We see how he is protecting the Greek women, so the first thing we have to do is notice that this bearer carries the miraculous of the lion, and the lion is a feline, just like the cat, but the difference is that the lions They are bigger and stronger, and we know that clearly Felix is stronger than Adrien because he was created for that, but also, lions are related to the sun and light, an element that we will see is associated with Felix, in fact. , lions live in Africa, precisely a desert place with a lot of sun, so this is also telling us about the counterpart of the ying, the yang, which is the active part, the light, the sun, the action⊠thus referring to chatnoir, for me it is clear, FĂLIX IS CHATNOIR
but also the fact that this miraculous is the lion's is confirmed in the Feast chapter, in which we are precisely told about Master Fu's past, how what happened to him happened to him, so this information takes us to fu and therefore to FĂ©lix, Fu used the peacock miraculous, LIKE FELIX, the sentiser that I believe is called feast, begins with"F" just like FĂ©lix, but also, in this chapter we see how the senti that is created, It is indigo blue, and the bearer of all of them has this color, aha Argos, that is, Felix, so here we are talking about Felix with the miraculous of the cat, who also, if you notice, carries a spear like the staff of chatnoir, we see how instead of stopping him, he is attacking unlike ladybug, demonstrating his yang energy, one thinks, the other attacks, one is active, the other passiveâŠetcâŠ
Now we look at who is trying to kill, this creature is a fusion of a lion, EAGLE OR BIRD AND A BEING CALLED MEDUSA, HE CARRIES WITH HIM A TRIDENT, LIKE THAT OF NEPTUNE. This could be telling us that in the future Felix is going to have to face his cousin, and the Tsurugi, it makes sense since Felix joins Ladybug, and Adrien will be a villain, so let's break this down
-LION-TIGER: referring to that feline part that the creature has, if he is partly feline, and Hercules carries a lion with him, this is a FELINE VS FELINE, cat against cat, it would be indicating to us that when Adrien becomes a villain , the cat's miraculous is going to be used for evil purposes, another option is that he akumatizes in Chatblanc and destroys everything and Felix has to stop him, so whatever this may be, it would be giving us the clue to something like that.
-EAGLE: this can refer to the fact that they are clearly telling us in the face, on the one hand, that Adrien is a sentiser, since the wings are related to the feathers and the feathers to the sentisers, but this can also indicate to us that in a future, Duusu's miraculous is going to fall into Adrien's hands, this could make him realize the truth, and want to have it for fear of disappearing just like Felix. SO WE WOULD HAVE a confrontation between Adrien as a peacock and Felix as a chatnoir.
-MEDUSA-if we look closely at the creature's face, we see that it has one similar to a jellyfish, I will tell you who it is since it is important
MEDUSA IS A WOMAN WITH HAIR MADE UP OF SNAKES WHOSE POWER IS TO TURN EVERYONE WHO LOOKS AT HER INTO STONE, PERSEUS DEFEATED HER USING HIS OWN REFLECTION.
This could be referring to Kagami, since she is called the ice queen, and the queen of that story could freeze people, that is, petrify them like a jellyfish, but also, guess what state the senti feast was in, aha HE WAS PETRIFIED, IN STONE!! and who frees him?, who wakes up this sentiser, Mayura, HOW DOES MAYURA'S NAME BEGIN?, with "M" as Marinette, this could be telling us that at some point in the series Kagami and Félix are going to face each other I don't know if Kagami will be akumatized or not, but the point is that this battle Felix will end up seriously injured, or frozen or petrified, his life will be at risk, but Marinette will save him, this clue will be confirmed. later in the series.
So basically Felix as chatnoir will have to face Kagami and Adrien, who are the villains.
"Two of this miraculous are more powerful than the rest"
WE ARE GOING TO GO IN PARTS
This is telling us how powerful our heroes are and therefore more leadership and responsibility, so in a group of many carriers, they COMMAND AND LEAD, THEY MAKE SURE THAT THINGS DO NOT GET OUT OF CONTROL, CONFIRMING US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOVE, ONLY THIS IS MORE FOCUSED NOT SO MUCH ON THE WEARER THEMSELVES, BUT ON THE HERO. They are a great team, they are strong when they work together, they are both a unit, yin and yang
LET'S SEE THE TWO IMAGES
1 image, HE TALKS CLEARLY ABOUT LADYBUG AND ARGOS AS A TEAM, how is that, well let's first notice that the young woman is clearly Ladybug because of the costume, but the detail is that she is riding a horse, and then I ask what she is wearing relate the horse, aha with MAX and what letter does MAX end with, like Félix, MAX WHEN HE TRANSFORMS IS CALLED PEGASUS, A FUSION OF BIRD WITH HORSE, who is the only male character who rides a horse and looks like a bird? , aha felix/Argos
so this can be interpreted as that in some way Felix is ââgoing to guide Ladybug, that is, he is going to be a great help, a true companion, what we already said in the song and the intro, this confirms it for us.
We see that he is trying to kill a dragon, and here the clue is clear, we have to look at what type of dragon that is, IT IS A EUROPEAN DRAGON, NOT CHINESE, OR JAPANESE, AND I EMPHASIZE THIS BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE THINK IT IS THE SAME TYPE AND NO, THEY ARE VERY DIFFERENT PHYSICALLY
AND THIS IS WHERE THEY GIVE US THE CLUE, WHERE HAVE WE SEEN THIS TYPE OF DRAGON?
- Well we will see it in this season 1 in the akumatization of Jagged stones, When he becomes GUITAR VILLAIN RIDES ON A DRAGON OF THIS TYPE
- We see it in Crocoduel, where Captain Hardrock faces off, through Anarka they tell us about adult Marinette, so this last piece of information would confirm the confrontation.
-If you look at Jagged's name, it has 2 "G", Gabriel's initial is "G", 2 G, 2 GABRIEL, 2 MONARCHS, FATHER AND SON.
- we see him in Marinette's nightmare at the end of season 5 where it turns out to actually be Gabriel, so with THIS he is no longer saying that it means that we see him in the mural, This is Adrien villain, LADYBUG AND FELIX ARE GOING TO FIGHT AGAINST ADRIEN, Through Jagged Stone they tell us about Adrien, the doubt remains whether he is akumatized or is directly a villain with the butterfly miraculous, but I tell you, it is the 2nd option, since the last appearance of this type of dragon It is effectively how Gabriel and Gabriel is a monarch apart from the "2 G" track, so it is clear, MONARCH IS ADRIEN
2 image, (this one is more complicated so if you see something that I don't, leave it in the comments, the idea is that we all do it together)
Felix is ââgoing to save Marinette from her akumatization, how is that? Let me explain, to begin with we see that the woman is Japanese, and is wearing an eagle mask, and that she also has the powers of the same, she looks like a "human bird"
The only Japanese woman is Kagami, if we think of Kagami it automatically takes us to Felix.
We see that both eagle, argos and sparrow are "human birds"
But also, we see that his mask is very similar to that of Jess from New York when he transforms into an eagle, if we analyze the power of that miraculous, what does he use in his favor?, feathers, and who else uses feathers? , Argos, that is, FĂ©lix, if or if Argos or FĂ©lix is âârepresented through that woman.
Now we are going to look at the creature, it is a kind of winged monster, this can tell us that it will have the ability to fly when it is akumatized, but do you know where the biggest clue is? That this monster is marine, Aha, it comes out of the sea, but not only that we see how the whole sea is stirred up.
What name is connected with the sea and sea creatures?, MARINETTE, marinette descends the name "Marina" which descends in turn from the sea and ocean, the ocean is in turmoil, marinette is in turmoil, marinette's emotions are chaos and When there is chaos that occurs, it clearly becomes akumatized.
If we return again to the character of Jess as an eagle, what did she say to contain the villains who were out of control? He said "calm down", since when Techno was akumatized, he released all of their freedoms and they had New York destroyed with his powers, in the same way Argos is going to try to calm Marinette down so that she deakumatizes....Aguila contains the villains, through eagle they tell us about Argos, Argos is going to contain MARINETTE, to calm her down when she gets out of control, to me it is clear this mural is Argos trying to help akumatized Marinette, the mural is Japanese therefore it tells us that Kagami She is going to be behind this, she will be the one who causes Marinette's akumatization (we will see this later, the show gives clues to that, don't worry)
[now, another possibility is that the akumatized person is also Argos, and I say this because in one of the photos in the book we see, the former bearer of the eagle, with a hairstyle similar to Marinette (more specifically when she the mouse miraculous) but this doesn't make sense to me, since I don't see Felix akumatized, because he has proven to be resistant, however, Marinette, we have already seen how he has been on the verge of being akumatized twice, so for my Marinette has more possibilities.]
"Ladybug's earrings that possess the power of creation and Chatnoir's ring that possesses the power of destruction.
Here we have a clear presentation of the most important miraculouses and what they are for, clear and simple, the ladybug earrings create anything while the chatnoir ring destroys anything.
Now, one says, of course this is very obvious even if you see the chapters in disorder and you don't see this one, but the thing is not that, if they are presenting them to you, not only because of what they represent but because of their shape and color.
I have said in previous posts that they rely on this many times to give clues about what is going to happen, right? Here is a clear example since it is the beginning, so based on that we are going to analyze this entire sequence.
LET'S START WITH WHAT THEY REPRESENT.
To begin, we have to observe the base on which the miraculouses are located, there are several floors in the box and these are in the first and in the center of the entire box, which confirms not only that they are the most powerful. If not, they rule, THESE MIRACULOUS MOVE EVERYTHING, SINCE THEY MOVE BOTH LIFE AND DEATH, so when these bearers are chosen, they must fulfill this role and the responsibility it implies.
The basis on which they are represented are two concepts of Taoism, which are used to represent or refer to the two opposite and complementary, but interconnected, fundamental forces that are found in all things; and that this philosophy attributes to everything that exists.
yin and yang, life and death, darkness and light, etc. all of them are equal but different, they are independent but in need of each other, they complement each other and together form harmony, a perfect balance. Now knowing this, which is which? , clearly ladybug is yin, it is CREATION and chatnoir is yang, IT IS DESTRUCTION and with them their respective jewels, kwamis and POWERS AND EVERYTHING THEY REPRESENT.
Now let's focus on the SHAPE AND COLORS. -COLORS
Creation earrings: the colors that stand out on the base are black and red, these coincide with the colors of the earrings, which are also red and black, which tells us that, these are the colors of ladybug and also about Marinette and therefore we will see it in everything related to her, clothing, accessories, objects, etc...
Ring of Destruction: the colors of the base are white and gray and black, while unlike Ladybug's, the base does not completely match the jewel, it is black, gray and neon green, this tells us that These are the colors of Chatnoir, Felix and Adrien, that's why there is so much variety, unlike Ladybug, because there are 2 candidates, we will see these colors in everything related to them, clothing, accessories, objects, etc...
-SHAPES AND NUMEROLOGY
-the earrings: they are shaped like a circle with polka dot prints, everything is round, so the polka dot prints are representative of ladybug and marinette (which we can see in her clothes, whatever press she wears) we will see this print in everything related to her, clothes, accessories, objects etc...
Now if we look at the number of polka dots, there are a total of 10, 5 in each earring, giving us to understand that 5 is an important number, if we join the points together we obtain a square, a square has 4 sides, and 4 points, 4 is the number of Marinette and Ladybug, well remember that the 4 comes after the 3, and the 3 is Kagami, which represents the arts classroom, who is similar to Kagami and is Asian, Marinette, so when we see the 4 it also refers to her.
The numbers 10,5,4, 8 and the circles are from Ladybug and Marinette and therefore we will see them in various parts of the series, both in conversations, places, etc...
-The ring: okay, the ring is more complex, to begin with it is shaped like a circle whether you look at it from the side or from the front. but we are interested in the front. We see that it is a black circle with a cat's footprint in the center, neon green, this circle is surrounded by some kind of spikes, 4 to be more exact.
Let's start with the cat's footprint, if we add the number of figures, we have 5, just like the earrings, which have 5 polka dots, this on the one hand is telling us that the number 5 is as important as in the jewel next to it, They are the same, there is a coherence and a harmony...that is why those who wear the ring must have similar features to the one who wears said earrings...of course it is more complex because there are 2 candidates, both have similarities with Marinette but not entirely .
Now the footprint is divided into 2 parts, on one side 4 points at the top, and on the other the base that is more different from the ones above, the 4 represents Marinette and therefore in theory it should resettle Adrien, but also Felix because well As we have said, Adrien tells us about Felix, one was born from the other, so when this number is presented we will have to look for other elements that relate it to know which of the two it refers to, since it represents the two. 2.
If we look at the figure below, it looks like a triangle, triangles have 3 points and 3 sides, 3 and 3, 33 arts classroom, kagami, and who does Kagami connect with? with Felix so this number is representative of Felix, also notice that part of the footprint is a bit amorphous, asymmetrical? With whom does he connect the asymmetric figures?, ahaha with Felix, so we have that the triangles asymmetric figures can be connected with him and this will be seen in all the elements, objects, clothes, etc.,...
Now if we look at the peaks that are in the circle and put them together, what do we get? It's a square, just like Ladybug's earrings, but here we see spikes. What shape do the spikes have? Rhombuses, right? So then the simple and basic RHOMBUS AND square would be a representation of Felix, more than Adrien, remember one thing, Felix plays chess, which figures on the board form chess, squares. but everything would be to see the sequence in which this happens, many times they do that in the series.
Therefore the numbers 4 and 3 and 33 are from Felix Chatnoir and Adrien.
So once we have all this analyzed, this would be the scheme to play, and the first clues, through this pattern of colors and numbers, is what the series will start with. HERE YOU HAVE THE SCHEME, KEEP IT IN MIND BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO ALWAYS USE IT AS A REFERENCE AND THUS FIND OUT WHO THEY REFER TO AND WHAT THEY WANT TO TELL US.
(If not, I assure you that it is a mess, since although I have explained it with geometry, and such can be confusing) keep in mind that it WILL be updated AS WE PROGRESS IN THE ANALYZES, now we are at the beginning and we cannot add further.
"Whoever controls both jewels will obtain absolute power."
Well, we are shown this image that would be a representation of what total power will look like when you use both miraculouses, although it may seem like nothing, this image tells us a lot.
The clues are in the background of this mystical man, look what color he is, he is purple, the color of MONARCH, but he also has 6 peaks that come out of said circle, this for me is a very subtle clue that surely the person Whoever Adrien becomes a villain is Kagami, something is going to happen to her, we still don't know what, but something is going to happen to her, I feel like the same story of Gabriel with Emilie is going to be repeated, but this time with Adrien and Kagami .
Let's analyze it, purple is clearly Hawmoth's color but also representative of Adrien (according to the scheme) so it is confirming more of the same that he is going to be a villain, now let's notice that there are 6 peaks, right? If we divide 6 by 2 we have 3 and 3, that is, 33 and therefore the arts classroom, kagami, so the reason will be related to kagami.
Ok let's leave it here, since I want to take it and analyze it in order, in the next post we will see our protagonists and the villains of this wonderful story.
Thank you very much for your support and love, see you.
How Gabriel Agreste Destroyed Adrien's Life: A 3 a.m. Analysis
From: âI enrolled in a school without my father's permission, I ran away from home to attend the first day of school and although I don't want my father to be angry with me, I'm not afraid of a punishment either because I KNOW there won't be oneâ.
To: âMy girlfriend is alone with my father, with no one to protect her, completely defenceless. I NEED TO SAVE HERâ.
One knows that his father is a good person who, no matter how angry he is, would never hurt him. The other doesn't, it's the opposite, he is no longer sure of anything, he fears for the safety of those he loves and is so terrified that he is about to have a panic attack.
But how did we get from the first to the second?
How Gabriel Agreste's abuse managed to completely change his son in a matter of days
People don't remember this because it happened a long time ago and has not been repeated, but Adrien used to be a NORMAL person, not as perfect as he is now. While he has always been kind and polite, there were also times when he allowed himself to be a bit hostile and not as perfect as we are used to seeing him (as Adrien, not as Chat Noir). Usually that âgood boyâ facade was only used in front of his father and Nathalie, but in front of his friends he behaved like a normal teenager, even becoming a bit teasing, self-centred and rebellious. "The Bubbler", "Animan", "Kung Food" and "Evillustrator" being the clearest examples of these behaviours, in particular towards Nino, ChloĂ© and Marinette.
In S1 it becomes clear that the only conflict Adrien has with his father is the fact that he does not give him as much freedom as Adrien would like. Apart from this, Adrien has no other problems with him and considers him to be a good father. There are several of Adrien's behaviours that suggest that Gabriel's overprotectiveness towards him was the only thing wrong with him, but that otherwise Gabriel was excellent. It is time for us to look at that.
1. Origins
Adrien literally enrolled in a school without his father's permission and when his father refused to approve Adrien's attendance, he ran away from home and went running to school. When Nathalie tries to convince him to come back Adrien simply says âthis is what I wantâ and turns around to continue up the stairs, not caring if she has anything else to say. He hears that someone needs help and immediately goes to their aid, and as soon as he finishes doing that he turns to Nathalie and the bodyguard with a charming smile expecting to see their proud faces, and when instead he sees that they are still angry he is immediately horrified and gives up.
This tells us a lot about Adrien: he is a spoilt child who has never been punished in his life, and when things get difficult his first reaction is to be adorable or do a good deed to be forgiven. Adrien intended to leave Nathalie talking to herself, and he wasn't worried about the idea of being punished when he got home from school because he knew it wasn't likely to happen. He then helps someone to ingratiate himself with Nathalie and the bodyguard so that they will stop being angry, and when he realises that it didn't work he is surprised. He is used to people forgiving his disobedience just because he is cute. He immediately gives up and asks Nathalie not to tell Gabriel. While he didn't want his father to be angry with him, he also didn't fear punishment because he knew he wouldn't get it.
Later, at the mansion, Adrien realises that Nathalie did tell Gabriel and he feels betrayed, as if he didn't expect her to do that. Basically, he is not used to people disobeying him. Gabriel again forbids Adrien from going to school but it's nothing he hasn't said before: Gabriel reprimands Adrien's behaviour with words, never with punishment, and there comes a point when words are no longer enough and Adrien is no longer afraid of them, hence he becomes ârebelliousâ. The next day Adrien runs away again and, surprise surprise, he is not punished, in fact he is rewarded. Despite having disobeyed his father again, he is rewarded and allowed to go to school, even Nathalie (whom he treated very badly) offers to help him. This reward is without explanation, just because. I'm not saying Adrien deserved to be locked up for life at home, at the end of the day he's just a teenager who wants to socialise with more people, but it's clear he was a spoilt child whose behaviours both good and bad were praised, just like ChloĂ© and Felix, so if you ever wondered why he was such good friends with them, here's your answer.
2. The Bubbler
Here we get confirmation of how Adrien is a good boy only in front of his father and Nathalie, and how he is himself in front of his friends. At the beginning of the episode he together with Nino makes fun of his father because he does not agree to throw him a birthday party. Then, when Nino is akumatized, he at first refuses to be part of the party because he cares about Nino and wants to save him. Even when he realises that all the adults are trapped in bubbles, he never cares about his father, Nathalie or his bodyguard, only about saving Nino. And then he also gives up on this idea after a little chat with Plagg and says: "Okay, you're right. This might be the first day in my life that I actually get to do what I want for once", and Adrien joins the party without any show of consideration for the adults he knows.
Although all these behaviours were forgotten by the fandom, they are important to understand Adrien's character and how he changed due to his father's abuse. This is the normal behaviour of a teenager with a bit of a grudge: he's not a psychopath who wants something bad to happen to his father, he's a kid who knows that in the end he and his superhero partner will fix everything and he allows himself to have fun in the meantime. But it's something the current Adrien would never do, and there's where the difference lies.
3. Volpina & The Collector
This is the last episode in which we see Adrien acting like a normal teenager. He overhears Gabriel talking on the phone and decides to spy on him, then discovers that he has a safe behind his mother's portrait and out of curiosity goes to investigate. Adrien discovers the book and takes it with him, when he is discovered he quickly makes up a lie. RIP pre-lobotomised Adrien, you will always be missed.
This is the key point in the change of behaviour of both Adrien and Gabriel.
Gabriel confronts Adrien and he immediately gives an explanation in a tone of voice intended to generate sympathy:
âI just wanted to know what you were hiding behind that portrait that was so important.
This doesn't work so he resorts to blaming Gabriel himself:
âYou.. you never told me about those things.
And this doesn't work either, so he decides to admit what he did but also looks for a way to justify himself:
âI was intending to give it back to you, I swear. But then I lost it.
Gabriel tells Adrien that he no longer trusts him, and what is Adrien's reaction? He just looks jaded and apologises to Gabriel, in an attitude that makes it clear that he is used to apologising to make things right, that he is not genuinely sorry, and also offers to buy him a new copy, confident that this will be enough for Gabriel to forgive him. This confirms the previous point: Adrien is used to getting out of his punishments just because he looks cute or does a good deed, and this became so repetitive that Adrien already knew how to get out of a punishment, and was not afraid of his father but simply tired of scolding that went nowhere. Again, there is no fear of consequences.
Everything changes completely when Gabriel tells him that this book is unique in the world, that there is no other copy. Apologies didn't work and the other form of redemption, buying him a copy, wasn't possible. Then is when Adrien's face changes completely to horror: he has just understood the magnitude of his mistake. His father punishes him by forbidding him to go back to school and Adrien is heartbroken, but does not try to reason with his father (as he had done, and many times, in past episodes). This is the birth of the Adrien we know now: from a normal boy to a submissive puppet. He knows that there is no way to redeem himself and that is why he decides not to fight, he finally realises that his actions have consequences, serious ones, taking away what is most precious to him: his freedom.
From here on we see a completely changed Adrien, from a rebellious teenager to a perfect doll with no thoughts of his own. Before, he pretended to be perfect only in front of his father, Nathalie and his bodyguard. Now he pretends to be perfect in front of everyone, regardless of whether he knows them or not. The trauma can be clearly seen: Adrien adopts this neat behaviour because he is afraid that his freedom will be taken away if his father finds out that he made another mistake. Now Adrien knows that he CAN be punished. He doesn't even allow himself to breathe in peace because of all the stress and fear he carries. And so it is that Adrien becomes a puppet unable to stop pretending even in front of his own friends: we go from an Adrien who was not afraid to react strangely to Marinette's odd behaviour, who was not afraid to tease Nino about his crush and who was not afraid to put Chloé in her place when the situation warranted it, to an Adrien who could not even keep his back bent for fear that his father would consider it inappropriate.
Gabriel Agreste being a shitty father and exploiting his son's weaknesses to profit from them
Despite being strict with Adrien, there were times when Gabriel let him spend time with his friends and have fun with them. In fact, in S1 there are several of these, most of them to be found there (before all the drama).
In âAnimanâ he is in the zoo helping Nino with his date with Marinette.
In âGamerâ he is playing video games for the school championship at Marinette's house.
In âKung Foodâ he comes to Marinette's house to help her with her uncle and even takes them to the hotel and stays for dinner with them, he spends practically the whole day away from home.
In âHorrificatorâ he spends many hours filming the movie for the school.
In âThe puppeteerâ he is going somewhere alone and relaxed.
In âTimebreakerâ he is present during the race between Alix and Kim.
As you can see, despite being strict, Gabriel sometimes let his son spend time with his friends. When did this change? After the book incident. After forbidding Adrien to attend school, Gabriel noticed how heartbroken he was and realised that school and his friends were not a whim for Adrien, but something he truly cherished. And Gabriel used these feelings to manipulate Adrien. In S1, before the incident, Adrien is more ârebelliousâ and still has enough freedom to be with his friends. In S2, after the incident, Adrien behaves much better than in S1 and still doesn't have half as much freedom as before, and when he finally gets his father's permission to be with his friends, something happens at the last minute (Heroes Day Part 2, for example). This is because his father has discovered his Achilles' heel and uses it to benefit himself and manipulate Adrien.
The clearest proof of this is in the difference between âHorrificatorâ, where Gabriel let Adrien spend hours in the school filming the movie, and âQueen Bananaâ, where Gabriel let Adrien go for only a few minutes to the filming and right after he finished his part he literally left in a cage hanging from a helicopter. It is clear the pleasure that man developed in making his son miserable.
And we could talk about âChat Blacâ and âEphemeralâ, but I won't touch those topics as they are not part of our timeline. I'll just say that they made it clear how far Gabriel is willing to go (literally traumatise Adrien) in order to get what he wants. What I think, is sick.
Adrien's Stockholm Syndrome: normalisation, justification and romanticisation, and how it makes him vulnerable to unhealthy relationships
1. Gabriel
We have already made it clear that Adrien became an uncritical puppet, and as a result he developed a terrible Stockholm syndrome. Adrien normalised all the manipulation, and by accepting it as something usual this caused him to start justifying it as well. Needless to name the episodes, in many of them there is always someone (usually Nino, Marinette or Plagg) who points out his father's problematic behaviour and Adrien immediately tries to justify it with âhe does it because he loves meâ or âhe just wants to protect meâ. This shows us a big difference from the Adrien of S1 who was aware of his father's behaviour and even made fun of it, the current Adrien would never do that, on the contrary, he seems to live to justify Gabriel's actions. That's how serious the brainwashing is.
With Gabriel's behaviours now normalised and justified, they in turn begin to be romanticised. Despite being a shitty person, there are moments when Gabriel treats Adrien well: like when he hugs him (something Adrien is not used to), his worried words to Chat Noir about losing Adrien, or when he watches his mother's movie with him. These are all details that if they weren't accompanied by manipulation, anyone could call âcuteâ. And this makes Adrien unaware of the manipulation at first: his own denial and the kind details his father had for him confused his brain. Adrien did not think that his father could be so kind to him if he was a bad person, and that is why Adrien refused to consider him as such. This is a method of self-defence against dangerous situations, the feelings developed by this are not only romantic but any kind of feelings that are enough to make the victim feel safe in dangerous environments.
2. Kagami and Marinette
Let's start with Adrigami. Adrien didn't show a strong interest in Kagami until the chapter âOni-Chanâ where he even rejects Ladybug's fist to make sure Kagami is okay, but what led to this? The romanticisation of obsession and control.
Kagami is simply Adrien's friend, but when she sees a photo of him with another girl, she gets so jealous that she is akumatized and starts chasing this other girl to get her away from Adrien. This is behaviour that is bad as a girlfriend, but even worse as a friend. Adrien doesn't take this seriously and even spends the whole fight making jokes instead of worrying that one of her friends is a jealous girl who is willing to kill for him even if they don't have any kind of commitment. Then, when he sees that Kagami still has the rose he gave her, his behaviour immediately changes and you could say that this is when he starts to feel a real attraction to her, even rejecting Ladybug's fist, whom he had long been in love with.
Here we see how dangerous the romanticisation of problematic behaviour is: Adrien is willing to let go of all the chaos Kagami caused and all her toxic behaviour just because she showed that she really âloved himâ. And he reciprocates her feelings because he finds it cute that someone is in love with him enough to go crazy. The romanticisation of Gabriel's actions eventually led Adrien to romanticise other people's actions, even going so far as to feel honoured by all the questionable actions these people committed under the justification of loving him.
Something quite similar happens with Adrinette. In S5 Adrien mentions that he started to accept his feelings for Marinette from what happened in âThe Puppeteer 2â, and there's no way this isn't weird. He had feelings for Marinette long before that, but it was that event that led him to accept them. Marinette literally assaults a âstatueâ just because it looks like Adrien, starts fantasizing about a life together, steals one of his hair and many other weird things, and what's Adrien's response? To say that he fell in love. He literally saw how far Marinette was capable of going because of her obsession with him, and as much as that behaviour was justified with âit was a jokeâ, instead of caring, what he does is fall in love with her... because of her obsessive and bizarre behaviour towards him.
It is honestly quite disappointing to see how Gabriel's manipulation damaged Adrien to the point of leaving him craving only unhealthy relationships because that was his perception of love.
Both victim and perpetrator
Adrien developed a split personality and a taste for taking advantage of people when he is in situations of power. Gabriel turned Adrien into a victim and a perpetrator, the role depending on the situation. When Adrien is the one at a disadvantage, he displays submissive and manageable behaviour. When he has all the power, he has no problem using it selfishly and taking advantage of others. This was taught by Gabriel, from prudence to ruthlessness, are things Adrien learned from him. And in a way that's how Adrien differs from Chat Noir: the power they possess.
Adrien is always at a disadvantage: his life is in the public eye, everything he does is always monitored by his father or his fans, and if he makes a mistake it is very easy for his father to find out and punish him. This is why Adrien, always powerless, forces himself to act submissively. He does not possess the power in such situations, so he can only act as he is expected to act.
As Chat Noir things are quite different, he always has the power. Chat Noir is a superhero, he watches over Paris but no one watches over him, he has freedom, destructive power, a city that depends on him and a partner who needs him to defeat the supervillains. He has the power. And he uses this power to his advantage.
A clear example of this is his tendency to threaten. Adrien has several times been willing to give up his miraculous and even verbally threaten (in a passive-aggressive way) Ladybug just because it bothers him that she has secrets. All of S2 was Adrien threatening to give up his miraculous if Ladybug didn't tell him her secrets, and this behaviour wasn't like âwe can't keep hiding things from each other anymore, this isn't healthy for me and if we're not going to be honest it's best to just give upâ, no, this behaviour was like âif you don't tell me what you're hiding, I'll give this up and you see if you can do it all by yourself or if you find me a replacementâ. I understand that he was tired of the situation, but manipulation is never justifiable behaviour. Evidence of this is found in episodes such as âSyrenâ, where Adrien even threatens Plagg with give up his Miraculous if he doesn't tell him what Ladybug is hiding.
Another example is âGlaciatorâ, where he invites Ladybug to a dinner and she makes it clear that she already has plans and is unlikely to go. And yet Adrien is self-illusioned, and when his fantasies are shattered by something Ladybug had already warned him would happen, he simply accuses her of mocking him, throws a tantrum, refuses to help with the akuma, and when Ladybug comes up with a good plan to defeat the villain he guilts her by saying: âSorry, Ladybug, it's not cool to play with people's feelingsâ when Ladybug never played with his feelings and in fact realised these only minutes ago.
There are many other episodes like these, too many to list. I guess the most notorious ones are âNY Specialâ (where he has no problem being unfaithful to Kagami) and âLiesâ (where he also has no problem being unfaithful, lying to her, trying to provoke akumatizations and so on). His problematic behaviours are not only as Chat Noir, but also as Adrien when he finds himself in relationships where he has the power. In his courtship with Kagami he knows that she is completely in love with him and uses this to his advantage and does truly horrible things like the ones mentioned above without regard for her feelings because he knows or believes that she won't leave him. Something similar happens with his friendship with ChloĂ©, he knows how much ChloĂ© appreciated him and so every time she committed a bad deed he threatened to end their friendship. It's not wrong to want your friend to stop being a shitty person, and it's okay to let him/her know that if he/she continues this stupid behaviour you'll have no choice but to walk away, but the problem with this is that we go from Adrien's genuine concern for ChloĂ© to empty threats just because, in the end, ChloĂ© wouldn't change her behaviour and he wouldn't leave either.
Conclusions
This is not as well written as I would like it to be. I procrastinated for weeks and when I finally decided to write it I no longer had the series so fresh in my memory. I am a teenager with no professional knowledge of psychology who wrote this at 3 a.m. while I was not so sober.
This post is not salt against Adrien/Chat Noir, in all of âMiraculousâ there are only two or three characters I hate and none of those are Adrien, so this post is not hate towards him. While I did describe some of his behaviour in a not so nice way, that was not a personal opinion but an analysis. Like when you go to a psychologist and he doesn't give you his personal opinion but a diagnosis, the main difference being that I am not a professional nor do I claim to be one. Anyways, this is a direct attack on Gabriel Agreste for being a shitty person.
As you may have noticed, most of this analysis is based on S1 to S3. While I did mention some episodes from S4 and S5 they were not as relevant, this is because the first 3 seasons are the ones I've seen the most and ergo the ones I remember the most, maybe later (I don't think so) I'll do a part two on S4 and S5.
Finally: my personal opinion on Adrien. He is an amazing character whose development and build goes unnoticed by the fandom, this is probably because it wasn't done on purpose (if this character build was planned it wouldn't be half as good as it is, the writers aren't that talented). Adrien is just a boy, a victim of an abusive home that ingrained several of his father's behaviours within him and he has no âtrue personalityâ as this depends on the situation he finds himself in. He acts this way as a method of survival and although it is not right, it is a psychological response and it is not as if he can help it. I'm really happy that the poor boy is free from his abusive father and I hope that in S6 he can be happy and get therapy.
People say Harry's oblivious and unobservant but that's not true at all. It's just that he completely tunes out things he doesn't care about. If he's not interested in a topic or a person he ignores them. When he thinks something is interesting or important he's actually hyper observant and incredibly perceptive.
It's why he notices everything about Draco from his appearance to his moods to what kinds of packages he gets from home but Harry didn't even get the names of Theodore Nott or Zacharias Smith till 5th year. It's why he remembers every story and stray comment that comes out of Draco's mouth and why in sixth year he remembers what Draco looked at in a shop 4 years ago but can barely name a single thing said in his History of Magic class.
Harry only pays attention to things that matter to him. And Draco is indisputably one of those things.
I never really noticed this before (mostly because I havenât rewatched this episode) but the color here is crazy.
Emilie (or Kagami representing Emilie) is in a blue room with Paris being orange. And Amelie (or Felix representing Amelie) is in an orange room and London is blue.
Now upon first glance, you feel more the temperature of the colors, and storytelling wise, the colors would seem to convey Emelie in a cold environment, despite marrying for love, and Amelie in a warm enviroment, despite knowing it was arranged and he was abusive. Itâs poetically different. And slightly strange, as their environments tells us a different story.
But then I thought about it a different way. Emelie was an adventurer. She wanted to travel and see the WORLD. Amelie gave up everything for her FAMILY and being the heiress.
My eyes are quite quickly drawn to things in light contrasting the darker colder blue. Bringing things into focus. Emelies focus lies outside of her home at the WORLD, at Paris, the city of love. As if she still longs for adventure and is trapped inside. And Amelieâs focus lies inside with her FAMILY that she gives everything for, no matter how hard it is or what abuse she may have to face.
The windows have a story as well. As Emelies window is smaller and thinner, with less space between the bars. We know Adrienâs deepest fear is being contained and locked away. Maybe he shared that with his mother. But Amelieâs (like Adrienâs) window is big. Giving a sense of freedom. Perhaps, that freedom was allotted, or just an illusion for more control.
I think this can give interesting depth into these characters, and subsequently, the children they made. And why they made the discussions they did, such as Amelieâs devotion to her son despite not fully understanding. Or perhaps, some secrets of the Agreste household, where things never seem to be what you think.
When Harry witnesses Draco being forced to torture Rowle, he is extremely upset. Much more so than he typically is about these visions. There are a lot of very drarry implications. Let's break it down.
"Malfoyâs gaunt, petrified face seemed branded on the inside of his eyes. Harry felt sickened by what he had seen, by the use to which Draco was now being put by Voldemort.â
Notable points from this passage:
1) Harry understands Draco so well that he immediately takes for granted that he doesn't want to be using the Cruciatus curse. It never even crosses his mind to take this as evidence that Draco is now a willing torturer who enjoys cruelty or that he deserves to be in this situation for having chosen the wrong side and for his role in Dumbledore's death.
Nor does Harry think Draco is just scared and upset because he's afraid Voldemort might lash out at him too - which is what Harry would think if he saw any other Death Eater acting afraid around Voldemort. He clearly sees that Draco is horrified by the acts he is being forced to commit. And he also completely accepts that it is Voldemort forcing Draco to commit these acts, thus absolving Draco of responsibility.
2) Harry is DEEPLY upset by seeing Draco in this position. More upset than he ever is about seeing any other Death Eater being terrorized or hurt by Voldemort (Harry doesn't even spare one thought for Rowle for example!) Not only that. He's also more upset than he is about seeing Ollivander tortured. Or about seeing Voldemort murder a woman and her children later on while searching for information about Gregorovitch. He finds those visions alarming but he shakes them off pretty quickly.
The only comparable strong reactions are how he responds to his visions of Arthur Weasley and Sirius in book 5 - i.e. visions of people he knows and cares about in danger and suffering. And it's not even the scene as a whole that upsets him. It's specifically Draco - whose frightened face seems "branded" on the inside of Harry's eyes. Harry can't get the vision out of his head, feels sickened, and fights to keep his voice casual afterward. Even though Draco wasn't even actively being hurt.
So canonically Draco matters to Harry in a way that almost all other people don't. It's not generic nobility that gives Harry sympathy even for an enemy - because he doesn't feel this way about other Death Eaters. And it's not general pity that Harry would feel for any innocent hurt by Voldemort - because he doesn't feel that way about victims like Ollivander or the children Voldemort killed. It's the type of reaction Harry ONLY has to people he deeply cares about suffering or being in danger. Harry may not think of it that way on an intellectual level. But his heart knows it even if his brain doesn't. He cares about Draco Malfoy. A lot. He cares about him more than he cares about almost anyone else.
3) Also notable. Harry starts out referring to him as Malfoy but then switches to thinking of him as Draco as he starts worrying about him. (Yes. The drarry trope of Harry switching from "Malfoy" to "Draco" literally happens. IN CANON.) And he keeps thinking of him as Draco after that point. The next time Draco is referred to is during the whole sequence where the Golden Trio are prisoners at the Manor. Harry refers to Lucius by his full name multiple times, but consistently refers to Draco as "Draco" rather than "Malfoy" in his internal narration.
4) (Also the fact that Draco's face is described as "gaunt" hits me right in the feels. It seems that he's in worse shape even than he was when Harry last saw him at the end of 6th year. Sad but not surprising given the guilt that is probably eating at him over his role in Dumbledore's death, what he is now being forced to do as a Death Eater, and the very tangible dangers and suffering that come with being out of favor with Voldemort while having him in your house.)
Tldr: I don't need my ships to be canon but drarry is. jkr who? ;)
