The Fnaf Fanverse is Wack

So for a little while even though I stopped being a fnaf fan I would keep my ear to the ground in terms of the drama in the Fanverse cause it was nuts. But after Theft King (A Fnaf News Youtuber) was rightfully ousted for some absolutely batshit behavior, I realized that this sub-community is so bonkers that it couldn’t go un-reported on. I deadass considered actually making a video essay again, but after realizing that doing so could have bad consequences for my friends I decided not to. But I can’t just not put out my findings, so I’m making a post on Tumblr where it’ll most likely either go nowhere, or at the very least be pretty contained. So for those of you annoyed that FnaF still has people supporting Cawthon, enjoy the schadenfreude under the cut.

Happy(?) Gold Morning! Here's the 'thing' I mentioned I was working on a few weeks back: a map of all canon endbringer attacks plus 25 ones I made up to fill gaps in the timeline. I love rolling dice to decide the fates of hundreds of millions of fictionalized people!

Making this map really showed the gaps in the distribution of attacks. Europe is massively overrepresented, as is the US East Coast, but South and Central America, and especially Africa, are pretty massively underrepresented. I'm sure there's probably a kinda-sorta explanation you can spin about the endbringers only attacking places Eidolon is likely to defend, or the Simurgh attacking places that are more geopolitically influential, but that rings hollow to me.

In order to do this I had to make a massive spreadsheet of all the known canon attacks, then figure out how many attacks realistically fit in the gaps (mostly in the 2004-2009 years), then come up with 'realistic' casualty estimates (which are probably way too high but I wanted this to be bleak, I guess). probably 10-15 hours just spreadsheeting. Anyway,I think I've rambled enough. Enjoy(?)

Every review I've seen of the Electric State movie doesn't mention Michelle being queer like in the book so I assume the movie didn't have that as part of her character. Does that count as queer erasure? Specifically lesbian erasure?

Edit: Thought about it a little and maybe they didn't wanna tackle the part in the book where a lunatic priest converts her lover and Michelle breaks down at her feet. Too cowardly to portray a priest as an asshole.

the fnaf movie is acceptable i guess. the writing's not good but the effects are. yeah it's meant for kids but kids deserve stories that don't treat them like fools

none of the characters have any personality beyond the role they need to fulfill in the story.

the "i always come back" line is a meaningless callback in this continuity because he never makes a habit of coming back.

it's obviously sequel baiting with the lack of any resolution to the plot but... you need an interesting story to bait a sequel.

tl;dr scott cawthon is an unremarkable-at-best writer whose stories only took off because they were interesting, (at the time) unique and were coupled with good clever game design. also fuck him he's a Trump supporter

There is a poen called First They Came by Martin Niemöller that talks about people ignoring issues until it affects them directly,the fnaf fandom is just a microcosmos of this mentally but is worth pointing out, let scott do what he pleases with his money but do not think he will be your friend or supporter when the politics you help founding come back to bite your ass.
