Concept: Atsushi being multilingual.
The Great War orphaned many kids and so there was a higher need for orphanage staff. Many soilders who had fought with Japan and settled there found work in within these orphanages.
One of them being Atsushi’s.
The staff were cruel and didn’t really care if the kids could understand them or not. And even if they learned Japanese they would often default to their native languages.
Particularly when it came to punishing the kids.
So Atsushi grew up hearing many different languages from staff who were originally from England. Germany, France etc.
With him and the other kids having to learn quickly because saying you didn’t understand ah instruction was not considered a good excuse.
Resulting in Atsushi who was more among the staff than the kids anyway, being able to speak in a variety of different languages.
Perhaps even being better than the rest of the because the staff hated him the most. And also because in the beginning Atsushi thought being more adept at their languages
It did not.
But what they would criticise him for he would then work on which only served to anger them more.
Atsushi would definitely know how to curse someone out with horrifying precision in each language.
People say Atsushi talks about his past too much and I think he doesn’t talk about it enough.
We are not the same.
I want that lore.
dear professor i cant seem to lock in. its so over
my favorite scene of bungou stray dogs is when atsushi says "its bungoing time" and killed fyodor
Dazai wants attention
Seeing your supposedly dead son on the highway
(Still alive guys, enjoy this shit art❤️)
my personal silly hc is that sskk both gnaw on each other a lot.. not even in a sexual way they both just seem like chewers to me
PLEASE, YEAH!!!!!!!!!! I especially like this in Beast because I really like how the work emphasizes the thin thin line between human and animal nature, and I like to imagine them with these little non domesticated traits that aren't negative per sé, they're just part of them. I'm especially soft for Atsushi running his fingertips through Akutagawa's canines when they're laying side by side, and again it doesn't have anything sexual about it it's just... They're very beast-like but they also have each other and they can be weird together. It is a very raw, very loving display of affection, a sort of instinctive intimacy that speaks of a vulnerability they would only and exclusively allow to each other. A kind of deep trust and love that's really so inherent of Beast sskk to me
WHAT DO YOU MEAN ATSUSHI IS AKUTAGAWA'S REASON TO LIVE???? THAT ATSUSHI IS THE ONE TO REPLACE DAZAI IN A SPACE THAT IMPORTANT IN AKUTAGAWA'S HEART?????? IM SORRY???????
I had to draw this handsome creature💔💔
Concept:
Kunikida helps Atsushi up as they conclude their training for the day.
Kunikida: Your footwork could use some work. Though you should be proud your control over your ability had improved a lot.
Atsushi: Yeah…that’s great..
Kunikida: What’s the matter with you?
Atsushi: Nothing.
Kunikida: Is it Dazai? Has Dazai been making you run around on those stupid errands again?
Atsushi: No, well yes but no it’s not that. It’s nothing important.
Kunikida: If it’s concerns a member of the Agency than it is important to me.
Atsushi: We’ll be late if we don’t go now…
Kunikida: I can allow 5 minutes out of my schedule for this. Now spill.
Atsushi: I don’t want to get better at controlling my ability.
Kunikida: Why ever not?
Atsushi: Because then you guys won’t want me anymore!
Kunikida:…
Atsushi: You took me in because I was a rampaging monster. The presidents ability keeps me in check so if I gain control now…you won’t need me here.
Kunikida:…You’re serious you seriously believe that?! You think we only keep you around because of your ability?!
Atsushi: You…don’t?
Kunikida: Atsushi! You…yes you were bought in partially because of your lack of control. But that’s not the main reason, you know what Dazai told the president?
Atsushi: What?
Kunikida: That you needed a home. That you were scared, practically skin and bone and you needed a home. And the Agency was the home you needed.
Atsushi: Oh…
Kunikida: And I’ll be honest I had my reservations.
Atsushi: Of course you did
Kunikida: That were extinguished the moment I watched you hug a fake bomb to save a group of strangers.
Kunikida: You passed and that makes you one of us and there’s no take backs on that.
Atsushi: It does?
Kunikida: Even…even if you left the Agency to pursue other dreams of yours. You would always be one of us and would always have our support wherever you needed it.
Atsushi: Like Katai?
Kunikida: Exactly, why…why can’t you accept that we want you here. Is it something we’ve done? Have we made you feel unwelcome in any way?
Atsushi: No! No you’ve all been so kind to me but that’s exactly it.
Kunikida: I’m afraid I don’t understand.
Atsushi: My parents left me in a bin bag on the side of the road. The orphanage told me my existence was a chore abd then they kicked me out.
Kunikida: Atsushi…
Atsushi: You want me when no one ever has. And I just keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and I-
He’s stunned into silence when Kunikida pulls him into a hug.
Atsushi: Kunikida?
Kunikida: I swear upon my very credibility as a member of the Armed Detective Agency. Upon my ideals and my soul that we will never abandon you when you need the most.
He’s surprised when he feels his shoulder get damp before gently rubbing Atsushi’s back as he cries.
Kunikida: And we’ll spend every day for the rest of our lives making sure you know that if we must.
His own eyes begin to water as he hugs Atsushi close.
