I want to prove a point.
also what form of media do you want to see ASL more present in? Books? Movies? Tv?
when I was like 15, a drunk woman I didn’t know at a party who was smoking a cigarette on the porch started randomly opening up to me about her infertility journey and I told her how I was my parents rainbow baby after multiple miscarriages and fertility treatments said not to lose hope. she comforted me about being a strange kid without many friends my age (hence why I was at a party full of adults thrown by my uncle) and told me everything would work out eventually. the next time I saw her like 2 years later (small town, mutual friends) she was carrying her newborn. I think about that a lot. it’s easy to feel disconnected from people and but sometimes just talking to them and hearing their point of view and relating makes you feel less alone. even if you’re only each other’s company for a few moments.
In many cultures, ethnic groups, and nations around the world, hair is considered a source of power and prestige. African people brought these traditions and beliefs to the Americas and passed them down through the generations.
In my mother’s family (Black Americans from rural South Carolina) the women don’t cut their hair off unless absolutely necessary (i.e damage or routine trimming). Long hair is considered a symbol of beauty and power; my mother often told me that our hair holds our strength and power. Though my mother’s family has been American born for several generations, it is fascinating to see the beliefs and traditions of our African ancestors passed down. We are emotionally and spiritually attached to our hair, cutting it only with the knowledge that we are starting completely clean and removing stagnant energy.
Couple this with the forced removal and covering of our hair from the times of slavery and onward, and you can see why so many Black women and men alike take such pride and care in their natural hair and love to adorn our heads with wigs, weaves, braids, twists, accessories, and sharp designs.
Hair is not just hair in African diaspora cultures, and this is why the appropriation and stigma surrounding our hair is so harmful.
I don’t know if anyone needs to hear this but “we all respond to trauma in different ways, not just pretty palatable ways” and “we are accountable for our own actions, even actions born from trauma” are not contradictory statements
am I overreacting or do I have a valid reason to feel the way I do: a novel by me
good things will happen 🧿
things that are meant to be will fall into place 🧿
You know what is amazing (that would never happen in canon, but)
marichat and ladrien could both be canon AT THE SAME TIME
if Adrien and ladybug found out that each of them is madly in love with the other and started dating (probably secretly?), they would be SO OVER-THE-MOON HAPPY and in love AHHH
and at the same time?? Marinette and chat noir could become close friends that are 100% platonic. And omgsh they would be friends with the love of their life and not know it ahhh. FRENS!!
and then in ladynoir, chat would be like “hehehehe I’m your BF and you don’t even know it.” And ladybug would be like “hehehe im your BFF and you don’t even know it.” And chat wouldn’t act sad about her rejections anymore and they would grow closer as partners and be happy and !!
and then in adrienette it would be the flip! marinette like “EEEE IM YOUR GF!!!!” and Adrien like “EEE IM YOUR BFF!” And they would get closer too!!
and then eventually with all of this going on there is bound to be a slip-up that leads to a reveal and imagine how happy they will be to find out that their one true love and their best friend are the same person ;__;
basically what I’m saying is make ladrien and marichat canon u cowards
(a major flaw in this plan is them having time to secretly date someone and secretly be BFFs with someone else on top of their already-busy civilian schedules AND their superhero duties but let’s not talk about that)
