It's so nice how the guys in Hetalia have diverse body types in canon. But the fanart where they are all portrayed as overly conventionally attractive and skinny and sparkly is so spread to the point the official art isnt as known, that now everyone outside of the fandom thinks its one of those shoujo bishie animes (like Uta no prince or Jugallobunga Romanti forgot the name of that one) that are aimed at teenage girls.. Oh god now I went off topic as i went along, sorry.

Hetalia is one of those few “Animes” that have realistic body types AND diverse

Italy is what they call “Slender” because he has wider hips and America is “Big boned” because of wide shoulders and a bigger chest

One thing that I really love about Himaryua’s work especially is although they are anime styled drawings they don’t have the super skinny unrealistic anime body types like everyone looks like they have a healthy weight

they’re perfect for each other– two tired old men w an odd lov for philosophy n a flair for the dramatic yet different enough that they compliment each other beautifully by compensating for the other’s weak points n highlighting their strong ones?? plus they’re both difficult it takes a special person to handle either of them but i think they’d find that in each other

ivan sometimes gets v pessimistic abt life in general n it’s times like these where francis will instinctively know that ivan needs to be held n he’ll hold his head in his lap n comb thru his hair n tell him old fables bc sometimes reality being dumped over our heads isn’t at all what we need

francis has rlly?? niche interests? it’s hard to find ppl who can talk abt philosophy, the arts n literature but still not be a total stick in the mud all other times??? thank god ivan is one of those ppl???

they’re both so Tired n sometimes life rlly weighs on them n you’ll find both of them out in the back smokin together in silence w centuries obvious in their eyes but it’s a lil less tiring, a lil less empty, when the other is there beside them

ivan is proud of the fact that he rarely gets flustered but ever since he met francis, master of unnecessary flirtation, that fact has become less of a fact n more of a memory of the past tho honestly he can’t complain

ivan likes to randomly scoop francis up bridal style n carry him around bc?? he’s gonna treat him like the prince he is???

francis gets sad sometimes too :( n ivan will wrap him up in his arms n bury his face in his hair n tell him it’ll b alright soon. he’s right here n he won’t let the demons come any closer

they’re stupid sentimental old men who will absolutely b cliche af n dance to old, old songs in the kitchen w their arms wrapped around each other n their eyes locked to the others like they’re the only two ppl in the whole damn world

francis is adamant abt taking this man shopping bc “no, ivan, tired old man is not a legitimate fashion style pls get rid of that coat it’s been twenty years” 

francis enjoys attempting to do ivan’s hair. ivan does not object to being fussed over

sometimes when they’re both a little tipsy they’ll end up singing old folk songs n war songs n sometimes even modern pop songs too loudly n not entirely on key but it’s alright bc there’s no one around to judge them

they’ll pull this thing when they strut into meeting w their arms linked n they’ll just sweep over everyone w these smug smiles on their faces n everyone is Afraid bc they’re such a Team

they’re giant dorks?? they’ll pull that thing n put food on each other’s faces n it usually ends w tussling n francis usually wins bc he pulls the Automatic Win aka kissing ivan

basically?? i lov them?? good bois?? they’re perfect for each other?? can have a good time w each other bc theyre comfy w each other but also have dmc for the same reason?? ily rainy bless

before I was a Hetalia blog I actually had a Harry Potter blog. I figure hey, why not take my in depth Harry Potter knowledge and apply it to Hetalia. So here is my sorting of the Face Family. (Questions, coments and debating are always welcome)

America: Gryffindor: America is a Gryffindor. This one is pretty obvious I don’t disagree when people sort him here. Really he’s the perfect Gryffindor. Loud, proud, competitive, brave. But here is what makes him a Gryffindor. He always does what HE thinks is right for everyone. This is actually the staple of a true Gryffindor. America has and will always doe what he sees fit. It doesn’t matter what the popular opinion of the world is. He’s going to do what makes him happy and he will think it’s for the good of everyone while he’s doing it because, as he says he’s the hero.

Canada: Hufflepuff: I have seen Canada be put in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. And I can see the appeal of him being placed in Gryffindor because he’s America’s brother but and they do have similarities. You can’t just make him the tag along, he’s his own person. Canada is a Hufflepuff and here is why. Of course he’s nice and whatever that’s all well and good that’s not what gives him this house. What makes him a Hufflepuff is really one of the Negative traits a Hufflepuff has and that is they are easily forgotten. Let’s not ignore the fact that Canada is one of the most forgotten about characters in cannon and the fandom. Also A Hufflepuff is more attracted to the idea of fair play. as in they would never cheat to get ahead in life. A Gryffindor would as long as the outcome was “for the good of everyone“. Canada as a character is more of a watch and see type. He’s passive. Hufflepuffs are passive. and they are also described as passive-aggressive for a negative trait. Something Canada has been shown to do may times in the manga. He is nice to your face and rolls his eyes as you turn around. Unlike America who just says what he’s thinking of you. This is why Canada would not fare well in Gryffindor, He’s Hufflepuff.

England: Slytherin. I’ve seen England be put everywhere from Gryffindor to Ravenclaw. But he’s a Slytherin through and through. To realize this you have to first ask what makes a Sytherin: cunning, resourcefulness, superiority, and ambitious. England is all of these things and so much more. It’s also stated in the books that Slytherins are competitive and sneaky. They are not afraid to cheat and lie to get themselves ahead in life. This is why they can be assumed evil and why so many of them turn to that way of life. But These traits can also be extremely useful. And England works them. He’s a self proclaimed, dark wizard and a super spy. He’s got the stealth and the extensive knowledge of the Dark arts which he frequently uses to get himself ahead in life. And this is the core reason here. England has the ability to use Magic but is only seen using it to further his own goals. England is a Slytherin 100%.

France: Ravenclaw. I’ve seen France in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. I don’t really understand him being in Gryffindor at all. Not once has he displayed any of the traits they have. France is original. This one one of the main traits that set him apart from everyone. he strives to be the best and different at the same time. ie: his shoes are different and more expensive than anyone in the room therefor his shoes are better even if no one quite understands the fashion. We see this with his eccentric war clothing that has caused him problems a few times. He’s also Creative, let’s not ignore France has arguably the best food and architecture in the world. He is also aware of these things and will constantly remind you of them.
