thomas has experienced many dangerous situations throughout his life with newt and all of his friends. the crank party reminds me of thomas’ life. i feel as if thomas’ wish was newt. newt was his hope. he created a plan to be sent into the maze to save him.

as thomas walks through the party, his hallucinations show the dangerous situations he experienced. he felt so scared and worried as he tried to find his friends. thomas walks through the party (his life) as images familiar to him reoccur.

he hasn’t fallen yet until he finds newt infected by the flare. thomas held onto hope to find newt, his love, as he went through so much but fell when he discovered newt as a crank. his whole world shattered into pieces as he screamed through unbearable pain.

thomas couldn’t handle the thought of losing newt. before thomas woke up, he remembers looking for teresa to tell her how he felt about the maze. he already told the right arm every coordinate to every wckd compound, trial, and lab. thomas wanted to save newt.

when he woke up from the memory, he goes to stand next to newt. he missed newt so much, he missed his home. thomas’ fear and heartbreak is newt succumbing to the flare; losing his only wish with all the love he’d ever known, taken from him. thomas loves newt so much and thinking about how much he cares about him makes me so emotional :’)

Newt’s last letter was read by Thomas, off-screen, as the scene was being shot. AND DYLAN IS ACTUALLY CRYING
