It cracks me up that out of all the characters on Better Call Saul, Lalo is probably the most well-adjusted. He has a good relationship with his family, and he loves his job. He’s never stressed out and seems satisfied with what he has rather than constantly chasing more. 

He’s secure in himself and doesn’t feel the need to prove anything to anybody. Kim calls him a dumb loser who’s bad at crime and would be in jail if not for her husband so he should fuck off and get his shit together, and not only does he NOT kill her, he doesn’t even get that mad! He’s like, “Wow, my lawyer’s hot wife laid some hard truths on me. I really should fuck off and get my shit together.” 

And then he does! He doesn’t sulk about it. He realizes she was right that he needed someone to trust, so he works on getting his favorite guy promoted so he has someone to help him out with the hard stuff. Just because said guy turned out to be a double agent doesn’t mean Kim’s advice wasn’t good, and Lalo was mature enough to see that she was right.

Yes, he kills people without remorse, but as Chuck advised Jimmy, if you’re going to hurt people to get what you want, it does nobody any good to marinate in guilt over it. If it bothers you that much, just don’t do it! And if you do it, then own it!

Of course, next season he will be out for revenge, but I can’t imagine him being a huge weirdo about it the way Gus is, spending decades planning the perfect revenge and then getting blown up because he had to make sure it was EXACTLY right. No, he’ll just find who fucked with him and try to fuck them back, like a normal person.

That’s what makes him the perfect villain for this series. All the other characters are so anguished and are constantly wrestling with their inner demons. Not Lalo though! He feels great!!!

so um theory about why vaas and citra don't look like your typical pacific islanders and why do they speak with different accents

first of all one of their parents is hispanic/latino so they're biracial and vaas looks more like hispanic/latino parent while citra looks a bit more like the pacific parent

LANGUAGES

theory is that on the rook they have like a super closed like monastery thing and they priest(ess)s have their own language or don't speak any language other people outside the monastery speak and Citra was sent there kinda early in life so she spoke that language the majority of her life so she simply does not remember much of english and doesn't remember any spanish at all (she's also the less smart sibling), hence both the priests and the temple guards speak the monastery language only

and Vaas on the other hand was living his ordinary (as ordinary as life on rook can be) life as a rakyaat warrior with parents who spoke spanish and english so he's bilingual and when he became a pirate spanish became his primary language and hence he has more of a spanish accent and is able to communicate very complex thoughts in english (plus pirates actually have much more exposure to english media like movies and stuff (if they want to))

Chapter 2 is up! Taking a brief detour to Domingo’s POV, and then its onward to Mexico.

Domingo didn’t expect Nacho to explain.

He was never one for explanations, even as a kid. Nacho guarded his mysteries carefully like they were valuables that someone might steal. Domingo tried not to take it personally. Nacho didn’t open up to anyone. He was happy enough to just be around him. If he was very lucky, Nacho would let his guard down and he’d catch glimpses of…someone, hiding behind his layers of defenses—a someone with a sad smile and soft eyes. Fortresses that strong must be defending something precious.

Domingo used to think that maybe he’d be the one to break through Nacho’s defenses at last and rescue that someone he saw in there. He knew better now. He wasn’t strong enough.
