Something very dear to my heart is the 501st thinking they're the badass rebel loose canons who do all the reckless crazy shit compared to the straight-laced, spick and span 212th who are extremely formal and put-together by comparison...
...until they start running joint campaigns and the 501st realize that the 212th are a disciplined, orderly, well-mannered battalion of ABSOLUTE FUCKING LUNATICS
Another thing I love about The Clone Wars is that it actually shows Obi-Wan's darker side at times.
Warden Agruss is undeniably a bastard - even so, the way Obi-Wan smiles when he turns to Rex is definitely something that doesn't exactly fit the Jedi Code.
Also, this? Damn. Damnnnnn. We know Obi-Wan is one of the most powerful Jedi in the Order, yet we rarely see him use the Force in a way like this. It's far more aggressive than the abilities we've seen him using.
And here, just for a moment, we see Obi-Wan giving way to his rage. You can see it in his movements - they're wider, more aggressive, less balanced than the traditional Soresu we're used to seeing. Maul mentions it explicitly: "Your rage has unbalanced you. That is not the Jedi way, is it?"
In conclusion, damn.
When the fanfiction was so good you wish there was fanfiction about it.
Messaging people for the first time is so hard. What am I supposed to say? Like, "You seem really odd and your blog intrigues me. Do you want to have philosophical conversations or perhaps talk about fictional characters?" What! Whatever. I will just follow you back and stare at your blog with my big beautiful brown eyes.
Dick Grayson's unmatched success as a child vigilante makes a lot more sense when you remember the Court of Owls was a thing and that Dick was meant to be the next Grey Son.
There is no way that someone at Haly's Circus wasn't there keeping an eye on him while he grew up. A future weapon needs to be trained and monitored after all, and a circus, a place where weird skills are completely normal, is actually a great place to secretly train a child.
You know, just some knife tricks that translated really well into actual fighting. How to get out of restraints and pick locks while under a time limit. Death defying acrobatic stunts that coincidentally do wonders for parkouring. That sort of thing. Nothing that seems out of place for a boy growing up around circus performers to learn, but would literally any where else.
I mean, while I fully believe that most kids would want to kill the man responsible for their parents deaths, Dick was weirdly prepared to go through it. He tracked down Zucco with way more ease than any normal child should have too. He became the first child vigilante, for goodness sake. The first Robin! He only started getting formal training after he basically forced Bruce into it!
Bruce himself has no idea that this kind of competency in a child is unusual, considering he was much too blinded by the similarities between his and Dick's tragic orphanhoods.
Alfred is in a similar boat because he’s desensitized to weird children after he somehow managed to successfully raise Bruce 'The Batman' Wayne, so he doesn't clock the hyper-competency as abnormal either.
By the time the other batkids start popping up (Jason 'The Audacity' Todd, borderline-street rat with no fear) (Tim 'the greatest stalker in Gotham history' Drake, child genius, also bullied his way into becoming Robin) (Barbara 'raised by the only uncorrupt cop in gotham' Gordon) (Stephanie 'daddy issues and spite' Brown) (Duke 'Pretends he's the normal one and people believe him' Thomas) it's too late.
It would also explain how Dick got along so well with Damian out of all of them. Similar childhood with different approaches and all that. On some subconscious level, Dick recognises and resonates with the murderous ten year old assassin with strong familial ties to a secret elite assassin organization.
It isn't until after the whole Court of Owls and Grey Son reveal that suddenly Dick realises a whole lot of things about his childhood that suddenly make a lot more sense.
you know I've been thinking about one cherik anti-parallel, about their past and their stories being completely controversial but umm like in the same way??
when erik was a kid he survived a lot of awful things he lost his parents he's been experimented on and he's always been hated just for what he is
then he finds people who accept him, who love him, who know who he is but adore him exactly for that (all those people are charles but still) but he doesn't change. he was hateful before, when he thought it was the only way for him to survive, and he still is, when it's no longer needed. he doesn't really change to the better.
and there's charles. he was always rich, well-educated, he always knew his place and it was the good one. yeah we can guess that his parents didn't really love him buuut for him it didn't change anything, it's wasn't important. he always had someone (raven) by his side. in that environment he never needed to be hateful or oroverprotective of himself so he grew up into a really nice guy
and then he finds out that there's a lot of people who actually hate him just because he's different, a lot of people who tried to hurt him. and eventually he was hurt, badly, everyone he loved was taken from him with his legs, his dreams, hopes, all that. he had a period of depression yes, but after that he remained a nice guy, he was still kind and good to everyone.
so erik didn't lose all his hate for this world had the opportunity, and charles didn't lose all his love for this world when he had the opportunity. kinda poetic idk((
“patroclus and achilles and jegulus variants!” “james is achilles and reg is patroclus!!!” NO. patroclus and achilles could not be more DIFFERENT from james and regulus. they are so wolfstar it HURTS.
lets start with the basics:
achilles, rather than the sun is a star, he shines brightly and everyone loves him. he is dangerous but only when you get close, unlike the sun who can burn from afar. what is sirius black, if not adored by the masses? what is sirius black, if not distant when he is near?
patroclus is not a rebel or a warrior, but he knows when a fight is necessary. things have happened to him to brand him for life beyond his control. remus lupin is cautious but intelligent. he knows how to get shit done and hes not afraid to do it if he deems it imperative.
to further my point:
james potter, despite his pettiness and his selfishness, would never stop fighting. despite what happened, he would not stay back in the tent while people went to war for him. he wouldnt do it. he would be bitter and angry and fucking pissed, but he would fight. sirius was raised with people doing things for him. he couldn’t be bothered to fight; he only did it because he was good at it. if someone annoyed him, he would sit out and wait the fight out. he’s whiny, but then, so is achilles.
regulus black would fight aggressively from the beginning, so unlike patroclus. it wouldn’t take his lover/friend to sit out from the fight to spur him into action. he will claw and bite for his cause, his method is madness. remus is patient. he is not a born fighter, but he’s willing to pick up a spear for those he loves. so when sirius, whom he treasures, elects out of the battle, it would be remus, not regulus (who’d already had his armor on), to slip sirius’ helmet on his own head.
achilles and sirius, who loved consumingly yet carelessly, juxtaposing james’ care that consumes.
patroclus and remus, who love madly yet quietly, in antithesis to the way regulus is quiet regarding everything but his madness.
achilles should not be compared to james. he IS sirius.
patroclus is the remus variant to ever exist.
thank you for listening to my ted talk! feedback is amusing and welcome!
The Bloody. *happy elizabeth noises*
Out of the 130 options in the picker wheel here (all are gender neutral),
And yes: there is a 'no epithet' option in there.
I got The Oathtaker.
A minute by minute summary of my thoughts during bio class.
Countdown begin.
This ain’t gonna be fun.
Only two min in.
She’s late.
How am I already bored?
That guy’s late.
Cal/Boba handcuffed together, working as allies?
Melidaan joins Mandalorian Empire?
I’m bored.
Clones’ first time hearing music
Clones eating real food for the first time?
Clones tour temple? (Where they hear music/eat real food for first time?)
I was right. This isn’t fun.
Soulmate AU for Charles/Erik?
Erik’s POV for first meeting?
Immediate aftermath of said first meeting?
Erik and Raven visit after Cuba?
They meet babies Kurt, Warren, Jean, maybe Scott.
They miss the sign, don’t realize it’s a school?
‘Did Charles have kids?’ moment, especially after realizing Jean’s a telepath?
Jean recognizes them from memories? All recognize them from photos and/or stories?
All the guilt when Erik sees Charles.
Cells. The powerhouse of, mitochondria is.
Phospholipid. Now there’s a word to make people flip a Scrabble board with.
Nigh impossible, you’d need lipid down first, then add phospho-, but a girl can dream.
Kurt and Warren would be adorable as childhood friends
That guy’s playing Wordle.
That guy is really, really, really bad at Wordle.
People realizing how insanely dangerous Charles is?
Erik realizing how lucky humanity is for Charles’ morality? and being very attracted to that?
Quiz on Friday, 45-50 questions, 50 points. Study slides.
Erik getting attacked by another telepath, Charles going territorial, has other telepath screaming/crying on floor, living worst nightmares, clutching head and begging for it to end, while Charles is gently comforting/fussing over Erik?
That girl is texting.
Is that guy watching Gravity Falls? Great taste.
Aw, why’d you turn the screen that way? Now I can’t see it.
Quinlan switching out Fox’s caf with decaf, letting him fall asleep, tucking him into bed?
While Fox’s asleep, using Shadow Training (TM) to do paper work? (Forgery/Ability to have multiple styli (plural of stylus) filling out multiple data pads simultaneously? (Force use?)
Quinlan leaving five min before Fox wakes up. Fox finding his paper pretty much done, crying because he’s still out of it and doesn’t want to wake up?
Quinlan making this a habit when he’s on Coruscant? Stone finding out, not telling? Fox scared if he talks about it, it’ll go away? Unable to believe it’s real?
That girl’s doing a crossword. Badly.
The answer is Lobelia. “She stole Bilbo’s spoons” is Lobelia Sackville-Baggins.
Where in Middle-Earth did she get Tauriel from? Even if she hadn’t been added solely for the purpose of paying less in royalties to Tolkien’s family, even if she had existed in the book, when in the name of all that is precious and beautiful, would she have stolen Bilbo’s spoons?
I might kill myself. This is why I shouldn’t have sat in the back row.
Only 6 min left. Heh. +60, Execute Order. I know I’m not funny.
So close, yet so far. So unbearably bored.
Is this what stream-of-consciousness notebooks look like?
I have a very odd stream of consciousness.
We get to leave early? Hallelujah!!
Goodbye!
There’s something about Roy’s specific kind of abandonment issues. A lot of other characters, they’ll distance themselves, they’ll stop themselves from getting attached, they’ll put up a wall and push people away. Roy? Generally speaking, he’s always open. He loves so easily, he’ll get attached to people so quickly. He puts himself out there, he gives his whole heart, and every time he’s hoping that this time he’ll be good enough for someone to stay, but every time he’s so scared that he won’t be good enough, that eventually they’ll leave. And every time he’s proven right. It’s Roy Harper’s tragedy. He’ll always lose the ones he loves, no matter how hard he tries. He’ll try and try and try, he’ll let people back into his life the second they ask, but they’ll always leave again. And in his mind, he’ll never be enough.
