Night 2 – Electric Boogaloo

Boy, were we ready to get to bed in our new Comfor-Pedic IQ 200. The first night, we had slept great, and talked all day about how comfortable our new sanctuary is. After work, we went out for dinner…I had the grilled shrimp & broccoli pasta, and Emily got the salmon and greens…and we headed straight home, excited for what we were expecting to be an awesome night on our new bed.

We were totally right

We had always planned on this part of it being awesome, prop up and read a book, watch a movie, or whatever. We were totally stoked to skim the Netflix and came across this movie, I won’t spoil it for you, but if you like suspense / science fiction / philosophical action/dramas, you won’t be disappointed. The movie was good, for the first 30-40 minutes or so, we were sitting about 30% upright, with a 16% incline on the leg section. I started the massage function, but it was relaxing/distracting so, we opted to leave that off. The movie follows along these 3 friends, who are computer hackers, driving from MIT to CalTech. There are some genuinely strange and slightly creepy moments, and we were totally relaxed. About this time Emily asked me to turn up the movie, but I think that’s as much a filmmaker’s trick as it is related to our relaxation.

I adjusted the audio, and raised both the head and feet sections slightly, so I could sit more upright as the movie was getting really interesting, and we settled into a zero-gravity position, which is just about the bee’s knees when it comes to movie watching comfort.

After the ‘mind-bending’ conclusion, Emily asked me if there was going to be a ‘The Signal 2′ as we still had a few lingering questions at the end. I’m fairly certain that that is not in the works, so we just may never know! I know, troubling right? So, anyway, IMDB has this movie at 6.1 stars, and I would have probably rated it a 7. It was done ‘the right way’ old school suspense building, tasteful use of special effects. It totally had the feeling of a movie you and your buddies could make, even though a ton of people worked on it, it was a huge contrast compared to some of the big budget movies that you can’t help but see anymore. If you liked Cube, The Matrix, or the original Oldboy there is definitely something here for you. Plus you get Larry Fishburne in a HazMat Suit, and that wins.

After turning off the movie, Emily and I decided to lower both our feet and heads to flat and really experienced what the mattress alone could do for our bodies, and I was impressed all over again. The Smart Response system for support in the IQ mattress just silently adjusts making sure I get the support I’m expecting. Overall, you might think it feels slightly ‘firm’ and it is…where you need it. Emily at one point said, ‘It’s a lot firmer than our old bed, but it feels really good on my hip.” Which, I totally agreed with, it feels solid and supportive.

And like that, while we’re getting comfortable, next thing I know it’s morning, and we slept flat all night long!

The bed is super comfortable, even without the added contouring comfort and support of the Reverie adjustable foundation underneath. I got up and walked down the hall, and was making coffee before I realized I didn’t have any discomfort in my foot or back at all, on the second night! I’m betting the relaxing time in the zero gravity position did a lot of good, but waking up without noticing any stiffness in my back, neck, legs, or feet was a welcome surprise.

All in all, we are super happy with our choice so far, and are feeling good about it. I’m looking forward to bedtime again tonight already. Let’s hope I sleep as good as I did last night!
