What I think is going on:
Nico: “what are they saying?”
Gabi: “Nico is on fire”
Nico: *laughs in old man at his own silliness”
Gabi: *hugs said old man in outpouring feelings for this clueless silliness of a man*
And here it is...a better quality version, as promised, haha.
Apparently Gabi never had enough of hugging Nico yesterday

I want to say “I think modern NYC is a lot less dark and a lot less conduisive to some of the BF realities than modern NYC, so I’ll be curious to see how they do it”
Although at the same time, I feel that all the realities are still there, still rampant. They are just less obviously everywhere so it works
Hello domeyashiro! I was wondering if you ever got to reread Banana Fish. I've been reading random volumes from my own yellow french (i'm spanish though) version since I learnt about the anime. From google translate I understand there is a preview this month and, is it going to be broadcasted? Anyway, I'm as eager for it as for Yashiro and Doumeki being back together.
I’ve started rereading the mangas but only got till volume 5 so far, because I got busy with work. That’s my official excuse at least. But I have to admit that I’m also a bit hesitant to continue reading, because I’d get completely absorbed again, and then … you know, it’s mentally challenging and I don’t know if I can go through that twice this year. Maybe I’ll wait with the rest until the anime airs.
I don’t think the event where the preview will be shown at the end of this month will be broadcasted anywhere. If the preview is only a trailer, it should come out soon afterwards, but if the first few episodes are shown, we’d have to wait until the official start of the series of course (but would hopefully still get a trailer soon?) Anyway, the announcements made at the event will probably get published afterwards, so at least we should know the main cast and a few more members of the production staff by the end of the month. :)
Archiving the new angle (if I haven’t already done it)
New angle hehe

With the popularity of the upcoming anime, I decided to make a master post for fans new and old, as well as for those who are curious about the series! What is Banana Fish? Banana Fish is a manga series by Akimi Yoshida. Originally published in 1985, it follows the story of Ash Lynx, a charismatic gang leader, as he grapples with figuring out the mystery of “banana fish” that turns his life upside down. The story also centers around the close relationship between Ash Lynx and Eiji Okumura, a young Japanese photographer’s assistant who came to New York to photograph the city, but ends up getting caught up in Ash’s violent life. DISCLAIMER: Banana Fish is definitely not for everyone. Some of the topics Banana Fish deals with are violence, drugs, rape, pedophilia, child abuse, gang warfare, racism, prostitution, and death. None of the sexual content is shown explicitly. I recommend not investing in this series if these topics make you uncomfortable.
Manga - The main story consists of 19 volumes. VIZ Media licensed a english translation in 1999-2002, with flipped L to R pages and censored dialogue. VIZ later released a full re-translation of the series of all 19 volumes. Both have since been out of print. Can be read in full here, in English. The manga is also getting a gorgeous box edition which can be found on Amazon. (Japanese only)
Side stories - An extra volume, titled Banana Fish: Another Story consists of five side stories that take place before and after the events in the main story. Highly recommended to read after you finish the main story. Raws
Angel Eyes -prequel that tells the story of how Ash and Shorter met. Included in VIZ’s translation of Banana Fish.
The Garden with Holy Light - Epilogue to Banana Fish. Included in VIZ’s translation of Banana Fish. Private Opinion - Prequel that tells the story of how Ash and Blanca first met. Untranslated. Fly boy, in the sky - Prequel that tells the story of how Eiji and Ibé met. Untranslated.
Ura Banana - Short, comedic story about Ash and Eiji discussing fan mail with Akimi Yoshida. Untranslated.
Media Anime- A Banana Fish anime is in the works! Set to premier July 2018, it is being produced by the studio MAPPA and will consist of 24 episodes. The biggest change will be that the story is set to modern day. You can find more information here on ANN. (Will update this section when we get closer to the date) Radio drama - A radio drama for Banana Fish was produced in 1996. @bananafishlovers was kind enough to compile the drama CDs into a playlist which can be found here. Untranslated, but you can follow along with the audio if you have the manga close by. Stage adaption - A stage adaption for Banana Fish was produced in 2012. Very hard to find outside of Japan, here’s a preview (Warning: stage silliness) Asrun Dream - A song from the album Mars by Gackt. In an interview with Akimi Yoshida, “Asrun Dream is an older song of his [Gackt], inspired by Banana Fish. He said that when he wrote it, he imagined Eiji asleep in bed while Ash looks out the window to the night sky.” (lyrics + source) Extras Angel Eyes - Not related to the side story of the same name, Angel Eyes was a Banana Fish art book by Akimi Yoshida. The short story, That Summer, is also included in the art book. You can read it here and here You can find copies of the book on Amazon or on Japanese bidding sites, but please be warned that the price for it has skyrocketed since it is a rare book. Banana Fish REBIRTH - Official guide book to Banana Fish. This book includes an extensive analysis on the story and characters, and the setting of New York City. Harder to find than Angel Eyes, but also just as crazy expensive. I hope this covers everything. If you have any questions, suggestions, or corrections, let me know! I’ll also be updating this post as more information about Banana Fish is released.

I was just thinking of this ask/reply, and I got reminded of this.
Stray cats are definitely Batman. This is my adopted stray. She definitely seems to think she is Batman.
Omega Bruce sort of reminds me of a stray cat. Not quick to love people, lashes out when uncomfortable, hides away when seriously hurt (both physically and emotionally in Bruce's case), but once he's found his true home and people who love him, he's happy.
That is a very accurate description of Bruce in a lot of my stories… but omegaverse especially.
This would really help right now...
Alright kids, Boo here with a hopefully non-arrogant PSA.
I’m a writer of FanFiction because I like it and it’s my preferred genre (also a great way to receive feedback on writing that I can use on originals, bref). But like with most artistic work posted online, I have very little feedback.
When I was in a slightly writing rut, I cranked one shots left and right, nothing out of the ordinary. But instead of people commenting with their thoughts and good feedback, they just gave me requests.
I don’t think I could ever put into words what that felt like, but I’ll try (the irony of being a writer). It suddenly felt tiring, being a writer, and very quickly I stopped writing altogether. I only ever showed my friend what I wrote and left it at that. I haven’t published anything for a while after. It felt like people were treating me like a mule wanting me to do work for them, and I just wasn’t up for that. I lost my will to write, and then I began to think, “If I post something else other than what was requested, will people even read it?”
Then you get the infamous comments, “You haven’t forgotten about my request right??? Here’s another.”
That just adds anxiety and guilt. I’m purposely ignoring the comments to save my own uncreative ass, at least that’s what it feels like.
After weeks of convincing myself that my stories are worth sharing no matter how many people read them, I started writing and publishing again while working on some longer pieces. Slowly it got better.
Now this week, I remembered I joined another fanfiction platform, and realized I had never published anything on it. I had an idea, and so I started writing. It didn’t come out as I imagined it would, but I was so proud? Like, I started feeling happy about what I created again. Like genuine happiness that I haven’t felt in months since my last published work.
A few hours later, I get this comment:
I cranked out three 3k stories after reading this.
In four days.
It never happened before, and I don’t know how many times it will happen again. It was one comment, but it gave me so much fighting spirit that I think I’m on my way to regaining my initial writer mindset.
Fanfiction writers depend on feedback as a validation that their stories matter to people. If you’re wondering why your favourite author hasn’t updated/posted in a while, ask yourself, “Did I do everything that would convince them to continue writing this?”
