Robron are in the pub; Chrissie and Andy are sitting across the way and she can’t stop throwing looks at them and showing off with Andy by kissing him, laughing at his jokes really loudly and pushing her hand into his shirt. Robert finds himself feeling like crap and Aaron notices. Suddenly he gets a call and has to run out, he squeezes Rob’s shoulder and leaves. Robert can feel Chrissie’s eyes on him and he doesn’t even wanna look up. He’s about to order another beer when his head is suddenly being turned and Aaron is kissing him; a long, deep, tender kiss- one hand in his hair and the other cupping his chin. Aaron pulls away slowly; pressing a few small kisses to his lips before smiling, “See you later.” Robert can’t speak, only nod, and Aaron grins before standing straight and throwing a smug look at Chrissie as he heads out again. Robert sits, slightly stunned, before grinning and ordering another beer.

Robert looks good both ways. He looks older with short hair. Doesn’t look 30, though. Blonds usually look younger longer.

Am I the only one who misses long, shaggy-haired Robert?

I miss the way his longer hair would catch in the wind while he was looking slightly shifty or giving Aaron heart eyes…

I totally agree with you! It was a BEAUTIFUL sight! That’s how real couples are...very much like my partner & me. You can see the “coupleness” of their just being together. And Robert saying, “You’re okay then?” You look at Robert’s eyes when he looks at Aaron...His eyes tell us “I LOVE this man to bits! I’d move heaven & earth for him” and we see the concern in Robert’s look & in his voice. Aaron Sees & hears all that as well. Can you imagine how that must make Aaron feel inside? Then I think of Robert, how deeply Robert feels such joy and happiness to be with the man he loves and adores and who loves and adores him back. AND Charity...COLD, HATEFUL Charity, letting her guard down (I think there’s an awful lot of good in Charity Dingle. She is AFRAID someone MIGHT catch on to it!). Charity standing there, smiling, truly touched by the love shared by these two wonderful men!  It was marvellous!!!!!

i just can’t get over the shift in robron tonight. and yes, i probably am over-analysing because i’ve missed them so every second of their scenes is now extremely important, but they just seemed so comfortable around each other.

even the way they sauntered into the pub, chatting quietly to each other, robert glancing back at aaron… and then you had the whole teddy bear exchange (as i’m calling it) and aaron letting his hand slide down robert’s arm as he gets a pint. it’s just a tiny physical display of… not even affection, but just that reassurance that he can touch robert, that they can do this now, that they’re not hiding. and he probably doesn’t even question it now, or not as much, which is even more special really because this has all become so normal to them.

and robert being included in the family discussion in the backroom, and aaron not freaking out because his mum’s in hospital because robert is there as the voice of reason, telling him chas did the right think seeking help

and then you had the most incredibly sarky banter - “any time i’m feeling down i just look at you and think ‘it could be worse, i could be robert’” AND THAT LAUGH THAT IS SO INFECTIOUS IT MAKES ROBERT LAUGH

and i know they were such small scenes and not exactly romantic but they weren’t mate-y either. they looked settled, happy, content in each other’s company and comfortable to show it even around others.

i don’t even know where i’m going with this i was just really happy to see them so relaxed and at ease with each other it’s literally made my heart hurt

He entered the pub, Aaron’s hand gripping his as they approached the bar. Chas looked up and her shoulders slumped in relief.

“They let you go?” she asked, searching her son’s face, then Robert’s, for confirmation.

Aaron nodded. “DS Wise sorted it. He’s been released without charge.”

Even hearing the words said aloud had Robert relaxing back into his own skin. He’d been so tense in the car, as if ready for the police to suddenly chase after him and drag him back, tell him they had more than enough evidence to put him away. He’d held onto Aaron’s hand so tightly the whole way home, terrified of what might happen if he let go.
