Concept: I just picture Atsushi fading away with him singing the Old therebefore song from the Ballad of Songbirds and snakes.

To Fyodor it’s this act of defiance in a move that already ruins his plans.

To Akutagawa though he knows what that song even if he can’t yet recall the person singing it.

And it fills him with dread.

Because it’s a funeral song.

It’s the song his sister sang the day they lost their friends in the slums that day. That day that began it all.

It’s the song Atsushi heard from the tree he hid behind to watch the funeral for the man he just saved.

Fyodor doesn’t know the signifance and yet Akutagawa feels it hit him like a train.

That it’s Atsushi.

That it’s Atsushi very well aware he might die.

And yet he carries on singing until his mouth is gone.

And yet he stares at them until the light in his eyes fades.

Because there’s a chance this isn’t the end.

You’re headed to heaven

That sweet old hereafter

And I’ve got one foot in the door

But before I can fly up

I’ve got some loose ends to tie up

Right here in the old therebefore

I’ll be along

When I’ve finished my song

When I’ve shut down the band

When I’ve played out my hand

When I’ve paid all my debts

When I have no regrets

Right here in the old therebefore

When nothing is left anymore

All but Akutagawa’s memories and a promise he refuses to break.

And maybe the song doesn’t get a chance to conclude and that’s all the hope Akutagawa clings too.

A lot of people in bsd fandom say that only Dazai could actually kill Fyodor but I think that might be wrong

Hear me out here, we know Atsushi’s ability can slice through other abilities right? Well considering that current Fyodor isn’t actually Fyodor, it’s Bram, that would mean current Fyodor is a manifestation of his ability, which means Atsushi could slice through it, similarly to how he can slice through Rashōmon, which would mean the ability would have no effect on him, so Atsushi could probably also kill Fyodor, but the agency would probably stick with Dazai doing the killing just in case.

Concept: Atsushi is not affected by what’s written in The Book because as the bookmark he’s essentially an extension of it.

Atsushi can see the things it creates but it will be off to him in a way that he can’t really explain.

It’s like how Kunikida could create a gun with his ability and pick it out from one not created by his ability.

While any other person wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

And anything written in The Book as some kind of event or any history it rewrites will be common knowledge to everyone else.

But Atsushi will not have that.

Like Ango, Kyouka and Lucy are all talking about the Sky Casino as their plan. They all know it appeared 3 years ago and a rough bit about its history.

While Atsushi’s just staring at them like…the fuck are you guys talking about?! A Sky Casino?! A casino in the sky what?!

Ango clocks it because of course prior to this the Special Abilities Division had the page in their possession.

And for a character who often hallucinates, having Atsushi be the one with the responsibility to distinguish between what’s real and what’s been fabricated is a really interesting angle to me.

Aku after Atsushi comes back and the fight has "ended", immediately runs over to Atsushi to make he sure he's okay. And they meet eachother with a hug.

Atsushi: omg omg....I am back! I am alive!

Akutagawa: omg...you are back...you are okay

*squeezing eachother aggressively*

Atsushi: I thought I was dead...you were dead

Akutagawa: we are fine...we are fine...

*Atsushi pulls away*

Atsushi: wait, we are enemies! We are supposed to be on opposite sides not THIS!!!

Akutagawa, sighs: Weretiger, I didn't ask them to return you the ADA but to ME

Atsushi: oh...oh..

*meanwhile*

Aya: you aren't gonna stop this?

Fyodor: all these years I have learnt how important reunions can be.
