I'm using the fact aromanticism is trending to ask: elder aros, how do you know? I don't know if I have a crush on someone or I just love them very intensely in a platonic way
Cannot Stress Enough how important it is to read Howl’s Moving Castle written by Diana Wynn Jones immediately after watching Howl’s Moving Castle directed by Hayao Miyazaki. When he made the movie he was of course upset with war and thus included it in the film, but you gotta understand. You really Gotta Understand. Every time in the movie where Howl turns the door dial black to travel to an absolutely hellish warscape? You know where that same dial takes him in the book? The Real World Country Of Wales
I struggle to comprehend those of you who say Israel is prolonging this war because they "want" to. Because they want to hurt other people, or because they want to conquer the middle east, all the reasons are equally stupid.
Do any of you really think any of us WANT to be doing this? Do the parents WANT to be crying over the graves of their children? Do the soldiers WANT to be fighting for their lives and possibly losing them in the heat and the fire and the dust? Do the refugees from the endangered areas WANT to be crammed in hotel rooms with thousands of strangers? Do the loved ones of the hostages WANT to be outside in all kinds of weather, screaming for their return?
Do the kids WANT to be drawing the soldiers pictures so they'll have something to smile at amid the death and destruction? Do the teenagers WANT to spend hours on their feet packaging food and supplies?
Does every single citizen in this country WANT to dread every knock on the door and every telephone call?
I don't think the word "want" is in the vocabulary of this war. I know that the distance between the average leftist overseas and the average Israeli is pretty unbridgeable right now, but surely this can't be that difficult to understand. We are currently thinking in terms of survival. There is no "want" and "don't want" involved in this war anymore. There is "need", "must" and "fuck, I guess we have to do this, don't we?".
That's about it.
Hope that cleared something up.
How the hell did I get caught up in an argument about Dick's skin tone again? 😭
DRAW HIM ANYWAY YOU WANT, AND LET ME DRAW HIM ANYWAY I WANT.

I once wrote a super long comment like that AND THE AUTHOR MADE A SEQUEL??? FOR ME???? AND GIFTED IT TO MY ACCOUNT????
BTW i see these posts all the time like "ohhh i dont know what to comment on fics.." and every response is "keysmashes! or hearts!! anything works :3" and thats GREAT!! thats helpful!!
but: consider. if u genuinely like analyzing writing.. do u know ur just allowed to go through and quote your favorite parts and ramble abt what they mean to u and the author will LOSE IT WITH HYPE?
genuinely. i felt SO WEIRD the first time i did it.. but like. holy shit authors love it. its crack for authors. the first time i did it, it was on a fic that hadnt updated in half a year, give or take, and the author made 3 updates that month BECAUSE OF MY COMMENT.
LIKE. as an author every comment is INCREDIBLE!!! but also, dont feel like your comment has to be short or otherwise ur invasive or smth!! authors ADORE long comments more than ANYTHING.

Petting a street cat. Helping an old woman that dropped her bag in the bus. Complimenting a Haredi girl with a really cute handmade bow. Asking an Arab girl for directions, and her explaining in extreme detail. Pulling a random boy from the road before he will get run over. Translating between the English speaking lady that wants to buy coffee and the Hebrew seller that can't understand a word of English. Crying, and a Haredi woman comforting you without knowing who you are or what is going on. Helping a family of tourists to get to the old city. Helping to comfort a kid in a bomb shelter in a neighborhood that isn't yours. Street libraries. Helping a woman in Central Station pay with her phone for the metro. Benched with names of people who loved this city. Decorated pavement that someone made years ago and somehow stayed intact. People who aren't always nice, but are always kind.
This is Jerusalem.
